[Q] Had to reboot around 5 times today, normal? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had my tab for just over a week today. I use it a lot, battery is almost always dead when the day is over. I've counted the numbers of times I've had to hard rest the tab today to five. It starts with small lag spike and usually ends in the tablet going dead with in 20 seconds. Basically it goes lag spiked link dead, so to call it.
Right now I'm running overcome experience with pershoots kernel and adw launcher ex. I have tried just about every combination from stock to stock with persoots to overcome stock. With or without v6.
The tablet just always ends in some lag hell after a while.
This is a euro 3g 16g p7500.
It's smooth as silk when out works tho... Can play 3d games for hours without issue, only to open something like pulse and have it all crash.
Music really seems to make it lag tho...

Odd, mine literally never has a hard freeze no matter what I do to it. I'm on stock on my 7510 at the moment. Not sure what the diff between 7500 and 7510 is, perhaps it's a manufacturing issue?
Anyone else with these issues?

hmm... seems the issue maybe related to the swipe keyboard.

Think this is caused by the keyboard getting stuck. I can see the keyboard icon in the bottom but the keyboard doesn't show it self and after a bit the whole system just goes dead.

No lag and I have not rebooted in, let me check, 10 days and 21 hours.

What keyboard are you using?

[Q] Will your vibrant easily get hanged/not responding

I am from Hong Kong, using vibrant.
I found that my vibrant will get easily hanged/not responding, occasionally.
No matter which rom I flashed, stock, roms from eugene. (Applied/not Applied lagfix)
When my vibrant is not responding, the back of vibrant near the camara or next to the camara, will get hot and hotter.
After a long press of the power button, for a hard reboot of the vibrant, the vibrant will be fine again. However, the situation repeat.
So, I want to figure out that is there anybody encountering the same situation.
Thanks.
I have not had this exact problem, but I have had mine randomly go black. It's done it 3 times in the 4 days I have had it. When it goes black, you can't turn it on, power does nothing, and you have to pull the battery to start it again. I have never let it sit long enough to see if it gets hot.
I have heard mixed thoughts, some people claim it's hardware problem, some say its a firmware problem =/
I've seen my screen turn black with just the key backlights remain on. The device becomes and remains hot to the touch as if working very hard (drawing heavily on the battery and CPU) but it never responds again. Holding down the power button for a full five seconds resets it.
In my case, I typically see this happen while I'm trying to use Google Navigate (GPS) while also running Pandora (streaming radio) in the background. Often it works, but often it doesn't, especially on days with warm weather. I've monitored battery temperatures around 114 degrees F after rebooting.
I suspect it is related to the problems with the GPS (fixed to use supl.google.com) and very much hope it will be fixed with the promised OTA upgrade. Although I may have seen it a few times (very few times) without GPS. My other suspicion turns toward a process called mmcqd which seems to run heavily at times. Perhaps the lagfix will help with this "Multimedia Card Queue Daemon" process. ::shrug::
Just offering this as notes to compare. I'm curious if others see the problem with GPS disabled? Or if you notice the mmcqd process maxing your CPU?
I've noticed that when using GPS, only when the GPS gets confused.. say for instance that I'm driving, get out of my car with a Navi program still running and walk inside of a building/house.. bam, phone is dead with the buttons lit.. I've decided to not bother with GPS.
If you're having those types of issues try avoiding background sync with the forever sluggish stock eMail app, and don't load up the internal memory with a lot of junk.
having the same prob... cant find the solution .. do u have any?
This happens to me on my stock vibrant everytime I try to use the maps program. On the off chance I get it to start working, as soon as it shifts orientation to landscape mode the whole thing will lock up. Usually I have to remove the battery to get it to reset. As was said, it appears to be caused by the faulty gps, so I usually just leave mine off.
However, I haven't noticed it happening while doing anything else and I'm hoping the upcoming ota update fixes these issues. (Don't want to bother with rooting stuff until I'm on stock 2.2)
The solution is to install the leaked update that we should be getting officially very soon. No freezing, no serious lag (installing apps will lag almost any Android device), no black screen freeze ups, much improved GPS, I'm lovin' it.
I installed Cyanogen Mod7 on samsung vibrant, after reboot the set not started, only samsung logo shows but not booted further, plz give the solution.

[Q] Frustration with lockscreen delay... Is there a solution?

Hi there, Ive had a SGS2 for about 24 hours now and am about ready to send it back and get a refund. Its driving me insane. One one had, its a fantastic phone, looks great, fast as hell, really neat features.
But one feature I cant stomach is the 10 second lag I get when waking the phone. 10 seconds from when I press home or power to being able to open the lock screen. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I understand from other posts that this may be related to a power saving feature, but in all honesty, what other phones have this poor response time?
Does anyone have a solution? Ive tried rooting, updating firmware, kernel, lockscreen etc. No joy. It kills me that I have to send it back because of this stupid bitty issue, but I will break this phone in frustration in a few weeks if I keep it...
S
You should get it replaced. Mine is .5 seconds before it turns on. it's REALLY fast to turn on on mine. I'd say faster than my iphone 4. I think you've got a fuddy duddy.
I have a sneaky suspicion you're exaggerating the delay by about 9 seconds. I agree a delay of any sort on a phone of this spec is annoying (my MIUI flashed HD2 had zero delay) but is it enough to return the phone? Not in my opinion, it's a software issue.
I will be happy when a solution is discovered of course but for the time being there are more annoying issues on this phone. Like the constant '3G' to 'H' switching on data connection.
nope, you must have something faulty happening there. 10 seconds is not normal at all. not in my experience anyway. There IS a lag unlike any other phone when hitting the home button. I hate it too. but 10 seconds!? That's crazy. If it doesn't cost you then you should get it replaced.
Of course you could try rooting/flashing to see if it helps but then all that extra hassle if it doesn't work and you still have to return it.
'power saving feature' is not true... phone is doing the same as most decent smartphones out there in terms of battery.
despite all this, I love this device. I truly believe it is the best handset available right now. period!
Im afraid Im not exaggerating, just timed it, 9 seconds from lights on to lockscreen being responsive. Ive tried flashing it, Went from Vodafone BUKE1 to XWKE7 and no difference. Will flash it back to BUKE1 and send it back.

Then your phone is faulty. Mine becomes responsive after about a second and has always been that way, even on the stock rom before I rooted or flashed VillainRom. An unusual fault though, as I'd bet my bottom dollar it's software related.
That's a fault. People talk about a small (<1 second) delay... Probably < 0.5s
My SGS2 doesn't even take 0.5secs, its almost instantaneous. you should get an exchange.
@OP- 10 seconds are horrible. Though mine also takes >1 second. But I have noticed that when the Phone is charging (AC/USB) it comes up instantly, the lag occurs when the phone is off charge.
Regards.
I have a small lag too. Sometimes up to 3 sec.
Seams to be a software issue.
10 sec sounds strange...
I'm thinking of a lockscreen replacement.
Is there anyone that will remove the lockscreen delay?

[Q] TB random shutdown/battery usage issue

So, Here's a little back story on my TB.
I've been rooted for over 1.5 yrs and have had no issues until this past month or so.
Running Froyo 2.2 on stock HTC. No ROMs.
Haven't changed anything and haven't loaded any games since I got my Nexus 7.
At work I leave the phone in the cradle on charge, especially when I try to use Wifi.
So the issue at hand.
It does not matter what app I use, OpenGarden, Camera, Video maybe a game or 2. Seems to be the more high end apps that cause the problem.
When I start these apps, not together, it will work for a while (on full battery) then the phone will shut down.
I'll restart and the battery will show as 1/8 to 1/5 charge.
I have changed batteries and it will still do the same shut down.
I haven't tried a restore or a re-root. Haven't touched in a long time and don't want to mess it up. I originally rooted the long method then went through the Revolutionary Easy Root and have been there ever since.
Any general ideas as to why these apps are sucking my battery dry? It is just a weird scenario and haven't found similar issues with a rooted phone.
Or should I take the plunge and get the Samsung Galaxy S III (and root with ICS)?
I really love the TB, but it is getting slow, especially compared to running apps on the Nexus 7.
Try updating to the latest ruu.

Thanks.
Can you point to the latest RUU and instructions?

Try this site. I don't know if it works or not.

Also can try cleaning battery terms and making sure they're all out and straight. When battery amp draw goes higher, I could see that causing the phone to freeze or reboot from amps/volts being too low. Just something to try before unrooting with an ruu...
Already checked the terminals. Happened with several batteries.
OK. So I noticed the anomalous shutdown recently and actually found what the problem was. I had installed Ninja Royale and Blood Brothers, but never actually ran them since I've been running them on my Nexus7.
On the N7 I was noticing short jumps to the start splash screen of these games during game play. So I decided to UnInstall them from the TB and now no longer have any random shutdowns or battery crunch and reboots.
Might be a combination of Froyo on the TB and a newer game, but this seems to have worked.
The N7 seems to be able to handle the load and the jumpi-ness of the splash screen and the battery holds up as well.
So, my fix was to uninstall Ninja Royale and Blood Brothers from the TB to fix the reboot issue.
I was having similar problems. Ended up replacing the battery.

Screen flickering madness

I got my 920 today and I'm quite happy with it. However I'm facing a weird issue. My screen is noticeably flickering. At first I tried to restart the phone a few times, and at last with a soft reset I got rid of it in some areas (eg the unlock screen) but in some others (typing an address in the browser, typing into Bing search) it's still there, even tho it's not very noticeable anymore. However I'm quite picky so it annoys me a bit, also I don't think it's fair that I have to use a phone behaving this way. Anybody else having this? Workarounds of any sort? Otherwise I guess this guy is going back to the store...
Edit: I found out that this issue pretty much comes and goes randomly, I happen to have it for a few hours then it goes away, so on so forth. I really don't know if I'll ever be able to get the phone replaced if the issue is so hard to be reproduced.
Same intermittent problem

You're not going crazy as I have the same issue with my 920. It is VERY intermittent and probably happens about once every 3 weeks I guess.
I'll wake the phone to check it and it seems that the display is not working fully and looks interlaced and flickering. No loss of functionality and when I put it to sleep and wake it up a few times it's fine and back to normal. Appears to be an intermittent issue with either the display or drivers but no way to reproduce unless you separately take a video/photo of the screen when it is in this state when you are returning it to the store for an exchange. For me it doesn't happen enough to really worry me although it is slightly annoying...

Man, this is driving me nuts. I noticed it does it every time the phone reaches a somewhat hotter temperature (like body temperature, a couple minutes of usage normally) or when it's plugged. When the battery is 100% loaded it usually stops, but then after a few minutes it comes back, very annoying. Since it does it like 90% of the time I guess the guys at the shop will notice it, when I'm at max brightness it's like a freaking strobe, I can't take this any longer, makes my head ache. One thing I also noticed is the fact that the lowest light setting available is still way brighter than when on auto in a dark room: low looks more like medium, so to speak. Is this ok?
Today I'm bringing it back to the shop anyway, I'll keep you posted.
Update: I got my phone replaced. We had to open 3 boxes before finding a non flickering one, insane. For the last try I decided to open a white one and it was flawless, weird...
Are you guys in cold areas or keep your phones in cold areas? By cold I mean under 65 F. I have noticed in certain types of LCD's that if they are cold they seem to slow in refresh rate. Try warming your phone up and see if it gets better.

Not really my case I guess, actually the phone kept acting up even after an hour usage, so it was plenty hot. No problems with new one so far, fingers crossed...

[Q] S3 Possibly Broken?

My S3 has I think started dieing on me. It was mainly when playing games but can happen randomly now, especially more so when I play games (which I now don't!). The screen starts to 'flicker', the picture remains but it's like the light across the screen flickers and then if it crashes (most of the time) and I reboot the phone the battery is nearly non existent. If the phone doesn't crash/reboot the signal is gone so it stops being a phone until I reboot.
Is this a case that the phone is broken? I'm not going to repair if so but if it's something I can easily fix then I'd like to do so!
I've flashed a couple of different ROMs as I thought that may be the case at first but it's the same on all I've tried.
I had to get the USB repaired recently as it stopped charging so I'm wondering if the phone is just on it's way out, which is disappointing as I've kept it in mint condition and it's only like 18 months old!
Replace the battery first.
Thanks I'll give that a try!
