My x10 is bricked and won't boot past the Sony Ericsson screen. I have trouble getting it to turn on at all, it takes a weird combination of removing the battery and holding whatever keys. All I know is that it won't turn on unless I take out the battery, put it back in, hold the volume buttons, and press power. If i'm lucky, the phone will vibrate, and seconds later I'll have the SE screen. If there is no usb plugged in, it will go to recovery. I cannot, to save my life, get this phone into flash mode. I had it like an hour ago, but for some reason flashtool got stuck on reading device information, and I couldn't get it back into flash mode since then. Can someone help?

try out the REPAIR option in SEUS or PC companion.
(also to get into flash mode follow the following steps in the same order as mentioned below :
1. remove battery and plug it in.
2. connect the usb to the x10 first.
3. finally connect the other end of the usb cable to the pc holding the back button. )
OR
you can also try out this method too
Okay, I finally got it working. But the problem is that sometimes it just randomly turns off, and doesn't turn back on again. And when it does I'm not sure why. It might be a battery but I've got three of them, and two of them are new. So it shouldn't be that. (BTW, I managed to root it, unlock the bootloader, and install FXP125 7.2 cyanogen mod. It works fine when it's turned on.) It's like it has moments where the phone works perfectly, turning on, being able to get to recovery and flash mode, and moments where it does absolutely nothing.
strange behaviour !
try to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache
or may be you could reinstall clockwork mod nd CM7 once again right from the beginning
also you should let the ROM settle before its regular use.
***EDIT***
i am also on FXP125 CM7 and so far no such behaviour.
Hi all,
after successfully unlocking the bootloader and flashing CyanogenMod 10.1.0 RC2 boot.img via fastboot from Linux, I couldn't manage to boot the tablet again.
I tried several things (Emma, Flashtool, etc.) in order to relock the bootloader and/or flash a stock ROM, but I only could put the device into fastboot mode.
Things are getting possibly worse now: the red notification light is still, I can't neither reboot (pressing Power+VolumeUp for 5 seconds) nor halt (Power+VolumeUp for 10 seconds)...
What a mess! Anyone can suggest me how to fix this situation, please?
Alberto
This is why u shouldn't mess with your tablet.just use it as it came, not worth the hassle

This answer is about as helpful as a heart attack lol
I can assure you that even us dev's run into issues like this, I soft bricked my new tab 5 times today (still trying to figure out this recovery/no recovery thing sony is doing lol).
Aberto, I had/did the exact thing today, first off I'm guessing you have a wifi only like I do right? Those roms/boot imgs won;t work it seems, Im learning as fast as I can so I can get a port for Baked for this tab, I own the wifi only so its my first priority.
Here's what I did, took allot of patience, so be prepared to try a bunch of times!
1. Unplug the usb cable
2. hold both vol + and - (I know this is not documented but stick with me here), then press and hold the power button until the led flashed "white" "3 times" (u will see one white flash, then after about another 20 seconds a second set of white flashes will begin, it will blink 3 times)
3. Plug in the usb cable
4. Make sure you have emma/drivers setup, since this is a windows only (boo!) tool you should here the usb device plug notifiction that it detected the "S1 Service Sony Mobile Communications AB"
This only lasts about 1 minute before it will go back to red led, launch emma and restore a stock image from sony, after its done, unplug the device, and hold power, it should come back to life!
Thanks nycbjr, I tried this morning before getting to work and I could "unlock" the red notification light.
This evening I'll try to get further in the process of resuscitating my tablet.
Thanks for the tips!

Glad I found this topic, but so far I can't get it to work.
Situation is the same I guess, red light, tried to flash the wrong img to my wifi only modell.
When I press all 3 buttons at the same time, the first white blink shows up after about 5secs, then there is a 3 blink sequence also in white after another 3-5secs. If I plugin the usb cable still holding down the buttons, no usb device is recognized, nothing happens..
If I keep holding down the buttons a 3 white blink sequence shows up again, followed by a white/red quick blink, then after 5 secs another 3 white blink sequence starts again, followed by a white7red combo et cetera. As soon as I release the buttons it turns to a constant red again.
Any more ideas or should I just keep trying?

Normally it is the follows:
Hold Vol+ and Power.
1x blink = Reboot (doesn't help you in this case)
after holding it longer
3x blink = Shut down (device is switched off and in a defined state)
Drink a beer
open flash-tool and prepare the firmware to flash
Hold Vol- and plug the device to the computer
If the led turns green the firmware will flash
If not check what the flash-tool says in which state the device is
If the led turns red maybe the battery is to empty?!?
I don't know about the red led, but thanks for the hint.
Pressing only vol down when pluggin in the usb seems to have changed something. I tried power+vol down before but that didn't help.
Now flashtool seems to be working, it says it's flashing, but it seems to take ages. I'll let it keep on working for now (running since 10mins, but after "checking header" and "flashing data" there is no progress anymore...yet). I'll report back
I canceled it after 2h with no progress...damnit.
Does anyone have another suggestion?

With Flashtool it didn't work, but with EMMA it works! YES!
Thanks!
This also saved my tablet's life.

Hi, try flashing again with Emma but use a different USB cable i had a similar issue where the flash started then seemed to freeze so tried a different cable and it worked.
Edit: lol seems i missed your post where you tried again with Emma -_- glad you got it sorted though

you need a big kiss from someone thanks a million :good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
This worked for me, albeit after trying the first part (holding VOL+, VOL- & POWER) intermittently for 2 days.
What seemed to get the table/battery to reset was I connected the USB cable to the charger on a wall outlet on the second day. When I plugged in the cable the Red LED came on and stayed there. After an hour it was still red so I removed the cable and tried 1) pressing VOL+ & POWER (about 3 seconds), then 2) VOL- & POWER (about 3 seconds) and after a while the red LED went off.
Then I tried the VOL+, VOL- & POWER and it started blinking white once, then white again after a while, and I was able to continue with the instructions.
Thanks!
I'm not one to normally start new threads that already have similar posts but I personally cannot seem to find a solution. So heres my scenario:
I have a Sony Xperia Tablet Z SGP311 that I got right after launch. I flashed a custom rom, yada, yada, you know the deal. However, I flashed back to the stock rom and updated it to the latest sony firmware and was running that for the past month. Everything was going good until BAM, my tablet turns off. I thought it had died since I had been watching a video but I remembered it was at 96% when I started using it so I turned it back on and got the screen of the wrench and screwdriver and it would freeze and bootloop. I then used flashtool to flash back to 10.1.C.0.370 and it worked fine, i got it into flashmode and it flashed properly and the tablet worked for a few hours until BAM, back to the wrench and screwdriver bootloop. SO this time i flashed back to the same firmware and used companion to update it to the latest software and that failed and my tablet fails to boot. Not only that I cannot even get it to go into flash mode and here is what happens with various button combos:
Power Button - nothing
Power + volume up - white flash, then triple white flash
If i do power and volume up until the white flash and then move my finger to volume down the LED turns green but only if plugged in, however it doesn't put it into flashmode like it should.
Green light stays on after unplugging.
Red charge light comes on only after hours of being on the charger.
I've tried booting into flashmode, fastboot, just boot on, nothing works even though the LED's are doing SOMETHING. I havent changed what flasthool i've been using and the drivers were working before. I've tried restarting my computer, using different cables, different USB ports.
I am puzzeled on what i should do and wonder if my tablet is bricked, however, I heard that if the white LED comes on and flashes that something can be done about it, but i have no clue on where to go next.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED THANKS!!
hi guys, as i stated in my title, when i charge it keep blinking red led(whenever i charge), won't connect to the pc, and i've charged it for at least 4 hours i have tried evry thing( power+ vol up) and hard reset at sd slot but nothing can change it now
it may got in some water(but not that many times, only rain, etc) and it keep restarting, and wont comeback to life, i can use for a few minutes, and at that time, i cant seem to charge my phone, and when i hard reset (power+up) it keep restarting until this point, and guys, i bring it to xperia care but they seems tobe helpless, i hope you understand what im saying, btw english is my 2nd language
Can you get to FastBoot Mode (With the phone off, plug it into the PC's USB port and immediately press & hold the UP volume key, the LED should go from Red to solid Blue.) If yes, Run Flashtool (installing it first, if necessary) and try to get to Flashmode (With the phone off, plug it into the PC's USB port and immediately press & hold the DOWN volume key, the LED should go from Red to off, but Flashtool will tell you that the phone is connected in FlashMode)
Have you flashed anything? The usual cause for the red flashing LED is by flashing a ROM or Kernel when you haven't unlocked the bootloader first.
OK, there are some ROMs and kernels which can be flashed on a locked bootloader.
Download an FTF for your phone from the FTF repository thread, and flash it using Flashtool.

Before flashing, have you tried charging the phone through your computer's USB? See if that works.
Ok, hi guys... yesterday I misinterpreted some instructions before flashing Rajeev's PureX v4.1 rom... was on Niaboc79's ExistenZ Y v2.6.0... so went on, wiped and factory resetted... then, instead of formatting system/data, I formatted data AND system so obviously now it gets stuck at the Sony logo when booting because it has nothing to boot up and the only way to shut it off is with the small red button on the left side until it vibrates, resets then shuts off...
I then told myself I could simply flash a .FTF back from FlashTool, but alas, not this time... ok, I'm on D6503 Z2 with locked bootloader which is not unlockable... and now, when my phone's off and FlashTool asks to connect phone in flash mode the phone doesn't act as it normally would. when plugging usb cable, instead of the original green led, it quickly shows red, then green then nothing and on flashtool we can now see an error which is shown in the screenshot below.
Drivers are installed and I guess the problem now has to do with the bogus leds as they are the same just trying to connect in flash mode out of FlashTool... I Googled and read a lot about it yesterday on XDA and the only potential answer I could find was telling to flash a .ftf whrough FlashTool which was my first bet anyway but now, I really can't think of anything and would please appreciate your assistance about that... I hate to say this but I must admit what I'm requesting now is some help to get me through my own f*** up, please...
Might be a corrupt .ftf , try downloading another one or build your own with xperifirm+flashtool.
You can also try repairing with sony pc companion app...
Thanks for the quick answer... In fact I tested with 4 different ftfs I know are working... and as I said the problem is with the inability of phone to enter flash mode and its wrong leds when connecting to flash mode; not a software issue... I also tried with PCCompanion but it fails at detecting the phone since it freezes at the Sony logo and doesn't boot anything...
EDIT it also doesn't charge when I plug usb or ac. Instead it quickly toggles leds red, green, none one time and stays off... same way as when I try connecting it to flashmode holding vol-...
I've flashed many sony phones that don't boot / bootloop with flashtool and they always come to life again unless there's hardware problems
You phone is beeing detected in flashtool as beeing in flashmode so it's entering the correct mode. As a last resort i would try flashing on another pc/os , i still think it's pc related... are you using any android emulator on the pc? bluestacks / andy or that kind of stuff?
They cause loader.sin errors too... had that happen once on my work computer, uninstalled bluestacks and flashed fine afterwards.
Sorry i can't think of anything else right now...
I don't have another pc, but I reinstalled a pc backup so it is as when I originally set it up... reinstalled flashtool, reinstalled drivers and launched FlashTool to flash a .FTF. It just did the same as before flashes red, flashes green then nothing but the same errot message in FlashTool... but I noticed one thing, everytime I just plug phone to pc, Flashtool states it's in Flash mode as it is not. it was simply plugged in... and I don't use such as BlueStacks... and anyway the phone's leds react wrongly first then the asked action, flashing, cannot be applied hence the error message in FlashTool... thanx for your help...
I'm really used to flashing stuff and I know my mistake now was to format the system partition. From that time, it became impossible to flash any .ftf and the only info, signal I've got is the led quickly displaying red then green led intead of just green then starting to flash, when cable is plugged in, holding VOL-...
Damn formatting the system partition should not hard-brick your phone bro i've done exactly the same mistake on my also unlockable BL Z2 a long time ago, wiped everything and rebooted the phone without flashing the rom xD phone would only show sony logo (can't remember led status) but it flashed normally and came back to life. maybe you got really really unlucky and your bootloader got messed up somehow :| You already did everything i would have done without success, i'm also out of ideas... but xda is full of great minds, maybe someone else can help you better.
You are absolutely right... I had done the same mistake on my xperia T, a while back, and a simple flash from flashtool had taken care of it... I don'T even come to ask for help, usually... when I mess things up, I have always succeeded in bringing the thing back to life... until now...
thanx a lot for your help.
EDIT: Oh, even worse now... when flashtool is done preparing the FTF to be flashed and asks to plug in phone holding VOL-, I tried just plugging the phone WITHOUT holding any button and it did the exact same error I screenshotted earlier, with same red/green/none scheme... So computer really sonsiders phone to be in flashmode from the moment it's plugged in...
No problem, wish i could help more. It does seem like your phone is stuck on fastboot or flashmode. If you just power on the phone and connect it to pc (no flashtool running) does your pc device manager detect your phone? what device does it detect? If you connect in fastboot mode (vol up + plugin usb cable) what do you see in the device manager? Maybe try completely discharging your phone, leave it powered on for a day or so until the battery dies completely, maybe it'll "reset" to normal mode? Just throwing some ideas now, at least we're keeping the thread alive, maybe someone more expert will look at it too
Why you guys quoting every post? Makes it tedious scrolling on mobile.
@rubiicon59 old habits lol xD i edited my posts and removed the quotes, since no one else is participating in the thread they aren't really needed...

first, sorry for the late answer... ok,,, when I only plug usb cable into phone, it is not detected... However, I can boot into fastboot and then it's detected in device manager as in the screenshot below... But, it does flash red just before turning blue for fastboot... just the same quick red flash as when I plug USB in...

Just a quick tip- don't use the red button, it is only for emergency and it is annoying to open the flap everytime. Instead, use the Power + Volup and hold for a few seconds.
WOW! reallly can'T say why it didn't work first time, but I tried reinserting sd card and retake it out, started one last time to flash a .ftf and it worked.... Great, now back on my backup... everything working as it should now....
thanx to @BlAckXpeRia for the reminder tip... Red button should only be used when everything else failed to shut the phone down...
and of course, thanks to @ptmaniac for your help all along these stressful last 2 days... THANKS!!!
oh yeah, SOLVED
Nice!! i really really like this phone, i would be very sad if it died on me like that, good to hear you got your phone back
