If you are wanting to flash any of the 2.3.4 ROMs you need to SBF to 2.3.4. Read the tutorial and follow the steps there.....

Im an idiot sorry
Im sorry for typing this so confusing. After reading the post i went back and reread mine and yes it is very backwards.
but I acutally was unaware that i could just sbf to 2.3.4 so thank you for that little tidbit and also thankyou for the links.

No need to apologize ...I just wanted to male sure everything goes smooth for ya

I looked all over the place, maybe im blind, but i didnt find anything showing me how to get back to stock if i want (undo the adeo 'rom' deodexing and whatnot) so that i can either return the phone, or eventually update to the next official software release when/if it comes out for the atrix.

Can I flash back Froyo after upgrade to Gingerbread?

I'm tired of all the issues with battery and want to downgrade back to 2.2. Is it safe to do from Gingerbread which I have right now?

This is just tells that it's impossible to do with SBF flash. Can this be done via CWM flash instead?
Which GB did you upgrade with? Leaked OTA, Kenneth Penn's, official OTA, etc?

You have not done anything wrong thus far. Which is to say, you haven't burnt a fuse by going to 2.3.4. OTA. As of now, you're capable of reverting back to 1.8.3. without any issues.

I'm assuming you know how to flash? If so, here is the link to all available firmwares:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944
After reading your post again, I realize you probably don't know how to flash...
Go to our wiki (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Motorola_Atrix_4G) and get RSD Lite (search it if you don't see it)
That's the tool you'll use to flash the firmware you pick out from the first link I gave you.

Not at all, from what I understand... you've not updated with the OTA Update. In which chase you're safe from "the point of no return"
waiting for the brick in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..............
If you attempt to flash any froyo sbf that doesnt contain pudding pre-applied, and only after you've unlocked, you might as well throw your phone in the toilet.

If you read the post on Kenneth's thread then you would know that ANY Over The Air, OTA, update would result in a hard brick. If you flash Kenneths ROM, Which this guy did, then it is safe to use RSDLite.
I would recommend pointing him in the appropriate direction rather then saying "waiting for the brick" since you do display knowledge of knowing what to do.
From kenneths thread about Hard Bricks!
How can I avoid this Brick?
You can avoid bricking your device by not flashing any over-the-air updates to Android 2.3.4. Instead, try flashing the 2.3.4 zip over here. Or, flash the pure stock images from here.
So is it safe or not to downgrade ROM? Say, can I just download GingerBlur (http://briefmobile.com/gingerblur-rom-for-atrix-4g) and install it using CWM with no repricussions?
I never updated any OTA updates and right now on unlocked bootloaders and Kenn's Gingerbread
Ok, Since everyone rather comment on how not to do it but not point you in the right direction then I will give you the link to a place that is a safe alternative for you.
But first I want to ask you if you tried to flash any other ROM like "Ninja v0.4.5" by samcripp or "Alien" by kenneth? The Alien ROM has the battery fix with it so it is safe and battery life lasts awhile. When I say awhile I mean I did not charge my phone two days and dropped to 30% in a 48 hour period. There is a script by Juggernaut that you can flash to any ROM that fixes the battery spike issue.
But if you rather go backwards to FroYo then here is a link with directions to flash, a new method, Fruit cakes! it's a safe alternative and you flash it through CWM never using RSD ever again. Fruit cakes
If you have any questions I would either ask here or ask on the Fruitcake thread.
HAPPY FLASHING!!!!
A
Thanks. That worked. I'm now on Froyo but still having battery issues. Problem is that Fruitcakes does not contain radio image and I'm still on GB radio. How do I downgrade radio? I don't beleive there is CWM packages for that. If I find radio.img for Froyo can I downgrade it safely via RSD or fastboot without possibility of bricking my phone?
If you have any questions I would either ask here or ask on the Fruitcake thread.
HAPPY FLASHING!!!![/QUOTE]
Well I did some searching and I can only find two threads that are relatively close to a radio on FroYo.. Only difference between our stock ATT and these two are international/tweaked radios.
Tweaked ATT radio
French modded radio

You can always hard brick your phone when you're in RSD; loss of connection between phone & PC, power outage, anything that disrupts the process = (more or less 100% of the cases) hard brick

And for that very reason I try to not SBF my phone unless there's no other way. CWM and fastboot work perfectly fine. Besides that, my main PC is a desktop.
Loss of power = brick. That's why I only use RSD off of laptop.

Yep, straight up flash to Gingerbread.
I don't think I will be using this sbf.
Thank you! This can only help further development for our phone!
So... Would the pre-rooted Gingerbread update.zip work on this? I am a bit confused. Keeping Froyo SBF for now, but thanks!
This will end up with a locked bootloader and no root access. This update is somewhat pointless unless you are having warranty issues.

If you use this you will have to sbf back to 2.2.2, root, bootstrap and load the prerooted version to get root back, until someone mods gingerbreak for this phone, or makes an entirely new root exploit program

I thought that after I wrote that. I just didn't want to man up and own up to it after making that kind of brash statement... I guess I did by posting this.
It's cool. The first thought through my head was "He only has 61 posts and joined in April of this year. Is this legit?"
I am sure the devs here will pick it apart and let us know if anything is wrong, but that is how things get released from what I have seen. They just appear in the most unlikely post. Thanks OP.
The sbf file is 455MB. The filesonic site charges $9 for any file above 400MB. Any chance we could get the file hosted somewhere else that would not charge for it? I would love to have it, but I am not paying $9 for it. I already have an sbf for 2.2.2
All you have to do is reflash it, then your phone picks up 2.3.3 via over the air update.
I think this happened when the 2.2.2 sbf was released. Someone posted it on a site that charged for large downloads. Then someone else posted the same sbf on a free site.
Could we do this with this GB sbf?

Just to clarify. So no one is confused. What you pay for is bandwidth, if you CHOOSE to become a premium member of Filesonic.
My files are free to download. My user settings are set to 1GB max for free users. The 400MB limit always appears if you are not a premium member. But if you TRY to download it first, like most people do, you will find out that you can.
Thanks. Sorry to confuse anyone. I should keep my confusion to myself...

[Q] Not sure as to how to get GB 2.2.4 from Eclipse v 0.8.1 on GB 2.2.3

I just wanna make sure that I don't do something stupid and end up bricking my phone or something. I have the Eclipse v0.8.1 and I want to at least get v1.0 which requires GB 2.3.4. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankssss!
Ur probably looking for the Q and A section of the forum not Development and if you read the first 4 or 5 posts from the General section and use the search option there is almost a guarantee you'll have everything you need.
Indeed. Questions go in general/Q&A, Development goes in Development.
You are going to have to sbf to 2.3.4(or 2.3.3 and take the OTA)
Then root again and your good to install latest eclipse.
Check the sticky posted by booked in dev section at top for files needed.
and tutorial sticky by moonshadow in general section on how to sbf.
looks more complicated than it actually is....longest part is downloading files and installing programs.
SBF to 2.3.4 or take the OTA. Then root then flash whatever version you want.

Any version after 8.1 that is.....
I think it would create problems to flash 8.1 or earlier on top of 2.3.4 kernel.

Also I want to add I have YET to see anyone with am x2 actually "hard brick" their phone. U gotta really be trying to brick it to do that
Worst I've seen is people trying to sbf with low batteries and the flash fails. Then they get a charged battery and all is well.
After u sbf u will most likely bootloop(since running a rom beforehand I have usually bootloop after sbf) but this happens often to lots of people and a simple data wipe from the stock Android recovery fixes the problem and sends u on you way...
any questions feel free to pm me

the 2.3.5 SBF kinda doesn't make sense right now unless you want to stick with it cause you can't root it. You have to root 2.3.4 then apply the rootkeeper and then get to 2.3.5 via OTA update or flash via recovery.
