does it come with a carrier loaded ROM? If so i think you have to wait for them to release it, as they put their own bloatware on.
Ricey
If i get your question rt.. i got this as unlocked in amazon, no carrier linkage i guess.. is tat correct?....

if you go to this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278) excellent thread by intratech, you will see that UHKI2 is the latest firmware for your region. if you want 2.3.5. you will have to change the firmware to one of the european or hong kong firmwares (go through the thread, there might be more). you would need to do this using Odin, so "manual" update.
if you want 2.3.7 then you would have to slap CM7 onto your phone, but in that case you would have to do without any samsung software.
Oh.. ... i dint know it automatically changes to region specific ones.. earlier i had europian i guess....if i go for CM it would be a xomplete flash rt?... if yes then i would wait for ICS.... thank u all for the help....

Update via Kies?
Hi.. I'm very new to this and just got an unlocked Crazy Johns GS2: GT-I9100T, version 2.3.3, PDA DU-KH1, Phone DU-KF4, CSC VAU-KG2, 11 Aug '11. Is it possible to just change the CSC (backup, press *#272*IMEI#, select a region code, install), so Kies sees my phone as unbranded and for a region (eg. UK or Hong Kong?), where Samsung has officially released version 2.3.5, so I can update via Kies?

I would suggest you get your hands dirty now, because Samsung said ICS will get released on this phone next year January 2012, which is pretty long if you think about it, and you know you will keep checking back here and one day you will lose patience and install CM7 onto the phone.
Just install CM7 now onto the phone.
Yes it is a complete wipe ROM, just have ClockworkMod Recovery to Wipe Cache + Data + Dalvik, then install the CM7 ROM from the internal SD (by wiping Cache + Data + Dalvik, it does not delete anything on the 16GB internal partition). You do not flash using Odin, and everything is based on the phone after moving the ROM of CM7 from the computer to the phone.

hi
I have a Galaxy SII and wanted to know how i can update the firmware.
my current version is
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9100XXKDJ
I read that there is a new version available for GAlaxy S II which has some improvements for batteries.
I tried using Kies but no firmware upgrade is showing up
mine is an unbranded phone. I bought this in Germany if this might help
Thanks and looking for your support

No, it shouldn't. But I believe the update is for UK handsets only. Can't swear to it, but worth checking
Thank you will try odin. Since this is my fist android phone i didn't want to mess around much. But will try
Ok it shouldn't but you do have to make a factory reset in order to get the XEU CSC working and that will wipe your phone, won't it?
just bothering with that because without root there is no backup and kies is too stupid to have a simple button that says "backup"
Factory reset wipes your data, you for XEU CSC in above referred thread

Hi, I've just gotten my galaxy ace for 3 days. I updated my fone to gingerbread using S5830XXKPE and odin from samfirmware. It's been restarting/shutting down by itself after the update so I wanted to downgrade to froyo again but I tried downloading and flashing a lot of other versions but, no luck. It hangs and stays at the "Galaxy ace" part of the boot and doesn't open. But whenever I flash it back to S5830XXKPE, it opens and works but I think it is bugged and I really cannot downgrade to other firmwares. Is anyone else having the same problem??? Help please >_<
Update:
I've successfully flashed it with S5830XXKPB but still its GB 2.3.3, I still can't flash it with froyo 2.2.1 firmwares. help pretty pleaseeeee...
Download a multipackage 2.2.1 firmware, one that when you unzip it will have several files. You probably flashed a single package .tar that caused the brick.
A single package update contains only some files to be replaced over the original 2.2 firmware and is not the full rom so you'll have to flash a multi package then update to your desired single package.
XDA ♥
Thanks for replying. Actually I'm using odin multidownloader 4.38 and yes, I did use the multipack not a single .tar.
Here are the list of firmware I've downloaded and used to flash my phone but unsuccessful all attempts: (and some firmware I've deleted because of anger lol) )
S5830XXJLC
S5830XXKA7
S5830XWKB7
S5830XXKC1
and now these two are the ones that boot up when I flash on my phone: (both GB)
S5830XXKPE
S5830XXKPB
I did successfully downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.2.1 though. I believe the firmware from Samfirmware.com will have labelled "MULTI-CSC" or something like it.. I can't check now it's midnight here and sleeping time...
XDA ♥
okay, I'll try that too. Imma download 2.3.4 from samfirmwares then try downgrading to froyo. I'll tell ya how it goes. (crosses fingers) )
Successfully flashed to 2.3.4 but downgrading...no luck. What could be the problem...ohhhh maaaannnn!!! >_<

ODIN 4.38 can´t flashing? (mibip or startup?)
When you have problem with downgrade or upgrade firmware thrue ODIN and you are user WIN7 ---
- You can use to flash only one firmware!!!!
(it does not matter which, !!!! BUT you must going UP and DOWN,UP,DOWN like this(2.3.4 to 2.2.1 to 2.3.4 to 2.2.1)
----No like this (2.3.4 to 2.3.4 it doesn´t work) )
- You must after every re-flash--------reboot your PC !!!!!
- Your ODIN 4.38 stop at -- download mibib or something else? It´s my problem too
- After restart everything is O.K.and NOW ODIN doing everything to

How do i update the complete mobile software to 2.3.4 in INDIA? Not only the firmware, im talking about the complete mobile software update. Is there anything called as complete mobile software update?
Did anyone in INDIA tried with the "Software update" option that is in mobile?
Settings-about-software update-check for updates ??
When i try it in my mobile it says connecting to server and after a while it says connection failed and exits...
A Firmware update is a Full software update. India don't have the 2.3.4 released officially yet like many countries. If you want 2.3.4 now the only option is to download and flash an unofficial leaked ROM via Odin.
OTA updates don't work on Indian devices, so that error message is normal.
Regards.
Thanks for the reply, If we flash the unofficial firmware will that work well? I mean is there any difference between the firmwares that are released in India and in other countries? Can you please provide me the thread details which have the info to update to 2.3.4 and the steps to do it....Also is there anything new in 2.3.4?
I never used any leaked firmware and won't use one, so can't tell you any difference if there is any, but there are plenty of our members are using it and they haven't stated any proboem.
You can find all firmwares from here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Regards.
I guess these are just kernle updates, Have you checked the samfirmware.com which has the complete update for S2, it has PIT, PDA, PHONE, CSC files.
Any idea what these files are?
Got some idea after seeing the thread posted by you. But does the other country update files work on the phones that are purchased in INDIA?
Every firmware can be flashed on any device. Samfirmware and that thread I provided is same, only Samfirmware has fewer ROM's.
Kernel and Firmware are two different things.

I have downloaded the Kernel_GTI9100XXKH3 and updated to my mobile using the ODIN, but when i say *#1234#, it still shows the same old version
PDA: I9100XWF3
PHONE: I9100DDKE4
CSC: I9100DDKF3
And in settings-about
Kernel Version: [email protected] - 15 #2
so i guess only the kernel version is changed but the firmware is at same level

i.e the samsung interface , homescreen etc .??
Also , can u please tell me that when the brightness is maxed out ( 100%) , is the screen too bright .??
Like mine is okay at 100% but not too bright , so i was thinkin if there is an issue with my device .
Reply asap ....
Its very rasy to upgrade... Just follow the steps.. Odin 1.85 add the KH3 tar file to the pda link(not the rar file of 200 mb but around 500 it dhould be), put phone in download mode (vol down, home and then also hold power button, vol up to confirm) connect, make sure repartition is NOT checked in Odin, then Flash!

4.. Make a nandroid backup.
5.. Remove your external sdcard.
6.. Enter recovery. Data/factory reset. advanced, wipe dalvik cache
7.. Mounts & storage. format system. Format Data. Format sdcard.
8.. Turn off phone and remove battery.
9.. Re-insert battery and enter download mode.
10..Start Odin as administrator.
11..Connect phone to PC using original usb cable and wait for yellow confirmation box

hey pal since ur phone is carrier branded( UK Virgin) i think 2.3.5 is the latest by the virgin people hence try the same
ps- also u can check the link below for carrier branded official firmaware from intratec hope it might help u
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
i dont think it is carrier branded, i think i can use carphone warehouse and then manualy put network settings and thanks for the link but i cant work out which one is gingerbread 2.3.6 from that link, i will just have to keep reading but thankyou anyway
I though of downgrading back to gingerbread because of the battery and wifi issues but then I see some other small practical things and improvements that the ICS has and I like, and just stay with it!
i have tried ICS update and i just dont feel its ready, or should i say apps arnt ready for it yet, you mentioned battery drain, i would run down a compleate charge in about 4 hours the way i use my phone. hd game, mobile tv, web browsing ect, gingerbread last double that. lots of apps are rejected by ics older hd games, other apps are being updated to work with ics, heard juice defender helps ics a little, so i will wait for a while with gingerbread
I have stock ROM with 2.3.5 android version.
I just bought "multipoint speakerphone".
The two devices pair together, I can use voice commands on the phone through the bluetooth device, and can hear system sounds (click, etc..) throught it.
BUT, when making a call - I can't hear anythign and the other side can't hear me as well!
My syster also have SGS2 but with the new ICS version, and the device works perfect for her.
Any help?
Thanks
help?
Why don't you upgrade to ICS. It's straightforward and you won't lose anything. Install Kies on your PC then connect phone to PC with USB cable and let it check and install the update. Home screen may need re-configuring but all apps and data will still be there.

Because I had the company who sold me the phone repairing something about a year ago, they installed their stock ROM version and now KIES won't update my phone.
Anyway I check it with a different SGS2 with 2.3.5 and it did work..

1) As its wrk'ng fine with ICS on ur Sister's phone, u can also upgrade ur phone to ICS using 'ODIN" to flash the ICS firmware pertained to ur region by dwnl'dng the same from www.sammobile.com.

any guides to #2 ?
You can check in settings - about device. Compare the values there. If you go to www.sammobile.com and create an account you can download a more recent version of the Rom (including ICS) and install with Odin. Apps will not be lost.
