Taurus Aluminium Bumper - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

So, just got the case, and glad to say that it is a perfect fit, save for the top mic being slightly covered (which is fairly immaterial imo).
The fit and finish are absolutely top grade. The case does not seem to affect radio signals nor accessibility of the battery cover, headphone jack, speaker and microphone.
It's important to note that the phone with the bumper on feels nice and secure in my hands. I have 'standard-sized' hands, and found the phone alone slippery, as if it were about to jump out of my hands at any point. After adding the bumper, grasping the side of the phone makes it feel much more secure and actually easier to use. Much less awkward.
UPDATE - The phone's total weight with a micro sd card, oem batter, and the bumper is 154-155 grams. Meaning, the bumper adds about 39-40 grams.
On with the pictures.

Really big box for a small package inside.
Shows where to install foam tape.
Very nice and snug fit, with zero play- before adding foam tape.
Foam tape in place now that I know the phone fits well.
Perhaps they left this bare for a wrist strap? Though, I didn't notice a slot for one on the international version. In any case (pun?), the bumper case seems to extrude far beyond the exposed part.
Not the best angle, but the loudspeaker is perfectly centered, and fully exposed.
Note the mic port (bottom of phone). Fully exposed, near-perfect alignment.
The volume and power buttons are still easily triggered, although they seem recessed within the bumper. You have to use the cushioning of the finger, as opposed to the tip however.
Standard headphone jack fits snugly, without contacting the bumper.
The tiny bump on the back of the case, part of the headphone jack surround, provides a 1mm clearance. Since the camera module slightly protrudes, the actual camera clearance, at it's lowest point, is about a 0.5mm. While this is far from sufficient on a rough surface, it is good to know that sliding it across a flat surface such as a table or desktop will not damage the camera.
A good 1mm+ of clearance on the front side.

where did you buy this case? and what would be a decent price to pay for it?

holy huge pictures, batman nice case, though.

I commented on your other thread, but, sick case! How long did it take to get here and how much was the shipping? It might just be worth $40. Does it completely cover the noise canceling mic?
Edit, saw you answered over there. $40 + 8.50 off ebay.

ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAMSUNG-GAL...ccessories&hash=item3f0bae1319#ht_6510wt_1163
Same company sells it on their website: http://www.toughracing.com/zc126d/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=199
It shipped from SK, as you can see. Surprisingly, it took about 5-6 business days only, from the order date.
Yes, it does completely cover the noise cancelling mic..., but I think enough background sound gets in there for it to compensate accordingly. I do need to do some more filed testing.

Wow! Awesome photos-- and, by far the best use of macro I've seen on this site for a case review. Absolutely answers any possible questions about clearance, protection, etc.
Great job... have some thanks, and now I must place my order!

Not gonna lie. That's pretty hardcore. I like it.

It does cover the noise-cancelling mic. However, seems fine for now. I haven't noticed any difference during calls yet.

Excellent review!!!
Does it add much weight to the phone?
And do you think the screws might snatch on things, like dress pants?
Thanx!!

Looks like a nice accessory.
My favorite part?
"Cut the crash pad condignly, crash pad includes."
CONDIGNLY!
I also dig how the "exclusive driver" is a Phillips head.

this looks like a a pretty awesome case, but would you say worth the price over another premium case ?

It adds very little weight as the frame is aluminum, but it does give the phone a much appreciated sturdier feel. Adds just the right amount of bulkiness, and provides a really secure feeling when in hand.
I personally felt the phone felt a little too light, and cheap prior. I prefer a solid, dense feel, which this provides in the perfect amount.
They is no way for the screws to catch on anything. They are recessed deep enough.

Without a single doubt. As I said in the previous post, this is just what this phone needs. No more, no less.
I think that silicone cases do the job, but fall (very) short in terms of aesthetics. As do other hard plastics and plastic/ metal combinations.
This is a nice piece of hardware, and has a great profile. Shrouding it in cheap silicone or plastic, even it it's considered a 'premium' case, simply takes away the appeal. All metal gives it just what it needs to feel more solid, much like an iPhone 4, which is undeniably sleek - glass and metal - only rugged materials.
This phone feels overly 'plasticky'. This particular solution provides exactly the remedy to that, while maintaining it's overall slim profile. I think it's well balanced, and offers great protection from drops on hard surfaces.

Beat me to it! I ordered the black one of these over a week ago. Main reason is that it allows the back to be taken off while the case is still on. EXTENDED BATTERY!
Hopefully it doesn't look terrible.
My expected shipping date? NOVEMBER 15!
soo not fair

Thanks for the awesome review, case look amazing, the only concern I have is it covers noise-cancellation mic... In plastic it's easy, in alu it's a bit more difficult to make hole myself...
BTW: They added link to this thread on their site http://www.toughracing.com/zc126d/i...d=2091&zenid=229de66707581ea3fef5bb9cb3b2c692

Another FolioGuard case review

I was lucky enough to be greeted by the UPS man today with a FolioGuard prototype. Thanks to the others (jms_uk, it2steve) for their great reviews. They have really done a great job, and I agree with everything that they have said thus far. Therefore, I'll touch briefly on the build, fit and features, then add my thoughts for improvement.

You can see the fit of this case is very good. It appears well made, and the Transformer doesn't slide around during normal use.
Care has been taken not to cover any of the critical buttons/or connections which I appreciate! No need to remove the unit from the case to insert a microSD, or connect HDMI. Likewise the proprietary connector is accessible, as are the power/volume and headphone connector. Also cutouts for the speakers have been integrated. A+
Viewing angles are good, though I would like to see a more shallow angle for desktop typing. More on this later, as I have some ideas for this.
The indents are plenty deep enough to hold the unit upright and stable. As was discussed in another review, if you are familiar with the clip case for the Gtab, these grooves hold the tablet much better.
This is one area where I am a little concerned. If you are carrying the folio case by the edge, the transformer will slide. That said, the flap is designed to stop from falling completely out, but I am worried after a bit of use, this may not be the case.
My advice would be to put some sort of velcro on the flap and the inside of the case which would solve this problem. I'll make the modification and post an update in a few days.
My next complaint, be it minor, was also addressed in another review. The magnets don't hold the case closed very tightly. I'd like to see a little stronger implementation which includes a magnetic strip along the cases' entire length.
As mentioned above, I also really want to see a more shallow typing angle as I use this tablet in meetings when I need to type a quick note or run a terminal session. My initial thought would be to design the front flap so that the very first indent can fold. This would allow one to fold the case in half, while folding up this flap, which rests in the crease on the back of the case. I hope that makes sense, I am going to try and work with the case a bit and see if I can make a modification. Pics will be included with my findings.
All in all this is a GREAT first attempt for an aftermarket case, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. The build quality is really good, and it's pretty well thought out.
-J
OK, so I bit the bullet and carefully bent the front flap at the first indent. This is a perfect angle IMO, and I think it should be incorporated into V2. It could be cleaned up with a bit of stitching, and two separate internal front flap pieces.

Thanks for the review.
I have one shipping over soon and also have the official ASUS sleeve. I'm very underwhelmed by the ASUS sleeve.

The integrity of the case is still very good. I don't have any issues with any of the angle's. You can see the crease from the front now, but it really doesn't look that bad. If you are going to do this to your case, my suggestion would be to use or build a break so that you get a really good straight line.
Pics coming.

BTW - Did you ever do the velcro modification? I'd like to know how that came out - if it added too much extra bulk, etc.

Still haven't gotten around to the velcro mod. I was actually thinking to eliminate bulk I would just use a lightweight command strip. That way I can easily remove it if I want to pull out the TF, which would probably be never. Command Strips also makes a velcro that you could use if you wanted a solution that allows you to remove the tablet more often.

A few co-workers have the dock, so we wanted to see if this case fits with the dock. No-Go. The material of the case is too thick to fit inside the clamshell of the dock. So, this case is not dock compatible, even though it has cutouts for the latches.

HTC Rezound Case Review

Okay this is my first review so bare with me on this one. I purchased the HTC case specifically designed for the Rezound. Overall makes the Rezound a bit beefier feeling, but still forms the Rezound curvature. I would guess it expands the width about 1/8" and same with bottom. But none added to the height, this is where the case starts failing. The case was very easy to install by just simply snap it on. Fits very snug and hugs the contours of the phone around the headphone jack and buttons. It is composed plastic and a synthetic fiber material. The plastic case on the exterior has a smooth rubbery texture around the perimeter of the device. Inside on the rear of the cover is a stitched applied "grip" from said fiber. I'm not good with material but seems to be like some form of a polyester. Overall, a fair case until we start talking about protection. Included is pictures with brief description. Now for the bad, it is definitely not an Otterbox. With the case attached, all four corners are unprotected and susceptible to damage. The case itself stops short right at the top and bottom giving you minor protection on these two sides. The other two sides (left and right) are covered, but still have issues. The case does not come up even or higher than the elevation of the screen. The screen/bezel sticks up just a tad, but still not good. If the phone were to be dropped perfectly parallel with the ground screen side down, this phone wouldn't have a fighting chance with this case on. If no screen protector was applied, just sliding it around face down could cause unnecessary scratches. Now back to the back part of the case. The stitched "grip" has a couple flaws in itself. I barely took my fingernail over this material, and I could see the material ripping apart. Think about his sliding in and out of your pocket. Also, the stitched part is held down with some epoxy that doesn't seem to hold very well. Around the camera cover, the material was coming up just rubbing my finger over it. Not even trying to dig into it, just merely rubbing my finger over it. Overall this phone fails in a great portion of protection, and construction. The good is it still maintains the original feel of the Rezound.

This is the full rear shot the back. Just shows kinda the make up and construction of the case.
Just a quick picture of the HTC logo on the back of the case in closer detail.
Rear showing of the case around the speaker.
The camera area where I found the "grip" to seem loose from attachment.
This is the bottom side of the device, as show the whole bottom is exposed to potential damage.
A shot of the device and case from side. Kind of hard to tell, but the screen bezel sticks up higher than the actual case.
And this is a shot of the corner, and the exposure it has.
Pictures taken by my trusty Droid Incredible.

Cimotech TPU Case Impressions

Hello,
Picked up a TPU case from Cimotech in Black, S style a few days ago and thought i would share my thoughts on it.
PRICE: You cannot complain about the price. Anything that is 1/3 of the price as the ones that are located in the store are a win. These cases really are the cheapest you want to go without sacrificing quality. Trust me, DO NOT get those full silicone $3 ones on eBay.
FEEL: The case is smooth for one half, and more plastic on the other. The "S" line is actually a design, where one part is straight TPU, and the other is a softened matte finish. The matte finish is very close to what you would get with the soft touch smartphones of yesteryear. The other part is also TPU, however has a more of a "sticky" feel to it. Also with this case, the sides are textured for grip. I cannot stress how much i like this. Under any situation, I have never felt like I would drop the phone with these grips. Definitely adds extra feel to the super slippery awesome phone that we have.
LOOK: To be honest, I always thought these cases looked cheap. Now that I have one, i would say that these S series cases beat the $25 ones you see at the Verizon retail stores without question. If your looking for something more rugged, I would look more towards otterbox
FIT: Super snug fit. Its almost too snug when putting my phone in there. However once its in there, there is no wiggling or gaps at all. the left and right sides tend to buckle when you pull them away from the phone, but that pretty much the standard for any kind of case like this.
BUTTON ACCESS: The buttons for camera, power and volume control are very tight. They work great and the tactile feedback feels better with this case than without it. I honestly never thought I would say that, however it does add a little extra press into each of the buttons. The Volume and Power buttons are both covered by the case.
Design: The case has a pre-cut spot for the SD/SIM door. This i thought was awesome, as some cases have that area sealed. The main, and really only negative with this case was that it covered the secondary microphone that's located on the bottom, back of the device. My recommendation would be that if you were to buy the case, i would make a hole (I don't know what method would be the best way to recommend) so that you don't loose the functionality of that second microphone. The phone will be expecting it, however I haven't noticed any call quality degradation so far.
Final Thoughts:
In the final tally the case is well made, looks good, fits the device, & the price is right, if it wasn't for the secondary microphone being blocked, it would be a perfect review for a perfectly priced TPU case.
4.5/5
Rob

Sikai TF300 silicone case - review with pics

Ordered from China - I was thinking about importing more for other devices and selling them on if they were good enough, as there's an absence of silicone cases on the market here.
So, it comes in a rather nice plastic sleeve with Sikai all over it, and a very inspirational slogan: "Design originates from life. Specialization achieves quality." All good so far! I'm more impressed than I expected to be. Except with the slogan. It's not inspirational.

So I open up the sleeve. Immediately notice a really acrid rubber smell, even a few feet from the case. It's horrendous. It smells like there's been a friction fire in a condom factory. I've smelled more pleasant things coming out of my cat. You might expect this to be just the new rubber smell, but a rinse off doesn't get rid of it. No, this smell is here to stay. This certainly isn't the food grade material you get on some others. You'd be lucky to live if you ate anything off this.
Not that these things are designed for having lunch off, of course - but there's a trend today away from caustic rubber smells, BPA and parabens, and this doesn't try to follow. I wouldn't want any of the small things in my house chewing on this.
The smell is more bearable after a while. It's probably destroying my nose hairs. Okay, front view.
It looks okay. So some parts of it do take a big nod toward quality. The feel of the case is nice - the textured cover certainly won't be slipping out of your hands, and it's reasonably thick. The logo imprinted inside the case is a nice touch, too - that little extra bit, even though it's basically just a bit of blown rubber, adds to the overall impression of it.
The holes for peripherals, sensors and the cameras are nice, too - there's no spare silicone hanging off the holes, and overall it's really well made.
The back is just as nice. That textured feel is present all the way around. The Sikai logo is nicely imprinted - the detail is good. Overall, having a good feeling about it.
Okay, let's slide in the TF300T...
It goes in easily. Probably slightly too easily - after literally no struggle at all, the pad is in the case. And here's where the problems start.
Although the case fits snugly around the back, with all the holes matching up to the ports and sensors, around the front it's a different story. The front camera holes and sensors don't fit snugly - they're a few mm from the case holes, so that renders the front camera useless. You end up just seeing the ill-fitting case. All around the front of the case, the poor fit is the same:
But the holes fit nicely around the rest of the case: there isn't a mismatched hole, everything fits in and the volume buttons are taken care of nicely. They work very well.
However, leaving it on for a while, the deficiencies become apparent. That smell is back every time you get close to the tablet. Naturally, you may as well forget about using your front camera, too: it fits so poorly that it's entirely obscured by the case unless you hold it down to the glass. And the case starts to pick up the smallest of dust particles - not only that, but they stick to the case like... well, like the bad smell that the case also came with. They're a nightmare to get rid of. You're not cleaning this one in a hurry. And when you do clean it, it's going to get filthy again really quickly.
Alright, this is the black one - and we all know that black things show the dirt more. But the textured cover, while very impressive and grippy, just serves to attract dirt that gets stuck in the textures.
Not a great case - those fundamental flaws are the smell, the way dirt gets lodged in there and the extremely poor fit. "Specialization achieves quality"? It clearly doesn't. I think this is going in the bin - unless I find out a way to shrink it onto the pad, and then spray it with Febreeze every day.
Check this post out. I bought a silicone case off EBay that fits perfectly. Also, no acrid smell either. I have also listed my other purchases for my tablet in this post. The only thing missing is the dock. I just got it the other day from Office Depot. The manager even matched the price Walmart had online. I paid $119 for the dock.

Interesting. I was looking at a folding case instead. Something that's very similar to the first one - does the tablet fit pretty snugly?
Either that or a revolving one. They're just bulky, though. Kinda defeats the point of a thin and light tablet.

Oh yes, It fits the tab perfectly and I'm actually very impressed with it. Now that I've gone and bought a dock, I won't be using it as much as I would like.
I just bought a Poetic leather case for the dock and keyboard. According to the details and the reviews, it's all real leather and not the PU leather a lot of the cases are made of. I'll have it the first or second week of January and post a review for it.
Here's a link for it.

Have also the same problem as User in post 1

My Seidio Surface came in today. Pictures/impressions inside.

I received the Seidio Suface case with holster this morning and have put it through enough torture to come up with some initial impressions. The case fits the phone tightly which feels nice and secure, and the cutouts on the sides are all placed perfectly. The case has a soft-touch coating that feels really nice, but can make the phone somewhat slippery. I am cursed with oily skin and that shows up pretty easily on the case.
Here's what I'm liking:
- Overall fit and cutout placement are spot on. The cutout for the headphones leaves enough room for somewhat over sized cables. The cutout for the S Pen does not make the S Pen more difficult to remove.
- Kickstand works well. It is held in place by a magnet, but the magnet is not strong enough to cause interference with the S Pen.
- The case also does not interfere with NFC
- The holser is well made, and it has fabric to protect the screen of the phone when it is holstered. (velvet maybe?)
Here's what I am not liking:
- The case absorbs the oil from my hands and looks greasy after a few minutes use. (This of course can be wiped off)
- The holster is not reversible like I was hoping it was. The phone can only be inserted with the face covered by the holster.
Other than that, there isn't a whole lot to say. It is a decent case that looks like it will do its job fairly well. Here are some pictures:

I had a Seidio holster, way back, on my G1. Loved that case. I am waiting for the Seidio Active w/ Holster.
Does the holster have the lower lip on the clip to keep it from sliding off the belt, like the old G1 holster?

Yes. Thank you. That lip at the bottom of the clip helps keep the holster from slipping off your belt or lip of your pocket.
Thanks

I had this case for the Note 2. I was able to recommend it to a friend. Very good case. Especially if you're an active user. The holster rotates and the spring is very strong. Survived 1 or 2 drops on concrete. Easy to take off to pull/replace battery or SD/SIM card. So where's a purchase link?

Looks great. I wish they would hurry up and release the Seidio Active.

Nice!!! Mine is on its way! have one on my og evo4g and its never failed me!
I have the Platinum version of this case which I don't know why it's called platinum because it is made by Seidio in the first place. Just like the Platinum batteries. I think it's a best buy exclusive which is where I purchased mine from.

this case slide in and out of pocket with no problem or is their some gripping? also is this case going to provide "armor" against small drops...... i'm considering rocking this phone with no case considering i have insurance on the phone... but a kickstand would be nice along with good protection... want as slim as possible.. no extra bulk.. obviously i mean as little as possible.. is the seido the only thing that looks like decent quality that has a kick stand? been staring down some spigens too... i know, no kickstand... but curious if it offers better protection..... the bounce looks like the slickest on the spigen side but not sure if its worth its weight.. all though it has great reviews on amazon

I'm 6'2, 245lbs so maybe my pockets are a little bigger than some, but the case does not make it harder at all to take out of your pocket. I have not dropped the phone, but I can say that it is a hard case without any extra "cushion" that some of the 2-3 piece cases have. One thing that is nice is that when you lay the phone down on its face, it is not resting on the display. The kickstand definitely comes in handy with this phone because the screen is great for movies and games.
