Touchpad USB Issues - TouchPad General

I cannot connect my touchpad to my laptop. It was working yesterday but not now. Once i click "usb drive mode" it brings up the screen for 5 seconds then takes it out of usb mode and says "please throw away all cards and retry" even when i have no cards open? Anyone having a similar issue? I am trying to install cm.

Have you tried a fresh reboot, them plug in USB?

Try a new USB cable I used a PSP USB cable for a while when my HTC hero USB cable stopped working properly. Just find some more USB cables and test them all.

You probably damaged the USB controller with ESD. You can try another USB port, but it's likely that all the ports are damaged (at least all the ports on that controller). Check the other ports on the PC. Most modern PCs have at least a couple of USB hubs built in. It is possible that a port on another hub or controller may work. Otherwise, you might be able to use a USB add in card in the computer if all the built-in ports are dead. They are relatively cheap if you have the slot in the machine to install one.

mount to PC is a known issue methinks. What is your current setup? Rom/kernel? and how are your settings? USB debugging set on/off? auto connect set to "ask on connection"?

Its common with the 2.2.1 roms. What you need to do is replace the vold.conf, and the vold.fstab files in system/ect. I have attached the ones you need. Just use root explorer and drop them in the ect folder, reboot, and test.

you should download toolbox from development section and the first option is to install drivers. once u run the program. install it and then test the usb cables. by the way i never charge my phone from a computer i like separate chargers so im using the charger for BB to charge my battery. its quicker as well.

Boston represent!!! Dorchester here. Its fool proof really. Just make sure you change the system to read/write in root explorer, and drop the files in the system/ect folder.

1. check if there is correct driver installed
2. check is USB cable is ok
3. use USB port from the back of your PC. front one sometimes it fail (happened to me several times))
4. check if you have "usb debugging" tick in "application - development"
could be one of these above situation....
Uninstalled and reinstalled driver got it to show up intermittently. My phone shows up everytime but the flyer only sometimes. I've tried every port with with multiple cables. I'm gonna see if it got better tonight. I'm trying to upgrade to 3.2 and don't want a brick because of a damaged micro usb port.
Thanks for the reply

have you tried to another computer?
If you have istalled latest adb and HTC driver and Java then i think it's like what happened to me, I couldn't get adb to work and my laptop seems like it didn't recognize my flyer..
nickiberli was kind enough and advised me to use his tool AndroidControl, you can find it in his sig..just navigate to the Android Control folder after you unpack it and start a command window from there and it will hopefully work..

[Q] USB Connection problem?

Hey, so when I try to connect my GS2 to the computer (via USB), it doesn't connect for some reason. After connecting it, it takes about 5 secs and it starts to charge but doesn't connect to the computer. I've tried a couple of different ROMs and also on 2 other computers and its the same result. I need help please. Thanks
First make sure drivers are installed if so then try another cable that could be the problem.

You are missing the drivers. Search via Google for the hardware ID or simply by the model of the phone.

I have had the drivers installed, and I tried my brother's HTC usb cable and it still doesn't work.
My thread is right above yours. There are USB port issues with this phone. Although I feel for you, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. If you have insurance take it back cuz it only gets worse. Flash stock while you still can, if you're not already running it. Trust me.

Same problem here and replacement is on the way, phone randomly thinks its charging, car mode turning on and such buy it is nice to know also that I am not the only one

[Q] Ho do you factory reset with broken screen?

My phones screen is broken.
Is there a way to factory reset the phone from my PC (via USB)?
Or can anyone tell me the exact key sequences (how many times you hit each button) to factory reset from the boot loader? My phone is rooted but I did not do anything special with the bootloader (this is verizon)
Thanks.
rsd lite is your friend hopefully.
why not try connecting the hdmi to your tv and reset from there.

Does plugging in the cable automatically enable HDMI (or is there some setting that needs to be changed)?
I like that idea and will order a cable assuming it is automatic (and assuming the touch screen still actually works
Thanks.

Mounting Problem

hello guys.
i have Amaze for months and had no problems, but for now, i'm pissed off.
my phone doesn't mount Disk drive.
i mean, when i plug it on usb, there is an error pop-up saying "Usb Device Isn't Recognized" and it starts to charge.
i tried 3 different cables, did a full wipe, changed rom, kernel, but still no luck.
i'm running latest Energy rom w/ faux's kernel, S-OFF-ed, rooted, 4Ext recovery.
any ideas?
Might try a card reader. If it reads ok, backup all the contents then format the card. ( fat 32 I think) better check.
Just an idea.

i discovered another thing, when i insert usb in my phone, it says that usb isn't recognized, but when phone is plugged about 1.5-2h, than Disk Drive mounting appears and i can mount my phone as usb storage.
i'm confused
