I have a problem with my HTC EVO 3D. I've been using it for a year and everything was fine until yesterday. I was playing Real Racing 3 when my phone suddenly restarted and then turned off before I could enter my PIN code and didn't boot up. I thought that it might have overheated or it was some crash or something, I put the phone to charging and it easily turned on (I must mention, that there were about 70% battery left). I charged my phone and didin't use it whole afternoon. In the evening, I was trying to unlock my phone (with about 70% of battery) when suddenly the same happened again - the phone restarted and before entering PIN code turned off at all. After that I wasn't able to boot my phone.
I tried charging it with original HTC AC charger and also using my laptop and even a car charger, but nothing changes.
When the phone is not plugged in to charging, it doesn't show any signs of being alive. I tried pressing volume down/up/camera buttons + power on button, taking off the battery for about an hour, charging the phone for ~6 hours. Nothing works.
However, I realised that when I connect the phone to my laptop, there is a 'new device is connected' sound, but I am not able to access my memory card or do something else. Also, when the phone is charging, the red charging light is on, which after a few hours turns to green and after some more time disappears at all. When trying to turn on the device while it is charging the red light disappears as soon as the power button is released ant comes back after about 20 seconds.
Sorry for such long story and for my bad English. I am very disappointed. I still have a warranty, but I dont want to take the phone there, because the fixing lasts at least 2-3 weeks and also since I'm unable to boot my phone, there are a lot of my personal information in it, such as passwords,messages, bookmarks and so on, left.
So, is there anything I could do or should I take my phone to service?
P.S. The phone is not rooted and never was. Everything is original and up to date.

Perhaps try a new battery or take it in and have them try one. Sounds like a battery issue.

Thanks. I took it to service. I hope they'll repair it.
I finally got my HTC back a few days ago. They changed the motherboard and I had to buy a new battery since the old one was dead and warranty for it was only a year.
But I've faced several unexpected crashes during these few days. I think 3 or maybe 4 times when I took the phone after not using it for couple of hours and tried to unlock it, the phone didn't unlock and instead turned on. I really don't like this, because if my phone turns off whenever it wants, I may be unreachable
Does anyone knows what that means and what should I do if this keeps happening?

Yes, the soft has always been and is stock.
Then it must be a hardware issue. If your warranty has not expired, take it to the warranty service.

Well as I said I dont want to take it there because it takes about three weeks or more till I get back my phone.. It would be the third time in two months and it really annoys me.
Couldn't this be software issue? I mean I've been reading some similiar threads and I found out that some app might be killing the phone. So I did hard reset yesterday and after that installed only well known essential apps (Google services and some others) and after that the phone didin't crash for almost two days. Unfortunately, it did turned off a few minutes ago. I've installed only 8 Ball Pool and Smart Keyboard Pro recently, so I will try unninstalling them both and let's hope the phone won't crash again. Is there any ideas what else may I do in case it doesn't work?

Id recommend doing a factory reset on the phone and not installing any app for at least a week to confirm its not a hardware issue, but I strongly believe it is. If it fails youll have to take it to a sprint store and hope the clerk is in a good mood and give you a new phone the same day.
try a new battery
The battery is new, I had to buy it only a week ago, because the service stated that the old one was dead.
I rooted my phone with Cyanogenmod 11 (nightly) two weeks ago, it was fine, no issues. On monday morning phone was fully charged, but with very little to no use it was completely discharged in 7 hours. When I connected phone to a charger (original and working) it didn't want to turn on, it did NOTHING, black screen. When I borrowed battery from my brother's S2 wich was charged almost fully, it booted KitKat but it showed that the battery has to be recharged. I put it back to brother's phone but it showed only approx. 15% less than before, it was okay. I tried charging my phone with brother's battery, but it was incredibly overheating , not like when you play games, I was afraid it was going to blow up. It is overheating even when phone is turned off and charging or even when normally turned on, on battery. I tried enabling airplane mode, I even installed stock ROM with Odin, but it is still overheating. It is not overheating near the camera but on the left side of the screen, I don't know what that chip is there for. Stock ROM now gives me error after 2 min. saying "Charging paused, battery temperature too high." Now my battery is discharged and phone is unable to charge it, only black screen again. Could this be done by rooting it with Cyanogenmod ? it was the only ROM that I installed through the step-by-step process on their site and for couple of days it worked fine. Is this a hardware issue that would occur even if I wouldn't root my phone, also is it somehow fixable, or would I need to change motherboard completely ? PLS HELP !

Hey all,
so a few months ago my SGS2 went off. It was an interesting behave of it, it just started to turn off sometimes, without any reason, without any popups (eg. battery low) or anything. I was really curious about this problem but I didnt have a single idea of what happened to it. Like a week later, it didnt turn on at all. I disassembled it, and found out that my secondary microphones cable broke. I thought that was the problem, so I ordered a new module (which includes vibrating motor, secondary microphone, ear-piece, and the jack).. I waited 3weeks, the first one arrived broken. I waited another month, and today the second one arrived in one piece. I put it inside the device to see if it works but its not. NOW the problem is, like it was before I ordered this module, when I try to turn the phone on, it doesnt do anything at all.(with the broken secondary mic cable it did, it went till the samsung logo and then bam, blackout) IF I put it up on charger, it says the battery is FULL, and from then, I push the power button and it starts to turn on, but goes until the Samsung logo, or sometimes it did boot, but thats rare, and then again BAM, blackout. Now I was like wtf? So i tried to reach recovery, I did a full hard reset to the full stock SGS2 ROM, tried other kernels, recoveries, ROM's, but nothing helped me. NOW If i enter DOWNLOAD mode without the charger, it says "Low battery! Cant download." and this happens right after i plugged the charger out, and it told me that the battery is full (what a liar), but when i plug the charger in, I can reach DOWNLOAD mode, and Recovery mode too, but they do blackouts after a few minutes too...
Any ideas?

oh and if it matters, its GT-I9100, 2 years old.
if you can get your hands on a different battery, i would recommned you to test it with that too.
as your device is 2 years old and i am assuming you havent changed the battery yet, there are strong chances of battery life getting over.

well today i am about to test a new battery, i hope thats what the problem is... an extra thing, and yes im stupid because of this but i left my battery in the phone for the 2 months while it was off... a friend told me that it can cause the batterys death, is that possible?
If u want to leave your phone switched off then it's better to charge it and then remove the battery from the phone. So there is a possibility that your battery is Screwed because of that time when you kept it in the phone itself.

Hi I have two Samsung S3s and I flashed both of them with blisspop a few weeks ago. One I bought 14 months ago off giffgaff the other is about 2 years old off virgin mobile.
Both phones appear to run well when connected to the mains charger but when I take them off charge after approx 30 mins of use, the screen backlight begins to flicker and then the phone goes to the Samsung SIII spalsh and begins to bootloop until I connect the charger at which point the phone boots and begins optimising apps. When the phone comes back on it shows low battery usually 4% even if the battery was 75% when it shutdown.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas what the problem could be? I have searched this forun and Google but can't find the exact problem. When I first noticed it, I did think it could be the battery on its way out but as its both phones I don't think so and they both charged and discharged fine before I flashed them. I have also tryed cm11 and cm12 and the problem is exactly the same in all roms for me.

Maybe the battery connection is loose with the electrodes.
Hi everyone, I was trying to get the Fingerprint sensor going on my phone so I reset the software using Samsung Smart Switch, and now unless it's plugged into my phone charger, the phone gets stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy Alpha powered by Android" screen, like a bootloop. If I have it connected to a wall charger, it will boot and will run for a bit with it unplugged once booted, but doing anything slightly intensive like switching on mobile data or opening a game causes it to reboot when unplugged from power. What confuses me even more is that if I leave it in Recovery Mode it acts fine as if nothing had happened. I have installed a custom recovery, TWRP 2.8.1.1 and I tried installing LineageOS on it to see whether that would fix the issue (it didn't) so I have assumed it is a battery issue, but the bit that still confuses me is that if I'm in Recovery, the phone doesnt reboot and runs fine, the same with Download mode.
Any help would be grateful, the phone is imported and second-hand (the CSC is BTU but my CSC on other phones bought locally is usually TNZ or VNZ for Telecom NZ or Vodafone NZ) so I don't know what I can do about servicing, like whether it needs to go back to Samsung directly or what.

Try to drain the battery then charge it up to 100% again, if that didn't work, replace your battery. I had that exact problem occurred on my Asus Zenfone 2.
I have ordered a new battery off amazon, it took me a while to find one with decent reviews but I have a decent one coming

I have a galaxy alpha and the phone battery will get really hot and then show 'no sim card' and then it will shutdown and report 0% battery. I thought there was something wrong with the phone internals but if changing the battery fixes this then that would save me a lot of grief.
Like you I have to have the phone plugged in for it to work, i'm currently lugging around a huge battery pack everywhere!
Flash with stock rom. If problem persist. Change your battery.
I bought THIS battery off Amazon, and the one I received appeared to be a legitimate Samsung Battery. It holds a charge and lasts possibly even longer then the original Samsung battery did before it stopped working. If you have this issue, definitely consider buying a new battery. There is a decent one by Mbuynow which had decent reviews on Amazon but I didn't get that due to it not shipping to New Zealand.
