[Q] auto-rotate not working - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

So I'm not sure why, but my auto-rotate does not seem to be working. It is on in the settings but nothing I do will make it work. I have cyanogen 7.1 installed, I've really only tries rebooting because I don't know what else to do, any ideas?
and just on a small side note, how do I adjust the capacitive button led timeout on cyanogen 7.1?
thanks

Okay well I got a compass app and it said I didn't have a g-scope so I just re-flashed cyanogen. That seemed to fix my first problem but I would still love if someone could tell me where to change the LED on capactive button timeout.

[Q] Backlight problem's on S740

Hello!
I have a weird problem with the backlight of my s740.
The backlight of the screen is always on, when i lock the keypad the display turns off but the backlight is still on, I tried to make changes in the power options, but with no success.
The second problem is with the backlight of the keypad's. None of the keypad's (numeric and QWERTY) has a backlight. The power options gave no results :/.
I have flashed them on the WM 6.5, but the problem's are still there!
Hope someone can help me to resolve this problem?
Thanks!

perhaps you could try to fix it with apps Lumos ~ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2955401&postcount=1
Thanks for your reply!
I tried to install Lumos, but when i try to start them it show's some errors. I installed the .NET 3.5 (what should be a solution for some problems with lumos), but with no success.
The wired thing is that the backlight started to work
The problem started a month ago, and i tried everything but nothing helped. And now after I once shout them down the notification LED of the pad started to light. I turned them again on and, surprise, the lighting worked again .
It was a really wired problem, and I'm happy it's gone now!
Thanks again!

Soft key illumination bug?

Anyone else ever experience a problem with losing the backlighting on the soft keys? This is only happening on the ICS-based roms(CM9 and MIUI). If i go into settings and adjust the brightness either way the buttons light up but then are gone for good once the phone goes to sleep again. Makes no difference if auto-brightness is on or not. Any ideas?
If I'm not mistaken if you turn on auto brightness just once it will turn the lights on, but once you reboot the phone it will turn off again. That's what I remember when i was on CM9, but that was back in alpha.
Yeah I can get them to turn on by adjusting the brightness but they are gone as soon as i press sleep button. Doesn't happen in CM7.2 or stock so I know its not a hardware issue. Only really an issue when its dark.
Try putting it on auto brightness, back out of the settings, and put it in sleep. Idk if that will make a difference, but it's different then just changing the brightness.

Yeah I've tried that but thanks FC for the replies.
No problem sorry I couldn't help. I'm not on CM9 right now, so there is no way I can test it myself.

:S auto-brightness seems to do the trick for me and most of us out there having this issue, badluck4u.

blink notification LED when screen is on

Hi, I'm running neutrino rom and I'm trying to find a way for the notification LED to blink even if the screen is on. How can I accomplish this? I've tried lightflow but the LED still only blinks when the screen is off.
I would like this function, since if I have my phone in the dock and the screen has gone to screensaver mode I can't look in the satusbar to see if I have a notification. And since the LED only blinks if the screen is off I have to touch the screen to check and I find that silly to have to do. Sometimes I forget and then hours later I find out a have had missed calls and texts.

I believe our phone is one of those that doesn't blink led with screen on. I know lightflow warns of this as does my handcent. Don't think its possible unless someone else proves me wrong.
that's strange. if I mess with the LED notifaction settings under Cyanogenmod setting I can test the LED notification while the screen is on. Somehow it must be possible.

Is that cm7 or 9? I noticed in 7 the settings just aren't there (for me anyway) to use led for anything other than system default. With 9 I noticed led functions totally different like the charging led working (love that!) So maybe its rom dependent.
I'm running Neutrino CM7. the LED notifcationsettigns are definetly there. maybe it is rom dependant. Does the LED work for you if the screen in on running CM9?

I honestly haven't had a chance to test that with cm9. I load the rom and test the things that I use most in order, wifi, camera. I don't get passed the camera issue on most. That's a bug I can't live with since I take tons of pics. I will try to remember to test it out next time I flash. Im on rc1 of 7 now getting ready to update to rc2, maybe there will be something there. Where did you find the settings for it in neutrino?
Just upgraded to cm7.2 rc2 and found the screen on led setting. Works great for me. Just wish I could get a charging solid led that goes off at 100% I got spoiled from my flipside I guess but its just so much nicer to not have to turn the screen on to verify full charge. Lightflow didn't work for me.

Capacitive button Control in Helly Bean?

i think i have the right idea here. i installed the helly bean rom a couple days ago and absolutely love it so far, however the home, search, menu, back buttons all stay lit if a notification for txt or email happens while its sleeping. for further clarification in case some dont understand what i mean, say i hit the power button to go into sleep mode and someone send me a txt the phone plays the sound and lights the bottom 4 buttons like normal but once done the bottom buttons remain lit and dont turn off until i wake the phone and put it back to sleep.
any ideas on where to change this? or is it part of the rom

It is part of the ROM. It functions as a notification LED to let you know that you have a text/missed a call/etc. You shouldn't worry about it, it doesn't affect battery life.
You can turn off Notification Light in settings.

Capative Hardware keys not lit until u press in captivate key area in Helly Bean
Hi There,
I just flashed my cappy to the HellyBean ROM, and everything works great! Thanks for such a nice ROM.
While using it I found one small issue,It could be a setting issue which I'm unable to figure so please help me out.
When i'm using the phone, in gingerbeard, it used to light the bottom 4 capacitive keys(Setting,HOME,BACK,SEARCH) all the time so that I can press them when i'm using the phone in dark. But in Hellybean, those 4 LEDs are not lit when the touch screen is used, those 4 buttons are lit only when I press in the Bottom area.
Please let me know how to make them ON even when i'm using the touchscreen area?
Thanks,
Raj
This is the vibrant section not captivate but I think there is a setting in devil kernel configuration app. Don't know for sure which exact setting controls that but I think there's another setting in display, try both. I don't use any bln because of battery use, plus I'm no longer running HB on my vibe or cappy.

Question Button to rotate screen when auto-rotate isn't on is gone?

I feel like I'm going crazy trying to find evidence that anyone else knows what I'm talking about.
When I first got my Pixel 6 in November, if I had auto-rotate turned off, and turned my screen, a little circular button would show in a corner and I could tap it to make the screen rotate. It was really handy, because I never turn auto-rotate on, so in the rare occasions when I did want to rotate my screen, I could make it rotate quickly.
I've noticed it's gone though. Is there a setting tied to this that maybe I turned off on accident? Was it removed entirely? Could it be gone because I'm rooted? Please let me know. Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind. This is apparently tied to the navigation bar, which I hid because I use third-party nav. Very sad :- (
my buddy got the same problem, dont know whats going on. works for me though
