[Q] Damaged Micro USB - How to flash stock firmware via recovery? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello forum members,
The micro USB port on my Galaxy S2 seems to be damaged. The computer doesn't detect the internal storage on it and I also don't even get the "Usb Connected" anymore in the drop down menu of Android 2.3.4 KH3. I am able to charge the phone though.
I am currently running Litening ROM KH3 and i need to install a stock ROM before i can give this phone to the service centre for repair/replacement of female micro usb port as this is still under the warranty.
Is there any way for me to flash stock firmware via recovery. I suppose i would need a zip file for that. Isn't there a way to convert those stock firmwares into ZIP format?
PLEASE HELP!!

You can try with Virtual Data Cable in the Market

Thanks but this won't work when the phone goes into download mode.
Anyone please. I would really appreciate the help here!!

Maybe it's the USB connector? I had the same problem as you where it could only charge and trying to access storage would freeze explorer

The problem is that neither my laptop detects the USB connection (it starts charging the device though) nor my phone's drop down menu shows the "USB Connected" notification .. So i guess the USB Connector is damaged ..
Any help guys? Please?

try adb wireless (widget edition)
you can connect via adb with the command: adb connect YOURPHONEIP:5555
and then push the zip to flash on the sdcard via the command: adb push ZIPFILE /sdcard/
after that, if you have already CWM type: adb boot recovery
and flash the FW via CWM

Thanks mate.. ill try this solution over the weekend. I hope it works.

Did you get this right?
My USB port just melted, and I am rooted and on Darky ROM. I'l like to send it back for warranty. HOWEVER< it seems like a hardware fault, so I thought the root/non-root wouldn't make any difference?

Just enable USB debugging and type in 'adb devices' from command prompt. (For adb to work you need Android SDK)
If it reports as some device as detected, things can be worked out.

If you can connect the tab via adb to you computer you can copy a new rom from your computer to your tabwith the adb push command (just google it if you dont know it)and then flash this rom in cwm ;-)
Does Odin work? If yes just flash a full stock rom!
Thanks.it works!

[Q] No Rom, only CWM and ODIN help needed

Hello people,
Me and my friend kinda did something not really smart, I think it will be helpful to tell you the whole story.
We were planning on flashing a SGS2 which was already rooted to 4.0.3, however we did not have the CWM which had the install from sdcard option so we put the CWM 4 through ODIN, all good till now, however we forgotted that we did a format through the phone menu which as you probably already know wiped out our rom which was on the sdcard. At that time we had forgotten this small detail so we courageously pressed WIPE OUT EVERYTHING...
Our current situation - we have access to CWM and ODIN, however we do not know how to put a rom inside the sdcard, we tried through:
flashing a firmware rom through odin - flash completed, phone freezes on samsung logo - bootloop? (tried 2 firmwares actually)
adb push - problem - in recovery it does not find the phone, it finds the phone when in bootloop however we do not have access (read only) so the push fails
Any ideas how to fix this stupidity of ours would be greatly appreciated...
Regards!
hum.....how about more of that flashing via Odin?
Are you trying stock roms?
This could be useful.
Simple!
Either.....
1. Remove SD Card and plug it into a reader or adapter then copy the rom zip you want to flash.
2. Plug phone into PC via USB then boot into CWM and mount USB via Mounts and Storage and copy zip across.
Or if you want to flash a stock rom simply flash it via download mode with odin.
Thanks for the help everyone!
We managed to do it through push... seems like the USB cable also had some issues and thats the reason we couldnt do it before.
We did also try through the card reader but the phone did not want to recognize the existence of the card in CWM nor it wanted to mount the USB - I have no idea why...
I am glad it's over after a 5 hour struggle
Regards!

HELP PLEASE-issue connecting to usb port- usb port does work

Phone:
Tmobile T959 aka Samsung Vibrant
It is on stock Froyo 2.2
It has the 3E recovery.
I tried on 2 computers but I can NOT connect via USB it gives me USB malfunction error. The phone does charge. I can put it into download mode vie the 3 finger trick. When you connect it does give you the option to click the green Android icon Connect to USB. So it is talking to the computer, the usb is not totally dead.
Problem:
I need to root this phone. I can not use 1 click or anything else because I think there is a problem with the USB port. I can get files onto the phone via wifi or using the external sd card.
I tried using the update.zip file BUT because I am on the 3E recovery it will say signature failed. I can not run the install.bat to get it back to 2E recovery. I can not use ODIN because the Windows will not detect the phone properly.
What workaround can I use to root this phone? How would I use terminal on the phone?
HOW WOULD YOU ROOT THE PHONE IF YOUR USB PORT WAS "broken"?
THANKS for helping!

anyone ?
Does anyone have the signed 3e or 2e update.zip file that I can load from the sdcard?
thx
Could be a faulty usb flex. You can't be thinking of rooting & flashing with that USB. Too risky.
Tried with another USB cable? Another USB socket? Another PC?
If you tried to all the above and still don't flies, you should be thinking usb flex swap.

Could any one help me with this regard?

Why don't you flash stock ICS firmware in flashmode(via flashtool)??
Have you tried flashing stock rom with flashtool?
You can also try (re)mounting sdcard in cwm recovery or with adb.
In cwm it's located in mounts and storage --> mount sdcard.
When you connect your phone to pc, do you see that "usb debugging enabled" notification?
If not you have to enable it from developer options. And when you try to do something with adb, does it give any error message, such as "device offline", "device not found" or "waiting for device"?

your problem is that ur drivers are crashed because of some weird reason..
Download usb deview at http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html#DownloadLinks
unplug your phone..
now unzip the app and run it..
in the vendor id tab search for drivers having id as - "0fce"
Select ALL of them and uninstall them by right click --> uninstall selected.
remove sony pc companion.
restart your pc..
download latest adb and fastboot drivers here : http://rubenalamina.mx/download/525/
simply run the installer..
default install directory is C:\ADB
now turn off usb debugging and then connect your phone.
let it install mtp drivers.
now download flashtool https://unrestrict.li/flashtool
install the flashtool.
(optional but still recommended) disable antivirus and firewall of pc
go to install directory of flashtool and locate folder "drivers"
open it and run the installer.. you will see a window asking which driver to install check the following items:
-xperia p, u, sola, go, drivers,
-fastboot
-flashtool
when its done unplug turn on usb debugging and go to installed directory of adb, press and hold shift key and then right click anywhere in that folder..
select open command prompt and pass this command:
adb devices
you should see at least one device connected.
if yes you are succeeded and fastboot will work too.

bro i cant find those sony adb in device manager im using windows 7. i have installed everything but in uninstall and remove tab i cant see sony adb
This may sound silly but two things,
have you tried a different usb port
and is the sdcard mounted in cwm.
I have to make sure the sdcard is mounted before i can connect mine.
Do a hard reset hold power and up till the phone vibrates 3 times then try to connect to flashtool by holding power and volume down.
