DLNA not working? - HTC EVO 3D

I am new to the DLNA. I have a PS3, a Google Revue, and a Samsung DLNA-compliant TV. However, I'm not sure how to stream media to those devices. I have used the Connected Media app, but nothing shows up on the EVO 3D nor the other devices. I read that other people talked about the Share Media app, but I couldn't find it on my phone. Did I do anything wrong?
UPDATE: Finally got it to work. It's really the problem of the wireless bridge. If I have the devices on the same router/access point, it works! Thanks for the tip.

I am having the same problem. The only way I can make my homenetwork connect to eachother is to reset my router. But after a day or two the connection is gone unless I reset my router again. So I am guess the automatic IP assining conflicts causing the problem.

can you give me more information about your setup, like which devices are you using?
I have a ASUS RT-N13U router with WPA2 security.

The app is called media share and it is a default program on stock. You just have to start it, select what you want to share and go to the other device and it should automatically see it.

I don't have Media Share on my stock Rogers ROM, not sure why they removed it. I read everywhere that people were talking about this Media Share app, but I don't know if there is any way to download it elsewhere. Is it an Android stock or HTC stock app?

I think it is HTC stock. I will see if I can extract the apk.

Stupid question, but you do have you phone connected to the same Wireless router as the devices you are trying to send the media to? My Sony just shows up in the Connected Media app. And I click on it and it streams right away, never had to do anything. If so, maybe it is a DCHP issue on your router. Try enabling DCHP.
Also, I do not think it is compatitable with PS3. I cannot do it that way, just my TV over WIFI.

The phone and the TV is technically on the same network, but not on the same router, since I am using a wireless bridge to bridge the 2 routers together. Not sure if that caused the problem? I'll try to connect them on the same router and restart the router to see if that helps.

Finally got it to work. It's really the problem of the wireless bridge. If I have the devices on the same router/access point, it works! Thanks for the tip.

Just don't know how to enable it with my htc sensation? Thanks.
anyone has the answer? Thanks.
You need to put more information into the OP. What exactly would you like to do? What have you tried so far that hasn't worked?

skifta (beta) will act as a server and client. Both devices must be connected to a wifi network and it will not work if you are using the phone itself as the wifi access point.

seems like DLNA is really a software related.
For any device support wifi, it should be possible to support dlna by adding a protocol layer?

Wireless tether?

I just rooted my hboot 1.5 last night, I have superuser and all that stuff, but when I try to use my wireless tether app but my other device I'm trying to connect to my 3D keeps saying obtaining ip address and won't connect to it, any help please?

I just rooted mine today. And I am noticing that getting a client to pull a DHCP assigned IP is somewhat quirky.
I got my Transformer tablet to pull an IP couple of times now. Initially I dsiabled running apps that may be trying to use wifi - Xmarks, Skype, etc... So try nuking some running apps.
It may be that I merely need the tell the transformer to forget the 'AndroidTether' SSID, and reconnect to it. That seemed to work the second time, I'm going to try with my some other clients and see if I can make a tad more relaible.

Yeah, actually after I posted, I looked at some other search results, and saw wwjoshdew's thread (that dude is excited!). And enabled both options. I type this via my EVO 3D using my work laptop (XP pro), and can say that my Transformer tablet, and my kids' iPod touches have all connected using wireless tether. (Got two laptops for the kids under the tree - this will pay big dividends on the next road trip.)
Just need to lock it down now. And go donate.

2) to wireless tether dudes
3) to teamwin recovery dudes
4) whatever else I install that proves to be so damn compelling...

That's how I was able to get Wifi Tethering to work.
For some ROMs though, no matter what you do, Wifi Tethering just doesn't work.
Guys this is what i did
Change device - evo 3d
No wifi encryption
Enable access control - unchecked
Clamping and routing fix - checked
------
I tried to play with access control on off, still doesnt work,
Installed 3.1 beta and 3.1 pre 110 too
It always says no internet...
Im using infectedrom rsl1

could always try barnacle tether as well, that one works for me when I couldn't get wireless tether working.
barnacle works well for an adhoc... i also have a problem connecting at home with any wifi app even the hotspot hack.. it was driving me bonkers but... when i wasn't home, it would work...
i finally came to the conclusion that because i live in a condo and there are 10 different wireless networks. those routers seem to squash my evo3d's network.. did the same with the OG evo.. making it hell to try to tether without a usb cable... so guys if your in an area with alot of wifi networks try wifi tethering elsewhere and see if it works.. hope this helps..
Just thought I'd chime in here and say the reason your not connecting to your wifi app of choice or the hotspot hack is not due to there being multiple wireless networks around you.

This could definitely be it, I have a Vizio TV that came with a wireless subwoofer and rear surround speakers. For the life of me I couldn't figure our why my laptop could never connect to my home router when I was in that room. Some days it would work great but most it wouldn't connect or I would get terrible throughput. I even replaced the router once. It never dawned on my since I almost always have the TV on when I'm on my laptop that the wireless subwoofer would be the problem until I turned the TV off and my network instantly improved. Turned TV back on and crap network. I unplugged the wireless card from the TV and haven't had a problem sense.

That just means your sub woofer may have not been magnetically shielded. Also you could have just changed your routers frequency or just moved it to a different location. But a wireless sub woofer interfering with a router is understandable. But not being able to connect to a wireless network because of to many wireless networks is not true.

update to my problem,
i downgraded to 107, it now says "internet connection", and i noticed my pc and mobile phone is "paired" or linked, but when i tried to use internet, it does not do anything and the internet now says "no internet", i see that on tether app there is some upload and download going on like .4kb once in a while (then it will say "no internet" on my wifi ), i cant browse the net, if i click diagnose (int explorer) it says DNS............. again......
this is what I encountered.

[Q] Bluetooth

Has anyone managed to successfully connect to a mobile phone using bluetooth?. I've tried different phones and always get the "paired but not connected " message.
I was already in my bed but stand up to try it.
With my iPhone 4S iOS 5.1 it doesn't work over Bluetooth. Wifi hotspot works well.
So I think you are right. Get up guys and try it! Which phone works and which not?
iPhone doesn't. Over Bluetooth.
i guess the more pertinent question might be.. What are you trying to do? It will only stay connected to another handset for as long as it needs to be... so unless you're actually trying to actively use a BT connection it won't be connected.
you need to setup/install a BT profile. Check for AirBlue for iPhone.

I can pair devices but that's as far as it goes.If I try to transfer files it just wont connect.
I dont get the question,, Transfer files of using the tablet for sound or something?
For file sharing :
No problem at all first I transferred a picture from phone to tablet and that succeeded then
from tablet to phone also no problem,
Samsung Galaxy SII
But to connect with bluetooth and then Calling or something with the Tab, that just doesn't makes sense.

Same here, couldn't transfer files between my Tablet and ArcS (in either direction). Not much of an issue for me, but it's a shame BT connectivity is broken on the tablet. Here's hoping ICS will fix it
I tried a few transfers and they all worked fine.. From and to xperia s.. But... I also have astro file manager, and it's Bluetooth module..might be worth trying that..

Not that I know of but if your PC is connected to the internet via Ethernet and has wireless capabilities there is an app called connectify that can turn your PC into a wireless hot spot .
I haven't played with it, but if bluetooth is fully functional and you have bluetooth on your PC, it should be doable. I have done the reverse with my Droid3. Maybe the mobile devices don't have the "host" piece and unfortunately I can't say for certain, but hopefully someone else can chime in and confirm or deny my thoughts. If nobody else can provide info, I'll play tomorrow and see what I can come up with.
Edit: I may be wrong. Based on the screenshots from this thread, it doesn't look like the networking profile is an option.

That's a shame does that mean that you would not be able to turn on wi-fi hotspot with an android phone also , don't forget the range would be relatively limited .
Use Bluetooth tethering... there is an option for internet sharing via Bluetooth

AirDroid = Wireless Web access and remote view

Have you tested AirDroid? I am in disbelief of what it can do. I think seeing is believing and suggest everyone have a look.

It's one of my must-have apps. Along with Unified Remote & TeamViewer. You might also want to check them out.
Tried it. It's a really cool idea, but ultimatively not useful to me. I realized that after I had it installed for a few days and, apart from the initial setup and testing, never reached for it.

Very nice app but it needs WiFi.
I'm usual to leave my Atrix in charge (via USB cable) during work but AirDroid needs always WiFi connection even if I'm already connected with cable.
I've used ADB.EXE (from Android SDK) to forward connection from PC-Host and Atrix-Android...in this way I can connect to AirDroid via "127.0.0.1ort" but if I shutdown WiFi the app closes all inbound connection EVEN localhost via USB cable!!! So I must leave WiFi connected all the day to use AirDroid.
Bad thing....
This is a network app, and it works exactly as intended. No point in complaining about something the app was never intended to do.

Even our Atrix was released with Froyo and after this with Gingerbread, but most of ppl wants to have ICS on a custom ROM.
So your argument is superfluous: most of ppl uses something in a way it wasn't intended to one similar use.

If you can make something work in a way it was not intended to work, that's cool, good for you. But don't expect it and don't complain if it doesn't happen. That is all.
