I have been dying to get this phone for weeks, but every review I see posted has bad news about the battery. I'd really love to hear some real world numbers to see if this phone could work for me. I really need to get through 'til late evening, and I need to be able to make 1.5-2 hrs of voice calls per day. Am I dreaming?
What is your experience?
Thanks for responding - I really appreciate your input!
My first real day with my Amaze
Woke up at 6 am EST. Went to the in-laws and usewd my phone to check traffic to ATL Hartsfield. Checked a few more times while texting and checking a few notifications. Get on plane. Airplane mode. Play some angry birds and teeter. try to figure out what all these widget things are all about since I am new to Android. Get to Chicago. Walk about 4 miles through the city snapin pics (see amazing photos thread) Stopped and ate at a resturant. More facebook, text email. Back to where we are staying and it just turned yellow. Not too bad if you ask me considering it was only yellow and I have juice defender for 25% or lower. I could have gone couple hours longer normal use.

cool - what time was it when you got back, and how long were you i nairplane mode?
very simply put, this phone is great... buy it. I had the sensation and i truly think its better on ALL aspects, including battery life, unless you NEED, absolutely cant live without wifi calling, i'd say its a great investment.
switching to 2G so far has saved a ton of battery... I'll see how tomorrow goes.

I noticed in your other thread that you were getting 19 hours - what is your usage pattern like? Also, why is wifi calling an issue - I thought that this had it. Not a deal breaker, but I'd love it for calling home when I'm overseas.
Simply put, from 100 - 0% battery...I haven't hit 7 hours yet (4.5-6.8 hours). That's on moderate-heavy use.
I've now gone through three cycles and will begin to use the device "normally" this coming week. Let's just say I'll be hanging onto my blackberry bold 9780 for travels or times when I know i wont be near a charger for a day. This is one of those - plug in at the office - kind of phones. haha.
Turning off 4g would help, as well as GPS.
I expect once I go back to my Android ways (I've been spoiled by BlackBerry battery life) I can push past 12 hours on this phone.

Hour and a half plane ride.... Got back close to 4 probably.
no major testing but i charged both of my devices to 100% Evo and Amaze. took them off the charger at 1am didn't touch them until 7 am and the Evo went down to 75% and the Amaze 73%. the Evo is rooted ad the Amaze is of course stock.
I have 3 gmail accounts on automatic sync as well as an exchange account set to push delivery. also a news and Facebook widget set to sync every hour.
Yesterday I watched my battery life carefully. I went 8+40 before the first battery warning at 29%. It went an hour and 10 minutes more to yellow at 19%. Then finally turned red after a total of 13+10. I would characterize my usage as light. I listened to an .mp3 while getting ready, did a little messaging. got maybe 20 emails during the day. Had a few short phone calls. Responded to an email from work. Downloaded and installed an app from thre Market. Watched a few short Youtube videos, etc. I have four email accounts, three of which push to the phone. Since I might need to respond to an emergency from the office, I can't see normally letting my phone go below 30%, so that means I have about 8 and a half hours of light use. I was really hoping for more.
As soon as we get root we will have wifi calling. That's if we don't get an OTA with that sooner.
Mine gets horrible battery life when I use it. But when it is on standby its almost crazy how little it actually seems to use.

Lol. That's about right.
For those of you having terrible battery life I suggest going to the market and downloading juice defender and juice plotter. I took my phone off the charger today around 6:15 am and it’s now 1:05am and I still have 26% battery remaining. That is with moderate use and a short 15 minute charge through a computer usb. I took about 8 calls averaging 5 minutes a call, one was 7, watched two YouTube videos, sent 11 text messages, played a game for about 5 minutes wasting time, checked a couple of my posts on xda 3 or 4 times, as well as using the weather app frequently (I’m in Florida and we've been getting hammered with rain!) O... and most of the things that required connectivity my phone was connected to Wi-Fi. With the correct profiles and settings enabled it should increase battery life considerably, and if you have root, even more so!! Been using it with my old g2 and myt4g, and now Amaze!!

Hi all, did a search using keyword "batteries" and suprisingly found nothing. Question: Does anyone know of an extended battery that allows you to keep the oem cover? I got a slightly extended for my pro (1800mAh) and it fit great , giving me just enough more juice. My HD arrives this week and I know the battery prolly will have a tough time going a full day. I've seen the usual assortment of super batts that take a custom bulging cover. I'd prefer to avoid the bulge.
Mugen Power makes one but it's been out-of-stock for a while... the easiest solution (at least for me) was to get a second battery.
If it's any consolation, once you go through several charge / deplete cycles with your new battery, you can expect to go through a whole day without much trouble.
Touch HD actually has the best battery life on the PDA market, surpassing even the menacing iPhone by more then 15%!
You can also find very useful apps that will help save the power, such as Lumos, that will automatically adjust your screen brightness depending on ambient lighting. And I can confirm it makes a lot of difference when it comes to battery life.
Also, Mugen sells batteries for HD that have same dimensions as stock battery, but with slightly larger capacity. I bought one for 30$, and I easily go over 3 days with these 2 batteries.
Thanks for the feedback guys. It's great to hear that the HD actually has good battery life using the oem. I know for the first few days or weeks I'll probably be using the crap out of it just because I'll be getting used to it and it will be to awesome to put down I'll see how it goes and maybe check into muygen if they might have something that fits as is, into the back. Really getting hyped about this HD.
You can also consider a power station which slots in the mini usb slot but makes your touch hd longer but you don't get the bulge.

You get approx 2.33x the juice.

Hmm, that's interesting - I ordered mine about a week ago, they told me they were "out of stock" until the 25th May, but yet they shipped two days after I got that email and I received my 1500mha battery yesterday!

Are you satisfied with yours?
I go easily 2-3 days on my HD between recharges and normal usages. A few calls and texts and a spot of internet browsing.
Do you guys watch video's or something to make the battery life so poor?
Well, after using my HD with the oem battery for the past 3 weeks I must say I am very pleasently surprised that it is working very well for me. I can go a full day with usually a bit left over. I am still using it pretty heavily, just because I can't put the dang thing down. Lol. I'm not sure I'd want to pay to much for a 1500mAh as it seems like not enough of an increase in power reserve. I'm happy with the oem.

i don't even know how you accomplish that...my screen is turned down to the lowest brightness...the 3g radio is off, i don't use wifi or play music or video...and i get a day to a day & a half @ best.
Never, ever seen 3 days
I ordered a battery from Mugen.
I received it on friday, but the phone will not charge it.
charge light turns on for about 15 sec the shots off.
when looking at the battery status it shows battery unknown.
I have emailed Mugen about this no reply as of yet.

I charged my HD over night two days ago, so now I'm clocking 2.5 days from last recharge, and it's on 50%. Couple of calls and SMS, 10-15 mins of GPRS internet each day and about 20 mins of GPS in Google maps.
That's the way to do it.
I'm on Dutty's 3.7. I make a few calls, send a few sms's, browse the internet a bit and play a bit of freecell most days. Last time I charged up was Thursday morning, yesterday at 2pm it hit 14%.
Maybe you live a a poor reception area? I've noticed my battery life gets very poor if I'm in the middle of nowhere, far from any cell towers.
I usually listen to internet radio and surf to and from work, make a couple of phone calls, have a couple of mail accounts set up. I usually don't run out of battery on a normal day, but if I have to go somewhere special I might listen to internet radio more and surf more and the battery will run out. And if I play any games, Xtrakt or Need for Speed Under Cover, or watch videos I can kiss the battery good bye.
It's a smart phone, so we use it to do all the cool things that a smart phone enables us to do. Sure its gonna drain the battery more and usually it's worth it, but you can fault us for trying to get more out of our devices

yep - been using the 1500mha Mugen for about 2 wks now and it seems pretty good - on avg. get about 10% more charge remaining at the end of the day vs. the stock battery. Work day = a bit of web surfing via HSPDA / GPRS, a bit of gaming, 1hr or so of music and a couple of SMS's and maybe calls. Usually still have around 60% charge around midnight. I do use S2U2 with Suspend Power = ON option.
I've noticed that Windows Mobile phones (in general not just Touch HD) seem to have really poor battery life in areas with poor / no reception - in these areas, it's best to either switch to flight mode OR force GSM only mode on.
HORRIBLE Battery Life due to Display!!!!
Is this because of the qHD display or the 3D?
My display always ends up using +80% of my battery...
I've tried keeping the display at about 25% brightness and auto... both Didnt seem to help...
Any solutions or sugestions?
Thanks in Advance
same as it was for me on my hd2 and my week with the 4g.
just the nature of the beast with a big screen
I was the proud owner of the 4g for one year and granted the display took up a lot of battery it was never more than 40% for me
Sent from my rootless 3VO... Lets get that working
I think it's a bit of a false positive. I've noticed that when I"m in weak signal areas, my display percentage is WAY higher (60-80%) than it normally is. Even when my display is hardly ever on (as indicated by the battery graph). I have a feeling that multiple things (including cell standby/data syncing) are erroneously rolled up into the "display" category.
Dave
The reason you see high numbers is because your display is the only thing that will make a dent into the battery. Everything else isn't consuming as much so that is why you see such a high percentage. My sister has a shift, my dad has a 3D, I have a 3D and an EVO. They all share the same display percentages. People need to stop worrying.
The other apps are not consuming as much power so the display is reading high. I also noticed this with any phone that has gingerbread sense. The shift and EVO started showing results like this once they got the gingersense update.

Is there any way to comfirm this? (app from market?)
I don't know if this will apply to the 3D since it is in reference to the OG Evo, but I find that when I'm on a Sense based ROM it is ALWAYS display that takes up the most, and when I'm on AOSP it's ALWAYS cell standby.

No clue whether it applies either, however that would fit in with Dodgeboy's anecdote about weak signal increasing his display %.

I can say I get 24hrs with heavy usage also, but I am using WiFi. Out of the 24, the phone is active for 6-7 hours watching netflix, browsing the internet, browsing xda, playing fruit ninja and watching videos plus YouTube.
Just cause you don't get that doesn't mean others don't.

LOL, there is no way anyone is getting 24 hours out of this battery or their definition of "Heavy Usage" is FAR different from say... HEAVY USAGE.
I'm in sales. I top out around 8K minutes a month making and taking phone calls, in/out pitching , closing etc..
Phone is usually ON - talking, dialing, sending/receiving email, syncing, updating.
I'm lucky to get 4 hours.
lmao.. 24 hours heavy usage.. newbs.

If you charged your battery all the way before using it for the first time then unplug it and plug it back in you will get outstanding battery life and do it every time you charge your phone plus don't drain your battery completely you will shorten life of the battery...quit *****ing and condition your and give automateit a go from the market and turn off automatic brightness

the bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushing, if you know what I mean.
I'm on the side that 24hrs of heavy usage being fairly absurd. I'm not outright denying it's possible, but I can't see it.
My phone used 70% over 12hrs. That only entailed receiving push mail for at most 50 messages. I turned on the screen occasionally, but didn't really use the phone. I was connected to wifi most of that time, and had a good cell signal. Estimates say I could get a few more hours out of the phone. That still puts it at around 15-18 hours of almost no use. I could see maybe hitting 24hrs if I didn't touch it the entire time.
Great
I am very pleased with battery life. I'm getting 8 hours plus without any problems.
I have never check to see how long it actually last. I've never just let it run over night. But I have run it about 20 hours on days since I got it and by the time I'm plugging it in at night it still has 30%+ left on it's charge. I run all sorts of stuff during the day, play games, check XDA, use the internet, 4G, navigator, etc., plus spend 3-4 hours on actually talking for work. So, I could believe the 24 hours, especially after running for 20+ hours on days. I always let it charge completely overnight though.
Fully charged on AC overnight. Unplugged at 7:30am. its not even 10 yet and the phone is below 50% charge. i have made two short phone calls and sent a few texts. that's it.
This is pathetic. Even if it is radio related, that's still not acceptable.
Hoping to see the Seidio fat battery get released soon. At least the phone will last a day then
Any thoughts on the OTA perhaps improving battery life? I hesitate to apply it while waiting for root, but from what I am reading, we might be at the mercy of HTC in that regard anyway...
Edit: 30 minutes later, down to 15% charge. amazing.
Given the recent run of battery posts, i thought i would join in. Yes you read it correctly; 98% after 5 hrs on battery. Thats with an up-time of 8:20, and an awake time of 1:51. During that time i checked and replied to a couple of emails(opened a photo attached) looked at pics in the gallery, and watched a 30 second video w/max volume three times. Also checked the weather several times to update the 5-day forecast.
So whats the secret? Dont open up any of the other screens after you reboot. Or, you can remove whatever you have on there and have only one active screen.
Heres the proof ( sorry about the crappy pic, all i had was my old Hero)
How do you do it can you explain a little better
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Well, I don't have a picture, but my battery is down 2 bars on the screen you are showing...so roughly 80% I guess. I have up time showing 39:17:xx and awake time of 12:51:xx. I've looked at some pictures of my cat several times (had to put him to sleep yesterday due to a degenerative disc disease that finally damaged his spinal cord to where he couldn't walk anymore ) I did a lot of texting, e-mailing, some web surfing, and updating some programs from the market. I also talked on the phone for about an hour.
What did I do for this? Well, the only account sync I have is GMail, all the other crap is turned off. I have the LCD brightness locked at about 20% (auto brightness unchecked), I use WiFi whenever possible since 3G sucks the battery, and the only widget I have running is the HTC Sense weather/clock thing. It is set to update every 4 hours. Otherwise pretty basic stuff.
Uptime and awake time don't mean anything in regards to your claim. That just means, since you last rebooted your phone has been up for 8 hrs 20 min, etc. What you have to show to backup your claim is the time since unplugged...

Well, I don't really have to prove anything to you. We are not in court and I am not on trial. However, I can tell you I wake up every morning at 7:30 and unplug my phone which means, at the very least, the awake time is accurate. I didn't realize up time was only since last reboot. But still, sitting at 8/10 bars at 13 hours. If you don't believe it, then don't.

OK, so its was on battery for 5 hours and I unplugged it at that time. Im not trying to brag, cause frankly the battery was pretty crappy for the first week. I believe the stand-by time on this phone is awesome, Im more concerned about how fast the battery drains once you start using it.

When you reboot your phone, the only active screen is the home screen. If you long-press the Home button, you will see the other six screens blank. I left the other screens the way they came from the factory and found out that if you even look at them once, they seem to remain active even if they are not being updated.
I was charging my phone before I went to bed, and waking up with 95% (yes I minimized all the background updates). Then I would drive to work with BT on and it would go to 93%. 12 hours later, after two text messages and two voice mails, Im at 70%. Sure my up time was 19 hrs, but my awake time was 40 minutes max. So basically you need to keep everything but the essentials off your screens. This is my experience, as im sure there are people out there on 4G 8 hrs a day who come home with 50%+ on their phone.
Can I put apps on those screens so basically no widgets on any screen but the home

You don't have GPS enabled. That's cheating.
3G (or WiFI, 4G enabled) GPS, auto sync, backlighting, widgets, exchange, twitter, facebook, live wallpaper, all the reasons we bought the phone?! Those should be running at all times. (Otherwise, what exactly is the point? Srsly?)
If the battery life is still 3 hours then I am expecting a phone that hasn't and won't be built for 20 years.

I think we use our phones very differently. I like those features but I don't have them on all the time. I use the GPS when I need to use a GPS. I look at FB or Twitter when I have time to look at them. Live wallpaper, while cute, doesn't do much for me. Exchange and Gmail push is about all I use regularly.

I get about the same when I'm working a 10-14. That's with checking exchange email, background sync and data on, sending texts on a normal basis, brightness about 30-40%, checking fb, etc etc. Battery doesn't drain much at all for me while it's sleeping which is great when I'm working these shifts and don't care to bring a charger.
Using GPS with location on and Sprint Navigation will drain that beast though, but that's expected.

I had a epic 4g with extended battery 3500 mah and I would constantly use the phone even while at work.. At the end of the day my battery would be at 50%. On my evo 3d I use the phone even more now because its new and my battery would still be 50 % at the end of the day.
Fairly impressed
Doesnt the GPS only draw power if an app is actually using it at the time? So does it matter if you leave it on
Im pretty sure that if you leave your GPS on it will be put into "stand-by" mode, which in effect draws power. I could be wrong tho

use a program like battery status, that'll actually tell us how long its been since it was off the charger
but even from this, shows your phone doing a lot of sleeping
we'd be more impressed with a lot of battery left after actually USING the phone
I shut everything off that im not using. Only time my battery life sucks is when Im at work and get very low signal. That drains the crap out of the battery.
Plus I use Juice Defender, seems to provide some improvement.
After being unplugged and having used it as I described, after 20 hours I still had 68% of my battery charge. I don't have juice defender, but I made the adjustments I mentioned and the one I forgot to mention is I also turned off location services.
So far I am pretty happy with the battery life, but I also remember with the Epic I had amazing battery life for a month or so and then it was more like what is "average" for that phone. I'm no scientist, but I would guess that brand new lithium batteries do a little better and then when the chemicals start breaking down you lose that "little extra."
Sorry, I guess I should have included two pics. I do have battery status and it showed 5:05 since off the charger. I chose to post the other pic since I thought it meant more in terms of use. Sure it doesn't tell you how I was using it, just that it want sleeping for half of that time. Im not trying to impress anyone, i just thought it was a huge improvement from the past week where 5 hours off charger showed 70% battery left with only 40 minutes of up time (which resulted form a couple of VM and texts). So my point was along the lines of; more use, but huge improvement in battery consumption.

I'm no scientist, but I would guess that brand new lithium batteries do a little better and then when the chemicals start breaking down you lose that "little extra."

20hours, and almost 70% left?
i say super BS
because you know at that rate you can go almost 3 days with no charge right?
i know the evo 3d battery has bout 150 more mah then the 4G, but c'mon son
I've not been able to drain this thing since I got it a week and a half ago. I have to say that I like to charge things over night. I've not been able to get the Photon below 40% before I go to bed each night.
I hear that you need to drain it full at least once but my habit of charging things overnight is getting in the way. Should I just let it go overnight one night?
I was under the impression that completely draining Lithium Ion batteries causes more harm than good.
"The smaller the depth of discharge, the longer the battery will last. If at all possible, avoid frequent full discharges and charge more often between uses. If full discharges cannot be avoided, try utilizing a larger battery. Partial discharge on Li-ion is fine; there is no memory and the battery does not need periodic full discharge cycles other than to calibrate the fuel gauge on a smart battery."

Also, i'm sitting at 46% after 15 hours of normal (for me) use. not to shabby. I should mention i'm running Juice Defender and build 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_5 from the dev. forums and i'm connected to WiFi 90% of the time.
going to try tomorrow without Juice Defender and see how it does. After that i'm going to disable SPB Shell and see if that makes a difference.
Thank you sir. I don't want to root my phone so don't run Juice Defender but I do use the Data Saver in stock a lot. I usually just listen to a lot of music and look for new stuff on FB, check XDA forums blah blah blah, yada yada yada...
I'll not feel paranoid about charging my phone now lol.
Now with my tablet (Acer Iconia A500) I did root and load a bunch of different stuff. This is my first cell phone though and I didn't want to mess with something that I have to pay a monthly charge for. I know I could but it's my first cell phone lol.
How much are you guys using it? For me, I use about 30min talking, 1 hr heavy wifi use, 1 hr light wifi use (reading), 30 minutes playing with settings, and the rest of the day idle...that gets me to about 30%.
I actually thought that is kind of weak. Maybe my battery isn't as healthy as yours? I've only had it for 5 days. I charge it every night.
I use it for about 7 to 8 hours of music, FB updates/posting, checking XDA, about 10 minutes of calls and so far some Netflix watching just to show off the phone to my peeps. Oh and some picture taking.
I am the same way I hate to discharge it completely and its been very hard. I've went a day and a half without charging before it went under 10%. I will say that I am on Wifi 90% of the time as I have wifi at work and at home other than that its on performance mode so no true bells and whistles. I'm thoroughly impressed coming from the Evo.

Average day for me is about 30 to 45 minutes of phone calls, 80 to 100 texts, few conversations on google talk, 30 or so emails on three accounts and i have trillian running connected to two accounts.
Connected to WiFi most of the time, bluetooth is turned on (not connected most the time) and brightness set to Auto.
I really dont see how this phone is a monster when it comes to battery life, I've actually been getting the exact opposite. I just fully charged my phone and after running for 2hrs and 7mins its down 78%.... This phone has yet to last me for the whole day. What am i doing wrong? I dont have tons of widgets and the only app that im running that might pose a problem is Go Launcher

Is that your screen on time? If that is then I would say that is impressive already. When I had the epic on stock if I use it for 2ish hours screen on time. I would need a recharge. (Got a lot better after using custom rom. Around 4 hrs screen on time before recharge)

Yes, but what's your battery status at the end of this average day? 20%? 30%? 10%?
+1 for an awesome battery!

For the past couple of weeks I've been swapping batteries with an external charger one to two times during the course of a day (plus the overnight charge)... Looks like it's time to do some housekeeping...
Edit: used to have battery life like everyone else in this thread though! While at the climbing gym last night I noticed that the thing felt like it was about to catch fire against my thigh - it had burned through about 60 percent of a freshly charged battery in about two hours. I have a nagging suspicion that I neglected to uninstall something (or a few things), and now something non-existent is constantly being polled for as a service after I launch some app for the first time...
when i got my phone it did great on a full day charge, but now with it just sitting at the office its at 70% by 11am i take it off the charger 7-8am .. it started to "weaken" after i downloaded a ton of apps i leave wifi on and 4g off but it also depends on your signal strenght at home it will kill the phone halfway thru the day because i have one bar
Sorry for another battery thread but I went through all 10+ pages of the other one and not a single poster mentioned anything about how horrific the battery life is when using the phone to talk to others.
I had my phone for 4 days so far and this is what's reported in the "About phone"... "Status" log:
Note that the total time on the battery from full charge is 7 hours (remaining life is 32%)
Voice Calls - 52% (ONLY 2 HOURS TALK TIME!!!)
Display - 32% (I use the dimmest setting)
Media Server - 4%
Android System - 3%
Cell Standby - 2%
Android OS - 2%
Messaging - 2%
Gmail - 2%
This includes approx 5 minutes of surfing the web and I played three songs on the native music player. I did nothing else with the phone except text and read/send emails through Gmail.
I'm a heavy phone user and according to the specs I'm seeing (68% discharge with 2 hours of talking)... the phone will be at 0% after ~3 hours of talk time. And Samsung's website states 13.5 hours on 3G and 26 hours (!!!) on 2G. Yes, I understand that manufacturers are infamous for overstating battery expectancy when it comes to talk time but by 300%+? That's just ridiculous.
I'm a very heavy phone user and my line of work sometimes doesn't allow access to convenient power for hours at a time. Coming from a Blackberry, 5-6 hours of talk time was standard... and I rarely had issues with my phone dying prematurely/before the end of a work day. And to make matters worse, the chargers I've used (including the one that came with the phone) barely keeps the phone battery balanced when I'm on a call. In fact, even when plugged in/charging and on a phone call... I noticed a few times that the battery was still being drained!
Today, I purchased the two-pack Hyperion batteries w/charger from Amazon. I'm hoping that the battery I have is defective... because 3 hours of talk time is absolutely unacceptable. I'll report back after receiving and testing the new batteries.
In the meantime, any other heavy talkers having similar battery problems?
Holy crap you can make phone calls on this thing. Finding new features everyday!!!!

Lmao
To the op, don't know about anyone else but any previous android phone I've had would loose a ton of battery from a 2 hr phone call or 2 hrs worth of calls thruout the day, so I don't think the note is to blame, if you call that much might want to invest in an extended battery.

^^ This, any Android phone I've had, this has been par for the course. Hopefully after a week of breaking it in it gets slightly better!
They way I use my phone, if I can get 10 hours from a charge, I'm more than happy. I run my business from my phone. Since Monday, I'm averaging about 9 hours on a charge
Email - 200+
RDP - 30 mins minimum
Spiceworks - all day
SMS/MMS - hundreds
Web - 30 mins minimum
Calls - 2 hours+
GPS - some days yes, some days no, depends on where I have to go
Homerun Battle 3D - 30 mins minimum
Music - headphones any time I'm not talking on the phone
Using about 2.5 - 3 hours screen time. After the first week, I expect to get another hour or two out of it once things settle down and I have no more setup or adjustments to make. Since I use my phone for everything, I carry a car charger and a USB cable everywhere just so I am prepared.

I had a similar thought. It took me a while to make a test call to make sure it works. I hate when people call my phone. I usually use voice for emergencies and people who don't text/email.

Thought the battery life was good, on my old international note. You did mention
you're a heavy talker, plus the LTE radio doesn't help. Buying those extra batteries
should help.

Not sure why people keep saying this. I have no idea why people have to look in the mirror to make/take a phone call.

agreed...i think the people with those silly bluetooth thingys hanging off their ear looks funny.
Personally I would rather buy a portable external charger like this, than deal with ripping the back cover off to swap the Note's battery.

Not sure I would get this exact model, getting one with a cord or one you can plug a standard USB cord into might be more useful, then again this is compact.

I had at least 2 hours of talk time yesterday, and my call usage was only like 30% and screen was somewhere in the teens.
Just about every phone except for BlackBerry seems to kill the battery when your actually talking on it. My Samsung Focus, Inspire, iPhone and Streak all can't handle phone calls for very long. My Bold was the only phone that could handle a conference call over an hour, but the sacrifice was that callign was the only thing it could actually do well.
Apparently I am one of the only (or at least few) people that actually use their note to talk frequently to others.
Apple advertises 8 hours talk time for their iphones. People get 5-8 hours.
Blackberry advertises 6.5 hours for their Touch phones. I got about 5 hours.
Samsung boasts a 13.5 hour talk time on their Note. I get 3 hours.
I'm surprised there aren't more people disgusted by this blatant false advertising. I was hoping to have a phone that not only lasts me through the day... but through the evening as I often go out after work. And those "13.5-hour" specs got me a bit excited... if I could achieve only half that I would be very pleased. And because this thing charges so painfully slow (about 15%-20% per HOUR of charge) it's impossible to get it rejuvenated for an evening of moderate use after work. Battery swapping will be my only option... and the back cover isn't exactly easy to remove and replace.
As far as I'm concerned, the Note's battery is a huge fail. It's either way too small (mAh) or the phone is incredibly inefficient (or both). Very disappointed.

I get 40% per hour, while it is on but not being used. Haven't tried while off yet.
I made around a two hour call last night using a bluetooth headset and I'm pretty sure I only dropped about 20% or so on battery.
That being said, I rarely make calls on my smartphone, so I could care less about talk time.
Battery life has been great overall for me. No complaints here.

For me, the ledge above the earpiece cuts into my earlobe. I bought a Jawbone Icon and love it. The noise cancellation kicks all kinds of ass.
Honesty my son uses my note make calls some times and he is 11 and i dont think that it looks funny when he is talking on it.
and as for the battery drain i was on a call for 1.5 hours str8 yesterday and i lost 20 percent...so that means if it were fully charged i would be on par to get 6 plus hours of phone time.
i do have a screen off setting and a call setting that underclocks my phone while talking. so that may help

So 13.5 on 3G not lte? Also I would imagine that is straight talk time nothing else.... And from the looks of it you use it for more than just talk.... How much screen time is on?
