I agree, screen is the only thing that I like as well, 720p looks good. 4.65in is also pretty nice, dont know if its really worth it now? probably not. I was expecting a better CPU speed atleast...
But its not worth the wait for AT&T users (atleast me). Good that I went with GS2
I wonder if the CPU and GPU are the same ones used on the S2.
The screens sounds amazing, but having just bought an S2 I'll be keeping it for a while. Maybe I'll get a Galaxy S3 or whatever next year.

So it might display more stuff on screen but the res isn't gonna be true HD.. Much like the original SGS...
its not for me. If it was a real step up from the SGS2 id consider selling mine for it but the only real upgrade is ICS. Id rather wait till that comes out for the devs to play with i think.
Everything else bar the camera looks good but i couldn't justify (or afford) to upgrade if the camera is only 5 mega pixel when i have an 8 mega pixel camera on the SGSII.

I didn't think the kickstand would be for me until I started propping it up on my desk while doing work. It was easier to pick up phone calls via bluetooth while looking at it. I really want to see how the camera shots look and what kind of lens they are using. I think the camera bezel is huge and unnecessary but whatever.

There was a kickstand accessory for the View, and i wanna say the guy said there is one for the 3D too.
The demo from drdrewdown is awesome. This phone is totally badass.. you can completely shut 3d off if you like... they said display looks much better than the original EVO.
My only concern is battery life... but I htink I'll begetting this phone.
Yeah, whats up with the lack of a kickstand? BSOD mentioned it still has one, but I do not see it. He also mentioned NFC, but I've not seen that mentioned anywhere else yet either.

That's because of the higher resolution screen
BSOD stated the NFC but who knows if it's included in the chip but not enabled. Also I could care less for 3D since the only thing I would be able to play it back on is the Evo. At least now people won't ask you if you have an iPhone when they see that huge camera bezel in the back.
I can imagine people selling screen protectors for the back and the front.
I'll miss the kickstand a lot. I love propping up my phone since i keep it naked and want to minimize scratching the camera lens.
So does this have the adreno GPU?
The one thing that BSOD mentioned that I was really excited about was WiMax+LTE. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything about that mentioned during the liveblog on AC.
It's an awesome phone, no doubt about that, but I'm definitely not as excited about it as I was before. With the way things are going here in San Diego, it seems pretty much pointless to pick up a new phone that only has 3G/WiMax, as it doesn't look like we'll get WiMax anytime soon.

SOLD! I will be getting this day one! I was waiting to hear what the SIII is bringing to the table, but there is no way it will match MY desired features closer than the EVO 4G LTE. I really have no complaints from anything I've seen in these official announcements. This device is going to be released in Singapore tomorrow. Can't wait! They have live sets in the store. Played around with the UI. Dpi seems to be at 320. Everything seems bigger. Things seems quite snappy on one but another is lagging even when navigating thru the interface.. Having mixed feeling about this monster....

I believe that display units have different clock speed. I'm not sure about that though. Well, It is still a wonderful phone and I'm looking forward for your on hand review about that in time Thanks
Regardless, I think I am still going to take the plunge. Love device from sony though most of the time was disappointed by the performance.. Something keeps drawing me back to them.. I know it's conflicting but that's really how I feel. Probably getting it today. The white one. The black looks really plasticky. Stay tune for a short review once I get it today. Hopefully.

Also, considering the price tag of around 365 euro, it's cheap!! Excellent price tag, very affordable.

Hi All,
Might be useful for some. I bought my Redmi 3S from Mod Edit: Selling site link removed.
It comes with the Google suite preinstalled, so no messing around with ROMs or trying to sideload Google Play Store.
It was very reasonably priced at around £115 and was delivered within 3 weeks with no import duty to pay.
Good Points
Fantastic build quality and performance for the price
Decent camera
Amazing battery life
Not so Good Points
Fingerprint scanner was a little temperamental
Buttons not back lit
Problem setting UK as location
Design and Build Quality
The Redmi 3S takes the same form factor as the original Redmi 3. It's a fairly standard phone design with volume controls and power button on the right side, sim tray on the left side (dual sim or 1 sim + micro SD card)
At the top of the phone is the headphone jack, secondary mic and an infra red sensor - I was able to pair the phone with my Samsung TV but not my Freesat box. The bottom of the phone has the main mic and micro USB charging port.
The main body of the phone is made of aluminium, and at the back there are plastic sections at the top and bottom to improve phone signal. The top plastic section also has the camera and flash, with the fingerprint scanner just below, and the bottom plastic section has the speaker grille.
The phone feels robust to hold and definitely does not feel cheap.
Hardware & Performance
The Redmi 3S is a budget device but even still it has the relatively recent 8 core Snapdragon 430 processor and 3GB of RAM. These are specs that you are not going to get at this price point unless you buy from a Chinese retailer like Gearbest. At this price in the UK you'd get 2GB RAM and an older processor.
The performance was fine. Bear in mind this is not a flagship phone so if you are a hardcore mobile gamer then this is probably going to struggle but for myself in daily usage I had no issues at all.
Software
This runs Android 6.0.1, but features Xiaomi's MIUI 8 overlay.
Some people may not get to grips with this as it gives a more 'iPhone' feel than standard Android, your apps are installed directly to the homescreen and not put in the 'app drawer' so you'll need to make a lot of folders to group similar apps together.
One of the things that irritated me when I set the phone up was that you could not pick the UK as a 'locale' but as far as I can work out this is only for the Time Zone, and I picked Morocco which runs the same as GMT anyway.
There are a lot of built in features in MIUI which is great if you're a bit of a geek like me who enjoys fiddling with things, but if you don't then it works fine left alone
One of the good features for me was Child Mode, I could select a bunch of games and You Tube Kids app and set the phone so it only allowed access to these, so I could happily let my 5 year old free on the phone during a long car journey. It needs your password or fingerprint to revert the phone to 'normal' mode.
Camera
The camera was pretty good actually. For some reason it was only set to 'medium' quality by default, but when I put it into 'high' quality mode I was happy enough with the results. The photos were not as good as my old Honor 7 but again that phone was twice as much as the Redmi.
To put it into perspective, I've done a photo calendar as an Xmas gift and the photos from the Redmi look absolutely fine on this.
The Video camera wasn't the best to be honest, the clips takes looked decent enough but the sound quality was definitely not great.
Battery
The Redmi 3S has a massive 4100mAh battery which is just huuuuuuge, and it showed. In my daily usage, which is about 30 mins calls, a couple of hours browsing and about an hour streaming bluetooth audio I got by on about half an hour charging a day! I think there would be very few people that use a phone that much that would require them to charge this before bed time.
Other points
GPS was fine, I used Android Auto to pair this to my car and the GPS was quick to lock on and accurate with my location and directions.
The Bluetooth was fine for music and calls.
The screen is only 5 inches which is nice and compact, and although this is a 720 resolution screen it looked fine to me.
4G coverage - please bear in mind that this does not have Band 20/800 MHz, so if you are in the UK and on O2/Tesco/GiffGaff etc you won't be able to get 4G and will have to make do with 3G. Other networks will work fine with 4G, I'm on Vodafone and had no problems.
So I hope this has been useful to some of you. I know Xiaomi have just released the Redmi 4 but this has a 1080 screen so the battery is not likely to last as long, and the other specs seem broadly the same.

I keep reading in all tech news about how the Galaxy Note 8 will miss the "Game Changing" fingerprint scanner under the display (example article link below). I don't get it. And here's why:
A fingerprint scanner is a mean to unlock your phone. It's not an actual feature you use. It's not something that will give you a better experience when you actually use your phone. For example, if you prefer the iris scanner, or you don't even lock your phone, that's it. You won't even be using it. And you will not be missing on anything since it's not a feature based on usage experience. It's not even something that should be advertise as a "game changing" feature. It doesn't change anything.
There are way more important game changing feature that the Note 8 could have:
- Dual Speakers for better hearing experience when sharing music with your friends, or just listening to music when working or chilling, especially when you do not want to use headphones. Dual Speakers means stereo music experience. This is a true improvement.
- 4K Display would mean better VR experience without the screen door effect. Now that's an improvement I kept advertising in previous threads already.
- Dual Camera or even Stereoscopic Cameras for optical zoom and 3D shooting when needed. And even 180 degree 3D camera. Now that's "game changing". It gives you the option, if you wish so, to shoot in 3D or in 180 degree. It's something more you can do with your phone. It's a new feature.
But for some reason way beyond me, the whole tech media prefers to focus on a "Fingerprint scanner under the display"...
----------- One could argue that "Yeah but a fingerprint scanner under the display is also an improvement".
It would be naive to think so. Because it is not. A Fingerprint scanner under a display doesn't improve in anyways your experience when unlocking your phone. Let me explain:
There are no technical differences between unlocking your phone by pressing a home button with integrated fingerprint scanner or pressing an area of the display with a fingerprint sensor under it. For you it's the exact same gesture, the same "unlocking experience". You put your finger in a specific area, and the phone unlock.
In fact, it doesn't even make a technical difference if the sensor is under a home button, under a display, under a speaker, on the back of the phone, under the camera, on the side of the phone, on the top bottom left, very little to the right, yes right there, etc... You still have to put your finger on that area for the phone to unlock.
An improvement would be "The Phone Unlocks Wherever you Press on the Display". Ok. Now that would be an improvement I would accept to argue against. "Hey, wherever I touch my phone, it unlocks immediately". Now yes. This is an improved experience. I still wouldn't care for it, but i would accept it as an improvement.
But tech is not there yet. And you, pressing a specific area under a display or anywhere else, doesn't make any difference and is NOT Game Changing.

I could careless about finger print at the back, its bad but I will use the Iris scanner Or pattern its not a huge deal when you find alternative. I also do not care about 6 of RAM That much unless samsung figures out how to take advantage of it. I also do not care for 3300 Mah battery since the new processors are reducing power consumption and s8 plus taught us a lesson about lower mah with larger screen on time.
What I would love to see:
- Better battery life (6 Hours Minmum even on Full HD At least!)
- New S Pen features That are innovative
- Faster
- that it doesn't explode or suffer in water resistance test
- that it comes with 128 gb sd card gift
- That bixby some how interacts with the S Pen.
- The the S Pen got the ability to read Text for me.
Other Wise I am not really complaining no thing to complain in the Note 8 it looks almost perfect (ignore finger print that has an alternative or 4k because it drains the battery). as for Dual Horizontal camera samsung must have a reason for this. 4k sucks because VR Is pointless for me at moment, it will increase the battery and display resolution causing cost problems and battery drain for the back I don't care how pretty or ugly it is. it can't be any worse than the Note 5.
What I am loving so far :
- The fact it supports SD Cards. I am buying 200 GB SD Card with the 64 GB Model giving me a total of 230 GB Of Storage (because sd card will be 180 GB total and the 64 gb model will need about 10 GB Of storage for the Stock ROM). Pretty enough for me!
- The fact the screen is Huge and Bezeless Perfect to write on using the S Pen!
I am waiting until samsung surprises me with the Software features of the Note 8.

Ive long wanted to see front firing speakers in samsung devcies...would be awesome.
Now that apple sort of does it samsung should really step up.
I prefer the fingerprint sensor on the back ever since my nexus 6p but not up by the camera like on my s8 plus...its not bad but not ideal either
I didnt like the front sensors on my s6, s7 edge and note 7 because you had to press to turn the screen on then unlock which is stupid.
