One small question please.
Since the camera has a resolution of 3264x2448 is there a way to change the orientation, so as to keep the phone upright while recording in landscape?
Thanks.

hey everyone i noticed this morning that the resolution of recording video in my sgs2 was adjusted in 720 p and when i tried to record in 1080 p i noticed something weared the camera after pressing record and shooting some frames acts like auto focus where i move the cam to any object and i noticed this action (auto focus while recoding)doesnt happend in any other resolution except 1080
sorry for my english i hope you could imagine or understand what i want to say or describe
any ideas ?
Why when recording video at Full HD the angle of view changes ?
The higher the video resolution the narrower the field of view becomes.
Of course the lens is prime so is it using only the center of the sensor ?
thanks
zoom - wide
when recording video at 1080p the lens becomes zoom.
when recording video at low resolutions or just using the camera for photos it becomes wide lens.
have you noticed it ?
A thought I made was that because the lens is prime it crops from the center of the sensor for HD video. But what's the reason to do something like this? Easier CPU processing ?
any thoughts ?
And talking about the video ...
Is there a possibility (mod or app) to record video with the screen off ???
camera noise
I don't know about the screen but I am glad they silence the camera's shutter sound when the phone is at silent mode with the new official update.
There was someone that enabled a no-zoomed mode in the camera app. But that made you lose 720p recording, as he had to change the 720p mode into 1080p "wide" recording. Maybe someone knows what I'm talking about and has the apk for you.
good idea
Why not recording full hd video at wide and zooming in (like the camera does) when ever you want ... maybe because this means that the phone has to capture video at 8 megapixel and then downgrade it at Full HD. So this must be more CPU demanding.
Probably the phone records video at 1920x1080 using the center of the sensor. Capturing only the center of the sensor does the zoom effect. I cant think another reason why loosing the wide angle.
The narrow field of view is useful in some cases (maybe outside) but recording inside rooms everything is very close...
Is there any way of recording with the camera with the same resolution in 16:9 widescreen?
There are a million threads on this; none of them have a "real" solution to this problem
there are those of us, who due to whatever reason (helmet cams, preference for posture, etc) want to record videos in portrait mode.
What happens (on my sgs2) is that the video records just fine in whatever resolution I pick... but it records it 90 degrees rotated to the right.
The solution that is usually offered is that "you can rotate it after!" yes... but then you have to CROP part of the image and lower the resolution. 1920 x 1080 recordings end up having to be cropped so that half of the view is cut out , or even more if you are maintaining a real aspect ratio.
The questions about "why not just hold it sideways", are just as pointless as the statement by steve jobs telling iphone4 users that they were holding their phones wrong.
is this something that can be remedied ? or has google decided that people should only record videos when their phones are in landscape mode?
i understand that we cant see landscape resolution in portrait mode; but can't we just have a viewport into the camera, but record in properly oriented landscape mode? so that playback on a computer will show the full resolution, even though we will only see part of it on the phone..
i think the iphone works this way?
as i have a severe case of self-diagnosed OCD. I do believe i am entitled to hold my phone vertically and take videos, plus its easier to hold with one hand
if and when i discover the answer i'll post it here.
maybe android 4.0 has solved the problem? I will investigate!
Is there any way to rotate the camera orientation when recording video?
Sometimes its just easier to record video with the phone standing up instead of it being sideways. The video comes out sideways when the phone is in upright position. Thank you.

simply don't think it's possible... camera sensor has his own ratio and position in camera.... you can't modifiy it by software...
