Complete restore to 100% - Motorola Photon 4G

I've read all 74 forums and not seeing a method to bring my phone back to 100% stock.
I have rooted using aio method, I have NOT unlocked the bootloader.
Its there a stock sfb like there was on the Droid x?

A couple dozen of those threads would tell you to flash the latest sbf to take you to stock. You would not be rooted or have bootstrap recovery afterwards. Apps like su that you downloaded from the market just need to be uninstalled. Also, this is not a development thread. It should have been posted in General.

Agreed, this needs to be moved.
That aside, the Photon tends to retain apps if reset via CWM. The only way I've been able to get it to clear properly is to "factory reset" from settings a couple times then run the SBF. I found this bug after wiping via CWM, flashing the sbf and finding launcher pro and LP widgets intact upon reboot. I know it's not my phone as I have duplicated this on my dev/testing mopho as well. If we can get Calkulin back maybe he can write a format.zip like he did for the Evo.

Your right, sorry, mod please move, that said, I saw threads of sfb, but nothing for stock. They were all modded sfb files, deodex ones and roms.
I don't need any of roms, or deodex system, just a complete stock sfb file.
If u know of the thread then a link would be nice.
Thanks

Would you care to explain what deodexed means? I've seen term used a few times lately and I have no idea what that means...

Deodex is about removing the odex file that is attached to the OEM files. This allows for modularity regarding themes and roms.

[Q] Has anyone tried this loopy script?

Anyone tried this on X2?

No, but just wanted to comment that it looks interesting, would like to stay informed as to what happens with that script.
One other thing... I think it said that you use cwm to install the scripts, but we don't have official cwm yet... Just bootstrap...

Using ROM toolbox to skin battery?

Now Thai I have root and installed ROM toolbox and ROM manager, can I simply install a custom battery icon? Will I have issues?

I think you need to be deodexed first to apply any mods.

Wouldn't try anything right now until there is a safe and easy way to recover back to stock. To many people are soft bricking, almost including myself.

Stock ota update deferred

I deferred the update until 2/25 the latest it would allow me to put it off. I eventually want to root and use a custom Rom I am coming from the Motorola droid x2 and CM7 and know nothing about HTC phones. Should I let the update go through or is there something I should do to stop it?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
If you haven't unlocked your bootloader and you let it go through then you will not be able to root your device for the time being.

Root it now and update later

Do not allow the OTA to go thru. Root your phone and install the Mod by Justin (nitsuj) to get rid of the ota notification. If you want to root and not change your stock DNA it is possible. Then you can flash the custom rom of your choice later. My advice is to read up on all roms and kernels. How-to's before you root and make your decision on the best route to go. If you need help look for a RD/RC (Recognized Dev/Contributor) and some one will be happy to assist you. Or you can always post openly in the Q&A sections.
I have unlocked the BL installed cwm rooted and now have s-off what file do I need to stop the ota?

Warning

I have been reading thorough the returning to stock post in lg general Dev. A lot of people are softbricking or bootlooping by flashing OTA an edited recovery.
Before you flash any OTA you must return to stock.
Just a word of warning. If I'm misinformed someone please correct me but that's what I got from reading.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm sure anyone that would be looking in the development threads would be looking for development so they might pass over this thread. In turn they will end up 'softbricking' their device because they didn't return to stock before hand.
You should have posted this is the correct place.
Now everyone's phones are going to be messed up.

I just stuck on recovery after OTA, now I guess I have to unroot?, what that OTA does anyway? I was looking for more information but there is nothing out yet
Go look at the returning to stock post in general section. There is more instruction there.

if you can get in recovery, you are fine. Just have to clear some files and it will boot fine. It's "soft bricked" because it keeps trying to apply the OTA.
Sprint has an OTA?

If you have a nandroid backup, you should restore it. As soon as you restore it, you should flash back to stock. Then after your phone is clean, take the OTA and then root.

I'm not sure I've just seen lg in general has had updates being pushed.
However if we are on stock rooted ROM, shouldn't we be able to push the OTA? I'm not that versed in this.

Safe thing to do is to always flash back to stock to avoid any issues.
EDIT: Don't quote me on this but according to a Sprint G2 user in the thread below that if you have the stock recovery and didn't flash TWRP, you should be able to take the OTA without having to flash back to stock.

Yup on stock recovery right now . Gonna hold off tho because I've been reading that someone is making an update we can flash over top with TWRP. I'll just figure out what I want to do once everything is clear and settled. I'd love some better/stronger signal.

Good Info
Thanks for the post. I myself was applying the software downloads for my D800 At&t Variant. I am currently stuck right now and your explanation helps make a little sense of what is happening to my phone. I was stuck at the cm boot animation and tried to do a wipe and restore and a bunch of other stuff and nothing was working. Decided to flash back using the software from that thread, however the flash was listed as successful, but upon getting to the main screen of the os, keyboard doesn't come up, no signal or wifi, then after a minute or two the phone will just reboot. My thoughts are either that I have the OTA software missing key components from the original stock, or my efs is shot, in which case I am concerned. Just got this phone and would love to fix it. I will hunt for original software.
I had done a full lg stock backup through CWM and then exported that to my computer. Would that contain my efs info?
Thanks
