Ok new thread. Postive feedback posts about the evo3d. While I was at mall with the wife I stopped at the iphone store to check out the iphone 4 and compared it to my evo3d needless to say it was no comparison at all. I had the apple rep in awe even when I was on mobile I totally smashed the iPhone in ever aspect. When I went on wifi the rep put his little I can't do anything phone away and asked to check out mine. Of course Im like no. No one touches the evo3d but me. I did go on to show him I was over clocked and that the 3d was an added bonus even though I used it all but like 4 times. Also showed him the evo3d has flash. He was shocked. I think he might be headed towards a sprint store lol. Just wanted to share. Also the screen size is way smaller than what I thought. On tv it always looked bigger, but its so tiny compared to my superior phone. And I see my thread got removed "bummer" but a it was fun while it lasted. Thanks to all who posted postive feedback about the evo3d. Gotta love xda.

I'm liking this phone. Gotten a bit more out of it with the "perm-temp" root. Wont be perfect until I can flash stuff (will also make theming a hell of a lot easier for myself).
How did the quality of the EVO's 3d screen compare to the iPhone. Not talking about size. Would like to know if it makes our screen look dated or if the EVO had it's own.

Me to. I just keep checking for that magical day when I log on and see its a go for sure. Also looking forward to your themes man. And I did the permatemp root and it made this phone superior to ever other phone I had. I also left the house for church at 10:am running oc @ 1.8. After church hit the mall with the wife and wished I was somewhere else but I checked out my Facebook, checked email, sent a few, sent a over a 100 text easily, stopped at the iPhone store, talked to my family for about 20/25 min made a few more calls,and took about 11 or 12 photos and when I got home which is when I posted this thread my battery was still at 52%. To me that's great battery life to be oc @ 1.8

Fack all the haters! The phone is awesome! The camera is great! I just need a custom theme and ad free android and I'm good. Its too bad they aren't promoting the phone more. I've seen more sensation commercials than 3vo.

My bad thought I should have mentioned that. Man the evo3d held up great. On some photos on the iphone looked better at first. And some looked better on the 3d. But then we blu toothed the exact pics to the opposite phone and the results were the same IMO. The iPhone screen was nice but its no qhd. The rep was even shocked at the 3d picture quality. Only thing I had to adjust was the brightness on the 3d because under that store light which I think is fluorescent I was seeing myself in the pics. On websites the 3d out performed it hands down I can say. On the iPhone websites look small for one and blurry. I cleaned my glasses off and the both phone screens and same thing the rep told me after you have the phone for a while it looks normal. My reply was mine wins.

Come to think of it your absolutely right. I haven't seen a evo3d commercial in a while. I wonder why?? I agree is awsome. And I thought I read someone was able to get ad free working?? I could be wrong though. And themes would be oh so an lovely bonus. Id love to have Hc3d,Darkhorse and Black funk off top. And I wish I knew how how to make the stock msg app have a black background. That would be smooth to me.

I haven't seen a single Sensation commerical but have seenan HTC EVO 3D commercial pretty much everyday (and I don't watch any TV other than Netflix). I went to Sonny's yesterday (was great btw) and they had 4 TVs all showing the same channel and guess what I noticed when I glanced over? An Htc EVO 3D commercial .
P.S. I'm in Florida, Sprint heavily advertises everywhere. Last Sunday I saw a movie and the previews showed the 3D commercial.

Yea sprint does advertise in florida heavily...everytime i go to my local movie theater...sprint advises me politly to turn my phone to silent mode...but in my head i was like yea biotches sprint the shiznit! Lol jk

We have carmike cinema's in Wisconsin a yeah almost all sprint I think they have a few for Verizon when Verizon had the "pirates quest" app or w.e

All the theaters in CA have sprint commercials. On TV ive seen sensation ads everyday but only once for 3vo. Last movies I saw in the theater were in may so no 3vo commercials. September cant come quick enough HTC! Team win please please please get it done sooner

I've had the 3D since launch and I finally got a copy of this movie on my phone. Bricks were shat. Mind you I have several other 3D movies on my phone but watching this thing is unbelievable. Every 3D owner should have a copy of this on their phone. My girl, whos "meh" to every 3D pic or video I showed, dropped her jaw when I showed her. Took me a while to get a copy and even longer to find an english audio track to mux over it, and longer still to render to mp4 format but damn it was worth every second.

Its out there....you just have to type a few words to find it.
I just "found" Jackass 3D the other day, and it's pretty badass. I have Avatar 3D and The Final Destination 3D as well.
Plenty of info on here to help you find 3D vids. Avatar is somewhat of a different beast though because the file is so large.
I still need to convert mine.
I understand that people want these movies, but ffs read the rules. If you want it, either find it on your own or go buy the blu-ray and rip it to 3D yourself.
There are quite a few locked threads because they discuss where to find illegal copies of movies.

Maybe threads like this shouldn't be created then. You can't create a thread about how amazing avatar is in 3d and not expect a few people to ask how they can get it.

I own nine 3D movies. I've converted them over to phone. Used DVDFab and Handbrake. Avatar and Tron Legacy are the best looking so far.

You're absolutely right... and that's why I didn't make the thread.
I think the version I "found" was only about a gig and a half in size. It is most definitely the best 3D movie ive seen on the phone though.
Didnt mean to start anything. Just doing to say anyone enterprising enough to get it onto their device, it is well worth the trouble. Delete thread if necessary.
Tron was pretty cool. Nice 3D effect and very tastefully done. But nothin on Avatar.

Hey guys I guess I'm confused. I haven't bought no real 3d movies for my tv yet even tho I have a 3d tv but of course i have a few blu rays with the plastic red and blue glasses like jackass and final destination. I can convert those to my phone to use the 3D? And if so Luke the Jackass 3D would I convert the plain blu ray or the DVD disc which is the 3D option with plastic glasses

Agreed, Avatar looks amazing on this phone. Animated 3D films also look great. How to train your dragon and Cloudy with a chance of meatballs are the ones I have tried and love the outcome (and they encode to be much smaller).
Ok im away from the pc for a while so one of the folks I sent it to can share from here on out.
yeah, i pretty much thought 3d was bleh until i saw this. i never did catch it at the movies, now i wish i did. this was the best use of 3d i've ever seen.

is there a way to make your home screen/lock screen 3D? I've been playing around with it and seems like the only 3D feature on this phone is the camera and viewing 3D pics and videos... it would be really nice if I could make the whole phone 3D. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

while I agree this is a dumb noob question, I also kind of understand where the guy is coming from..
I saw a commercial the other day for the 3d for the first time, and they show the icons on the homescreen coming out of the screen as it says FIRST 3d phonneeee!
I don't want a 3d homescreen, but i still think that is a kind of deceptive commercial that leads to these kind of posts.
Yes cause the commercial doesn't mention only those, just has android tossing glasses on main screen with it in 3d still. I know it was only meant to be video pics & games, but I think the lock screen should at least have 3d as well, or able to put your 3d pics as your background pic.

On my old HD2 i was running the rom from Kingdom and there was a check to enable 3D homescreen under settings/display. When you activated it, you could tilt your phone and the screen would shift and seem to pop out. Even though the 3D part did not work on the HD2. Sadly, it was not on my EVO 3D when I got it, but maybe it is hidden or can be enable with root or cooked into a rom once the bootloader is unlocked.

Idk I could have sworn that in one of the tech demo's way before it came out, one of htc's reps had shown 3d interface and home screen. I specifically remember because I was stoked after they showed the weather app which I thought to my self would look awesome in 3d

while most wouldn't want it. i still think it would be a "wow that's cool" factor with a 3d lock screen for people that want to check out your phone kinda like how the 3d pictures and movies are. its not like we use the 3d part all the time but its cool to show people when they ask what its all about.
I heard spb shell has a 3d option for their homescreen. I just can't justify paying $15 for a launcher though.

Agree that it would only be a wow factor since 3d will eat up your battery and you aren't gonna use it much just like live wallpapers.

I know there's Many Different Apps to choose from, But by Downloading FireFox from the Market, Does that just Switch the Home page or the Actual Browser? Because I've been trying to load a page from my phone and its saying FireFox, Chrome, and Safari are Preferred... And Explorer Won't Work!

My wife is kinda mad... or confused... or just in "that time of month"... Im not really sure, but she says she cant see the 3D effect, and in the same time she cant look at the 3D effect for more than a second or two, because it hurts her eyes...?
Is there some people who is 3D "blind" for this effect that is on our phones?

Yep it's totally possible.

yes, I have met quite a lot of them. Usually Samsung and Iphone users.
When I was 12 I went swimming in a lake near where I grew up. I did so with my eyes open and ended up getting an infection. It scarred my cornea just over my pupil, so I don't see so well out of my left eye. That impediment to my binocular vision makes it far more difficult to see 3d effects. It also killed my depth perception for a while (until i got used to it) so it killed my budding baseball career. Imagine watching a 12 year old kid in the outfield, running up for a grounder, planting his feet, putting his glove on the ground, and the ball stopping 5 feet in front of him. Or better yet, running up for the grounder and it flies right past him. - LOL
Ya know what? My I never thought I had any problem with my vision. My eyes just strained a lot but I could see. Got checked out by a specialist the family knows, turns out my eyes are just a hair facing away from each other (why the strain). got glasses to correct it over time.
Before this, 3D hurt my eyes really bad. After glasses, 3D is as natural as looking across the room. interesting how just being slightly off can make such a big difference.

Yep, I can't see the 3D effect on the phone at all, but then I'm stereoblind as well.
I've taken a few 3D pics of a chair just to see how it works and when I show other people, they all say "Wow!! That's really cool!" I however see each sub-picture sort of overlapped and offset from each other. Where it jumps out in 3D to others, all I see is a ghosted mess of 8 chair legs.
It's actually more common than you might think. All it takes is a slight misalignment of the eyes and you can't see 3D... at least the way most of us do. So someone like Tommy from the most recent season of Hell's Kitchen: probably no need for him to get an Evo 3D.

I thought for a second y'all might be starting a 'club for the sightless' who were suckered into buying a 3D phone.
Anyway, I have terrible vision in BOTH eyes, so I wear contacts to correct, of course. However, if I lose a contact, or have to take one of them out for some reason, then bye-bye 3D effect, (and those "Magic Eye" pictures are absolutely impossible, even if I know what I'm looking for.)
Sounds possible, then, that someone who simply has a pronounced difference in vision quality between their two eyes "naturally" might have a problem 'seeing' the 3D effect?

I`ve meet two people that couldnt see the 3D effect (my wife - of course)
and some dude. Everybody else thinks the 3D is awesome (myself included! :-D )
But the weird part with my wife is that she cant see the 3D on my phone,
but there is no problem in the movies/theatre/big screen (with glasses), but yeah that is two different kind off 3D, but still... weird.
(and the samsung and iphone 3D blindness - LOL nice one! )
I have nystagmus (seach wikipedia since i cant post links) so i can't see 3d in more or less any form. I still got the evo 3d because it a good phone. It suck when people are like "you can't see that?!?!?!"
I read an article about the human eye and the 3D effect. It was mostly talking about the "headaches' people get from looking at 3D content. For the typical human, throughout the years, your eyes are trained to look at things exactly the way we see it. Shapes, angles different objects are embedded in are brains in 2D form. So now we get to looking at 3D content, which teaches are eyes to look at a picture (which are really two of the same images) and look at one image at a normal distance and the other image at a somewhat further distance, thus this being the reason we get that effect. Now none of use come out the wound looking at the world like this so when we are exposed to this type of effect normally it will cause headaches. The more 3D content you see, your eyes & brain recieves training on how to acknowledge this way of seeing certain things. That explains the reason you don't get headaches after a while, and how you can look at the 3D images without thinking about it. Oppose to seeing that sh!t, rubbing your eyes & popping a advil.
