Does anyone know if USB on the Go is supported on the Xperia Mini Pro and if so can you use a USB thumb drive for extra storage for times when your away from your pc.
I am not able to test it myself as I do not have a micro USB OTG Adapter.
But in the system apps of the SE firmware is an USBOTG.apk, so i suppose it should work...
So can anyone confirm this please?
It's not supported until the new firmware (2.3.4) is released. This is confirmed from SE to have OTG. Nothing said about thumbdrives though, only keyboard, mouse etc.
There is a usbotg.apk in the system/app folder so maybe it is already supported. I've ordered a micros usb to female usb adaptor ... not sure if it will work but it was cheap ... I'll post as soon as it arrives and I've tested it...
usb-otg doesn't support in stock kernel for now.
When i connected usb device to SK17, it displays "unsupported device connected."
But DoomKernel with add modules can support.
modules are here.

Maybe this will work with Mini Pro's USB port cause they seem to fit each other and don't need any trimming :
But I'm wondering if I can use external keyboard/mouse with this cable or just USB stick as a guy said in his review on DX ?

same question for RAY. Ray support USB storage?
I've tested Samsung Micro-USB-Adapter (ET-R205U) on Ray (Ginger 2.3.4 stock), this week and NO result with Sandisk Cruizer 2GB USB flash drive.
Mouse and Keyb's works fine but no external usb mass storage yet.
As much as i know, Samsung uses some wired way of connecting pins ans so, their cables can't be used with other phones, and no other cables but ones made by Samsug (or made for Samsung) can't be used with their phones. Some Nokia cables/adapters can be used for some SE phones. Didn't test any but I'm also interested for solution.
Have this cable. It's self-made, but absolutely working. Mouses, keyboards and other (wired and wireless) is working fine, phone also support some custom keys on advanced keyboards. USB Flash is working with Q5 Memory Manager App. Some custom kernels disrupt several features of OTG, so be warned!
I've tried usb to go on flash drive on the original kernel and the rage kernel and couldn't get it to recognise it even with Q5 .. maybe I am doing something wrong ?
Rage kernel isnt support Flash memory. It's probably work ONLY in KRSH kernel, but it's not support mouses and other stuff Awaiting of lastest updates...
There is an app called "USBOTG STORAGE MANAGER for ARC". It recognise my kingston 4gb flash drive and works like a charm with my Xperia Mini on stock kernel.

I found this application in markert https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skidmrk.umswatcherotg that let you mount and read any usb storage device whatever its format , I tried it and I got my 1tb NTFS hard drive to show on my tab , it works with sd cards and portable usb flash drives
I cannot get this app to work for the life of me on SGT 10.1 [P7500] With ICS CM9.
I have tried anything and everything, all with no success.
This app just seems to hang in ICS. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Tried this app on ICS, but it doesn't even load up - it says I need to download a newer version of busybox, then it freezes at around 96-99% of downloading it.
It seems to partially work (it read some of my FAT thumb drives) but it didn't read my 2TB NTFS USB disk. Still hoping to get it to work somehow

are you guys talking about external hard drives (lets say 1tb) with a power source or just straight up usb powered?
I was under the impression that our tabs can only read NSF drives that have an AC power source as appose to power by usb from the tab.
I was thinking about purchasing this drive but not sure if the tablet will read it.. I know my laptop would obviously.

Other than the Samsung USB connection kit you can go eBay and search cheaper one. I got one USB adapter with SD card slot together.
Works for me
This app totally solved my problem (using galaxy tab as a car computer). Now I can mount a large capacity hard drive full of all my music.
THIS IS THE EASIEST SOLUTION FOR ME,WHAT U NEED IS JUST A ROOTED PHONE!
This is a solution for all 2011 xperia phones.First you must root your device correctly.after that you need to download and install the app from the link below.that's all.Now connect your usb storage device by using otg cable.App will automatically mount your usb device to folder called "USB Storage" in your SD card root. This app also supports USB hard drives too.But keep on your mind to supply external power to your hard drive.I have tested this with many 2011 xperia phones with rooted stock firmware and it worked just soo fine.it also work with new ics update too.but you need have root access with it too.
This app is called USB Storage Manager for ARC but it works fine with other 2011 xperia devices too.Q5 manager is a another app gives usb otg support, but it is not working with some devices sometimes. It also cant automatically mount your usb device.Because this app is better than it.
"This app is paid app and it is just created for xperia arc.because i have created this apk,why you cant use play store to bye it for other devices. This link for just trying this and this is not for illegal use.If this thing is useful just dont forget to bye it and support developer."(using play store from your PC)

Very Helpful ! ............ Thanks
I just got the USB OTG cable I ordered. It detects keyboard and mouse just fine and they work, but how do I view the contents of the USB flash drive I attached? Will it be in the form of a folder?
I also tried attaching a USB dualshock gamepad (generic) and it doesn't seem to register on Gameboid (when I set keymaps).
Currently, I'm using Rage Kernel + MiniCMSandwich Lite. Anybody have ideas they can share to help me get these to work?
It should be inside sdcard directory n will be appear in folder named usbstorage.

i've been testing so many flash drive 2gb up to 32gb, and i said not all flash drive can be mount, maybe it's due to the flash drive which want higher voltage, i can mount 16gb or 32gb toshiba flash drive without proble, but when i try 8gb from another vendor let say it 'team', it just detect but cant be mount. so my suggestion just read the label when u wanna buy a new flash drive n make sure it can be operate under 4-6volt
Hello

plz help me as quickly as possible .... because i hate this
And you reinstalled drivers from falshtool?

I tried to reinstall the driver from the flashtool folder, but that didnt work
AFAIK if the flash tool doesn't recognize your phone, there is an option to manually define it.

So what happens when you connect it to PC, turned off and what when it's turned on? What show up in device manager?
What happens in flashtool when you connect turned on phone and what when turned off(while holding back key, or menu key)? Preferably show log.
Is your phone even starting?
Flashing kernel didnt need enter the recovery...flashing kernel always through fastboot or flashtool..
My question is do you unlocked your bootloader?
And try change your USB cable

I bought a sandisk 128GB dual usb drive with the assumption that it will work as a OTG usb for my Note 3, but every time I plug it into the phone, it would say "USB mass storage connected", then immediately it would say "USB mass storage removed safely".
I installed Stickmount, stickmount says that it has mounted it, but I can not find it anywhere using Root Explorer.
bump
Have you tried looking in the /mnt/ folder? It might not be called by a standard name. You can open the /mnt folder in ES Explorer (or whatever file browser you use) and see what shows up. Then install your drive and refresh to see what the drive is called.
I've always used Stickmount (though you need root) and rarely have problems mounting storage - I don't know if it's still required!
32gb sandisk
I use the 32gb dual USB on my rooted note 3 and it runs fine without having to install any additional apps to enable it. Could it be the size that's causing the issue?

Hello, I'm using a 64 Gb Sandisk Ultra Dual and it works fine. I suppose you should check if you changed its format type. In case it is a fat32 it must work so ask for a refund or change... Not a matter of Gb, since I purchased a 200 Gb lexar microsd and also tried it as otg with no issues...

Assuming the drive was new when you plugged it in it should be somewhere in the directory.. The only time I had issues similar to this was after a changed the format to EXFAT over FAT32
one question on this SANDISK Flash Drive Ultra Dual Drive 128 GB
it's possible to create two partitions: one for use with the notebook , the other as an external sd phone and install a second rom to do as dual boot ?
