Not sure if the last update to the facebook app caused this but Facebook has been keeping my phone from going into sleep state. Even after force closing it, it seems to re-open and drain my battery by keeping my phone awake. I uninstalled facebook as a temporary solution.
Anyone else have this problem? Any solution?

What is the setting you currently using? (rom, kernel, radio)
I have the same problem and I go to manage applications and force stop facebook everytime I open Facebook page. Or you can reboot the phone.
The official facebook app is a steaming pile of crap. I ditched it for Friendcaster and my battery life has improved dramatically.

Search the web for version 1.6.4 Facebook apk. I have found that this is the most stable and efficient version (from before Facebook app started its regression the garbage it is now.

Hmm, i downloaded Facebook app update from the market today and noticed that my phone stays awake even when screen is off, as well as Facebook app running continuously even if i force close it. My phone is not rooted and all the other apps running in the background are the usual apps that didn't keep my phone awake previously. Can anyone who downloaded latest update confirm that ? I believe Facebook is the culprit.

Thanks for mentioning this, have just gone into settings and made it a manual refresh with no notifications. Open facebook, tap top left , then press menu, settings.

Ok, so i froze few apps through TB to save on battery. (like Buddies now,Wifi sharing, Reading hub, Samsung apps etc.). And then I installed OS monitor from the market to monitor the processes running. To my surprise, I see Buddies now and Samsung apps running at least once every 10-15 seconds. I have uninstalled Buddies now through TB as well. But the process still seems to be running.
Can anybody verify this. ? No wonder I am getting crappy battery life. I am on rooted stock rom.
Is it that i have not frozen some associated apps which is leading to this ?
Cheers
Ashish
Have you rebooted your device?

You should only freeze those which causes wake from deep sleep. You need to see what apps/processes are running on background with the help of application Better Battery Stats and see under Partial Wakelocks. I, for myself have frozen nothing because I don't have anything which causes any major wakes.
Besides, if you are on KF3 then there shouldn't be any Wifi sharing problem. Also Samsung app also doesn't involve in wake situations.
Regards.
I have pretty much frozen all Samsung bloatware that is ok to freeze and battery life is vastly superior now compared to what it was beforehand, i also froze Maps as i don't use it much and some other apps i don't use much if i need to use them it takes a few seconds to defrost them and there you go.
I am on KF3 and the only battery eating thing has been:
"Software Update Service (com.wssyncmldm)"
So I froze it and presto twice the battery life of what I had before.
I sometimes use MAPS with Lattitude. But when I am done I explicitly log out of lattitude, or out goes the power.... as it will keep running in the background.
BTW I use the FREE Anttek App manager to freeze stuf, works great!

Thanks linux monkey, rebooting solved the issue, didnot know you need to reboot after freezing for it to take effect.
Cheers

Im running HydrogenICS with Siyah, never had troubles with that kernel with any rom. No batterydrain or anything. But after the new FB app update its been draining my battery. Plus ive added exchange to my mails now and moved my Gmail from Gmail app to the stock mail app. Theres no push alternative there for the gmail so its on 1hr update.
Any thoughts? First day running this rom+kernel combo. But usually after a day like this, its supposed to be at 70%. It was quite hot during music playing with poweramp (no wifi connection available). I usually use home button to exit apps, not back button.
In short:
1. Facebook app drain, version 1.9.0 with camera app and messenger app.
2. Exchange drain.
3. Whats causing it? or how to prevent it!
fb is active app so itsrunning in the background....well u can stop using the apps tht drains, avoid alwayz using home bttn ,instead use task manager an kill unwanted apps....and turn off auto sync
To be honest that isn't normal unless when you go to facebook application and click menu and settings. Then you will find a screen where it tells you when it will refresh, e.g. "every 30 minutes, hour, 2hours, 3 hours and 4hours. So if its 30 minutes, I believe that's what could be causing the drain.
If all of that doesn't fix it, try uninstalling the application and installing it again (if you haven't done so already :])
Have a good day :] And good luck with the battery drain :/
Lately for some reason, google+ has been draining my battery with more than 30-50% of my battery usage being it. My phone is constantly hot and according to the battery screen it is not allowing my phone to sleep...any fixs for this? I have never once opened this app until today...

Have you tried clearing cache/data on the App then reinstalling it?
How do I clear the apps data and cache? I'm still a noob with this phone. I uninstalled all the updates and still has the same problem. Should I reupdate? Obviously its a system app I can't delete it.

Go into Settings -> Application Manager, then find the Google+ app, and from there you Clear App Data and Cache (just scroll down a bit, it's below where you would uninstall the updates, etc)

OK. This wakelock is absolutely killing my battery. My phone won't go into a deep sleep because of it.
I am running RomAur 3.7 with included kernel
Stamina Mode (Only whitelisted apps are SMS, Gmail, Twitter and Words with Friends)
Extended Standby
Despite the Stamina Mode, the wakelock persists.
Can someone please shed some light on this wakelock and what I can do to stop it? There have been a couple threads in the past about it, but no definitive answer to stop it. Thank you in advance for any assistance with the one thing that is stopping me from enjoying this excellent phone.
Google apps and social apps usualy kill your battery
Try removing those
