OK, I need someone who wants to make some cash make me a entire app. I have gotten ridiculous prices from people in India to build one. Anyone want to take this on? Should be pretty simple.

Can you describe in more detail what kinda of app you are looking for and what kind of money you are willing to spend? I'd say most serious app devs will be put off without that kind of information.
All the best,
Ash

I don't know exactly what I am looking for. I would like some ideas, but I am looking basically for a user friendly, mobile version of my forum website.

I'm guessing something like a "Droid Tech" branded tapatalk-style application?

Yes, but Im already in taptalk, I want a "stand alone" app. Does that make sense?

I will make and give you the app for Free

[Q] Swype vs shapewriter

Anyone have any feelings on this?
I've tried swype and loved it, is there any benefit of shapewriter?
It's been a while since I've used shapewriter but I remember it being better with it's prediction and usually types the right word more often

If it's legal, can anyone post an apk for shapewriter? I'm a swyper but I'd like to give shapewriter a try. If not, I'll try to find it elsewhere. Tia

can you honestly say your not interested in testing it out to see if it really works?
Not only that, it could be useful to some (morality and legality aside). Not for me, but to each their own. No need to flame.

Seriously, I think that's pretty tempting to at least try out too. If people are lying, let the truth prevail! hahaha.

If you can access the phone long enough to install this you could probably just read the effing messages.
Also, if you want to spy on your partner, save yourself some time and just break up now.

Help Need Making A very Personal App

Well basically, this girl I like, and me have the same phone, the Atrix 4G. Now I wanted to ask her to a dance, and wanna make an app for that, Something creative and original, like say plays a youtube video of me asking her to the dance, then opens up a prompt which says yes and no, if she selects yes, her phone calls/texts me the answer, what is your opinion on this? Will it work? Too Nerdy? Overkill?
I support this. Even if nerdy, id want to use it for jokes. Hah

i doubt you will find a dev who wants to spend time on this ... for free...
but you might figure out how to do this yourself
how long of a timespan do you have?
I reckon you might be able to get something up and running within 2 weeks~ if you're fast
this guy's got excellent FREE consolidated android dev videos on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/CornboyzAndroid
Hahaha thanks for all the positive replies, yeah I've never coded before in any kind of form, I'm more of a hardware person, though you see fragmentation won't be a problem here as me and her have the same phone. Any more how to videos would be appreciated, I have a lot of time for this, but just wanted to put the idea out there and get some support, after all I thought android devs would be more helpful considering they develop for open source platforms.

I hope you don't like this girl because she has the same phone as you. That's really... rhymes with day. But uh, if she says yes, put your app on the market and market it as able to get you dates. Btw, if she says yes and you two hit it off, are you going to make an app asking her can I see what is in your panties?

I came across this thread and I cracked up. It's an "interesting" idea, to put it nicely, and you are being creative. I wish you the best of luck. Just don't wait too long to make your move or someone will beat you to it. (Now I am going to have to subscribe to this thread just to see what the outcome was. )

"App Sale Alert" App?

I'm looking for an app that will alert me when an app I want goes on sale.
Anyone know of any?

Yea, there are a few that do this, Im not sure if they are still around, give me a bit (later today) and I will see if I can find something.
In the mean time, check if AppBrain has this functionality.
When I had my iphone (4 yrs ago) I had an app called "Appsniper". It watched apps I selected and alerted me of discounts.
Only if there was some other way... Wink!
Regular Play Store already does that.....
Just look thru the featured and the front page and actually read (cuz I know when I look in Play first thing I'll do is head to Apps section or just search lol)
I've gotten a lot of games and app that where lowered down to a real good price for a certain time then brought back up

Nice find. But why why why must apps like these need to possibly start at boot. That's one of my biggest pet peeves. No reason for it.

How else is it going to notify you of the apps that are on sale? Can't do it if it is not running.
Since I have apple and android, I use a site call appaggie. I use the RSS feeds to alert me.

I'd rather the app notify me in the notification bar or just when I log in the app rather than it start at boot... many apps don't need to run at boot but still push notifications to you. Draw something the game for instance...

Yes I get your point. Maybe it is a funding issue. Using airpush or similiar if there is one may be an extra cost to the developer. Hopefully it is a route that more developers will use in the future.
Im the developper of AppSales, thanks for your feedback!
Like Agoattamer said, the app needs the "start on boot" permission to start the service which checks if there are new sales(if you haven't disabled it). If you remove the permission, the service will start with the first app-launch.
Im going to start a new thread in the app-section in a few hours. Feel free to give me some feedback there.

Android app for a small business

I'm looking to create an app for my deli/restaurant and I'm a chef that knows my way around android but nothing on this level. I want to hire an app developer to create a basic app with my menu, specials, Facebook etc. WWW.Faldonis.com is my website (don't laugh at the website... I told ya I'm a chef) to give ya an idea of the menu and feel of my place. I will go in to more details once an app devolper PMS me.
Thanks,
Chef

Its better to have an amateur website than no website at all. IMO, you'd probably be better off developing a decent mobile version of your website. Everything you want can be done through a smartphone browser pretty easily. Plus the same website will work on Android, iOS, Blackberry, etc instead of an app which would work only with one OS.
I can do it

Yeah this is what a dev just pmd me. Makes more sense to have a mobile friendly app. I think it would be neat to have an actual "Faldonis" app that opened the mobile version also. And yes... even though my website isn't easy on the eyes... it does have almost 40,000 visits to the home page
which like you say is better then nothing.
