[Q] WiFi connectivity help...

Bought my gtablet a few weeks back when it was on woot and have loved it so far. Did the Clockwork/TNT Lite setup, and have added a few games and apps...
I'm not sure if it is an app I installed or something else, but right now it will connect to WiFi as always, but the internet doesn't work. Other devices using the same access points connect and work perfectly, just my gtablet is failing. It goes through what appears to be a normal connect and gets an IP without any failure and shows connected, but none of the news, marketplace, or web browser apps are able to connect to the internet.
Any advice to trouble shoot network connectivity? I had recently installed LauncherPro and was working on installing Titanium Backup Pro, (which I either didn't actually download and was just emailed a key, or it never installed because I can't find it anywhere...)
Thanks!
Chris
I'm having the same problem with the ad-hoc wifi connection to WMwifirouter. The gtab shows it is connected with an IP, but no internet traffic will pass. That same ad-hoc wifi connection works with other winXP laptops.
However, wifi connections to my two other wifi router works fine.
I'm on stock 3389 with tnt enhancement pack.
Adhoc problem sounds gateway related.... the former issue... id start with a wipe.

[Q] WIFI connection stops transfering data

Hi, is anyone has the same problem? When I'm connected at home to my Tenda router (WIFI b/g/n) after cca 30 min. my phone WIFI stops sending and recieving data, Skype is offline, etc... but WIFI in phone is stil switched on. After I switch WIFI off and back on (on my Samsung, not on my router), everything works good for a while and after cca 30 min. is situation the same. Is there in Samsung any WIFI sleep mode or something like that? Or some settings, which is not visible? Any other suggestions? Sorry for my poor English. Thanx in advance.
I'm having the same problem. But I did a factory reset and it works fine afterward.
And just few hours ago, I encountered this problem again. What did to get this error was, I pressed "on samsungapps" and it failed to update and thus results wifi connection stopping. What about you? Also my Kies air is not working.
are you guys sure you have wifi sleep policy set correctly? just to be sure, settings, wireless, wifi, menu button, advanced, wifi sleep policy to NEVER.
Yes. And also even if i manually disconnect and reconnect the wifi back. The data still doesn't come in. It is stated there as connected but no data at all.
Somehow Wifi keeps searching every few seconds, even thought it's connected.
This is bound to cost in battery life too.
I have reseted router to default settings, disabled n mode, disabled security (only mac filtering is on), disabled all unnecessary features and PROBLEM IS SOLVED !!! Thanx God Tomorrow I will experiment with router settings to know, what was causing this error ;-)
Well at least u're connected, I'm facing the same problem as the thread starter. No data flow at all. Browser showing me offline msg. I had the same problem on the 1st day with the phone after I woke up. previously playing with most of the default aps. So i'm not sure what went wrong, did a factory reset and it works fine.
Until, few hours ago, I tried my kies air which didn't work. Browser couldnt load the address given. And I thought i had an outdated kies air, so i went to click on samsungapps, which failed to update me. At that point the wifi is still working, i leave my phone for about 30 mins, and when i came back. The same problem which happened on the 1st day came back. I was hoping to find an answer here so I didnt do the factory reset it. On another note, the phone wifi works after restart, but wouldn't last.
Edit: The wifi works after i resetted my modem to default. oh well. at least that solved it.

Hi,
Did you find out what setting was causing the connection issue? I also have this problem with my Tenda router. I thought it might be the wireless N, but disabling that doesn't fix it. I have a wireless distribution system set up with other tenda routers so didn't want to disable all the settings to troubleshoot if i can help it!
Thanks

I have the same problem, my router is N and the conection between SGS2 and my router is bad. Any idea?
Same problem here, I'm running WZR-AGL300NH in access point connected to my Ubuntu Server. Everything else works in the house just fine but SG2 stops transmitting data after a while.
I recently upgraded to KF1 firmware (and unknowingly wiped out whole phone, being on the bleeding edge and that didn't seem to help.
I would very much appreciate all tips because this problem is very annoying!
Additional Info:
- Buffalo is running latest firmware
- Authentication WPA2-PSK
- Encryption AES

Same symptoms here. Cisco DDR2200. WPA2 PSK. Haven't tried fiddling with the router yet.
This seems to be a common problem. Anyone knows of a definitive fix?
Bump...I have the same problem and the issue persists even after i reset the phone
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Glad I found this, thought it was the ROM I had flashed to the phone (which is VillainROM)
I keep losing connection from my phone via wifi like everyone else in this thread
edit: I've just assigned my phone an IP address via my routers settings and I can connect to the net again
Also when it wasn't working, I couldn't ping the phone. When I assigned the IP just now I still couldn't ping it.
When I did a tracert to it, I could get to it when the IP was assigned and when it wasn't.
I have no removed the assigned IP for the phone from the router. Wifi connection is still working after disconnecting/reconnecting wifi on the phone.
I can also now ping the phone, where as before it was getting timeouts.
Also when it wasn't working the first time when I did a tracert it was showing up as HPsomething (didn't make note of the numbers)
this time when it is working it's just showing up as the IP address when doing a tracert.
Another update:
Just checked my printer, it has an IP address manually set on it, which at one stage when the phone wasn't working for internet it had the same IP as the printer, hence when tracert'ing it I was going to the printer instead of the phone and getting the HP etc back.
When it wasn't working at that time and looking at my routers DHCP list, it had the MAC Address of the phone against the IP that the printer has....
So I've got some issues with how my own network is setup ^_^ which looks like is causing me grief.
So the issue is with DHCP? Setting a static IP fixes it? I'll have to try, but I doubt this is a problem with the network, as all my other devices use DHCP without this problem.
I have the exact same problem!!
It's really annoying.
i was having problems with wifi too.. it keeps scanning and checking, etc, signal dropping for no reason..
fixed mine..well for me it worked
backup ur phone ( i dont take responsibility if ur phone catches fire or dies or chases u around )
u need to be rooted
download FXR WiFi fix and rescue from market
and just run the app.
now my wifi signal stays constant speed and i get good speeds
alternatively try
WiFi Fixer
both of them will cause high battery usage..i think since it keeps the signal at maximum.. so only enable wireless when i need it or use juice defender or green power.
greenpower seems great. using this at the moment

Is wifi in webOS supposed to be buggy as well?

So I know wifi in android is buggy, this isn't a question about that.
My Touchpad won't connect to my wireless network at work. (in webOS or android) It always fails the IP configuration part. My android phone connects fine, and my laptop, and my iPad.
Kind of kills the usefulness of the tablet for me. Wondering if I should call up HP before my 90days are up.
Thanks in advance
I have had no issues with webOS 3.0.2 or 3.0.4 at work or home (and I run a number of access points at both locations). Always connects by itself everytime. Too early to tell with 3.0.5 but no issues so far.
Have you tried other routers? It could be just some issue with your router. Have you tried to manually assign an IP, I know you can in android.

It connects to my home network fine, just not the work one. Tried manually assigning an IP and that didn't work in either OS. Going to install the update to webOS and see if that fixes things.
As poster above mentioned, corporate/work networks seem to be the only thing that webOS MIGHT not play well with occasionally. I've gotten it to successfully connect to my work's 802.1x EAP network. It actually worked quite well, but then sometimes it stumbles a bit before connecting.
For the most part though, webOS wifi works just fine. Of course, this is because HP dev'd it with the drivers they have, that we DONT have, and most likely will never have.
Wifi now connects on both OS's after updating webOS to 3.05
Lol go figure

It hasn't before for you? I'm curious about your experience.
The deal with Wifi in android is multi-faceted:
1. Accessing the wifi options sometimes crashes the thing, and you have to force close the settings app and try again.
2. With Wifi on, the wifi menu can be quite sluggish
3. A lot of times, it wont even scan for networks. It just says disconnected for ages, or will eventually scan, then try to connect, but never get past "Acquiring IP address".
4. A lot of times it will randomly lose its connection, yet still indicate that it's connected just fine. A toggling of the wifi usually fixes this, but also starts you at square 1 with attempting to connect to an AP. For some people, this process can be a nightmare.
5. Some people simply cannot connected to their secured network at all. Period.
Are you experiencing any of these issues still?

Before update:
never had any problems with wifi at all, except it just wouldn't connect to either of my two networks at work in either OS. Neither OS could get past the IP config stage. Tried manually assigning IPs in both OS's but that accomplished nothing. Home 5ghz network zero issues.
After update:
Instant connection, no issues.

[Q] Can't connect to 802.1x WiFi on Jellybean

Hello,
So basically, after upgrading to Jellybean my tablet was running kinda slugging so from what I read, a hard reset may be in order. Before the reset, it was connecting fine to wifi at my corporate environment, it was just a little lagging. After the hard reset, I am unable to connect to 802.1x with PEAP authentication and MSCHAPv2. It just scans and scans, authenticating then scans again and finally with "avoided poor internet connection". Never the "authentication failed" or Unable to authenticate, just avoided poor internet connection. I am sitting next to an access point so I know its not poor.
I know that there is an option to disable (uncheck) the Avoid Poor Internet Connection in Jellybean because I am running a CyanogenMod 10 on my Evo and it connects to our corporate environment fine, so what else can I be looking for? I know that there is a bug listed in the AOSP bug tracking site (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34212) and there is a supposed patch already implemented, is it possible that Asus did not patch this?
I really need to get this tablet to connect to my corporate environment as I am part of the team that is working on implementing VDI and need it to connect to our wireless. Any input is valuable.
Thanks

PPTP VPN Connects but then stalls after loading first webpage

I'm having an issue with the PPTP VPN client on CM10. I am fairly new to custom roms, but I managed to install CM10 and it appears to be fairly stable thus far.
However, I am having an odd issue with the PPTP VPN. While I can connect to my PPTP server over wifi on another network, it starts to hang immediately after I start trying to use internet. I tested a few things out.
First, I know the VPN server is working since I can connect to it and use it fine on any of my windows or ubuntu or idevices.
Second, it appears the the client is initially forwarding traffic properly as the first webpage I try to load is "whatismyipaddress.com" and it correctly tells me that I am not getting the ip of the VPN server.
However, it will always immediately stall and the load bar on the webpage will freeze and I no more internet activity will occur. I never disconnect from the server.
Third, I also opened up a terminal and tried to ping a page (google.com) and what I will see that it successfully completes an initial ping, but then again freezes.
I also tried booting into Safe Mode to see if it was any of the apps that were causing interference, but it still occurs.
So, my question is, has anyone experienced similar behavior? Or is there any suggestions as to how to proceed? I am thinking it may not be a serious issue since it does connect and initially forward traffic properly. It just stalls for some reason.
Thanks for any suggestions or advice.
