I have the gingerbread update but I still retained s= off but no root after receiving it
Ginger 2.3.4 S=Off No Root
To answer your question. The dhd effects worked on virtuous unity using poweramp. I'm not sure about the stock ROM. Sucks about not having root. Have you looked into the g2 dev section about how to downgrade your bootloader or I think we have a sticky on ours. It's a flashable zip. You need s-off which you have.

Ok soo ive been an android user since the htc dream i just got the my touch 4G from tmob and I hate the stock apps and I would love to have a better simple yet slick rom
So I did some research on google and I found a app thats suppost give you permanent root and turn off s
Its called "Visionary plus"
I wanna know if it works and if I still have todo adb commands via pc or just terminal app
Any feed back is welcome
Thanks in advance

It works as you need VISIONary+ to obtain TempROOT. So after that by running WPX script the WP is disabled for emmc. So you can push eng_hboot and turn S=OFF to gain PermROOT.
Make sure your on Stock2.2.1Sense as GB2.3.4Sense has issues as you can't use rage exploit any more, so look in to Gingerleak.

Search for a rooting guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866175
The steps are very easy to follow.
If you have a question, just keep reading the posts.
Someone's already asked and someone's already answered.
BUT if you can't find an answer. Msg me I'd more than happy to help.
Its easy. Just read the instructions and take you time. Lots of pros with a rooted phone....titanium backup, faster, newer roms, etc.....better battery life is one thing. I use faux's AOSP 1.2.8 and its silky smooth.
Rooted/OC'd/1.2.8
ya this is how i rooted, pretty easy

That depends on person to person. I myself can't use a device without radio security disabled. As S=off does have its advantages but even in awake of all the BS that I discovered regarding our Glacier after spending close to 1K on it I would still root it. As I did few times and ill do it again as no risk no game.

I have an Evo w/the latest OTAs.. but I heard that the HTC method of unlocking isn't as good as the revolution way.
What should I be looking for/waiting for? I'm so pissed off.. might just sell it and get the damn GS2 instead!

You can use HTC's method and still flash ROMs, kernels, or just root your phone. The steps are a little different with HTC's method than if your phone was just S-off, but I think you can accomplish everything besides flashing a different HBOOT. I do think a 4.5" screen might be nice to see though .
Thank you, kind sir.
Could you help me with these steps, please?
I am still a newbie, you see.
Thanks in advance.
Do some searching in cdma dev section I've seen how to root guides for hboot ..1.50

Can you flash custom kernals/radios/any roms?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I need to know if I were to unlock my evo with HTC method, and eventually root it ..then will I be able to update my evo to the latest ICS when it comes out early 2012??if so how ?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA Premium App
If you unlock and root your phone you will probably have ICS available to you before HTC releases an OTA via a custom rom.

But the problem is ,what of HTC release a whole new sense UI ICS Update ? Then how ? Thx
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA Premium App
the dev's here will probably have a leaked release (with any changes to the UI), make it 10x better then the projected ota and post it here, you'd d/l it and flash it onto your rooted phone.

This is correct. 90% of the time, devs have a stable leaked release before the OEM actually releases it.

As someone pretty experienced with Android, I'm embarrassed to have to ask this, but I'm at my wits end with this issue. How in the heck do you upgrade the Market app to the latest version on a stock/unrooted MT4G? My friend's phone is stock. When they had Froyo, it was easy to download the latest version from XDA and install it like a normal app. Ever since they got the GB OTA update, I get the "installation failed" message when trying to install.
The reason we need the latest version is the 10 cent discounted promotional prices don't show up on the old version...the app's regular price is listed.

Good idea, very simple. However, this person is very cautious when it comes to rooting and possibly voiding the warranty (even if temp rooting doesn't actually do that). I was hoping there was a Market build intended for stock phones, or that the new version could be pushed OTA to the phone somehow (shouldn't that have happened a long time ago anyway?).

The phone already received the GB OTA update, so as I understand it Visionary won't work. Do newer versions of Visionary work, or is there some other way of gaining temp root?

I also emailed the dev last night. I provided him with the information he needed, and now I'm booting both stock ICS and Energy ICS =)
I'm still having trouble with some roms though, such as SpeedRom and ARHD. I'm working with the dev to solve these issues. I'll let you guys know when it's ready, unless of course, you'd like to help too =)
