Bluetooth audio quality - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I went from an iPhone 4 to the sgs 2. It seems to be giving me some audio distortion and static that wasn't there with my iPhone. Its most noticeable on the high end and with lower (128kbps) audio files. Any one else experiencing this or have suggestions on how to tweak things to make it better?
Only happens on Bluetooth a far as I can tell.

I found I needed to get a balance of the volume controls. I use a stereo bt headset, Motorola s305. It sounded best at about 2/3 volume on the phone, and crank up the headset. Also check out the eq settings if you are using the stock music player. I don't listen to much music, but listen to tons of audiobooks. When I do listen to music its usually Pandora, on the high quality setting, and it sounds great.

Hmm. I'll try the volume thing. Thanks.
Is there any way to 'lock' that volume max, so i don't accidentally switch that up?

I know there are apps on the market to increase volume levels, but I don't know of any to limit volume levels.

This is due to a low bitpool setting. There is no way to change this unless you flash CM7 or any AOSP ROM, which comes stock with a higher bitpool, thus better sounding bluetooth audio.

just curious how this would affect BT earpieces but not car BT systems? I used my car's BT to make calls a lot and never had any audio issues.

I'm not opposed to flashing... Which would you suggest, CM7 or AOSP?

The background noise of vibrant

Hello, did anyone find that the background noise of vibrant is very clear, when using headsets.
If you want to have a test, I think you can do as fellow.
1. Find a quiet environment, plug in your headsets
2. Open music player, turn the volume to 0
3. Play a song, you'll hear the background noise immediately
4. If stop the song, the background noise hold on for several seconds, then disappear.
What's the cause of this? Driver or hardware design? or just software.
So did anyone have some idear for solving this problem?
I have no background noise, try different head phones, maybe they are the problem.
I've heard it with iems in silence, same as what you described.

I use te headset comes from tmobile, factory headset.
Which headset are you using? and also rom and kernel.
I tested in several kernels and roms, all have this question.
It's what you get for listening to crappy MP3's use something better than MP3 preferably lossless

no, noise does not come from mp3. I use musicplayer just to take a example.
the noise comes when the dsp has outputs, and disappears when the dsp has no outputs
I am pretty sure you are hearing hardware static noise from the audio circuit. The sound quality of the headphone amp in the galaxy phones is better than most HTC phones, but sadly still falls short compared to an iPhone and many dedicated mp3 players. The static is even more evident with higher sensitivity headphones like the ultimate ears tripple-fis and the like.

Yeah I hear this also...if you don't hear it you're probably using cheap headphones.

Headphone Volume goes from Loud to Louder...

I'm on MIUI, and just recently started using my phone has a music player with my headphones. The minimum volume on the phone is pretty damn loud, and most of the time I can't listen to it that loud. When I put the volume up it gets louder. I've tired just about every DSPManager setting I could find, nothing gets the volume any lower.
Is this just an issue with non-stock based roms? I know that the max volume issue is a non-stock issue (where the volume gets maxed at about 50% of the volume indicator).
It is a known issue for miui (I believe all miui) or cwm. I mpved out of miui because of that although I love it otherwise. Galnet miui also has the same issue.

Try out poweramp and its preamp gain setting on its built in equalizer.

I just downloaded "equalizer" whats difference between poweramp?
I'm definitely looking for "better sound quality" and "loud + clear"
because I was experiencing volume Loss (auto dimm, yet volume still at max?) during calls (or just low volume), sometimes audio just seems Low during music playback vs my friends phone?? why a difference.

Your problem is different than the OP's and would normally deserve another thread...
Anyways, poweramp is just for music playback, and if you don't know how to use an equalizer properly, I would recommend not touching it or you would make it sound more like crap. The difference is how much power the audio jack can put out and the impedance of your headphones, and that determines how loud it sounds on your end. All phones are not the same, however, you should search for the in call audio fix thread for a solution to your problem.

[Q] Bluetooth distortion on calls/voice but not A2DP Music

I paired up my Note with my new Belkin A2Dp Car kit and found that I am not able to control the bluetooth volume for the phone/voice profile.
Voice input sounds distorted as does any voice going out to the speakers. In calls the person I am calling sounds distorted and they say I do also. Obviously voice commands are useless as the phoe cannot identify what I am saying properly due to the distortion.
It's as if the mic-boost is blasted all the way up for the voice call bluetooth profile, is this the same issue of Samsung's crap BT stack that they never seem to fix?
I tried using an App called A2DP volume to force volume settings on connect but they have no effect on the BT in call volume, even the volume rocker on the phone does nothing during a call.
I dont see any volume or mic controls on my bluetooth device as it is a car-kit.
The music audio quality over A2DP is excellent and not distorted at all.
Joel
Anyone? Surely other people are using BT headsets and car kits with their note?

Yep the A2DP profile is clear and sounds great, as I said in my post, but the phone call profile is distorted and blown out, adjusting the volume on the phone seems to have no effect on this profile.
To clarify...no issues on mine. .phone calls included

I had a similar problem with a Kenwood player once. I had to update the player from the Kenwood site to fix it.
I think it's a bit outdated, but did you manage to fix it?
I have this belkin device and the same volume call issue (can't use it for calling). Tried with the phones in my signature and with an iphone 4s and get this issue with both. Only with an iphone 3g I could control volume successfully. Maybe it's only compatible with apple devices. iphone 4 doesn't work because ios5 disabled bluetooth call volume control.
It's too disappointing..
Bluetooth Distortion
Hi there. I upgraded my SGS i9000 to Jellybean JRO03L recently - latest build is excellent. However, Bluetooth call quality is distorted as per Griffindodd but ADP2, although relative quiet is very good.
Can't figure out what options I have.
Have the same issue in terms of controlling car music volume on the dashboard, but haven't noticed call quality, just got the a2dp application and will let everyone know how it works
Update: didn't work, still can't adjust volume via dash
Sent from the Jelly Way Galaxy
still nobody has any solution for this?
Sent from the Jelly Way Galaxy
figured out a work around for myself, so I found that when playing through Apollo I could control the volume on dash but not while playing Pandora and others, so what ended up working is loading both, pausing Pandora, playing Apollo to get volume control, then holding down the back button to kill Apollo(make sure this is enabled in developer options in phone settings), then Pandora should start playing again all by itself and still have volume control.

Very soft volume for Navigon/CoPilot GPS

Hi all,
I am having problem with Navigon/CoPilot GPS software where the voice volume is very soft. Especially if I am using the phone to play the music as well. It seems like both of this GPS uses the System volume which I've maxed out but it just seems too soft when compare to the media volume.
Sygic seems to work fine as it uses the media volume instead of the System volume. Just that I seems to prefer the routing provided by Navigon.
I've tried using Siyah kernel but it seems even worst due to the fact that Siyah allows you the amplify the media sound which makes the voice from the GPS almost inaudible. Is there anyone else that uses either Navigon or CoPilot that knows anyway or workaround to fix this?
One way I know is to lower the media volume and just turn up the car radio when using Aux input so that both the system volume and media volume are the same but the issue is that sometimes I forget about that and just turn back on to radio without lowering down the volume. Trust me, the sudden increase in volume is not really good for the heart and not to mention the ear.
Hope someone is able to provide me with a better workaround!
Thanks!

I use Siyah here and STweaks to amplify the Speaker volume.
The default value is 57, try to use 59 or 60 it can get pretty damn loud.

Hi,
Thanks for that. But I am using it plugin to my car radio (aux in). This is so that I can listen to the music on my phone at the same time while the GPS is running. WIth the speaker volume, does that works if the output is not on the phone speaker itself?

Speaker volume = Phone's speaker..
In your case, you need to increase the headset volume, also available in STweaks with the same values (57 default).

Navigation volume increase?

Does anybody else's navigation volume seem very low? Like obviously too quiet? I was at full volume and could not hear it very well over road noise. Any way to increase volume?
Update: just tried playing some spotify songs over speaker and it also seems quite low for full volume. Is there a way to test speaker output to make sure they are working how they should?

I have tried a few things. I noticed slacker Pandora and iheart radio were all loud while no matter what I couldn't get the navigation voice to ever increase to the same level as them. When I disabled beats I noticed they were closer in volume level. But still not effective. Voice should be higher. Maybe if someone can verify wether or not the navigation uses beats our not would be a start.

Interesting; I'll try turning off beats and see if that helps.
