[Q] HTC Mail error on IMAP digitally signed mail - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I know this is a known issue with HTC's mail client but I just thought I would throw it out here in the hope that someone has a solution.
On IMAP accounts if you receive a digitally signed email the HTC client displays "The Mail is still on the server" and will not display the body of the message. I know this is due to the mail app not dealing properly with certs. I also know that there are many third party apps like k9 mail and mail droid that work correctly, but I love the HTC mail widget and ability to have multiple accounts show up there and there seems to be no 3rd party mail widgets that do this function well.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem so that I can use the HTC mail app and widget?

Still crappy IMAP support?

Hey all,
did I miss something or are we still stuck with the same crappy IMAP support
that was there in the initial release?
I'm using hMailserver and get No Mails although I am getting the folder names
downloaded. This issue was due to the HTC client not supporting IMAP Prefix.
Did anyone solve this or does HTC need a kick in teh behind?
Tried with my Google account as well (which you'd think would work) for testing
purposes and no go...

I'm using two IMAP accounts (one is a Google) just fine.
In the HTC client (not K9)?
How did you configure GMail?

The missing folder-path preference has been acknowledged by HTC support, along with a number of other problems with htc-mail. Except from that IMAP has worked well for me, at least with the recent upgrade.
My worst problem with HTC-Mail is that it refuses to display signed messages. That's a big issue with 1/3 of all my incoming messages having GnuPG signatures.
HTC Mail never worked for me, when I configured it for access to a unsecured IMAP account on the local (WiFi connected) network it didn't pull down any mail automatically and whenever I manually forced it to sync it would force close.
In the end I decided resitance was futile and allowed myself to be assimilated into the Google collective. All my incoming mail from all my accounts is now collected by my GMail account, and I access it using the GMail app on the phone (which does push email, unlike the HTC Mail app). The ability of GMail to use multiple SMTP servers and/or set the 'From' address combined with automatic selection of the address to use for outgoing mail means my sent mail still appears to originate from my original accounts.
Stop whining and install k-9 mail. I found the newest 1.006 to really work well. If it had a homescreen widget then it would be perfect.
Did install K-9 the day I got the device, works okay.
My point is, when a device is sent out with an e-mail app
with such crappy compliance, it's sad...
... and to quote you... "If it had a homescreen widget then it would be perfect"
this would be nice...

HTC email apps not syncing w/ gmail

The HTC email apps on my Sprint Hero are not auto syncing with my gmail.
The gmail email app is auto syncing just fine, I receive emails immediately but only in my gmail brand inbox. They are not automatically going to my HTC device inbox or the HTC email widget.
Basically, if I want to get push email I have to use my gmail specific inbox.
If I want to use the HTC inbox or email widget then I dont get the luxury of push email.
I can use them both but then I get 2 notifications for each email.
Any solutions?
I know I could just set my HTC email to update every 5 minutes but that's an awful lot of battery to burn...
Is there a way to have my gmail pushed or auto synced to my HTC email apps as well as my gmail branded email inbox?
Is this already supposed to happen? Could I have broken something rooting? All I have done with root access is remove some sprintware following the safe app removal thread and installed THIS OPTIMIZER.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!!
Gmail support MS Exchange push, and you can set the HTC Email app up to use it. You can also turn off email notifications on the Mail app, if you want to use both Gmail and HTC mail.

Dave

[Q] Sense Mail App Marks all Gmail as Unread

Hi, I searched the forums but could not find any thread that dealt with this issue (for any phone), so I apologize if it's already been posted. And since I don't know if this is just an issue with the Rezound, I'm posting it here.
When I set up my Rezound I entered in my Google account info, and the phone automatically set up my Gmail account both in the Gmail app and in the stock HTC Sense Mail app. The Gmail app seems to work fine, but the stock email app doesn't sync the read status of new messages. If I get any emails in Gmail during the day, even if I log into it on my computer and read the messages, they still show up as unread in the sense mail app. Refreshing the app doesn't change anything. In the Gmail app, the messages will be marked as read if I have viewed them anywhere else.
I can't figure out how to fix this, and there doesn't seem to be a way to edit any server settings for the account, as sense has it registered as a Gmail account in the stock mail app, and not as a pop/imap account.
Anybody having this problem, or know how to fix it? I'm a new android user, and have only had this phone for a few days. Thanks.
Just take the gmail email out of the htc mail and just use the gmail email app to get your gmail mail.

I would like to avoid doing this if possible. I like having all my mail in one place. Any way to fix the stock app?
Email htc/usa and ask them. It only takes one second to push the gmail app, that's what I do. I understand you don't want to do that. Htc should be able to tell you how to change the settings.

I got an official reply from HTC:
Thank you for contacting HTC Technical support about the issue you are having with your Gmail account on your device. I do apologize that you have this issue with your device and I will gladly assist you with this today. We recommend you delete your Gmail account from the mail application on your device and use the Gmail application for your Gmail account on your device. The issue you are having it with the way the Gmail POP3 servers work with the Mail application on the device and there is not a setting to make it sync up to have the mail show up read until you up it on your device.

So it looks like, for whatever reason, the Gmail setting in the sense email app defaults to POP3, even though I have IMAP enabled in my gmail web settings. Unless anyone knows a way to fix this, I guess I will have to either set Gmail up as a regular IMAP account or just use the standalone application.
Thanks for the replies

[Q] Yahoo email with built-in email app

I just received a Droid RAZR from my employer and after setting up yahoo email with the built-in email app (I do not like the ads in the Yahoo application so I do not run that) I noticed that email messages that I delete on Yahoo elsewhere (read: mail.yahoo.com) remain on the phone. Even if I do a manual sync the deleted messages still remain. Is there a way to correct this?
I did a search and haven't noticed anyone else mention this which is kind of surprising and maybe indicative that something in my setup got messed up. I tried deleting and re-adding the account but the problem persists.

E-mail working only with stock e-mail app

Hello,
I have a Moto Z with a business e-mail configured on it (exchange) that is working only on the stock/default e-mail app - in this case, Gmail and nothing else, no other 3rd party e-mail app. The IT guys told me that this is company policy and this is intended, but I would really like to use another app for the business account, like Outlook or something else...not a big fan of Gmail.
Any ideas on how to bypass this? Cheers!
