Build.prop modify dpi setting - Motorola Photon 4G

A while back there was a thread about tweaking your build.prop: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263768&highlight=build.prop
If you changed your dpi setting to something other than 240 I would suggest that you set it back to 240. I was running dpi 235 for quite a while and I kept getting the message "your device is not compatible" from the market for various apps. Yestetday I set my dpi back to 240 and rebooted. Not only was I able to install the said app, but after a few minutes I was notified that there were 22 app updates available.
So, changing your dpi not only makes some apps unable to install, but it also prevents some installed apps from updating.
Hope this was helpful for some of you.

[Q] This Item Is Not Compatible With Your Device on Market with Vegan Tab 7.1

I just got Vegan Tab 7.1 and LOVE IT... the UI is fantastic!
However, there seems to be an issue with several if not most of my apps on the Android Market. I get the message "This item is not compatible with your device"
All of these apps I have used with previous roms including Vegan tab 7.0.3 and Cyanogen Mod 7.1
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
clear market data, then try again.... worked for me
Good Call, I should have thought of that.
Clearing data is only only a temporary fix (at least for me). A few hours later Market updates and I get the "not compatible" message again.
I clear data again and later it again updates.
The other solution seems to be to freeze the market updater.
That happend to me too...
I did go back to Harmony ROM.
one of the reason;
When using the Android Market website, a device will be grayed out if it isn’t compatible with the app you’re attempting to install. Most commonly, this occurs because the app isn’t designed for your device's screen size or version of Android.

I faced this issue as I changed my LCD density. After reverting back to the default LCD density value for my mobile, It worked normal.
I have also noticed that after the vegan 7.1 update, my device has *vanished* from the list of my devices on android market. Is anyone also noticing this?

What is the "default" density? After installing 7.1 i noticed it's now 160...
Regarding cache-clearing: I have tried that and it didn't work.
Dan
I am on stock 3588 plus the enhancement pack.
A couple of weeks ago I started having the same problem with the compatibility of most apps. In addition when I go the Market and then to My Apps now I only see a single app listed: LauncherPro. All other apps I installed from the market are no longer on the list.
I have reset the market by clearing the data and stopping Market and the Google Framework to no avail.
My G-Tab no longer shows as a device in my account.
I believe Google did something to eliminate the unauthorized devices.
I also think they have changed to block the "unauthorized" roms from working. about half the app installed now tell me they are not compatible with my device, and some of them are paid apps. I have asked this question, and the Markets response was to do a factory reset on my phone. I told them that was a crock as I have been on this rom for months now and a factory reset should be a last resort, not a standard fix. I asked them if they changed the market so that it looks at that, and no response yet. on the reply I got from the original mailing, my "specs" are included in the mail I sent them. It has android_os listed twice. the first is gingerbread, and the second is "other". And the first paragraph seems to indicate that with the "warning" about unauthorized os's. And the os is actually what should be on my device (android os), just it is modified, which happens when you personalize your phone anyway by adding widgets, change wallpaper or toggle features.
So is there any hack for that?
Or at least a way to find out what exactly in my device settings prevents the app from being compatible?
Use the modded market..you shouldn't run into that at all with it

Android Market: Your device is not compatible with this item

I purchased a UK O2 branded Samsung Galaxy S2 back in April/May. The Build Number for the stock ROM was XWKDD which is what it is still now. The day I received the phone, I rooted it using the technique given by ChainFire.
My phone was working quite happily and my applications were updating in the Android Market. However, since about the time of the new Market (the one with the UI overhaul), many of the applications that are installed on my phone do not appear in My Apps.
When I search for the application in the Market, they show up in the search list as "Installed" but going to the application it says "Your device is not compatible with this item".
I have contacted Google Market Support who have stated that this is down to me gaining root access. They are only happy to help me once I've done a factory reset back to a stock ROM.
It seems strange that applications have become incompatible only since the new Android Market. I do not believe the applications are incompatible, I think it is just the Market just thinking they are. Is there a way around this?
I could unroot my phone but this is a huge hassle as I need my root access to backup/restore my application data (the only real reason why I have root access to begin with).
Any suggestions? TIA
Have you changed the DPI of the screen? I changed mine to 200 and I get a lot of these messages unless I change back to default of 240.

You're a star. Yes I did make this change. I've just reverted it and all my applications are appearing in My Apps and it's allowing me to update them all to the latest version. Thanks very much.
I think I'll leave it at 240 DPI now as don't want to keep reverting this when I need to update apps. Plus, some apps don't render well with the 200 DPI setting.

[Q] Changing DPI - is using the modded market 'safe'..?

I like changing the DPI of my Galaxy Nexus to 240dpi
Unfortunately, this makes some apps run in tablet mode (Plume Pro and Tweetcaster Pro)
Changing to 241dpi fixes this
However, this ruins my market - I can no longer get updates for many of my apps ("This app is not compatible with your device")
There is an option with LCD Density Modder Pro to use a 'modded market' - this seems to solve my problem, however... is using this modded market safe? Because surely it's some sort of hack and so I shouldn't keep my card details within it (to purchase apps?)
Thanks
Bump...
surely someone must know the answer..
I can't vouch for the app as I don't know what it does, but I can tell you that your card details aren't stored in the app settings, or anywhere on your device. They're linked to your Google account and stored online.
Thanks I think I'll use it

[Q] Trouble with LCD Density

I am wondering if anyone has successfully used an app to set screen density? I used the app "LCD Resolution" to change from 160 to 190 dpi. I know about the Play Store quirks, etc.
My problem is: This seemed to work fine, all looked good for a while. Now whenever it's set to 190 I cannot connect wifi, and I get certain apps saying I have lost root. Such as the LCD Resolution app, when on 190 and I try going back to 160 tells me I have no busybox and I must be rooted. Root Explorer also will not come on line at this time, even though Superuser grants it access. A reboot, or Backup-restore sets everything back to 160 (cause I never check "set on boot").
I'm trying to figure out why it worked well for about 2 weeks, now I lose wifi and other tasks. Can anyone offer any help or info about how to change density successfully? I mainly need the text larger in the Kindle app. On 160 density and the largest text available, I find marginal on my old eyes! Thanks in advance for any pointers you may have.
Edit: I wiped, and flashed rom again (CM7),, and started over. Uninstalled/reinstalled the density app & all seems back to normal.

NFL Mobile app force closes (custom DPI on fre3 hybrid 2.23)

Hello all, I am running freeza's fre3 hybrid 2.23 with a custom DPI (340). Any time I go to the audio pass portion of the NFL Mobile app, it force closes.
When I first installed the app and left the DPI alone, the app worked fine. Once I changed the DPI on the ROM, it started force closing. I changed the DPI for the app (to 480) in App Settings and the app went back to its original DPI, but it still force closes. Any idea what else I can do to fix it?
Anyone?

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is the "audio pass" portion of the NFL App? Does it normally take you to a log-in page? If so, there may be a check within the App that looks for the system DPI, which may not be affected by the XPosed app. I know that there's a lot of options within the APP Settings XPosed Module and sometimes it takes some fine-tuning to get an app to work exactly how you want it.
Also, please check out the Forum Rules, as bumping a thread should only be done once every 24 hours.
