Is there a way I can get the MOTOBLUR social status widget on eclipse??

I think you would have to use 6.1 remix, although I'm not seeing it in the Eclipse thread anymore.
If you don't want to use the regular apps themselves (i.e. FB, Twitter, etc.), use friendcaster. The Blur widgets are based on the blur apps/accounts being baked into the oe product. He can't use Blur and AOSP both, one or the other, and more people than not would rather use AOSP.

I sincerely hope remix is not dead, but I fear the worst. It'd be so nice to see it updated for GB 2.3.4.
Should be in general section((just saying ))
Remix was put in hold as far as I know. Might not be completely dead.
but we do have a functional remix. 6.1

Yeah, Eclipse remix 6.1 is stable, but it's based on GB 2.3.3 and there are so many nice fixes and improvements in GB 2.3.4. (like a fix for the music skip problem, better radio, better battery performance and better graphics).
HOWEVER, mastafunk recently put out a new deodexed/debloated enhanced stock Moto-ROM based on 2.3.4 called Moto-Ginger-Funk. It's absolutely awsome and and beats the pants off remix, in my very humble opinion. I'm on it now and lovin' it.
There are only two AOSP apps in it - Gallery and Music. (Because these are simply better than their Blur counter parts.) It's quick with fantastic battery performance. It's got the pull-down toggles, 1% battery indicator, and other enhancements. And it's easily themeable. He's working on porting several themes and UOT Kitchen works with it.

I just don't have resources to sbf ATM so im stuck for now ;(
And if remix is ever brought to 2.3.4 it would be an exciting day. I can just see it having big improvement over 2.3.3 version

Yes, an updated Eclipse remix, with the features that Nitro has added to his AOSP version would be great. But I'm not holding my breath. It's just that some folks like Blur and some folks don't.
What do you mean by sbf ATM? (I think I've seen that "ATM" abreviation before, but I'm having a memory block.)

I'm currently on EB01, voodoo undervolt kernel from imnuts07, and I'm quite liking it... but I'm slightly bothered by the severe drop-off in theme creation lately, because the Fascinate is, well, old. I hopped on the Fascinate train reeeeeal late and will have it for a while still... I've heard good things about CM 6.2.0 and CM7 (the ones JT put out, because he loves us all), especially involving themes, should I switch? I never use camcorder or BT calling, and only rarely use MMS; but is it worth the whole backup-wipe-restore pain in the ass?
Sorry for the wall of text. I worry quite a bit about my phone, but have a huge interest in moving it forward. Hell, I don't really have any problems with Touchwiz, but Cyanogenmod just seems kinda, I dunno... badass, or something.
Suggestions please?

Well, if you really want themes. Hop on CM7 and basically you can flash any CM7theme on http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=527
or wait couple weeks or months(depends on source drop) for better CM7.
Huh. That's actually really cool. Other than the few broken things and the amass of themes, is it that much different from what I have now?
there are dozens of themes available for froyo....you could flash 1 a day and it would take weeks to get through all of them
i dont see how this phone can be accused of having a lack of themes at all

well it slowed relative to how it was after froyo dropped as we had to report themes daily so for a month or two tons of stuff came out
but relative to the thunderbolt which is new...we still have just as many themes coming out....to each his own in preference
but one doesnt need 3 new themes a day
personally i used to port a lot of themes but as a grew as a themer i started getting into doing a better job and putting in more detail so things take longer...also i dont use others original work anymore....so im not putting out 2-3 a week anymore
Alright, not hopping after all, as after looking, the majority of those themes are for CM7, and Fascinate's CM7 is so broken....
I'm loving cm6...best performance to date by far...haven't even thought about jumping to cm7

Yes, I've found out the hard way that even trying bt on cm7 forced a battery pull, so it's definitely not for everyone at this point. But it is _awesome_ to be running a usable gingerbread rom that I can build myself! (i love you jt)
cm6.2 is definitely more stable but exchange push issues led me to give cm7 a try. So far no exchange issues with cm7 but I won't know for sure until monday...
btw I noticed that cm6 had perfect audio on a2dp vs stock eb01 that was glitching on me at least every 15 min w/pandora.
noobidity update:
neglected wiping dalvik cache on first flashing which caused several issues that I wrongly attributed to cm7. A2DP _does_ work on cm7.

So I've been wanting to check out upgrading my phone to AOSP GB and right now I'm looking at either CM7 or OMFGB. Only thing is, I can't really find all that much about what's different about each one to make a good decision about which one I should actually get. Can anyone help me out here?
MMS isn't working for me on OMFGB and it was working on CM7. No screen rotation for me on OMFGB. My radio would die pretty frequently on CM7 but I've been on OMFGB all day without it dying once. CM7 has more customization options.
CM7 Test build 10 is the way to go!
OMFGB is very hard to install, i couldnt get my wifi to turn on...It looks like it has cool features but i cant live with out wifi.
I also ran into an issue where i flashed the udated GAPPS and when i went into camera it would landscape and i couldnt get it back to portrait in the launcher!
Small things like that made me revert back to CM7

omgb just came out last night...it ll take a few builds to get close to the functionality of cm7 most likely
that being said, on a level playing field (on other phones) its about what you want
cm7 is more of a feature rich aosp that sacrifices some performance (i say some as for many its negligible) for more fuctionality and tweaks
omgb is more of a pure aosp a long the lines of something straight from google, but they do add more features
being more of a purist id imagine myself preferring the latter

It's the same, both use Theme Chooser so CM7 themes will work with OMFGB.
So do we have a decent AOSP only ROM for the X2? I was looking through some of the ROMs since I'm really tired of the stock blur and it's incredibly slow rendering, and it seems that there aren't any AOSP roms. Except of course for the CM7 ROM which is still Alpha and doesn't have working bluetooth. About the only thing I like in the blur setup is the voice recognition, it seems much clearer and better apt to recognize voice commands than the stock.
Short answer is no. But I'm sure there are a few in the works right now. Just gotta sit tight.

Figures. I got this phone because I assumed it would be unlocked eventually like every other one out there and unfortunately it seems we got shafted this time. I can't believe there is no unlock and no AOSP ROMs yet.

No unlock still bug dragonzkiller has an alpha going of cm7 that's 100% blur free. Still has a couple bugs and is in alpha still but beta should be out any day now. Check the thread in android developement

Yeah but according to his thread blue tooth still isn't working and I use it daily.
The beta will bring a lot of fixes and dragonzkiller is squashing more bugs every day. I'm not sure about bluetooth but it looks like most of the other major issues (init hogging resources, no external sdcard, DSPManager crashing) ; have been taken care of.
That's good to know, but I still need that blue tooth. I have to have it since I have to use hands free devices while driving.

Just have to have a little patience. Dragonzkiller is working hard on cm7. I'm confident that he'll get it working soon. Even though cm7 is in alpha right now, it's still pretty usable. But, like all early releases, it has its fair share of bugs. But, I'm glad he released it to let us see what's been accomplished so far and it's pretty good for being alpha.

Remember quite a few of us, including myself, acquired the DX2 on Day 1 and have had NO AOSP ROM until now with CM7DX2 thanks to 2nd-init. More ROMs will probably go the full AOSP route now that 2nd-init is working now.

Yup, Eclipse is probably the best ROM out there still based on BLUR. But, CM7 is by far the best current AOSP-only ROM and it's still in Alpha stage.
I love Eclipse, but because it still has some BLUR components in it, I still have to use Zep's V6 scripts to still get better performance out of the phone.
With CM7 Alpha right now, I don't have to tweak anything. The only thing I tweak settings-wise is increasing the SD Cache to 2048.
But it's nice to have a choices for the X2. Let's hope it stays that way.
Well, when the CM7 load gets working blue tooth I'll definitely switch over.

We should see it sometime today (1/16/2012) per Dragonzkiller unless something else comes up. He's currently beta-testing the next release of CM7 and that has bluetooth working, fixed the init process issue (100% cpu), and the sd card flip-flop.
Just as I get the Eclipse one all setup too...Oh well I hear CM7 is worth it. The last device I tried CM7 on was an original Moto Droid and it ran so slow, probably due to the older hardware. I'm very excited to see it run on something with dual cores.
Per Dragonzkiller on twitter, BT appears to be fixed!
Bluetooth was an easy fix once i spotted the problem. All I did was rewrite the bluedroid lib with some code from Motorola. Testing now.

Just curious what people think of the latest ROMs, what the fastest, smoothest, best looking are, etc...
Been using Scott's CleanROM ICS a lot and really like it, but was thinking to myself, that most of them seem to credit the same devs for various contributions and things... so in the end, are they all pretty much the same?
I know that if you ask a Dev they will say how theirs is different, but I would love to hear from end users who have used them all extensively, which ones they prefer and why.
I think that they are all great, but perhaps some are better in certain areas than others, and so a conversation that lays all that out might be beneficial to people who want to just to an ICS ROM, but don't know what one is right for them, and the "trial and error" process might be more than they are able to willing to tackle.
For reference, CM7 that I had on the DX is my all time favorite ROM, and it is the benchmark for me, so any ROM I go to, is to try and get as close to that experience as possible.
Thoughts?

Ok, cool, I will check that one out as well. Just ran a Nandroid backup so I guess I am ready to experiment. All of these latest versions are based off of the latest RUU, so I should not have to mess with that, or kernels for that matter, correct? Just the ROM itself, and if I don't like it, a simple Nandroid restore?
Of course I have to wipe data and cache before each install, but other than that, nothing else to do?

I'm running RezROM and loving it. One of the best things about the Rezound is the list of developers. Whether it's Bored, Nils, or Scott, their ROMS are rock solid and well-supported. Other devs are excellent, too, but these 3 are the ones I look to first.
ive been running Rezrom 3.1 on old firmware with the patch and it seems very nice. only small issue ive has was it seems like ringtones want to go off the media volume and not the ringtone volume setting but i think that is being worked on for the next version.
my only concern on the current wave of roms would be whether it could run on old firmware or not.

I would assume that patching the new ROMs to run on the old firmware will be phased out. It will probably be around for a little while to make it easy for those who may want to go back to GB. Since the new ICS ROMs are pretty much rock solid the only real reason anyone would want to do that is for returning their phone though. Once the official OTA comes I'm sure noone will be making the patches any more. I could be wrong though.
I kinda hope they keep making patches personally, I for one, have had no rush to get the leaked firmware, unless a ROM blows me off my feet that requires it, none have yet.
I've got a feeling that once the AOSP ROMs are working properly they will probably be built around the new firmware. The battery life improvement was worth the 20 minutes or so to do the flash for me. I assume with the patch to run the old firmware with the new ROMs the data arrows are working? Kind of a small thing, but sure is nice to have them back. LOL
Cleanrom DE is pretty nice, has an aosp feel but still has some sense parts, seems pretty smooth but I can never get any of the ics launchers as smooth as sense was
They are all great!!!
Personally I don't like running non official firmware. When HTC releases the official firmware we are probably going to have to go through the entire process again anyways. Also if HTC doesnt deem it fit for official release then i am not using it unless I am having a major issue that needs to be fixed. I wonder if the New firmware would fix my ics performance issues though
I am running ICS now as a daily driver on the old firmware. It is still a tad slower than gb performance wise for me. I have gone back and forth a couple times. I can see why people would want to stay on old firmware or gb til official ics is release. Hopefully ics performs a little better when it becomes official.
Sent from my Rezound
I used to love Sense, but as time has gone on I've grown kind of sick of it, plus it takes a heavy toll on the battery and resources. So now I've been looking for something closer to AOSP. The first ROM I used was Xtreme Outcast's ROM. It was slightly themed and close to AOSP. He hasn't updated in a while so I've tried scrosler's CleanROM DE, because he's on the newest leak, and so far I really like it. It's got some Sense elements, which I still have mixed feelings on, but it's really smooth, and has improved my battery life loads.
I am still using the original ICS leak based off 4.0.1. I have put so much time into it, and have it running so nearly perfectly that I am hesitant to even bother with the more recent leaks and will probably just hold off until official ICS is out or until AOSP RIL is working.

I just came from CM7. Didn't like it much. Too glitchy and just didn't like the overall look and feel. I had Eclipse before and that was my favorite until now. Just too many issues with CM7
- dock shortcuts would seem time change or dissapear on their own. Like I would boot up and there would be a star where the browser used to be. Or where the app drawer shortcut was. One time I pressed the browser button and ALL of my dock icons dissappeared.
- Widgets sometimes would be invisible. I could long press them where they should have been and it would let me delete them or move them. But they wouldn't show up.
- I had it in my dock and it showed it was plugged in and charging. Had like 95% battery when I plugged in. Woke up to a dead phone. 0% battery. Even if it wasn't charging, it would have made it through the night on 95%
And just some other weird stuff. Just didn't like it much. Sorry. I even tried wiping and reflashing. Still basically the same.
MIUI is running stable so far. And I love the look and feel.

If I recall the camera doesn't link or work right or something....I might still have a couple camera apks that worked for me if I remember correctly...of course no guarantees...I will look and see if I have them and will repost if I do with them attached

The camera works fine. Just the lockscreen link to it doesn't.

Ahh...ok I think that was a known issue if I remember correctly
The first apks is from the photon, if I am not mistaken, which I liked and used on miui and had much better luck with all the way around.
Maybe will help maybe not *shrugs*
Wow, I must say, I am surprised someone would choose a mui port over the Eclipse Rom. I have been running eclipse 2.1 for over a month now with v6SuperCharger and bloat removed, and this thing flies, no problems at all and the battery life is fantastic.

The OP might've never tried Eclipse or any other ROM for that matter.

ITT: ROM **** sizing and people who don't read. OP said he tried both eclipse and CM, guys. Let's all try to remember everyone has different preferences people! I personally loved MIUI and it's notifications, but overall it was too buggy for me to use as a DD on the DX2.
Tried it out on my brother's DX and it was MUCH better, so I'm hoping Ace will have an update for us sooner or later, althought much like DZK he's busy as well (IIRC he just recently lost his job after moving so that's taken priority numero uno).

SMH. You should read up more on MIUI, and TRY IT, before you put out your opinions/"assumptions." MIUI was created by Xiaomi Tech, a Chinese firm (dunno wtf you got arabs..), so it's not just some random dev's collaborating, but an actual company putting out the ROM for usage in handsets in Asia that got picked up by the rest of the Android community. And as far as open source, they announced back in February of this year that they were going to begin opensourcing their applications and ROM, which you can see over at their GitHub (google it..).

And fwiw the Chinese own the **** out of us when it comes to phone development. I believe they're responsible for a couple bootloader unlocks and gaining root access to the original x.
MIUI is pretty sweet; It was the first rom is successfully flashed and man I had a field day with it up until you tube....

Thanks thelowend. Yes I have tried Eclipse, and as I said it was my favorite. But MIUI is really cool. I think I like it because its so different. And everything seems so integrated. Like the notifications, I love how It gives a place for a reply right in the notification! That rocks! It just looks and feels more refined.
I am finding a few more bugs. Like Youtube not working, or any streaming video for that matter. Even some of my saved vids on the SD card dont want to play. And I can't record video either. All freeze after about 2 seconds of play/recording.
So far that is the biggest turn-off for me. I use youtube allll the time. Anyone know if they are working on this? I even tried the mobile site, and neither that or the app work.
Eclipse had its glitches too. But both are very good ROMs.
Oh one other glitch that really bugged me from CM7 is gapps kept FC'ing after a while and I would need to un-install and re-install it every so often.

No problem. Video play back was always odd for me on miui; there were certain sites were streaming would work perfectly and then there were ones that just never worked.
Nothing beats miui when it comes to customization
I think there was an update to the youtube app last month that enable you to stream videos from it.
