galaxy s2 32 gig after flash 16gig - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello every one
im flash the galaxy s2 32 gig and only now 16gig know(sorry for my bad english)
i flash it with any rom but only 16 gig known
i dont know why?
is the difrent between pit 16 gig with 32 gig?

Your 32gb microSD is only showing 16GB?
Or do you mean that your phone won't read your 32GB microSD and it is only showing internal storage?

Think he/she means it was the 32gig version before flashing now its showing up as 16gig? Maby soMething to do with the ROM?

This sounds so funny ^^
Lets get to the part where we fix it ;]
1. Maybe it is a 16gb and someone tricked you into thinking it was 32gb...
2. Put it into sd card reader and format it or use some software to format it or maybe there is a extra partition on your sd card.
I'm thinking number 1 is your problem though...

That's how I read it too, the phone has 32gig internal memory but after flashing, it only shows as being a 16gig.
Perhaps I got that wrong?

Where you been for the past few months lol, I read months ago that a 32gb version of the S2 would be released, not sure what countries it's available in though, it's not being released everywhere from what I read, unless samsung have changed their mind.

never use pit if you dont have to...im thinking it must be something to do with the rom you flashed buddy..hope you sort it out..and 32gig you lucky devil you

Ah, the pitfalls of flashing the wrong PIT.
You'll need to find someone who has a stock 32gig unit that can dump the PIT for you.
(Someone might be able to guess the layout, but that could brick your phone if they guess wrong.)

Dude if you use the PIT for the 16 GB version then it will setup the partitions like the 16 GB version giving you 16 GB of internal storage. You'll need to get the .PIT file for the 32 GB version and reflash with it.
Yet another person who didn't follow freely available advice on flashing and has seen a negative consequence of doing so.

If you are sure your I9100 is a 32GB one, use the GT-I9100_EXT4_32G.pit file to re-partition the internal memory of your phone.
Caution: Re-partition is a HIGH RISK operation. Make sure USB connection between your phone and PC is reliable. Otherwise it might brick your phone.

I was thinking Samsung had forget to sell the 32Gb version.
Your problem looks like strange ^^
Buy a 32 Gb SD card like me

I have the same problem , today I formatted my internal memory using setting option , and it become 16 GB only
It was 32 GB 100%
android 4.1.2
I am going to flash the first firmware 2.3.3

Hey, I've attached the 32gb pit file from the first official JB ROM (LSJ).

incase the phone still shows 11gb internal memory after flash, go to settings>memory>format usb memory. The device will unmount the usb memory and voila, 26gb on remount! THANK YOU to all above posts and other threads, sites help solve this dreadful issue!

That pit doesn't work (at least with CM 12.1).
Can someone post one that will, preferably one with bigger app storage space.

Format HOW? If you used WINDOWS format, do it again and dont tick use FAT, make it FAT32 or NTFS, that MIGHT solve it. Otherwise you'll have to go into Linux and do it.
If you flashed a bad firmware, sucks to be you, there are hints of fixes around the forums, do some searching.

I have just solved it. I flashed with wrong PIT. So try to flash by ODIN with right PIT file.

[Q] Lost disk space...

Hi all,
I made a mistake and checked the option RE-PARTITION during an firmware upgrade...
Now I've got 11.34Go of total space instead of ~15Go.....:crying:
How can I get the the normal size ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Johann
Post in right section next time?
Anyway I've not got my device yet but I guess you need to reflash .PIT?
now that you made me think about it, I have the same issue! 11.35Gb total internal space!
I've never noticed beacause the same day I bought my S3 H3G I've flashed the ITV rom..
So I think I checked that stupid flag too... but I am pretty sure to have double-checked everything before flash, I'm absolutely not new to Flash and Odin...
Anyone has got a solution?
Maybe a new partition table file (PIT) to flash along with a new rom, could do the magic?
Mines always been 11.35gb. I think that the phone uses some of the sd card space for system files.
Please don't flame me if I'm wrong, just that I've never seen 15~gb free space.

WHAT ? Do you guys realize that 16 GB version have 11.25 GB usable ? Do you never had a pendrive or a sdcard ? But I can say that you are lucky you don't bricked your phone having re-partition enabled.
my sd size has always been 11.25gb. never "accidentally" ticked re-partition so must be normal. could other users confirm? btw where can we get the correct .pit from as iv seen a few versions.
You have not lost anything. The internal sd is used by system also with many partitions. So no worries. Just do not tick repartition ahaon unless it is specified by the firmware you are glashing todo so.

haha, very funny big-brain guy, but my 16GB SD card has 14.91GB formatted, so 11GB avaiable on the 16GB internal memory it's an evidence that something goes wrong, or the memory has other not-so-small partitions, or the memory itself is damaged.
Just wanted to ask, you know, this is a forum
Well, Android itself is like 1.2 GB, and 1 or 2 gb are for apps. ROM.
My S3 is 32 gig, 25 usable.

And I just wanted to answer, big-brain guy. There is memory reserved space + android system which I havent included in the first comment. As I said, you were lucky you didn't bricked the phone re-partitioning the memory. Take care next time

[Q] i9100 repartition benefits ?

Hi,
I read the stock JB update was supposed to repartition the phone and take 1 GB from the Internal SD.
I never installed stock JB, only custom ROMs so I'm not sure if my phone has been repartioned yet and/or if it should be.
I'm wondering what are the standard partitions list and sizes on a 16GB S2 (so I can compare) and would there be any benefit to resize them ?
Thanks
The stock JB update doesn't repartition ur memory, nor does it use up 1GB.
As for partitions, did u mean this thread:

Hi,
this is what I saw:
Samsung Korea posted Jelly Bean upgrade details about the Samsung Galaxy SII. The Jelly Bean update by Samsung will reduce internal memory from 12GB to 11GB and the reduced 1GB memory part will be used for system partition, as it will also re-partition the memory system, so this upgrade will take at least 1 hour. This upgrade will only be available through Samsung KIES.
for instance from http://www.sammobile.com/2013/01/05/samsung-korea-posts-galaxy-s-ii-jelly-bean-update-details/
can you tell me what size do you see in your Settings, Storage ?
for application and SD Card.
Thanks
for example:
Device memory: 1.97 Gb
USB storage: 11.50 Gb
SD card: 7.46 Gb
so what's the problem?

Yes I also read this thing somewhere. .and I was also wondering the same thing. ..I did not update to 4.1 via kies I used odin and flashed stock firmware. I did not see any change in my internal sd.

megosu.....you're looking at this wrong.
Korean version, m250, has got a different internal memory repartition therefore you need to repartition that model if you want an I9100 instead of m250.
That sammobile link talks about the korean model, which needs repartition in order to jb to work.
I9100 has got nothing to do with m250 update.

YP G70 microSD media scanning don't work

Hi, I recently reverted from KK rom to stock 2.3.3. There is a strange problem only with files on microSD. I copy files on it but at first reboot the media scanning tells me card problem (broken?). If I don't restart the files are generally played!!! I try different sd and different method of format. Any suggestion???

If you've not done a /data wipe after downgrading, that can be an issue. Else, copy the files of your sd to your PC and then format it on your galaxy player.

The problem is that I sell the player, I always used a Sandisk 32GB with no problem. Now the buyer tell me that there is this problem with a Samsung! Thank you, I'll suggest a sd exchange... maybe a speed class compability....
I have the same problem with my sandisk 32 GB card and found out that it was the problem.
Update SanDisk will replace the card so as long as you have it. I wrote a review on it. Just let it update though.

Nope, I have to buy new one. I have been using my card for 2 years. The card performance have been degraded due to extensive read and write, after reading your sugestion I tested the card using software called "AOMEI partition manager" and the result are degraded performance due to extensive read and write.
For information to other people with same problem; I use "persyst.sys.vold.switchexternal" mod/workarround to swap galaxy player limited storage with my 64 Gb card. This mod make the card work very very hard and degrade card performance.
Hope this information will help other people with same problem.

Hi!
The S2 has on stock internal storage 1,97 GB and a sd0 Card of about 11 GB. This is a build-in storage and not a physical Card like the removable sd1 Card which has a Slot.
I do not know what you exactly did but i think you are still on stock Partition. If the Phone does not work i think you should flash original Firmware with stock Partition.
