Trying to root using Terminal Emulator - Motorola Photon 4G

Hey all, Im trying to get root back after doing a hard reset so I can push the original build.prop file to /system so I can install the latest update. I modified it and forgot to make a backup. Im getting a permissions denied when i run the command /bin/tar xf /data/tmp/photon-torpedo.tar Anyone know why its doing this and how to get around it?

Try transferring with adb push prior to the steps via terminal emulator .
For me your screen shots are illegible.

I am actually probably the most stupid person here.. i forgot to install superuser app :O I got it working. And just an fyi, after pushing photon-torpedo.tar to /data/tmp, it actually stays there so no need to run adb again.

I believe that is what happens when the phone gets an OTA update and then reboots to apply the update. Pull the SD Card and see if there are any files in the root of the card that might be causing this.
The phone isn't activated on the verizon. I removed the sd card and tried again and its still stuck on that screen.

Did you buy it used? If so, it doesn't appear to be an OS on the phone. You'll need to grab the ruu and flash the latest. Let me know if I'm headed down the right path.

A guy gave it to me to tinker around with.. Thanks for the help, and I'm gonna format the card to fat32 and then put one on there.

Still not leaving that screen. Is it fixable? The phone isnt able to be read by the pc either. Is there a program that I can use to get into hboot through ubuntu?

[Q] Application not installed

Other people have it installed, why i cant? Im using SGS v.7 ROM, should i install it on system/app or something or i really dont know, i hope you can help me!
It should work, are you installing it before the other apps.
Try moving it to system/app and setting the permissions to rw-r-r

You have to install readers hub on your internal storage. To do this copy your file via root explorer into /system/app.
Then you choose the apk by tapping it for some seconds.

A new window appears and you have to choose permissions.
Now you put ticks in the first two spots in the first line, in the first spot of the second line and in the first spot of the third line. The other spots have to be empty. Should look like this:
Then you have to reboot. You don't have to install the app. Just reboot and the app will be installed after the next reboot
thank you it worked for me

Trying to flash Eclipse rom on my buddies x2 and getting error

My friend purchased an x2 recently and I rooted it for him. I put bootstrap recovery on it. It has android v2.3.5 build 418. I'm following the instructions on the Eclipse thread to install the rom and im getting an error and the rom install is aborted. I downloaded the zip twice to make sure it wasn't a bad download the first time.

One thing that Shadow has reminded people many times over is that if you use Voodoo over the air rootkeeper you will need to remove the su backup or the install will fail.

Worked like a charm. I feel retarded haha! Thanks!

no reason to create a su backup anymore
there is a 2.3.5 sbf, and magic md5 root
not like moto is going to push anymore updates

How to recover ZU

I have some doubts about recovering our lost phone
1. Shall I need to give device administration permission for all of these apps or default google's "android device manager " is enough?
2. Can we still trace our phone if somebody rob and flash the phone?

Using Odin to flash Sprint stock rom back to Note 4

I had recently rooted my Note 4. I am wanting to get rid of the existing kernel and put the default one back. Anyway, I tried using Odin to flash the tar file to the phone. I consistently am getting a failed message. The last notation in the log after failed is the word auth in parentheses.
I just read online that when I run the Odin program, I am supposed to right click and tell it to run as administrator. I have not been doing that. Is that what is causing my problem?

Above is the screen capture of what I'm receiving while trying to flash the stock rom using odin on a Windows 10 pc.
I've made sure to run Odin as Administrator, and I made sure that Reactivation Lock is off on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Can someone with experience please help me out here? Much thanks.
