Hi I have an unrooted. Xperia play and despite several attempts to root I've had no luck I tried doing thd "unlock bootloader and flash software but lost signal and constant force close, then I tried a OTA update and bricked but Got it back on all working and tried Gingerbreak but just get constant swirling circle then I tried z4 and it just kicks me out of the App after running it for a few minutes. Is there any easy way to root, along the lines of z4 idea. any advice would be great thanks in advance.

I have this problem that has occured aobut 4 times while updating to froyo. It gets into installing the file then the progress bar stops. After about 20 minutes of nothing it restarts and tells me I have IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED and a CODE: 410. I researched it and found alot of people who had this problems rooted their phone. Unfortunately, I didn't root my phone in fears of breraking it -oh the irony- . Does anyone know any fixes to my dilemma?
are you trying OTA or manual update.zip install from samsung recovery?
perhaps one way would work better than the other.. not certain, just a thought
I installed Gingerstreak 2.4.4 a couple days ago and so far so good. Only problem is I can't reinstall my corp email app (Good for Enterprise) because my device shows up as "rooted". Is there a way to "unroot" the device without downgrading?
Run gingerbreak, it can unroot if you're already rooted
Cool thanks. I'm having trouble running Gingerbreak but I think I know the fix. Just have to wait until I get home so I can plug it in and work on it.

I have a GT-7510(WiFi) and I flashed the USA version- ICS recently, but I get a problem when rooting it, as it keeps scrolling when I open the recovery mode, I found a solution to this problem, which is to install the bootloader from here:

but when flashed it, it worked perfectly, with the root, until I locked the screen, it gets blurry, and to get that off, I have to reboot it again, so I reset it to factory setting and tried 3 different ways, but they still have the same scrolling problem. Any one had such an experience or knows anyway to fix it?

I have had my Droid Incredible 2 rooted for several months now and have not had any issue. I do not have a custom ROM, just rooted to mainly use the wifi tether app, among other things.
Today, the phone shut itself down and attempted to install a software update. The update stopped after about 2 seconds and switched to the droid with the exclamation point (guessing error) and stayed there until I popped the battery out and rebooted it. Each time I boot the phone, however; it goes through this same process, so my phone is essentially useless at the moment.
I assume the upgrade is not working because of the root. If that is so, how do I go about correcting this problem.

About a month ago my prime seems to have given up the ghost. Lots of ANR and processes stopping for no known reason. At the time I was rooted but still locked, been rooted for a few years. I did a factory reset and now I can't re-setup my google account because as soon as the boot finishes I get unfortunately com.google.process.gapps has stopped message. After the factory reset I rooted this time using DebugfsRoot_Generic_v2.3 and side loaded a root checker, busybox and SuperSU which all recognizes the root. When I try to boot into recovery (stock Android 4.1.1; Build number 10.4.2.18-20121122) I get the fallen down Android with the red triangle of death.
After all this I've decided to unlock and go the custom recovery/custom ROM route. I went to Asus and downloaded the unlock tool. Side loaded it and it installed fine. When I go to run the unlock the app gives the Unfortunatly Unlock Device Tool has stopped message.
I'm not without a tablet. I have a TF700 so I just want to explore so ROM's for the Asus Transformer line. Any suggestions to get my Prime unlocked and setup for customization would be great.
