Official 3.0.4 77 Being pushed OTA - TouchPad General

HP is officially pushing 3.0.4 77 OTA. Downloading now (53 MB)...

Installing now. Up to install reboot. I'll be curious to see how many of my tweaks are removed.
Done: So far, even without any overclocking, it's tons faster (snappier maybe if a better word.) The camera apps is nice (snapshots or video.)
Still looking for other improvements.

Does someone know if the HDMI feature discussed here has been added?

UPDATE :
Official Changelog from HP :
webOS 3.0.4
HP webOS 3.0.4 makes TouchPad snappier, includes a new camera app, makes it easier to find great TouchPad apps in the App Catalog, and a number of other improvements.
Core applications
Camera
* New front-facing photo and video camera app. Browser
* Larger tap targets for easier tapping.
* Increased support for Flash & Flash plug-ins, including recognizing accelerometer events.
App Catalog
* Added ability to view only TouchPad, Phone, or All applications in App Catalog.
* Launching and viewing App Catalog contents are quicker.
* Improvements of the user interface include app icon appearance, responsive tap targets, and formatting of the app description.
Music
* You can add songs to a playlist from Album view.
* OGG Vorbis and FLAC media files are supported.
Messaging
* Setting status (online/offline) per account is now supported. For example, you can be offline on your work account and online on your personal account.
* You can set your status to invisible on Yahoo! Messenger.
Phone
* You can now pair a phone that is not a webOS phone to the TouchPad, so you can answer calls on the TouchPad.
NOTE: Most devices cannot send or receive SMS (text messages) from the TouchPad. The SMS Mirroring functionality needed to send and receive SMS from the TouchPad requires the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) to be supported by the phone.
Email
* Performance of the Microsoft Exchange Global Address List (GAL) when composing a new email or using Just Type has been improved.
* Added support for the Microsoft Exchange Autodiscover service to assist in setting up Microsoft Exchange accounts without having to enter server configuration information.
Additional bug fixes in Maps, Contacts, Calendar, and App Catalog.
webOS System
Keyboard
* Bluetooth keyboard pairing with generic keyboards has been simplified and now includes an automatically generated pairing code and instructions on how to pair.
* System load balancing: webOS maintains a higher level of overall usability when the system is downloading a large amount of data (for example, during a restore) or is installing apps.
Security
This release addresses a number of security issues with HP webOS software.
Individuals interested in contacting HP to report suspected security issues can find more information at hpwebos.com/security.

Changelog from Ari Jaaksi :
3.0.4 RC2
webOS Platform
* Inline rendering of HTML 5 video is now supported.
* Fixed issue in which a JavaScript timer in one card would be suspended when another card was maximized.
* Improved SDL performance in rotated screen mode.
* Fixed several bugs affecting third-party Synergy applications.
* Enyo Framework
* Fixed problem with DatePicker controls’ returning incorrect date.
* When filling out a form, if the user tabs to a form element behind the keyboard, the scene now scrolls to keep the focused field visible above the keyboard.
* Corrected positioning of selection box displayed in response to a tap and hold on a word.
* RowGroup.destroyControls() is now working properly.
* Fixed issue in which an HtmlContent control inside a Scroller would not prevent links from being followed while scrolling.
* Enyo Applications
Browser
* The Browser app now hides the keyboard when the Bookmark pane is shown.
* Fixed an issue in which touch events were not passed correctly to Web sites.
Contacts
* Contacts synced via a third-party Synergy app can now be deleted after the app itself is deleted.
Location Services
* Google Location Services now work for locations in the Southern Hemisphere.
Tools and Installers
* The PalmSDK folder has been reorganized to make docs and samples easier to find.
* palm-emulator no longer displays an error dialog when launching with VirtualBox 4.1.2.
* palm-generate now generates Enyo apps (Mac and Linux only in this build). Note that in generated Enyo apps, the (full) path to enyo.js will need to be specified in index.html in order for the app to load in a desktop browser. For example, on the Mac, this would be “/opt/PalmSDK/Current/share/framework/enyo/1.0/framework/enyo.js”.
Code Samples
The following new code samples have been added:
* Accelerometer – Demonstrates getting accelerometer, shaking, and orientation events.
* InputSample – Integrated the existing multitouch sample.
* Media – Added new Video Object demo, which demonstrates use of an HTML5 video object to play video inline with custom controls and sizing control.
* MediaCapture – Demonstrates the new media capture APIs for sound, video, and images.
* Services – Added Media Indexer sample.
* WebView – Added example of intercepting link clicks and redirecting.
* ZeroConf – Demonstrates the ZeroConf system service. ZeroConf is a discovery protocol that lets you find services on the local network without having to have a directory or DNS listing.
ExhibitionMode
* Fixed bug in which the app, after being launched in Exhibition Mode, could not be relaunched in app mode.
JustType
* Fixed db8 schema version issue.
* Known Issues and Limitations
* SDL apps may hang due to problems with polling new sensors.
* SDL apps may crash when blitting to or from a NULL surface. The underlying issue has been identified and will be fixed in the next SDK release.

Someone in RootzWiki reported that installing 3.0.4 will break moboot and therefore you wont be able to boot CM7, CWM etc

Confirmed, but after copying Moboot_0.3.3.zip in a "cminstall" folder at the root of the TP, you just have to reinstall Moboot with the ACMEinstaller to boot again CM7.

Would I be able to reinstall the 1.7GHz overclock if I update to 3.0.4? As snappy as it may be I doubt it is a full replacement for having 1.7GHz of power

okay, just a quick update, everything still works fine except private browsing for some reason, but other then that, i'm just waiting to over clock this bad boy again, *sigh* this is the best $150 i ever spent

You should watch the video posted a while ago. 1.7 over lock and 3.0.4 performed the same side by side.
I don't have a link sorry.
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

Yeah, it appears the patches are all gone but none were critical for me. The overclocking will be nice if it improves anything but I have suspected they underclocked it due to some timing issues. I would see random instances where it would sort of freeze up with the OC. I want to play with it without Uberkenral for a bit.
As for CM7, I am holding off until the first release candidate comes out. I don't gain much going to CM7 until it's more stable and I frankly prefer WebOs to Android. I can run my Android stuff on my NC for now while they get the power, wifi and SD card stuff sorted out. It's still certainly a great alpha release.

NICE! Don't care about CM7 really, I would actually rather delete it at this point until it's stable.. the kernels thing kinda bugs me though.
Anyone get the new kernels working yet?

Hi mate,
Part of what the last upgrade was is to get things ready for full multi-device support. Sadly, part of that is to disable devices that are not proven to be 100% compatible.
I'm slowly going through and adding extra devices such as the Titan, Opel etc... At the moment, I just ask you to be patient until I can complete this task.
The current supported devices include Hermes & Kaiser with more coming soon.
Looks great. Will give it a try and feedback!
great tool. It should ask where to install, disk or device. Other than that issue it is great.
Very Usefull utility. Thanks.
in my opinion this app name 'CRC AppStore'
This is great !!
thanks!
i'm waiting for i780 support
device update is looking good on my hermes but I lost support for the titan :-(.... any chance of adding titan back to supported devices...
list of stuff that doesn't work with titan
button 5 fix
camera support
comm vibe
flashlight
htc connection wizard
htc Home - works but setup for keyboard on hermes so the screen is upside down when you open the keyboard.

Just one minor issue, only one occurence, not reproducible: Somehow the connection to your server must have gotten interrupted when I selected to download and install a program. The error was not caught by your program, but instead after about 60 seconds freeze, the .Net Framework (I assume?) threw an unknown error("no error messages installed...").
Is it just one program that does it, or a few different ones?

I guess it is not related to just one program. It happend, after chosing Shap's Advanced Config.
My bug report just related to the fact, that the error was not brought up by the program itself. Turning Wifi off and on made everything work again and the app installed on second try.
(My Hermes does not stay reliably connected to the internet, this is not an "Device Update" issue. WiFi stys connected, but DNS or TCP packets will get lost. This instability of internet connectivity has lead to the error reported)

Titan support wasn't intentional before - now it will be It also means that when CABs are submitted, the developers can choose which devices to install on. This gives us the ability to have QVGA, VGA and other resolution apps - as well as app specific stuff.
While the narrowed device support seems like a step backwards at the moment, it is actually a huge step forwards - as the only actions now required is backend support for these devices.
And, seeing as you provided a lot of into that I needed, I'll add Titan support in the next hour or so.
Edit: Oh, and are there any other OEM codes for the Titan than TITA100?
Edit 2: And any reason why htc connection wizard doesn't work on the titans?
I've added support for Titans & Polaris devices today.
If people with these devices could test it out and post any applications that don't work on your device, I'll go through and update things.
thought of combining forces with gecko?
or maybe jak portal?
I am pretty sure there are even one or two more of these types of apps that have popped up recently, but can't remember the app or dev names just now.
If ALL of you guys could really combine forces I'm sure we would have an absolutely AMAZING app manager application!

Yes and no. Device Update came along quite some time ago, but was only developed on the Hermes... v1 of Device Update came out around 5 months ago from memory - maybe longer.
While the apps above sound ok, I have serious concerns about the technical side of how they run things - which is why for the moment I have just improved Device Update. At the moment, the current v2 infrastructure serves up around 400 cabs per hour. Since the v2 release on the 7th of this month, I've already served up nearly 6,500 cabs! This load seems to be unsustainable with some other project similar to Device Update.

Yeah - there's been a few and I got more and more frustrated at some of the major shortcomings in the newer projects - hence why I sad down for about a month and re-wrote Device Update into what it is now. The good part is that it's a VERY stable and VERY scalable infrastructure now and will work with all Windows Mobile devices once I get around to working out compatibility issues with applications.
This will take a little while as I take the safer approach as to make sure an application won't kill a device. After this is done, I can look at the options for a better UI.
This being said, when re-writing Device Update, I went through over 30 different designs for the UI, and I couldn't find a way to present all the information required in a good way. After the backend settles down, I'll focus a bit more on making things user friendly.

[Dec 27] Ubuntu for HTC HD2 - v0.3 released

Ubuntu for the HTC HD2 version 0.3
This is the new v0.3 release of Ubuntu for the HTC HD2 I announced a while ago on twitter.
Ubuntu is a full Linux distribution - and it's not designed for smartphones. But with the large touchscreen, high display resolution and fast system speed of the HTC HD2 I decided to make Ubuntu easily available to HD2 end users!
This is not a secret warez ROM proprietary junk. Source code information below ! Wiki use for contribution purposes is highly encouraged! You can find all information needed to reconstruct my builds there.
The interest seems large enough so you can expect an improved version 0.4 :
-The no-menu problem will be solved
-It will be bootable via cotulla's MAGLDR and HaRET (Handhelds Revers Engineering Tool)
beta closed!! please do not in quire any longer.
=> I am looking for people to test a 0.4 beta version soon as I'm done. If you are interested please direct message or @ me via twitter @htc_linux as I will send the beta download link there.
Features
* You can get online using 3G and WiFi
* Attach all kinds of USB devices like mice, keyboards, flash drives, card readers, networking devbices, etc. to turn your HD2 into a full PC
* Use full desktop like web browser without the usual limitations found in smartphone browsers
* Use instant messaging
* Watch videos
* Handle text messages and make calls (without sound so far)
* Install thousands of programs for your internet experience, office needs, social networking fun, etc.
* Be cooler because you have something special on your phone!
It is difficult to create a release like this as opposed to all the Android builds for the HD2.
Technical background to this:
The Linux kernel we ported to the HD2 is originally designed for use with Android user space (because we based our work on the Linux kernels of official Android devices) and Ubuntu is originally designed for large laptop or desktop computers.
This means many workarounds on kernel and user space level must be made in order to make this usable.
Despite lots of work not all problems could be tackled yet: Audio and suspend/resume do not work as of v0.3 and it is a bit tricky to navigate.

3) It is useful to set the CPU speed up for better performance. Tap the CPU speed meter in the mid of top bar.
4) Use shutdown icon in the home menu to bring the system down savely.
Enjoy!

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES
##################
Please read the attached and included readme.txt for detailed information.
Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick basis
-optimized for our hd2 CPU
-large performance improvement
-up to date app versions
-new graphical interface
Better connectivity
-3 modes to interact via USB selectable
-file transfer and interactive shell via ADB and USB ETHERNET (ssh)
-USB HOST mode to connect thousands of peripheral devices like keyboards, mice, usb mass storage devices.
Improved drivers
-Backlight control
-Battery charging and state reading
IMPORTANT NOTES
##############
-There is a known problem with the menu not appearing so you will only see a single icon on a normal desktop instead of the fancy menu seen above. You can fix it as explained below.
-There is still no audio in calls and generally due to lack fo ALSA driver for hd2.
-The hardware keys don't work
-No screen rotation added
-The battery % can only be read via shortcut. Icon will always show low state
Please do not report these problems.
In case you are affected by the no-menu problem here is a quick fix:
Add the 'main menu' in the top panel in order to start apps:
-Tap and hold a free spot in the top panel for like 3 secs (note that the area between the left and middle icons is not free s1pace but the window picker) and release the cursor. This is supposed to simulate right click. It is a big tricky..
-A drop down menu should appear
-Select add to panel
-Drag the 'main menu' item to the panel
-You can now start programs and edit settings.
a)In settings menu select session settings and make 'Ubuntu netbook 2d' session default settings menu. Only drawback is you can't add programs to the panel in it.
b)Go to 'startup applications' and try raising the delay in seconds for nbl (netbook-launcher-efl) to start.
Let me know if you get the workaround going in case you were affected
DEVELOPERS' CORNER

I documented the most important stuff about 'Ubuntu for HD2' in the htc-linux wiki. With that information you can rebuild it from scratch - or implement other OS like meego, kubuntu, etc.

Some parts are not yet updated to match the 0.3 status but I hope I can do it soon.

[App] SwitchMe secure login manager needs Streak testers please!

Hi everyone. Im one of the developers of SwitchMe, and app that allows multiple secure logins into separate installations of android on a single device. The pr is after the break.
I really need a few people to check into some issues people on the streak have been experiencing. There are some warnings involved:
- testers must perform a full nandroid backup before using the app, it is not our responsibility if you start getting boot loops or whatever
- if you report results or bugs, please use the "Write to us" function in the app whenever possible, and always describe the issue in the header of the logs you send
- if you post here, bes sure to include your device type and rom
- if you have apps installed on sd, be sure to mention that as well
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
The technology behind SwitchMe saves all of your applications and data, protects it and stores it as a file in memory. You can then log out of an
account and log into a fresh installation of Android or another account with its own unique content.
You may create as many profiles as the memory is capable of holding. Some of these may require very little free memory because they contain few apps,
others will be larger as they contain many applications and lots of cache and data.
Why is this functionality useful?
Privacy - the most obvious benefit is that you can securely share one device among multiple users, which gives you privacy and peace of mind.
Testing - if you are a developer, you can use profiles as clean sandboxes to test your applications and their interaction with the system.
Gaming – with multiple installations of Android on a single device, you can now play online MMOs as different characters.
Speed - the games your kids play slow down your tablet, but with SwitchMe you can easily create profiles without games or instant messengers.
Battery life - when the battery is low but there are important emails or documents to edit later, switch to a profile which only contains these essentials.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.
Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme
The Lite version allows the creation of two profiles, enough to test on.
Screens:
like multiple OS on computer?
wow... awesome! i will stand here to wait
awesome idea bro!
Hi there,
I'm gonna try it over the weekend and dreport back with any issues, if there will be any. Is the app for the moment free?
Cheers,
C
Yes, its free and will always be free.

But you make a differentiation between the lite version and the paid version. If you want it really tested out, and what devs usually do, is post a link to download the full version here and not be sending us to the Market to download the same thing all the others have access to

I have a Streak 5 running the DSC ROM, a gingerbread variant and your app immediately says it's not compatible with my device.
The app automatically sent you a log.

UM can't you any feedback if you can't get it to run on our devices... like I said in an earlier post, it won't run on my Streak 5. That's with it running even stock Froyo which I flashed because of my interest in your app. Not will it run on a stock Gingerbread ROM on my Streak 5.
1.2.2 - HOTFIX 2
Reworked widget on qHD+ displays
Fixed widget text on HC and ICS
Fast switch improved on older devices

As I stated in my earlier post, I tried your app with the stock and custom GINGERBREAD ROMs for the Streak, it STILL did not work.

[APP] Flipboard for Android

Valcho said:
You know how Flipboard was exclusive only to the Galaxy S III? Sure, you can stand in line and wait for the official launch for the Android app, but since we are all buddies here...
It's simple, I just had a Galaxy S III lying around and I extracted the .apk using AirDroid. So, there you go.
Woot! My favorite site has covered me - http://blog.gsmarena.com/flipboard-...gs-cool-news-feeds-to-non-galaxy-s-iii-users/
About the S Voice, I no longer have the phone with me. But I'll try my best to get it again and extract everything you guys have asked for. Stay tuned.

Works fine with Longhorn v2.7 Red rom.
I just don't get it
Thank you for the info about the android version of flipboard. I just don't get why people will choose this sort of software over a solid rss-feedreader.
The only advantage I could find is the eye-candy with that flip effect. But the downside is much more severe:
* works only in portrait, no landscape
* doesn't remember which articles I've read, and which are new to me
* can't import my opml-feedlist, I can't even use my own rss-feeds.
* need an account at their side to 'manage' my sources
* collects some data about my device (even the device-id)
* in german papers the picture and the text often don't match
* need a lot of space in /sdcard/Android
* prioritise articles high that doesn't interest me
It took me half a day to remove google-analytics, flurry, hockey and some other crap-library that counts every click I make in this spyware.
All in all I think this software is just another instagram. Some glorified little value software, only apple-users can be excited about.

[ROM][Early pre-alpha] AOSP ICS 4.0.4_r2.1 for DS5.

PREFACE: This ROM is not intended for everyday use and posted mainly for experienced users and streak-oriented developerss to evaluate it and collaborate on bug resolution and further development. If you expect it to fit any particular purpose - answer is: "No, not yet."
People who really helped to make this possible:
985hPaKicK - author of original cm9 overlay files and pricey patches for DSC kernel.
Sergei Lyubshin (n0p) - team lead of DSC Phoenix kernel, which is used (in it's ICS-que incarnation) to power up this ROM.
Marc Alexander (marc1706) - original kgsl3.8 backport is taken from his kernel HD2 ics and used to provide support for ICS adreno drivers. Also, Marc's advices on changes in hw init procedures related to new kgsl were priceless. Marc, you're da man!
TeamICS - for excellent guides on installing android build environment.
Team Evervolv and CyanogenMod teams - for their hardware overlays.
Currently working:
Boot
Adeno drivers used to provide hwaccel (for real now, surfaceflinger no longer eats 100% of cpu all the time)
GSM subsystem - rild is partially working (no sim pin prompt)
Bluetooth - seem to work. Phone is able to pair to BT headset and output sound thru it (OP's Nokia's BH-103 - tested)
Wifi - partially. Signal strenght not being displayed at statusbar
Touchscreen - working.
Charging - works partially. Phone charges, reports battery percentage, but not voltages.
Sound output - works (No headset icon in statusbar is normal for stock sources.)
Data usage collecting.
UMS
Known not to work:
Everything that's not listed as working.
Other bugs observed by OP (to be extended with ROM users' feedback):
No mobile data reported by several users. OP is unable to reproduce it, so it's being investigated in "blind" mode at the moment. Currently known rild refuses to establish datacall because it thinks that user has no data subscription. EDIT: there's report that removing PIN makes things to work. Not perfect, yes, but worth a try. Report your results, please.
Scanning for available cellular networks is broken.
Extremely high load average (sometimes, seem to be caused by installed applications)
Development related links:
Kernel source: https://github.com/kibuuka/dsc-team-kernel-project/tree/ics - fork of DSC Phoenix kernel that's being used in this ROM. ics branch will be pulled back to main DSC kernel project source tree after n0p's return from vacation.
Device overlay based on hPa's code, changed to build against AOSP source tree instead of CM9's.
Download links: ROM itself - Updated Jul. 14th 13:53MST (changes: see post #2)
Alternative build - OBSOLETE Updated Jun. 28th 05:16MST. Temoporary solution for webkit rendering glitches.
gapps: update-Gapps-ICS-20710.zip See TheManii's post for details Mirror
root: Superuser.zip recommended way to gain a root on this ROM (By TheManii) Mirror
Screenshots: posted earlier in General forum *click*
Installation precautions: Usual ones. ROM is pre-alpha, so nandroid backup is your natural choice in this case . Factory reset from recovery menu is suggested (dalvik cache deletion is optional but recommended for first boot - caches will be rebuilt anyway).
Updating from previous builds of this ROM:
Flash new version
Flash gapps
Flash Superuser.zip (if applicable)
Last words: Feel free to provide additional details and feedback as you test it out. This project is amied to provide a stable base for future streak development. Once we have stable AOSP with full hw support - we have nice shortcut for porting anything that's not AOSP.
P.S. OP is not really experienced in ROM hacking and modding - all tips related to optimisation are greatly welcomed - for everyone's benefit
Reseved
Changelog (New records are displayed first):
Jul. 14 (built and uploaded for internal testing Jul. 13)
kernel: hPa's "force speaker on" patch.
system: Multiple internal changes in camera-related stuff (just for ther record. camera is still unfunctional)
build.prop: mobiledata.interfaces=ppp0. ro.telephony.ril.v3=datacall,signalstrength,facilitylock,icccardstatus,skipbrokendatacall
Jul. 11
kernel: reverted io scheduler back to cfq.
kernel: default cpu governor: smartass2.
kernel: screen rotation patch from updated Phoenix branch. Credits to hPa and n0p. hw.sw.rotation=180 is obsolete now.
system: *finally* there's working (for OP, please do extensive testing and report back) usb mass storage. Cm9's vold and LegacyUsbSupport (along with messing with rest of source) did a trick.
system: removed BasicSmsReceiver.apk from being built and installed. Double sms notifications should be gone.
Jul. 02
kernel: enabled iptables support (needed for mobile quota setting).
kernel: new cpu governors added. feel free to play with them and share your experience.
kernel: added new io schedulers. new default is sio (matter of change).
system: mobile quota setup is functional as of now.
system: built with BOARD_AAPT_PREF_CONFIG := hdpi mdpi. 160dpi users - please check if dialer problem is still present.
interface: added two previously unincluded LWPs.
Jun. 30
Resolved FCs in kgsl shown in 0630 posted earlier. Please re-download. Filename should read as dell_streak-ota-eng.den.063012-2.zip
kernel - Added support for quota2. Mobile data limits will work in next release (still need to figure if iptables binary is needed for this to function)
OpenGL-disabled build is put on hold and won't be updated since we have figured most of opengl-related problems now.
Fixed webkit rendering issues. (Gmail renders pages correctly but seem to "hide" message content on scroll. Anyone aware of gmail app bugtracker presence? Share a link, please UPDATE: not present at clean install. Please check if dalvik cache fleanup fixes it for you. If not - try factory reset) Please note browser is built with OpenGL rendering disabled by default for OP's testing purposes. This will be changed in next build.
Multimedia libs being built from sources now.
Working video in YouTube as result
Lots of Qualcomm-related patches in OpenGL-subsystem (selected parts of frameworks/base taken from mikegapinski's PolishBlood repo (Great job, Mike), lots of patches are from CAF, source was additionally patched (proper ro.sf.hwrotation=180 support, gradient fix, some more) to work correctly on DS5)
Removed some unfunctional components from being built. Factory reset recommended for full removal if updating from previous builds of this ROM.
Flipped thumbnails in recent apps issue - fixed. Re-enabling...
kernel: re-enabled per-process pages in kgsl (default setup).
kernel: default io governor set to ondemand.
Jun. 28
0627 rebuilt with new flags. no changes in code. hdpi resources are included and used by default.
added debug.egl.swapinterval=0 to build.prop
Added Superuser.apk (non-functional at the moment. Use Superuser.zip from TheManii's thread for now)
Jun. 27
Partial fix for mobile data. Searching for available networks known to fail. EDIT:SIM PIN request - still no love. Please test everything you can and report back.
Data usage logging is working now. Necessary patches applied to kernel source.
Surfaceflinger has dithering enabled by default. Smooth gradients ftw.
Added missing LWPs (requested by TheManii)
Added alternative build (it's being built with USE_OPENGL_RENDERER set to false). It has no webkit rendering bug at cost of lesser interface attractiveness.
Tethering options re-enabled. Check which are worked for you and report back, please.
Jun. 23
Disabled per-process page tables in KGSL driver (for now, matter of reversal on test results)
Surfaceflinger problem resolved. Interface is pretty smooth now
Enabled PF_KEY support in kernel (in resolution of pkoning's bug report)
Jun. 21
new kernel build - ipv6 is enabled - without this google services fail to operate properly
added missing apps (Messaging, Camera (broken) and several others) to build set
added some findings to build.prop, removed libGLES_android.so - overall interface performance is slightly improved, yet we're sure we're running with hwaccel now
Jun. 19
sound is partially working now (speaker and BT headsets. wired headsets/headphones not working yet)
if i not mistaken... there is ICS apps rip/port for messaging... i think i have seen that on market...

What a great start!
I just tried it for a while. It feels awesome to have gotten this far. The ROM is quite laggy as the OP has already mentioned but I was able to get around. I was unable to make a call got an error about sim card not being there. I didn't have any 3G connectivity either. And didn't have any Wi-Fi to try since I am office right now. Since I did this in a hurry I forgot to factory reset but didn't get any FCs. I am upgrading from CM 7.2. None of the google apps seem to work besides youtube but all other apps started without any issues. Looks very good though it's almost like I can smell ICS now.
I have a spare Streak so am happy to reserve it for testing. Let me know if I can do anything specific.
I can confirm that wifi works.
I have tried setting up my Google account but get "Unfortunately, Exchange Services has stopped"
Browser works after a fashion but is not usable.
I can dial outgoing call and the receiving phone rings but no sound. Likewise for incoming calls, my Streak rings but I can't hear the caller and the caller can't hear me.
I seem to have trouble setting up an APN.
Sorry if all of this is already known. I still can't believe that I am looking at Android 4.04 on my Streak.
omg!
I am so looking forward to this!
Mega-Kudos to everyone involved!
yes, this is a good start for DS5 android 4.0 .
good start!
waiting for your further work,
thanks a lot.

Yep, will look further, thanks a lot. Right now i'm trying to figure what causes gralloc to get this mad (almost sure that buffer status errors are the main reason of phone sluggishness).
Oh and btw, could you please post logcat taken while sending sms?
Oh! Yes, Yes, Yes ... =P
Will flash it wright-a-way and give some feedback
Great news ! "You've made my dreams come true" =D
Hope it'll be great and powerfull change for our DS5's =]

Ok, so: - WiFi - worsk
My menu LEDs are always on, even after screen time out.
Camera (from lock screen) makes device reset. [there is no camera app i think]
Can't Add any APNs
Sound want work at all
Can make incoming/outgoing call (but with no sound in my earphone/mic)
Web browser cant display pages correcly
Screen brightness want work
Gallery(phonee) want access my SD
Phone correctly downloaded time data from operator.
I would offer every possible assistance in developing the project =P
Great JOB! ...going back to DSC1.1 - ...till now.

Kibuuka would you take a look at CM9 for Acer Liquid?
It is almost same as DS 5.
Maybe you can use the necessary libs from that ROM to solve the issues.
Sms send and received work perfect now (maybe last time hv bad network), opera mobile browser work perfect, superuser not work well, can use root explorer but cannot use other root apps.
This is really a good start, I believe we will hv stable version soon.
