Try the latest rom KI8 mate.

Search android market, you might find apps for resizing fonts there.

Oh. ..I'm 38, someone must have forgotten to tell me that I need a larger font on my S2 because I have*no* problems reading what's on the screen (and when apps have a user-selectable font size, I tend to pick the smallest available)
I just saw this on Android UK News if it helps http://www.androiduknewsetc.com/2011/10/16/big-launcher-ideal-for-those-with-poor-eyesight/

There are settings within messaging that define font display size! Should be the same with emails!
sent from t'internet

go into
settings>display>screen display>font style
to change the font. Selecting "get fonts online" will bring you to the market link for a samsung endorsed font switching app.
check out this thread for some .apk fonts.
its hard to tell which fonts will be the oversized ones, so youll just have to try it out.

any program ??
still there is no progrma to make font bigger (in mms.apk ther is just extra small, small and normal) but still i need bigger font in whole phone any idea ?

Search Google Play. If you can't find an app that can do the job, CM9 has a toggle in accessibility settings where you can increase the font size by around 50%. Tho if you don't have experience flashing custom roms, I'm not sure I'd recommend you go down this path unless it's absolutely necessary.
If it is tho, might be something worth looking at ?
Edit to add - Also, not 100% sure on this, but you might also be able to change the DPI of the screen to achieve this as well. Perhaps someone who fiddles around with this might be able to confirm either way.
Edit to add more - I just did a Google search for "Google Play increase font size" & got results. That should be the first thing you do before you go down the CM9 route.

Font Size and Big Buttons Keyboard are both helpful .

[Q] Capabilities of the Xperia x10i

i've searched the threads and have not really found a direct answer to what I was searching for.. thus created this
curious to know.. is the xperia x10i capable of achieving any of the following (or will be in the future)
a) instead of the arc scroll for unlocking.. something similar to the iphone (slide)
b) password input (num pad) instead of the draw pattern
c) I know the image size for the wallpaper has to be (appx) 900 x 600 for it to fit properly in the background.. but any chances of having an image which is LOCKED on each page and when you scroll to another page.. it doesnt change?
d) having a different wallpaper for when the phone is locked versus home screen
e) changing background of sms screen? inserting image & changing the font bubble for the sender and receiver of text messages
f) double click functions (similar to iphone) where a double click can perform certain tasks such as opening a smaller window of music and changing songs
-- this would also apply to when the phone is locked (once again.. like the iphone)
that's all I could think of for now haha.. cheers

You should move on (emotionally).. and embrace the differences.. it's what makes the x10 an X10, and not an iphone... plus.. you'll find when you dig around on the market and search this forum, you'll find that as it's android you can customise it beyond your wildest dreams!! Especially compared to the limited changes you could make on the iphone.

I installed GOTO and a question regarding that.. on the lock screen.. it shows (default) text messages, call log and gmail.. can I customize those icons.. as in.. instead of what is presently there.. put text, dialer & music?
& is there any customized 'dailer' that you would recommend? default is pretty.. default lol
& ADW launcher decent? currently using that
I don't use GOTO so can't help with that, but I do use ADW and wouldn't use anything else, but I'm going to give Launcher Pro a whirl when we get the update.
Try SuperDial by Episode6 (off the market).. it's really good.
ADW is highly customisable - it will take you a while to uncover all it's wonders!.. first thing you need to do when you download it is go into the settings and switch off the "horizontal drawer" feature in the "Drawer settings" menu - doesn't work very well.. but the rest of it is really then down to you... and your wild imagination!!!
If you want to Root you can do even more, but I'm not that fussed about it personally (and I don't have that much spare time on my hands!)...
I downloaded DesktopVisualiser too (had to google that, couldn't find it on the market for some reason).. but that allows you to create your own icon (on your image editing software on your PC) and then assign an app shortcut to them - I created 4 red buttons for my actions buttons - at the bottom of ADW screen - for my 4 main acitvities - Call, Text, Email, Internet.. but you can also use photo's too..
Have fun!
oh.. and check this thread out... there's tonnes of ideas in here.. a lot of it is on rooted phones, but much of it can still be done on a non-rooted handset...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713391
you weren't kidding about superdial.. nice!
i've already rooted the xperia & used titaniumbackup to back everything up.. I guess the more I look into it the more I would be able to customize it (i'm on the same boat.. no time)
is there another software which I could use other than DesktopVisualiser to customize the icons? do you have a guide on how to do it with desktopvisualiser?
yeah that thread is nice but going through 124 pages might take a while
i'll put up some pics of my phone when I get a chance.. is shootme currently the best software to take phone snapshots or is there something better?

Font Size

Is there a way to reduce the size of fonts? I want to be able to see more on the screen especially the contacts menu. The contacts is so big and you see about 6 on the screen. Currently i am searching for small fonts to help reduce the size. But is there a way through root that allows me to reduce size?
thanks

[Q] Android for visually impaired

Hello,
As my sister is visually impaired, i was searching for magnification tools on an android device.
Her problem is that when she writes a text, she can't see what she's typing because it's too small.
Actually, a fully magnified android interface would be great, but I don't know if it exists...
She has no device yet, because we don't want to spend money for a one she can't use.
So if you know a device that integrates such features, or some usefull apps for visually impaired people... (She don't want screen readers, also).
And well, if an iPhone or a Windows Phone is better, you can say it
Thanks,
Fabien
ps : sorry for my english, i'm french
You could just get a large android device (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Note).
Well, i have a HTC Sensation, and it's not better, because the font size is adapted to the large resolution...
As someone who is in the same shoes, I highly recommend Handcent SMS. Completely adjustable font sizes on every single thing. I love it. No more eye strain or anything.
Handcent SMS is definitely a good option as you can easily customize the text size.
If you root the phone (not for everyone) you can adjust the DPI that will affect every app on the phone. You can see the effects in some of the images here: bit.ly/vfhzHn
So, i've searched a little on the market, and here is what i've found :
- Launcher 7 (for big icons on the launcher, and for its simplicity)
- Handcent SMS (all font magnified)
- DW Contacts (in order to magnify the list of contacts and the dialer)
All this apps helped a lot for my sister, but if you see how I can improve...
Thanks !

^Else if you have a device which has CyanogenMod7 in it, then you may simply use Spare Parts to increase the overall font size.
I guess it is also available in the market for other ROM's as well, not sure about that!

[Q] Everything is TINY on Galaxy S4 with Themer

Hi folks,
I'm a Themer noob, but a even with searching around I haven't found the solution. Basically, I installed Themer on my Slimkat ROMed T-Mo Samsung Galaxy S4 (M919 model), and went theme shopping. Found lots of nice ones but they all look tiny on my screen. Fonts and icons are much smaller than shown while browsing themes. For example, here's a theme I thought looked pretty. I'm attaching two pictures, one as shown in the theme browser and the other (with the tiny text and a tiny angry birds icon) the way it actually displays.
How do I change the sizes of the things, basically zooming the elements by a factor of 2-3X?
I have tried the icon size dp setting, but changing it doesn't seem to do much of anything at all.
Thanks in advance for help in adjusting the scaling!

Hi Marc,
We apologize about this, but you say you're running Slimkat. For some reason Slimkat has also been giving other users in this section similar issues. However one possible cause for this could be your display/DPI/resolution settings. Make sure that all your settings are set to your device's default setup, as Slimkat may have changed a few of them.
If this isn't the case please let us know, thanks!

Thanks Marco. I'll poke around today and see if I can figure out how to change the DPI stuff. I've never needed to in my past Android experience and will need to figure out how to do it. I haven't yet seen an obvious setting for it, so maybe it's a build.prop mod?
I will report back after investigating!
Marc
I researched and found the actual pixel density of the S4 screen is 441. Using Device Control's build-prop settings, I found mine with SlimKat was set to 370. I adjusted it to 441 and a lot of things look more normal now in the regular launcher. The status bar at the top is now normal size and fonts are generally more legible.
However, in Themer, things still seem a bit small. I re-applied the theme, and things got a bit bigger, but still smaller than I'd like. I'll continue to poke around...

Whenever you have an issue with Themer, try this:
1. Uninstall Themer.
2. Delete the /sdcard/MyColorScreen/ folder (remove the Exported folder if you saved any themes).
3. Reinstall Themer.
Let me know how it goes!

Messages app - change font size?

Using the Samsung Messages app on my Verizon S9+, I am unable to permanently change the font size in the actual conversation screen. Yes, you can pinch to shrink and expand font size but that gets reset to standard size every time (unlike on the S7 Edge where it remembered your size preference).
Through Settings, you can globally adjust font size but the only Messages screen this affects is the main Conversation screen which shows all conversations. Once you click on a conversation, normal font size is presented. Frustrating for my old eyes...
UPDATE: Ironically, when you adjust Font Size in Settings, if you swipe the sample screen above the sliders, it shows you a sample Messages screen and the font size does change in the sample, but it does NOT change in the actual Messages app. Sounds like a bug to me as they are depicting what I want to do, just doesn't work.
I'd like to use the stock app as it has some features that are unique. There must be a way to change the font size so the setting is persistent, no?
Seeing the same also. Hard for my aging eyes to see.
And also finding it doesn't follow the global setting for size. Same as you.
Same issue. I don't think you can change the font size just for the Message app.
I when back to my beloved and trusted Textra SMS app.
It changes when you change the font size in display settings font.

As I mentioned in my post, this is not true. On my phone, changing the font size in display setting ONLY affects font size in the main Conversations view. Once you click on an actual conversation, the font size returns to the default tiny size.
You can get a newer version on apkmirror.com but it wont allow updating samsung apps for some reson. Anyone have the latest version of messages signed by samsung that will install?
They need ro bring back the S8 messaging app which has this inbuilt feature to adjust text. Wonder, why they ripped off that useful feature.

Hopefully Samsung will acknowledge this bug and release a new version of the app. Clearly the global Font Size Setting is supposed to do exactly this.
Same thing. Very frustrating

It's really not that hard to pinch zoom. Takes a half second. Sure, it'd be nice if it would stick but, c'mon man.
I had a problem with the Background colors in the Messaging ap - some of the themes I like to use are really awesome but when I get to the messaging ap, they used yellow fonts on a white background - nearly impossible to read. I either have to use a different messaging ap entirely (Mood is a pretty good one I found that has TONS of customization options) or just guess at what was written - or change themes.
It's dissapointing that I can't change the balloons or fonts in the messaging ap any more - would be nice if we could - and change font size too - so for now, I am using the MOOD messaging ap and while I prefer the Samsung Stock one better - Mood isn't bad at all.
Its not only internal Messages app, Viber and Hangouts has really small font in input line. Tried increasing font size, tried toying with DPI settings. No idea why its like that and only affecting text input lines, but hope some later update could fix that?
Hi Everyone..I just got the 9 plus and the messaging app is different than it used to be. It is just blue bubbles with white background. It wont let me change anything like before and the setting the background wallpaper for messages is no longer there....is that how everyone else's is?
I also switched to Textra for the all of the customization that it offers. It's a free download so I gave it a try and I've stuck with it since. Just my 2ยข

No, not "come on man". It should work as designed, and has worked since GSI-II.
I use Chomp. Let's you change all of the fonts and sizes, including the message notification pop-up.

I think you mean, "It should work the way I want it to work." It IS working as designed. It's just that you don't like the new design.
That's not to say that I don't agree that it would be better if we could choose a persistent font size. I do.
But we're talking about a split-second pinch out to increase the size.
A split-second.
So, yeah... C'mon.

Thousands of people having to take a split-second to adjust for a design bug every single time? No. You're missing the point.
