[Q] Cannot hear phone calls after flashing custom rom - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

After flashing a custom rom, I lost the ability to hear anything on the phone when calling out or being called. This was my first time flashing a custom rom so maybe i missed something during the process. I did a factory reset but still no sound while making and receiving calls. Please help me resolve this issue.

You most likely flashed a rom from the GT-I9000 international Galaxy S2- You need to use odin to flash stock firmware and modem, the thread can be found in the development section.

you might want to reflash the right modem. You can find it in the development section

That worked like a charm. Thanks.

Next time, make sure to flash ROMs intended for the I777.
ROMs intended for the I9100 will have the following issues:
1) Telephone functions flaky if working at all
2) Bottom buttons nonfunctional

Absolutely. Being a newbie to android, this was a lesson well learnt.

Yeah should be able too I imagine there's stock roms posted in the Galaxy S2 forum somewhere.
Yeah just visit samsfirmware site and download the version your phone came with or something newer and official for your country. Flash it and your ready.

Yeah that's fine. What VERSION are you running? Is the zip file corrupt?

Android Version 2.3.5
Kernel Version 2.6.35.11
Build Number:GINGERBREAD.UVKID
My phone is rooted and i have root access. I don't understand why my roms won't flash. All fresh roms not corrupted there fine. It keeps giving me (status 1) errors. I don't know what that means.
Sorry, I meant what version of Cwm?

As you stated, you have an SGH-T989. Why are you even in this forum? This forum is specifically for the GT-I9100, which is the unlocked international version. There's a forum specifically for your phone. You should be there. The Skyrocket has it's own forum too. I would suggest you be VERY careful about what you flash to your phone, and where it comes from. If you don't end up being careful, you will end up with an expensive paperweight.

Lost connection.

Hey there!
First of i want to tell you that i don't know if this is the right section to post this in otherwise tell me please.
Okay so i am having a big problem with my connection, it drops at random and never reconnects till i reboot my device. I am having this problem since i changed my kernel and my rom to sensation rom. I had another kernel and lite 'ning rom before. Now im wondering what could be causing the connection loss. The kernel or the rom or could it be both?
I hope someone can help me with this cause it is rather annoying not recieving important calls.
Peace

Not if you read the rules .
Question = Q&A which is logical .
Stock rom and test is the only way .

What model is you phone (international, T, G etc)? I have an I9100t which has a different modem to the international version. When I flash a new rom I reflash a T version modem.

Cousin: S2 stock
Me: S3 rooted
I got it to work
For anyone out there you need to have a cwm kernel installed then from there go onto your favored kernel. If you can get cwm touch to boot up problem is with the rom or in my case the gapps i installed with it. Other than that it's good
Glad u got it. Ur post wasn't clear.---but u say the problem wasn't the Rom, it was the gapps U flashed...hmmmm. Just messin lol.

Rodgers note on At&t

Whats is the difference in the att and the rogers note? Can I just flash the att firmware on the rogers note and not have any problems?

Hi,
Yes, you can flash the AT&T firmware to the Rogers Note. I have flashed many firmwares onto my Rogers Note with no issues so far. Just make sure that you follow the steps completely or else you risk having a bricked device.
Do you know where theres a guide I cant find anything on how to do it

Do you have something to flash roms with? Like TWRP2 or CWM?
If so, the steps are pretty straight forward for most roms:
1) Wipe Cache / Factory Reset
2) Install ROM
3) Wipe Cache/Dalvik
Sometimes there can be a Step 2b where you need to flash GAPPS.
If you don't have TWRP2 or CWM (I prefer TWRP2) you can find it here for the Note:
TWRP2
EDIT: These are the steps are what I've seen for ATT roms on Rogers. I have an ATT Note and cannot confirm this for you, but I've seen others have success.

That doesn't help you. That is a link on how to root but it doesn't include the necessary steps for a Canadian Note. Go here to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775263
Then install your ROM. You didn't mention if you wanted rooted, debloated, or completely stock. :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740367
Completly stock unrooted

Does the same process work to put it on tmobile?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Yes. You will have to root the phone first to put another carrier's firmware on the phone. And then you will have to find the ROM of your choice. Most unrooted stock ROMs are going to be odin flashable *.tar files. And I don't believe they can be flashed to a different phone. Your best choice in my opinion would be to look for a stock rooted version that can be flashed by a custom recovery.
Is there a way to change the baseband its still showin rogers baseband version but everything is working except software upgrade

All you have to do is install the ATT ICS UCLF5 modem through CWM.
http://d-h.st/tjh
I dont have a custom recovery installed
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Well you didnt want that modem anyway. You want UCLF6. If you flashed using odin there should have been a new modem installed too. Will have to look for the radio to be flashed by odin. Searching now.
Here is a link for the entire UCLF6 ROM with the modem(baseband) included: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/162779447/3bb6230/I717UCLF6_I717ATTLF6_ATT.zip.html

Sorry I really can't help you anymore than that. I originally thought you couldn't even flash a stock ROM through odin on a different carrier's phone but I now believe you can. And if you can then that ROM I directed you to would have wiped and made your phone to look exactly like the ATT version including the baseband. You followed that tutorial to a tee? Did you use odin to install the ATT ROM originally? Must be something we are missing here. Hope one of the pros chime in.
Yea used odin for all eveything is at&t except the baseband
