All this talk about people cooking roms and porting miui already but im more curious about who can port Sense 3.5.... Any one got plans for that? xBoarder? Revolution?

Does not sound like you will be busy enough - lol - save some room for 2.4!
Thought I might be giving up on CM7 and Miui for a while if I came over from G2X - but now it does not look I will.
I don't know how good the Development team/s are here but I'll be switching to T-mo Nov.1st and getting this phone. On a side note I come from the Evo side of HTC and could possible help or get help to port this over since the Evo has had this ported over. Don't know if this is even necessary but it's an offer.

sense 3.5 its my favorite sense by far.. they made it more esay to use and less clicks for things .. looks awesome too i still have my old bolt and thats where I'm running it.. very cool.. the maze with sense 3.5 would be awesome ..

Keep on it--you have given me something to look forward to once it is ready.
\Kinda tired of asop/cm7/etc.
Runnymede isn't that big a jump.
I have spent my last couple years on the HD2, and recently became quite familiar with the Runnymede roms.
Looking at them, it's not that big a jump from Runnymede to Amaze and Sense 3.5 should be pretty simple. Graphics drivers could be a problem though.
Will elaborate when my Amaze arrives.

The sensation has the closest specs to the amaze. It has the exact same resolution, graphic drivers and similar processor.
I have made a bit of progress, and I have sense 3.5 booting but there is quite a bit of things that do not work like the mobile radio and wifi are the main ones.
sense is a waste of time! it's a bunch of lame bloatware
focus on cm7. 1 or a clean android rom

it says over sense not his 3d. I understand where he is coming from. Sense is cool but then it gets beat after a while. Isn't that the point of root? So we can change to different roms sense, aosp, miui and etc... I would think it would be cool if touch wiz 4 could also be thrown in the mix. More choices is always better.

Oh...I know. It looks like I'll probably also have an SGS2 soon and while everything looks peachy I am fearful of touchwiz. The only upside seems to be a smaller memory footprint than Sense and it's as easily avoided.
Guh. At least Sense, as fat inefficient and bloated as it is, is a sexy pig...Touchwiz is a sad parody of iOs, and I say that as a fan of MIUI....

Now that CM7 has 3D on it, there is no reason to want touchjizz. But hey to each his own. But IMO 3D CM7 is as good as it can get.

I just don't understand why you people don't understand that hardware and software are two different things. I bought an HTC because I trusted their build quality regardless of the fact that I truly hate Sense knowing full well that it would be unlocked and AOSP roms would eventually be released.
*I* don't understand how anyone enjoys Sense, but, you won't see me hassling every person who does.
Smartphones are computers.
Stop playing right into the hands of manufacturers that would prefer that XDA et al didn't even exist and they controlled your entire phone from the ground up. (That's the same thing a certain fruity logo'ed company does)
You should be allowed to run whatever software you want on your computer. A couple steps further up the "if you don't want Sense don't buy HTC" ladder would be agreeing with crypto-signed ("locked") bootloaders "to ensure a consistent user experience" or whatever line of drivel they have for it.
Sorry guys had to do it, but for real I'm saving up to get one of these bad boys and since I can't upgrade till 8/12/2012 I have to pay the big bucks for it, so look for me to be around eventually to cook up some sick roms for you guys like always.... See you soon!!!!!!

my upgrade wasn't due until 2013 but they gave it to me anyway. had an issue with my thunderbolt, no insurance, no warrenty coverage.. called asking if they could do anything for me.. they then offered me an upgrade.
also, I saw another post of someone also wanting a premature upgrade & mentioning cancelling his contract & re-signing... and was then offered an upgrade to.
if all else fails, maybe one of these chaps could report theirs lost/stolen, get a new one & then give you the lost/stolen with the bad esn you could 'fix'. of course everyone knows that's a no no. shame!
I got my early upgrade by saying I have a new job that requires 4g and if they couldn't do anything if have to switch. They even gave me a discount on the rezound!

Once I get mine if I can spare some change ill try my hardest to get a donation to you. I am looking forward to your work. I am glad to see that there is developer interest for this phone. The phone I currently have, the BravoC, pretty much had zero development besides CM7 and a couple of sense 2.0 froyo roms. (One I ported myself). I am hoping to try to develop for this phone too. There wasn't even a kernel source (for froyo) released for my BravoC so eventually I was using the eclair sense kernel to boot froyo in order to get an overclock.
I don't want to go through that stuff again so that is why I am getting a phone that more than 7 people on earth have.

S-OFF has already been done by a developer and we hope it'll be released to us soon. HTC has also pledged to give us S-OFF (at least from what I've heard).
Considering the phone has not even been released yet, this is promising good news.

Well screw HTC, I left RIM to come to droid cause i was sick of empty promises. I was told when i bought this phone that id have ICS by the end of February. Now they say later this year, thats so vague it could be December and they still have months to announce they're pushing it back further. I will never buy another HTC device. By the time they release ICS, jellybean will be out and ill still be behind. HTC may as well merge with RIM and go out of business together.

I know X is building a ICS Rom but there's no way he could know about everything HTC is going to include in their ROM. His will be base ICS with no sense. Whereas HTC will incorporate sense like we've never seen before. So I'm glad X is building a ROM but I still can't wait for HTC to release it how it's supposed to be.

You're going to find this with most non Google phones. You need to be patient, but I'm pretty sure you won't have to worry about any situations similar to rim.
I'm swapping my sgs2 with the amaze in a few days and I'm comforted that they announced they're pushing back the date. I'm assuming it means they are actively working on it and its just not good yet. If they rush, it'll be out with a million bugs and you will all complain anyways. Hold your horses everyone. I know its hard lol

I am disappointed as well. I want to know that I have the latest and greatest. BUT I have ICS on my wife's Sensation and its no different than Gingerbread with Sense on my Amaze.
I ditched my POS Galaxy S because Samsung did this exact thing to their "flagship" phone and passed on the SGSII because I expected the same crap
At least they didn't say end of 2011 and push it to Q2 like Samsung did for the SGS. I guess HTC still has time :-|
At the very least I didn't have any soul crushing problems with this phone like I did with the vibrant.

You ditched your SGS because there was no official ICS for it? SMH bro, that phone has one of the biggest developer base, there are like over 3 good 4.0 ROMs over there now. The only reason I left my SGS was because it didn't have the AWS bands
Okay Its going to be the first quarter of the year not December! Second I still think if they are testing it now we could see a release in Feb at the most March. However, The sensation has a lot of Sense 3.6 roms with ICS. I tired porting one but I failed at it. Maybe we shouldn't wait until OTA and just figure out a way to port one of those roms.

I heard the HTC ICS update will still be with Sense and will pretty much look the same. The Amaze has buttons so there won't be the newer Honeycomb/ICS soft buttons on the bottom. I'm using ICS on my Moto Xoom and the swipe to dismiss notification window and swipe to dismiss task switcher are nice, but otherwise ICS is not much different on the surface.
Soooo what is the big ICS feature members of this forum are wanting for the Amaze? I'm not understanding the disappointment. Please help me out.
Looked at the Sprint Community Forums and there was this user (crfinaz1) that went to a Sprint tech store in Arizona and met and HTC rep. According to the rep, it was supposed to be released on the 27th, but HTC sis not like the mods to the new UI in Sense. The OTA was sent to some random users but it was quickly pulled off because of the mods that HTC didn't like. According to this user, the update is coming out this Sunday, (12/2/12).
I an highly doubtful that this will happen on Sunday, but we all have our fingers crossed for this update to come out. And I think its pretty hilarious that we might get the update before the AT&T One X does . Justifies that Sprint is great at updating if we get the update on the second (first one for the GS3).

Pretty much this. I had been thinking about going with a pure Jelly Bean ROM, but figured I'd patiently wait for Sprint/HTC to release it. How long do you think it'll take to root it when it gets released? LOL
Already using JB, Ran away from Sense to (what I really hated before) CM to fix multitasking, and now cannot bring myself back to Sense. But CM10 lacking proper camera drivers, and has a bit more weirdness. Not for everyone, that's for sure.

Kind of same here. It's the "multitasking" that's killing my urge to stay on Sense. But as an interface, I like Sense more than CM10. So yea, at least I have an option to run Sense, unlike with Nexus.

Kind of same here. It's the "multitasking" that's killing my urge to stay on Sense. But as an interface, I like Sense more than CM10. So yea, at least I have an option to run Sense, unlike with Nexus.

Have you tried the multitasking fix? It makes things a lot better. Not perfect, but a hell of a lot better.

Exactly how I feel I just love the little features of sense 4 to much to lose it.
I had the nexus s 4g before this and always ended up trying to duplicate the sense widgets and ui smoothness and always ended up with an itch that aosp just couldn't scratch.

They're doing everything they possibly can to keep step with Samsung so I can see it happening.. HTC is in full on desperation mode and I like the results of it so far

Good news for sure.... Correct about football though... Almost always is key word in statement... He typically nails software related items so I'd trust this.... He was off on the One hardware as he stated no new Qualcomm snapdragon chips in development by HTC a short while ago... Somewhat easy to be fooled on that front less u have the device in hand though....
I'm more interested in timing of OTA than anything else regarding this new development....

I would like too see a OTA timing as well. Football is very good person and usually gets his hands on everything before anyone else can. Sure do miss him. He did a very good job posting the leaked firmwares . wish he could post the official current firmware right now with signed exe
Good news. I would think the ONE would get updated to 4.2.2 before Jewel. Regardless, HTC really needs to get their hands dirty this year for sure.

Sense 5 doesnt come with 4.2.2, its 4.1....but im sure this is talking about a future update rather than the first version of Sense 5, although I cant see HTC keeping Sense 5 but updating the android version, Im sure they would throw out something like Sense 5.1 or something with it
I'm running viper 3.1.4 and have used CM10.1 version 4.2.2 and i think viper hands down is better, unless I'm missing something here, i think the evo is still at its peak running the right rom and kernels.. And I've looked at the new changes to sense 5...Don't like tiles.

The first version of an official OTA that has sense 5 for this phone will deff include 4.2.2 at least... Will come after the One gets theirs but fact is its coming regardless...
