Hey
I'd like to change some pictures in the framework, but I don't really understand the signing procedure.
So I found the App Ninja Morph, that can change pictures within an apk. Does this work with the framework-res.apk?
Thank you
FireRider
Yup
And no need to sign if u use the right zip program

OK thank you very much.
So there are two easy ways to modify the framework-res.apk right?
First one with Ninja Morph an the second with 7Zip (and I think with adb? because with Root Explorer it failed...) Or are there more?
Ninjamorph will only mod pics within an apk whereas u can push an entire apk with adb.
Ive managed to use winrar instead of 7zip to accomplish the same result!

There are two basic methods for changing icons. 1) using ninjamorph and only using the device. 2) using 7zip, winrar, etc on your pc to make the changes them moving the modified apk to your phone.
Are you getting any specific errors and what are you trying to change? I assume your phone is rooted, busybox installed and superuser set to allow?

i'm not getting an error at all... everything does fine.. but after i reboot there is no change at all... and i'm just confused on how to edit it on the computer... b/c they say open it but don't extract.. so how can i change the files without extracting? and yes i'm rooted.. and have busybox
i'm trying to change icons in the notification bar......
Are the images you are replacing the right file type? Afaik its not a problem...
On the pc if you are using 7zip, right click on the framework and hit open archive.
Check out calums theme sticky for further instruction if you take that route.

So, for instance, using Ninja Morph I could change the background of SE dialer?
i've searched for calums theme sticky and can't find it...any help with a link?
thanks

Ninjamorph issue
Hey everyone,
I've been using Ninjamorph for awhile, changing png's in framework-res.apk ith much success... that is until I tried changing a specific one and now everything is fc'ing (clockwokmod, root explorer, settings... even Ninjamorph!) The png in question is the first on the list: activity_title_bar.9.png
Can anyone help me on how to fix this? I still have the original png but without any use of Ninjamorph or RootExplorer, what can I do?!
Try rebootin if you aint tried that usally wrks for me

using x10 didn't work. Why?
im using a xperia x10a and i did the changes in the framework then when ninja morph ask me to reestart i hit ok but the phone didn't start, it stays on the sony ericsson logo...
why this happened? can someone help to do the right things on my x10 and change the icons and status bar colors in my phone
THANKS A LOT!
How to use Ninja Morph
After reading of others success using Ninja Morph I purchased it. I replaced one image in my Framework-res.apk. When I finalize the project, should I select that the project needs to be installed or just copied? How do you move the new apk into the active configuration on the phone? Do I need to use ADB to push it?
No computer atm so I can't grab one from the i9000 forums and change the things needed to be changed. Would someone please port one or make one for this rom. Thank you
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
You can grab any theme from the I9000 forum that's compatible with Darky's Rom and flash away. Just delete the services.jar for the .zip file before flashing it or it will break the phone fix...
Hope that helped!!!!!

I know but I don't have a computer so I can't unzip it to do so :-/

You don't have to un-zip it just use asto (free market download) to get inside the .zip file, The services.jar is located inside the system/framework file.
Hope that helped...
Hi to all. First i'm new in this forum and at whole in android. Sorry if there is a thread like this or the place is not here and sorry for my bad english
I have a few questions about my Samsung Galaxy Young - 5360.
1. How to edit the status bar icons like battery, 3G , etc.
2. How to make a folders in the menu coz i have 7 pages of apps , and its out of order ( shuffle). This is for now.
P.S.
I'm talking about the stock rom. I don't wanna a custom rom , prefer the original one. And the phone is not rooted, but i will if need.
Thanks to all , and have a nice evening.
Well for the status bar you need to mod the SystemUI.apk which can be found in /system/app you pull it to your computer extract using a program like win rar go to res folder edit the pngs you want then put the res folder with moded files back to the archive and then using root explorer or adb(you need root) replacebthe original one with the moded one.As for the folders in drawer I suggest ylusing a different launcher lile adw or go launcher and make categories. For this you don't need root.

Thanks for the info bro. But how to go to system/app and then how to mod this .apk file ?
You can use root explorer and then just long press the apk until a mebu shows up and then select copy after that navigate to the sd card and then click paste. After that just mount the sd card on your computer and you can then copy it on a local hard drive

Do some search buddy...... you will gain more if you search yourself......
Nyways heres the LINK which may be of great help.........
This was my first guide for development......
What you can do is flash stock rom and get cwm to it
Then go to backup in cwm and create firmware.zip
It will do all the stuff for u and just place this file in the input folder!
So can I create gaming ROM by using this Android Kitchen??
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
By Gaming, you mean Fast and No Lags? You could make a rom faster than stock with the Kitchen but this was designed to work with all Devices so its just a basic tool here. For real performance, you need to do device specific tweaks and all so you ought to learn to do it manually

Someone is back
Nothing is like a real gaming rom unless u overclock gpu and give it more ram
Term we(not me) use as gaming Rom is that we keep more ram free and high minfree values so that good amount of ram is available for the game
So I have to do tweaks to make a lag free ROM??
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yup Take a look at some of the roms released here to get an idea of the tweaks normally used

you will have to tweak so as to reduce lag and also get more free RAM which can be used to play games.........
Take a look at OOM Groupings, Dalvik Cache and also tweaking the CFS ( Thunderbolt Script would be an ideal base to start with ) These give the most noticeable improvements
The most famous tweaks is thunderbolt right?? Do I have to do manually or what?? Step by step instruction to do a custom ROM please..... if not then nevermind!!!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The best way to learn is to download any custom rom, go through the entire thing yourself And take a look at my guide for making cwm flashable zips and you'll be able to understand how things work What you do is open Thunderbolt tweaks zip and go through the files in it and try to understand the code

You are smart, that's why you understand the thunderbolt codes....
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Its not very hard mate Just go through a few simpler scripts first and then you'll quickly understand it too I started understanding what these scripts do a week into my development start, but it wasnt till later i realised its just basic Shell scripts Learn Shell Scripting for linux and you'll be able to understand these commands easily

Meta.INF contains just the updater script which is run when you select the .zip file in CWM.......
any more knowledge would be more helpful.........
This is just what the OP says. Nothing more, nothing less.
Its a flash-able zip file with script to unzip system to system. There are two folders preset in system; app and framework.
Good for making your own mods and distributing them.
Do NOT use this to distribute a ROM!
I seen someone try that once.... Wasnt good!
Usage:
Put files in zip using 7zip or WinRar.
Flash it
You can edit the updater-script to take out www.scottsroms.com and put in what you want using Notepad++
If you need help feel free to ask.
You should check out ZIPme on Google Play. You can add the files you want from your phone and create the update.zip

1) I assume this is ok to use for flashing the google keyboard?
2)If so, do permissions need to be set? Anything else a noob might need to know?

It is okay for flashing a keyboard yes. You will use like 7zip or winter to open but not extract the zip and drag and drop your keyboard apk into /system/app.
Permissions are set for you too.
As for why you want it, check out this as it may be what you want and more.
