Put the ROM file on your sd card
Boot into recovery and chose flash zip from sd card or something like that.

Oh, you mean Stock Recovery. Stock Recovery won't allow flashing of a custom rom. If you have an update.zip of the stock rom, then you could flash it. You have to use a custom recovery e.g ClockworkMod Recovery to flash a custom rom.

CWM ROM manager keeps crashing and freezing after cy9 flash

Hi, I have been trying to figure this out for hours.
I flashed cyanogen mod 9 using rom manager from my stock rooted 19300. All went smoothly but now with cyanogenmod 9 Rom manager is really temperamental and keeps not responding when I try to use it.
Anyone any help? Please go easy with the tech terms I am a total beginner.
I also noted cyanogen mod 9 has no file explorer but I found root manager seems to do the trick. Took me a while to figure that out aswell.
Cool ROM though!:good:
Hope someone can help me out.
don't use rom manager, allegedly it's buggy. also, why ICS? we now live in a JB world

It was my first flash. I thought it was fairly new? How do I get JB? Where can I find the ROM file?
Thanks for the reply
So clockwork rom Manager seems to be ok now.
But another issue thats really bugging me is that CW rom manager won't recognise my ext sd card.!
Anyone any ideas
same answer, don't use it. find roms in the roms section

Ok cheers, So what would you recommend I use instead for backing up ROM's etc. CWM just makes things so easy for installing ROM's from the phone. Is there another app that will do this.
On cyanogemod 9 CWM seems to be a system app also. So cant really go delete it.

Use the recovery menu. What you are doing is not ment to be easy. You have to understand what you are doing or you will end up in an unhappy place now that your warranty is voided.

Never had warranty in the first place. Have to learn somehow so no point being afraid of it. So what your saying is use cwm manually so to speak instead of backing up roms and flashing new rom through the app?

Yes. Rom manager has caused issues as long as i can remember, to the point that even some devs advice not to use it at all.

Yep CWM recovery as it states on the tin CWM Manager is no longer updated or supported .
jje
Im kind of confused. Is cwm recovery not rom manager? Do i have rom manager or cwm recovery
Im going to attach screen shots.
So is this what i should use? Or is it recommended to use something else.
If i shouldnt use it, what will happen if i delete it seen as it's a system app and what's a good replacement?

No Rom manager is not CWM recovery. It is an app that is supposed to work with the cwm recovery.
All the options you need are in recovery when you boot directly to recovery from the reboot menu.

[Q] Followed tutorial, Unlocked Bootloader, Pda net, Superuser, still no root access?

Good morning guys,
Im not even sure where to start because im just getting into programming. I just tried to root my HTC rezound last night, so I followed the tutorial to the letter. Everything went very well by all accounts, except after unlocking bootloader, pda net, installed superuser, but yet when I try to verify that I have root access the phone does not recognise the root. Does anyone have any ideas why this could be? Ill be more than happy to post whatever information you might need in helping me figure this little problem out.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure about a stock Rom, but I did a custom recovery and haven't touched s-on or s-off yet. I did unlock the bootloader and pda net using the walkthrough found at the htcdev.com /bootloader site. I don't know if I just need to find another walkthrough to finish the rooting process or if I'm way off here. The phone itself still works as good as ever so at least I didn't brick it. I feel like I'm close or at least on the right track.

pull your battery and re insert it.
hold vol down button and power until you get the white bootloader screen
The top should say unlocked in pink
if you have a custom recovery it will also say tampered in pink
since you are new and not sure, to continue we need to verify this
what does it say?

I can only get to Downloading Mode and Recovery Mode. Can somebody tell me what I can flash in Odin to get my device just back to fully stock with everything on it so I can just start completely over? I've tried 3 different things and it's just all gone to crap now. I don't know how to use Odin for the most part so I'll need step by step instructions. I'll pay whatever. I need my phone up and running.

you'll have to wait for a .tar file made for our phone
I think you can still recover it to stock by resetting it
get to recovery mode and chose wipe data do that at least 3 times
after that do a restart and it should be fine

I can speak as somebody in the same boat, wipe data doesn't work. I tried changing my dpi, so the build.prop is only modified file and that option does not work.
OP, did you modify something, or remove apps, or what? If you are down an app, get the sys dump from the other thread, pull it apart, and sideload through adb. might work, but adb does not mount system, so it might be an exercise in futility.
So there isn't even a stock rom available? What about flashing one for AT&T?
Here: Download the right Firmware for your carrier. Then flash with ODIN. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2461203
Unfortunately us I527 users will have to put up with stock ROM with Root until a dev chooses to support us.

Sad part is that none of those are for our device. I just need somebody to get me the stock firmware for our version and hopefully that's all I'll need.
well i see no official stock roms for i527 so maybe look at the few custom ones there are. thats only way to get your system partition restore and the core apps replaced that you removed.

Volume down is download mode.
Hold menu, power and volume up at the same time.
If you have a custom recovery (likw cwm ClockWorkMod) then you would be able to flash a dorimanx kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219) I would download a 7.x version (newest) and flash it through cwm. Or, of course, if you want a different rom then flash the rom like Muthzer the One said.

[Q] Phone won't turn on

Hey,
I have a Galaxy Note I717M under bell, running complete stock, and recently, it just decided it doesn't want to turn on anymore.
I can still access download mode and recovery mode, but when I try to boot into system I get stuck at the samsung logo.
Is my phone soft bricked? Am I able to flash a new rom and move on? If so, am I able to recover all my data that's currently on the phone?
Thanks in advance!
