[Q] lost memeory - TouchPad General

ok well i was doing the android install and my girl unplugged my laptop which didnt have the battery so i didnt finish the install and after a day the touchpad died and then i charged and started back up and stuff was missing so i checked system info and out of the 32 gigs there was only 1.6 available...wtf..i need any help available to get those 30+ gigs back thanks

You're gonna have to go see the doctor. Sounds like your partition tables got messed up. Just search there are tons of threads on how to run the WebOS Doctor on the Touchpad.

I have the same problem except mine shows 25gb as max instead of 32gb. I tried wiping it and doctoring it and it still shows 25gb. What else can I do?

Make sure you have the newest files from CM downloaded. You should have a file called ACMEUninstaller. run it by booting your Touchpad while holding down the volume up key till you see the big USB symbol. Open a command prompt in the folder where you installed novacom and places the ACMEInstaller and AMCEUninstaller files and type in "novacom boot mem:// < ACMEUninstaller" you should see a bunch of code on the screen after it reboots your partitions should be reset.

I followed your directions and uninstalled Android, which got me to 27GB, but no where near 32GB. I am trying to wipe it and doctor it again to see if it makes a difference.

27GB is about right. You have to remember that is it 32GB raw once you format it an load an OS on it 27GB is about what you should have.

Oh really? I never knew it took that much memory. Thanks for the help.

Archos 70 IT bricked?

When I try to reinstall the firmware it will not work. I get a message update failed: (1). This is done in the recovery section. I have put the latest firmware in, but nothing happens other then the error message. When I turn on the Archos it just goes straight to the Archos A70S Recovery screen. I have totally reformatted the device several times. Any thoughts on this board? Thanks.
Aaron
Try to format the device and then install the firmware, also, make sure to have the right firmware so the archos stock .aos file and not the SDE firmware .aos file
have you tried redownloading the archos firmware again? maybe the download got corrupted?
Also try running the repair tools under recovery: specifically Check Disk?
do you have a (1) at the end of the aos file? "sdqsqdfkqsdomij(1).aos" like Firefox do, i had the same error like that
Thanks...but I think I have tried it all...no luck
Try using a different browser, like IE to download it.
I've got the same thing going on. Was trying to re-partition the app space and something didn't work for the 4th time. So I removed Android and the SDE and now I can't get it to boot. My problem is that I was running windows, not sure what you were using, and I changed the recovery location's format. So every time I go to load the file the archos will format the partition then windows says it will not read and formats the partition... I move the file and try to start the reload only to fail.
I'm going to run ADB hopefully tomorrow. I hardly know what I'm doing, but don't really care if I break it! Just playing around but if anyone has any ideas let me know!
If you removed sde and android, there is nothing to boot from.
You then have to go into the recovery, format the device from there and then restore the orginal Android by transfering the aos file from arcos.
Yeah, I might have done that 10 times. That is when the archos reformats itself to something and then windows can't read the drive.
After you have transfered the AOS File to the device and it installs the Archos Android
it reformats the device to something?
I think that the archos is formatting to ext3 but windows can't read it, so windows then formats to whatever and I move the file, then hit ok on archos and you get failed message.
I know that AOS files work because I have already used them once.
If any of you guys give up on trying to get life into your bricked gen8 devices, then shoot me a message... I might be interested in buying the device from you.
Have you tried tried to fully charge it before installing? I had that same problem and it got fixed by fully charging the device first.
Full charge and plugged in as we speak.
You now have 133 posts on xda and still are not able to post a complete detailed description of what you are doing and what is happening?
How should we help?
My suggestion if you get an Error, tell us what error exactly, as my crystal ball is on repair atm.
Ha! 393 posts and your only kind of a ****? Thanks!
All kidding aside It's not easy to describe whats going on, and I wasn't trying to hijack this thread but I think the original poster is way gone. I was only trying to say I had the same problem and was going to try a few things to get it working again, but this was only yesterday and I have not had luck. I never really even asked for help but appreciate everyones input.
So... Let me start again!
Archos 101.
Long ago I had Urik Droid 1.0 installed but it had since been removed. Before I messed everything up i had the latest Archos update and rooted. I was trying to create a large partition for apps and had just edited the init.rc and rebooted. Somewhere here I messed up! Boot loops start and I'm into recovery.
Recovery shows everything normal, but I'm unable to update archos via AOS file. So I totally reformat and remove SDE in an attempt to just start fresh. This is not the case and I figured it wouldn't be.
As I described before, using windows, in archos recovery this is what is displayed.
Archos A101IT Recovery
Would you like to recover system?
NO
REBOOT
UPDATE FIRMWARE
REPAIR SYSTEM
FORMAT SYSTEM
If you select updated firmware the archos will reformat to ext3. It then says USB connection: Press OK to disconnect. Windows then says that it is unable to use the disk and asks to re-format. I did, because I don't think I can do anything else, moved the AOS file over and hit ok. Update failed (1).
So today I installed linux in an attempt to move ext3 to ext3. I did get the file transfered and my archos even said plug into dc power. I did and waited... Update Failed (206). Not sure what this one is!
And that's really all I know. I can't even get the last thing I described to come up again. But I have all week on vacation.
And lastly I would like to thank you for the help
And I just got the AOS to install! Formated repair to Vfat, used repair option and moved AOS into archos. For whatever reason this time it worked. Rebooted and android just started up. Don't know if everything works yet but we will see!
Funny, you do the mistake and call others names.

Let me make this clear...
I was kidding. Take a deep breath, relax and please try to help someone else if that is what you are on here to do.
I'm pretty sure what you said to me was worst then my little joke. It was hardly clever and I'm ok with it as it did make me laugh a little.
I didn't ask for your help.
I didn't need your help
You didn't help.
And I'm ok with it even if you are not.
I'm going fishing now. Good day everyone.
No, it was exactly what you needed, as before my message you didn't tell us what was happening on your side.
Please read what you have posted before and check yourself if you would be able to get any sence from that.
It is funny how some people handle kritik.

[Q] 10 Gigs of inbuilt space gone?

I have a device with stock ROM, rooted.
I tried to install ubuntu and followed a guide I found on Google (not allowed to post links yet). The files to put on root of SD card would always be about four gigs in size. I would always try to run it through terminal, but it would hang on booting ubuntu.img. The first time, I just ended the Terminal process and tried again, but this would always happen. I ended up deleting the files using Android Mate, but the system told me that 5 gigs were still used up (even though before I tried installing Ubuntu less than a gig was used). I put the files back on the device, and tried to run it again, getting the same problem. I then deleted those files also (using the built-in My Files program). However, now the system says that 10 gigs are used up! Am I missing something, or is there a way to get my space back without formating?

back up your files and format. in the amount of time you could find a solution, it would already be done the right way.

Never mind, I fixed it. Opening up the sh executable I found that it creates a temporary directory on the sd card, and deleting that gave me back my space.

[Q] Internal SD Card "Read Only"

I am having a rather challenging issue. I moved from branch 1.1 and Vegan GE-7.0.0.0 RC1 to 1.2 NVflash 20110508 CWM5504 and flashed the TeamDRH-AOSP-Preview-1F-LDPI. So the issue is that I cannot write to, wipe, reformat or partition my internal sdcard. I had to flash the ICS ROM from my external sdcard and reboot system, but the screen locks on the TeamDRH title graphic page after loading all of the apps. I tried different releases of CWM55XX, but no difference.
Running CWM, I have re-partitioned to 4096/0, then 2048/0, formatted/cleared/wiped every partition, run the keycheck and tried pretty much every function CW has but nothing can touch the files on the drive!
I can get into APX and CWM. I can mount the USB port and view the internal drive. I can move, add and delete files and windows explorer shows that each action is completed. I renamed the old Update.zip to Update-Old.zip and it changes in explorer. But as soon as I unmount USB the changes are lost. When I go into CWM and try to install the zips, the only zip files showing are the update.zip and Vegan…zip. I tried to go back to Vegan, but it boot loops.
I tried rr5678’s G-Tablet Format utility that completely erases all traces of anything in the G-Tablet's ROM storage space. It showed all of the steps as completed. I got the red letter message at power on, immediately flashed the 1.2 NVflash/CWM and it functioned perfectly. But, still, no change or effect on the old files on the internal sdcard.
At this point, after way too many hours researching, reading and rereading, it may be that either I have a corrupt config file, (which is beyond my limited expertise to determine) or a bad microdrive.
I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas on resolving this. I want my GTab back!!! (It would be extra nice to have ICS, as well!)
Cheers,
Geary

This is a known problem that sometimes develops on some gTabs with a non-standard kind (compared to the majority of gTabs) of internal SD card.
There is no known "fix" for the problem. There is a workaround on page 5 of that thread, though.
But, first, I'd like you to get me the output of a dmesg command and then run through a set of tests (see posts #88 and #66) and get me their exact output.
Ok, I will read enough to see if i can figure out how to get the test results. Gonna take me a couple of days. Thank you for the guidance!
Cheers,
Geary
Well, I downloaded the Knoppix image, burned a bootable CD, booted Knoppix, hassled through getting connected to the internet, reread the threads and gave it a "go". Got buried in abd...dmesg and bailed. I would love to provide all of the diagnostic messages, but quite honestly, do not want to invest more time to become marginally able to do so.
So...RMA and boxed off to US Merchants. Hopefully you can discover a fix, rather than a work around for this issue. But the work around is infinitely better than an ever boot looping tablet!!
Thanks again for your help to me and others!!
Cheers,
Geary

playing god with LG wine smart (looking for assistance with reviving)

Here we go!
~no recovery ~no fastboot ~no download [rooted android 4.4]
I bought an lg wine smart 2014 (LG-D486) for nostalgia's sake. The device doesn't come with much storage space so i used a partitioned micro sd card to expand the storage.
I had it up and running perfectly with Link2sd keeping the internal storage free. One day i tried to put the system files on the sdcard through link2sd.
Again everything worked fine, a little slow but i think that was because of the partitions being a little too large.
to speed things up i thought why not try a swap partition. This is where the **** hit the fan.
I was able to reformat the sdcard to have fat32/ext2/swap partitions. The phone was running great after all the setup was finished in link2sd and swapper2.
I just finished receiving a call from a friend and the phone froze up. I removed the battery and tried to start my device back up. NOTHING. no boot logo. no vibration. nothing.
---------
when i connect it to a computer (windows) i get notification to reformat the device and two folders are readable {image/verinfo}
(with linux Reader i can see 35 android partitions)
When connected to a linux computer (ubuntu) i can see about 13 android partitions.
--------------
I've tried flashing the official .kdz file but because it won't go into download mode the updater just crashes.
I've tried unzipping the .kdz and pushing sbl1.img, aboot.img, rpm.img, tz.img, laf.img, boot.img. straight to the partitions but still no reaction.
I have another fully functional wine smart device and was wondering if there was a way to push its partitions to this device?!
all i really need is a way to get download mode working again; from there i can just factory reset the device!
i know it's a long shot but id thought id ask here before giving up.
Were you able to fix it? I've another WIne here, bootlooping....

Need help fixing my dualboot android / windows tablet (Neo Shift N81)

I bought this tablet thinking it would be the best of both worlds. But the partition used for Android was rather small (4GB), and got full pretty quickly. It would seem like such a hassle to resize the partition used for Windows (21gb) because they were arranged like this in disk management: 64mb-16mb-16mb-etc-1gb partition for who knows what-4gb partition for Android-more 64mb partitions-windows partition-500mb recovery partition. Now I thought I'd use my 64gb micro SD and divide it into two partitions, one being an EXT2 of 20gb for apps. I'd need to use the app LINK2SD to move the apps, but lo and behold, Android was not rooted. (I kind of assumed it was)
So I tried to root the android portion of this tablet, using information from this page
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...p-cwm-t2975096), selecting T4 as the trigger. It didn't show the option to install a package and I ended up selecting "recovery" instead. It rebooted into the tablet's own recovery mode, where I didn't do anything. Prior to rebooting, I got the screen to select either OS, but Windows was gone. Now what? I also tried the Kingo program via my laptop prior to the method mentioned on the link above, but it kept getting stuck at 23% and 10%, idk if that may have done something. Anyways, now when I try to force boot to Windows (by selecting "boot to windows" after pressing the power button), but all I keep getting is this command prompt-like environment. Is my windows partition lost or something? Please help.
Anybody? Help
