[Q] Ice cream for X10 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Short question: Will it ever be possible to get ice cream for the X10? Or will it just be too much to run it without lag etc.
grtz,
A_U
EDIT:
No need for an answer anymore, I already know doomlord started a development thread

i am also looking for answer..!!!!!!!

probably. It was said that devices that could run gingerbread can theoretically run ice cream sandwich.

I know we won't get the update from SE itself, but I doubted whether we would be able to get it from FreeXperia team (cm) or just another custom rom.

Yes, they are the only ray of hope. I can't stop cursing SE for they just dumped x10. They launched ray, arc, neo, play.... No issues, but they still talk of mini, mini pro..... Yet x10 remains in darkness!

yes, we have old phone now...
Anyway, XDA dev are here, we're lucky!

My X10 is nearly 2 years old, but with DooMLoRDs Kernel fresh as right out of the factory
Maybe 4.0 can keep it young and alive another year

I can see us getting some hybrid roms with ICS features but since we don't even have any 2.3.4 roms yet I doubt anyone will/can do a full port.

We even have 2.3.7 (Cm7) so..

ICS is really optimized for HD Displays (Something we don't have).
I doubt a FULL, 100% complete Port will come.

I believe the idea behind ICS was a new single open source OS that will run on everything from small phones to large tablets and everything in between.

Yes, that was the idea, but I don't see support for 2010 phones.

I won't even receive the X10i that I bought until Friday but considering they started with 1.6 and have 2.3.7 now, I am eminently certain I will soon be running 4.0.1 on mine.

well who knows we want some FXP magic!

The devs are currently in trouble solving issues about the porting. Hope they get around it soon.

Gingerbread on X10. Officially.

Hey guys I know everyone's excited about this but there's one bad side to it. This thing may be unrootable but I'm sure the geniuses here will crack it. But unfortunately the bootloader will now be even harder to crack. And most countries won't get the update so you'll have to get the global update from here which isn't a problem for me. But if we root Xperia arc we can most likely root our new x10. We need a preview so we can work on this
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Simple answer: Gingerbread 2.3.3 on X10 is built upon the same thing as Arc... if u can root Arc, u can root X10... simple.... Richard on the SEBlog already made it very clear that they are building 2.3.3 for X10 based on what they have for Arc.... I think by then, bootloader cracking should be pretty much out of the picture cos everyone will update to gingerbread.... and then most of their mobile contracts would be up in prob a few more months and they would upgrade to a 2.4 device....
But we cannot lose root either way. I want this but they have to lift the frames per second cap limit and enable 16 million colors then root or not I'm going to it because that's all what kernels will do anyways so its awesome
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
I've tried rooting a preview version of the Arc using SuperOneClick but it failed so I hope the devs can get root on 2.3.x.
Video coming soon.

I believe that the current rooting methods used on the X10 do not work on Android 2.2.1 or newer firmware. In Android Source code, Google has patch the security hole that allowed for these to work.

dont worry guys.... all that we need are the kernel sources... leave the rest to Bin4ry, J and the team...
Don't worry we'll get this down. The only gingerbread rooted so far is nexus s. We need to know how they did it. Otherwise we can always use a custom rom from here

Can you all stop posting this the whole planet knows it now im tired of this in all sections theres like 20thread about this ****ing gingerbread --
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
we have 6 months or so until release, so I'm sure the experts have more than enough tine to figure it out
Lol yep and everyone needs to update to generic firmware. If you get generic you'll be the first to have gingerbread when it releases. That is how I got the official Sony Ericsson dual touch update.

Who is front lining the hardware department, will it be Samsung or have google opted to market another brand company like Sony?
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Jelly Bean will be a tablet OS like Honeycomb :/
Like, for honeycomb they shifted to Motorola [XOOM], for this too, i dont think Samsung's gonna be ''the one'', still no updte on that.
It will basically run on tablets AND PC's. Dual Boot being the main feature; AndroidOS and Chrome OS. So expect it to be running on really powerful tabs/PC's/maybe even quadcore phones.

Nothing for our small & cool X10 Mini?
We dint even get froyo officially, lol. If Google releases jelly beans code, maybe the devs wwill make a rom for us. But Google did not release source codes for honeycomb (not until ics's code was released) so they might not release it for jelly bean, too.

In a month, members will be posting they need jelly beans to eat and spam will be flooding the forum.
before something like that happens, stickie a notice. (mods, admin).
well, jb seems far from our phones, kinda like honeycomb.
Wow, so fast!
But i think right now i am more than happy to be waiting out for a final ICS rom. The current paul-xxx rom on cm9 running ICS is really smooth, i think the final version of that rom is gonna be legendary.
Really exciting times on android as well as for the mini pro users too !!
too fast, problably as said here is for tablet and not for smartphone, that why in 2Q
It was the same with 2.3 an 3.0 there were just 3 monzh between them
And ICS was supposed to merge tablets and smartphones...
woaa its too fast
i didnot use ICS in my ARC S
how could google do this :\
why they didnot release ics for my current phone

Google release ICS, the problem are manufactured OEM that are not able to personalize ICS for all the hardware, in your case Sony.
We have only 2 possibility:
Wait OEM update and need some time, and is not secure your phone is updated
Use a custom rom via XDA
I really dont like thif fu***** ics and will hate jelly bean

If it can be modded to minis and bring benefits, why not try?
However I think that's too little time between the android's OS. And that restriction from OEMs, Sony in my case, almost made me regret having bought my mini, thank God XDA exists!
The host for jellybean is HTC and google..i think

Question: Is there any project bring ICS to Xperia S?

Question: are there any project brings ICS to Xperia S?
I dont see any project such as CM9 for ICS XPS
Thanks
Hy, for the moment we can root the phone but Doom have see a bug in bootloader and we can't boot a custom kernel with this bug.
If i'm not wrong...

The guys over at motorola milestone has released cm9 for it. The camera is working as well. The milestone uses an encrypted locked bootloader and stock kernel. It still can be done by some talented devs like DoomLord (provided he gets his XS).
Yeah! Custom roms can be made without unlock bootloader! My old MS running quite smooth with ICS CM9 rom! Kabaldan is a great devs!
Arc s and xperia play have a cyanogenmod stable did to see if dev's can port this. But Doomlord don't make rom if i have a good memory.

The XPS is a completely different device people. We'll need some proprietaries to get ICS running properly, and we still can't boot anything without Sony fixing the bootloader bug. It's not the same problem as the Droid 1/2/X/etc, completely different story here. So now we wait for a fixed bootloader - and for Sony's official ICS that's likely to go live early/mid May. Then Doomlord and the FreeXperia people can port something (and I'm ready/willing to help them). But now it's just no use, because we'll hardly get anything at least nearly usable in a month.
TL;DR Porting ICS right now will take more time and effort than waiting for official ICS to drop mid May and starting then.
AFAIK, Bin4ry and someone else are playing around with CM9 development for the handset, as far as I know.

They sure are, but we won't know how it really works until we can test it on devices and that we can't do without the bootloader fix.

ICS killing development

HI,
i just wanted to share my thoughts on the lack of development that i'm noticing these days. When i bought a XMP, i was seeing a lot of mods and development happening in the XMP forum. New GB Roms/updated ROMS every week. Increasing performance week by week, Then sony released ICS, buggy and slow. All devs soon started raping it, but nothing great happened (apart from kamarush's minicms, which is still not very stable, also has camera recording stuttering). I've seen and used ROM's that came out such as RealICS, NeroICS, ICEHybrom.. all lacking performance, ROM's like real ICS does have issues with XMP (camera flash light not working properly), we also lost a good dev 'bbooff' due to idiotic members demanding like they paid a million $ to him to develop for XMP. The thing is most dev's are not devs, they are just modders. There are flaws in sony's ICS, unless you know how to debug and re-code and fix the actual problem, there is no point in simply putting all the optimization scripts and tweaks in the ROM. Most of the so called devs are doing the above. The only exception is kamarush and expacer, though they also have their limitations. GB development is halted! why?
I'd request the real dev's (kamarush & expacer) to try to fix the issues in sony ICS and the other modders to work on GB versions.
Plz do share your thoughts on my thoughts.
They both are now busy with JB. Maybe its can be really better then ICS. Just give them time and we will see how good is JB on our phones

I too hope JB version to be better than ICS. But i am not sure if they can make all the features work properly, such as Xloud, FM and bravia. Those are sony proprietary stuff, if the ICS version files are compatible, then it'd be great. but i highly doubt so. Anyhow, lets hope for the best.

Cyanogen HDMI

Ehm I know I am a bit dumb but I can seem to understand what are the differences between cyanogen 7.2 and 9.1 and what is worse I don't understand if it supports HDMI on my Neo. Can anyone shed some light? ... maybe I should have drunk less yesterday
CM7.2 is based on Gingerbread, whilst CM9 (now CM9.1) is based on Ice Cream Sandwich. As far as HDMI goes, no ROM's that aren't Stock or Stock-based have it working as Sony hasn't released the HDMI sources.

Think there is one cm7 with it never seen thread for months was old Achotjan
I may be wrong like but anyway not really possible on custom ROMs to much try an fail
Use a stock ROM if you need this feature
Personly its pretty bad compares different phones /tabs I near cooked my neo by charging and HDMI out same time
Sent from my Xperia neo using xda premium
Achotjan's Rom has it working(though i never tested it myself). A search should turn it up. He also said a while back that he would work on a CM9 version. May or may not still be happening.

It's very difficult to get HDMI on non stock based ROMS because Sony doesn't release sources. So it's highly unlikely we will ever see it.
