[Q] Messaging timestamp problem? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm having an issue where if I reply immediately to a text message, my text bubble will appear on top of the message I have replied to.
Both timestamps will show the same time, eg 11:20am, but even though I had received the message first and THEN replied to it, the order of my reply is ABOVE that of the message that I received.
It's rather weird. I have tried playing around with time settings. Someone had advised me to clear cache of the MMS app, but the option to clear cache is greyed out.
Anyone facing similar issues?
I'm on Leomar 2.7.1 KI3, Siyah kernel 1.8. Using Muveszur's MMS apk mod.

I think I fixed that by installing Go SMS and leaving the notifications for Go off and letting it run in the background.
I'm not sure if that will work for you, but try.

You could also try using "sms time fix" and set the delay time accordingly.

Thanks for the help guys, I dont really want to use a third party messaging app like GoSMS.
Thanks for SMS time fix, I guess it helps, but is there any way to fix my default messaging app itself?
I did not use to have this problem prior to upgrade to leomar 2.7.1 and/or muveszur's mod.

Handcent and Visual Voicmail

Since the Evo 3D cannot be rooted yet I am hoping that this is something that can be explained and someone has had similar problem and has a answer.
I have had te Evo 3D since launch day and Handcent is probably the first app I installed on day one ad seemsed to be working just fine until a few days ago.
When I get a voicemail it use to go to the stock visual voicemail but the last few I had gotten my notification started coming from Handcent. It would say I have a message and to call to listen and it would have a 480-970-0000 # to call. Now if I am not mistaken that is a Google voice number but I haven't ever used google voice even though I have a google voice account.
I kept trying to go through Handcent to see if all the settings were correct but I couldn't find anything out of place. Then I did the only thing I could think of and that was to remove handcent and my visual voicemail returned.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to correct it?
I want to keep and use Handcent but I can't figure out why it just started interferring with voicemail.
Can anyone explain this oddity? I hate the stock message app and hope there is a solution because I don't want to have o continue using it and want to us Handcent.
Now I haven't tried to use GoSMS to see if it will work with it but isn't it on the exact same format as Handcent? They are so similar I wonder if they aren't really the same app just different names.
you have to uncheck handcent's setting making it the default messenger. the native sms app has to get the trigger for visual voicemail.
thanks, I was wondering if that would do it. I did uncheck it and voicemails seems to be working properly.....
Where exactly is that option to "uncheck handcent's setting making it the default messenger" can't seem to find it. I myself am having that problem.

I had this problem too and this fixed it for me as well.
In the handcent sms app hit your menu button, go to settings => application settings => default messaging application => disable.
If you intend to only use handcent as I do, make sure to turn off your notifications in the stock messaging app so you don't receive two notifications per 1 message.
Also, on a side note, I had a problem with sending picture messages over handcent, they would always seem to get hung up and not send, but when i tried to send on the stock app it sent just fine. Anyone else have this happen to them?
Thanks for the help, found it!
Also, I get the same problem sometimes when sending picture msgs, where they get "hung up" as you mentioned. Usually when that happens to me, I cancel the picture mail then resend it again. That sometimes works for me.
i have the same problem with gosms but i dont have any option to disable it as the default messaging app

Actually I just went through this and there is a solution that lets you use Handcent and Visual Voicemail.
In Handcent the latest version allows you to make Handcent your default SMS/MMS app. Of course the natural thing to do is select that. Well that's what messes up VVM and causes those annoying text messages instead of the actual voicemails being sent to your device.
Just select "Disable" for that feature. (turn off all notifications on the stock message app so you don't get double notifications).
Next go to VVM and click on the menu and select compose. Put your own phone number in the TO: address field. Next, record a short 1 or 2 second message. Then press send. This will cause VVM to begin working again and in a few seconds any voicmails that are waiting will be sent to your device.
By the way, I've sent the folks at Handcent an email letting them know of this issue. They have yet to respond.
Thanks for the workaround mvansomeren, this was driving me NUTS! All temp fixed thanks to your instructions. Hopefully Handcent will release an update.
I know the feeling! Glad it worked for you as well.

WanamLite 2.0 Messaging (SMS) issue

Hey all,
I've tried my best not to be a noob and did a search of the i9300 sub-forums before posting this and also a search of the WanamLite thread.
I saw a few people have FC problems and others with "ghost" notifications. But my problem is a bit different.
I have a i9300 running WanamLite 2.0 ROM with stock kernel. I have about 9,500 texts (SMSes).
I backed up and restored them using "SMS Backup & Restore" from the play store.
The problem is this:
I get a notification that I've gotten a text, I open the messaging app and the relevant thread is not updated. When I open the thread, its fine I see the new sms and THEN the thread gets updated when I go one level back.
Its not as big of a issue when its a single sms or multiple smses from a single sender, but with multiple senders all I see in notification is that I have "X" amount of texts. I do not know who the sender is until I open the threads one by one and see which has a new text in it. =/
I really hope that I've been able to explain the issue properly. I wonder if i'm the only one facing this bug =/
Regards,
Forsakened.

Text messaging questions

So, I used to use Handcent for all my SMS, MMS messages until recently. Too many bugs on updates and it just isn't reliable. Unfortunately Handcent had some good features I can't seem to get working (or even if they are possible) on the the stock HTC app. First is custom notifications for texts. Handcent you could select a different tone for each person you sent/received messages from. Very convenient to know if my phone was in the other room if it was my wife, or just a nitwit friend. The other option is a mark letting me know the other person (if they are a VZW customer) received the message or not. You can select an option to notify you but I don't need a second notification sound telling me the other person got it. The check mark is enough, but I can't get it to work without the extra sound. When handcent was installed, I got the notification of a check mark in the stock app without the sound, but the second Handcent was deleted it no longer worked.
I'm sure there is a setting I'm missing or something. If the phone is not capable of this, is there another app anyone recommends? It really sucks that Handcent has gone downhill.

AFAIK the stock app is very limited. Have you tried gosms? they offer everything that handcent has + more.
Hey man, thanks. Go SMS is similar with all the features I'm looking for. Thanks.
I had the same problems with Hanscent. Really liked it for a long time. Finally tried a different app for SMS. Take a look at CHOMP. I think it does all the stuff you need. I like it a lot.

[Q] Notifications not 100%

Hi,
I'm on a international i9300 with MS Team HD 12.1 rom, so using Android 4.2.2. Also use GO SMS
My issue is that sometimes when I receive a text, I get the notification as usual but the notification does not appear on the notification bar, and the text is not added to any conversation. When I launch my sms app, go sms, sometimes it does then get "processed" as usual so I receive the text. However sometimes the text is lost which is nuisance obviously.
I believe on the stock rom I was having no issues with a similar combination of apps (more to follow on this) but have done with both HD 12.0 and 12.1
I initially though it was an issue with the lightflow app, which received the notification and was holding it in some way, however I have now disabled that and believe the issue is still present. Therefore I now believe it is either the go sms app itself, or possibly a UCCW widget I have which shows the number of unread sms messages that could be "holding" the message. I'm not really able to troubleshoot this fully as I don't have another phone to text myself.
If anybody is familiar with lightflow's debugging logs I'd be willing to send them, and just to note, the debugger widget does show that the SMS notification is on, even when the text has not been "processed". My led will stop blinking once any conversation has been loaded on go sms.
Is anyone able to shed my some light on this?
Cheers

if you have too many messages, sometimes this might happen. if that is not true, try re-flashing the rom by fully wiping before and after the installation. backup if you'd like to.

Well I had around 9K messages, and a few thousand were from a mistake when backing up leading to duplicates, so that would tie-in with the timing of changing roms, so hopefully that is the issue and I'll start clean and see what happens!
Many thanks

[Q] KitKat bug: SMS sent from non-default app results in duplicate outgoing message

Using GlowFly, SMS Enhancer, and SMS Popup (all similar apps), and their Quick Reply feature, stock messaging and Chomp both show the same message going out twice (the recipient actually receives one message).
I believe this is because of KitKat's new requirement of a default SMS app being the only one that can send. However, Quick Reply circumvents it, and I think it results in this bug.
Anyone know what I can do to fix it? I love the feature.
Thanks!
