When I'm reading forums, like xda, I like to open about 10 links at once. Opening them and having to flip back 10 times is not acceptable. Is there a way to add the option to open in the background tab? All other replacement browsers do this.
Hey I could do that easily by going to Browser - > Settings -> Advanced -> Open in background !
I'm using TW !!

OK, i have rooted my Nook Tablet 8GB; done the journey of unknown sources (it was so frustrating); installed amazon market and Google play!
I have a few questions that i could not get answers to. Here are all of them in one post. Please note that i read all the threads for new users and when i was not able to find a satisfactory answer, i made this thread.
Here are the questions:
1. My first issue is getting 3rd party apps on the home screen. I know you can install the App Manager and ask it to add to app shelve. They do not open from App shelve and then i have to go through another step of adding them to home screen. This takes a lot of time. How to add them directly to home screen of stock NT. If that is NOT possible, how to add them to shelve and run from there ? (When i try to run them from the shelve, i get the option to manage them. Nothing about running them)
2. Where do the files/apk that i download from the default browser go to ? Along with that where does Aurora and Dolphin browser save downloaded files ? What is the best browser to use (Read, i definitely need tabs !!)?
3. How to resolve widgets not loading in Go Launcher and Zeam Launcher ? Which Launcher do people prefer the most? I love Zeam because it allows a gazillion apps on one app screen. How to add Go Widgets to Go Launcher (Every time i try to download them, Google play says that they are not compatible)?
4. How to add widgets to the stock NT home screen ? Clock and weather specifically ? How to add/remove pages to home screen of stock NT ?
5. How to add epub/mobi to stock nook app and kindle ?
6. How to move all the apps to memory card ? they are eating a lot of space on my internal !
I know that's a lot of questions but i do not prefer to make a lot of threads for each question.
Thanks a ton.
Can't help with 1. It's been too long since I was on stock and that was 4.1.0 and before B&N blocked sideloading.
I use Dolphin Browser Mini. It has tabs and is understandable. Downloaded file go on sdcard in download folder under dolphin_browser_mini. I suspect stock stores in the download folder in the root of sdcard.
I use Go Launcher and don't have issues with widgets. I'm on the sdcard version of CM7. Go Launcher works well for me, although I have heard of some having trouble with it. When you long press where you want the widget don't forget to select the widget menu.
Can't help with the stock screen.
There are a number of ebook readers - Nook, Kindle, Aldiko to name a few. Download from Play. There are free ebooks, a google search. It takes some patience to get the covers, but if you use the list mode instead of bookshelf you can see the title.
To move the apps, go to your app manager and long press the app. You will get a screen that will allow it to be moved to sd and a lot more options.

Sorry if this sounds a bit dumb, but is there a quick way to skip directly to the internet browser homepage (apart from creating a new window in the menu)?
I was expecting an icon to do it somewhere.
On my old HTC phone there was a menu command to do this directly.
Thanks
No.
HTC added that to their browser. Standard Android and even the Samsung browser do not have this.
Most 3rd party browsers too.
I'm not using touchwiz ATM, but I believe that you can just add a bookmark shortcut to your home screen. Then just use that shortcut to access the Internet and it will always open your homepage first.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, a bookmark to the homepage seemed an obvious workaround.
I was just thinking that I must have been missing a really obvious button somewhere!
The fastest way I've seen is inside the browser, open up the options and select New Tab. It will open your homepage.
I have a couple of questions to which I have not been able to find any answers to.
Is there anyway that the default search engine in Android can be changed from google to something else of my choosing, e.g. startpage.com? I don't mean the browser search but the google search in android.
How do I set the default browser to be something other than the stock browser, i.e. clicking on links within other apps (like e-mail) would open my browser of choice instead of the stock browser? I'd like to use FF as my default browser but cannot find anywhere that I can set it as default.
I'm using stock GB 2.3.4.
For the default browser question go to settings>applications and find the current default browser. Click it and you should see a "clear default" button at the bottom. Open up a link and then it will give you the browsers on which you want to open the apps with. Click on wet as default and select the browser of your choice.
Edit: Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All

The google search engine is a widget. So you should probably try searching if there is a widget available for your prefered search engine.
@ephraim033. I forgot about the default flag settings for apps in the settings menu.
@iamafrk. I didn't realise the Google search was a widget. You learn something new every day. Unfortunately a widget doesn't exist for startpage.com. I wonder what's involved in creating one. Something I'll look into when I have time.
Hi everyone,
I need some help with the YouTube app because for the life of me, I cannot get it to go into tablet UI.
I am using the AOKP ROM: [ROM]LF6/AOKP/PA[July16th] |KING-KANG| 'Chasing Unicorn's Swagger'
What I've tried:
The phone's general UI is default and I believe that is in Phone mode. My approach is to change each app to tablet UI individually so I pick which ones stay in phone interface and which ones are in tablet.
I go into Paranoid Settings > List of apps > Youtube
I change the UI to Tablet; DPI to Tablet. I've tried Force Scaling on and Force Scaling off.
I clear the data for the app in System > Apps
When I launch YouTube, I get a more spacious Phone UI. I want the 3D thumbnail wall UI for YouTube that I had when I had a tablet.
Has anyone else found a solution for this?
Thank you in advance
I forgot to add that I have the Galaxy Note SGHi717. (AT&T)
I wish I could get Safari onto Android because when I was on iPhone, it was so easy to use.
I can't find a browser that has these features and it's annoying.
- Swipe back and forth to go back or forward a page (not tab) - This feature is available on iPhone Safari
- URL shows the actual url not the Title of the website. (UC Browser / Baidu)
- No FONT Boosting - I can't read Reddit without hurting my eyes. (Chrome)
- No search bar - Why do I need both a URL and a search bar when the URL can do both.. (I'm looking at you UC Browser)
- AdBlock
- No TABS - I need my space and tabs take up too much space. I just want a URL bar with a refresh button
If anyone knows a browser with those features, please do tell. Or someway to get Safari onto Android?
