Hi,
I want to unlock the bootloader, but in the n00b guide everything is for 2.3.4
I am in 2.2.2 (4.2.11.retail.en.FR) and I tried to update in the settings but it told me that my device is updated.
So, how can i update to 2.3.4? I want to updated with the Stock Gingerbread Rom via fastboot. But i need to have the bootloader unlocked....
How can I do it?
Thank you
You should be able to flash any sbf. Seeing as how the only way you brick is by going backwards. Look on that forum again and there is a link to a seperate website which will tell you how to do it on either version.

Anyone know if you can using pudding after using the OTA 4.5.91 ATT Gingerbread update?
A lot of bricking going on so I didn't want to flash anything without verifying first.
Otherwise does anyone know if you can regain root with the locked bootloader?

Yes, I used pudding afterwards, but preinstall method works on locked BL. Bell users have used it
Yep just what jruweaver said. Preinstall flash works great. Rooted and locked rocking 4.5.91.

Jruweaver,
Im am on stock OTA 2.3.4 via update.zip in android recovery.
Not rooted, nor have I ever run any pudding/unlock flash.
Am I stuck on OTA? Concerned because I don't want to RSD flash and hard brick.

You can now only use the sbf's that have been custom made with pudding otherwise you will hard brick.

I know this is posted probably somewhere but, how do you unlock your bootloader and flash roms, and still be able to flash back to 1.83 or even 1.26, and also be able to get OTA updates. Thanks (first time dealing with a Android bootloader)

Use pudding to unlock bootloader, and Kenneth Penn's 4.5.91 to go to GB. Can flash back from this. If you subsequently flash the upcoming OTA, you most likely won't flash back, as Moto has tried to prevent flashing back with the latest upgrade.

I have a rooted Atrix on Official at&t 2.3.4 OTA.
bootloader locked
webtop unavailable.
I read you can flash gingerbread on top of this OTA? is this true?
can I use rsd to flash back to a clean copy of gingerbread or will I hard brick?
please point me to the correct thread....
Me too
I want to know too.. Except mine is unlocked and rooted on Stock GB
Can I "Clean Format" GB
If you're on 2.3.4 OTA then you're on gingerbread. What are you wanting to do?

SO if I flash the leaked 2.3.4 on top of my OTA 2.3.4 with RSD it wont brick? I'm guessing itll just reinstall?
Edit: All I want to know is if I can flash the leaked version on top of the OTA withou bricking so this way I can unlock the BL and get some ROMS....I just dont want to end up using RSD to flash 2.3.4 and end up with a paper weight
Hi. Iam on ota 2.3.4. Do you need to unlock the bootloader in order to obtain root, & teathering? Also after i unlock the bootloader is there a rom that has root and teathering included without having to use adb commands? Rooting was easy on 2.2 but there seems to be alot more steps to root 2.3.4

Use preinstall root to gain root (eval gave script commands. Just copy and paste) unlock is not required. There are a few roms but not too many with built in root. I only know of kens gingerbread build

i believe the OTA update to 2.3.4 officially unlocks the bootloader.... someone may have to confirm.
you will not need to unlock bootloader in order to get root. they are independent.

No.
2.3.4 instead of unlocking the BP it updates it. And if you unlock and then flash sbf with older version of BP(1.8.3 or older), you will get a hard brick!!!
They didn't unlocked the BP officially.
Unlocking became from a leaked version of their 2.3.4 update!
See pudding thread in dev section for info.
Agree with root and unlocking.

Recently i returned to stock OS, 2.3.4 and then i downloaded the official 2.3.6 update from Motorola official update page and installed the update via CWM recovery. And my device is relocked and successfully booted into 2.3.6 stock gingerbread. But i cant find any visible difference in the OS. Not even a slight change in the status bar. But the app versions and system version has been changed to 2.3.6. Hmm well is this same for everyone? Or i did anything wrong?

When you unlock the bootloader there is a fuse in hardware which blows out. So there is no way of relocking. When you updated it just removed the unlocked text from the boot screen. When you used the sbf method it just brought back the unlocked text.
