Netflix - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just updated to the newest version of Netflix and it is not working anymore.
I just have the big red screen and a waiting cursor that just stays.
when I go back to the previous version of Netflix through Titanium back-up everything works again.
I have a 7500 wifi and runnning in Paris Rom and the latest pershoot Kernel.
Any one experiance the same problem?

Ditto, same problem, only mine is a rooted stock rom.

Same issue here.

Same problem, rebooted and all is now good.

Do you mean that you have the new netflix installed, rebooted and it worked?
This does not work for me.

Install it again, clear all the app's data, then uninstall and grab the new version from the market again. This worked for me.

I tried that one also but no luck. I went back to the old version and that works fine....

I just tried and had no issues. I did the update yesterday and hadn't tried it until I saw this thread. Works great and I noticed the task bar acts the same hiding itself like when watching YouTube video!
Try uninstalling, reboot and clear dalvik and then install from market.

Yeah I'm still stuck in this boat as well. I've also tried clearing data, restarting, then installing again, with no success.

I updated, the app would not start, just a black screen. I uninstalled the app, went to market, reinstalled, powered down, turned back on and have the new Netflix compatible with tablets. It is nice to not have the grey touchwiz bar when watching now. Stock.

Did uninstall/install, wiped data, reboot.... still new Netflix is sitting on a first "logging" screen endlessly.
May be this is have something to do with custom, rooted ROM? Previous version is doing just fine.

For me the same. I have in Paris 4 and the newest Pershoot.
But for the moment I just use the old version.

A new version is on the Market.... Version 1.5.1 build 367. . October 19th, 2011 ... Fixed incompatability with Cyanogen Mod 7.
The one yesterday was build 360...... Still doesn't work for me.... Anybody sucessful with this one?

I am having the same issue, In Paris V4 mod. Worked on none moded OS.

Same problem for me. Tried uninstalling rebooted, wiped dalvic and still stuck on red logo screen. Running latest Task650 v7.2 with pershoots latest oc kernel. Sad no Hulu now no Netflix
Edit: Reverted back to my rooted stock with pershoots latest oc kernel and Netflix is now working again Looks like I'll be sticking around my stock rom for a bit till this is sorted out.

Looks like its not In Paris V4 as I contacted a few people and they have the latest version of Netflix and its working for them. I'm going to go through some of my apps and try to remove them to see if anything helps...

Hey you guys. This has nothing to do with any of my roms. I am running the latest netflix with no issues whatsoever. This is an issue with the app itself or the user not attempting to clear data and cache for the app, or something that i really have no clue about. I'm going to do my best to look into this issue but I'm not so sure I will be able to find the cause considering I can't replicate the issue.

What other roms do you guys have installed, I only have DesktopUA_In_ParisV4_Theme_HTC.

But the latest version does not work. When I go back to the old netflix I have no problem.
I'm on paris v4 and latest pershoot. This setup is the best you can have (my opinion) so i just stick with the old netflix

Das Bamf 2.1 and Google Music

I flashed my first ROM last night, and tried to play music using Google Music Beta, which I downloaded from the market. When I try to play the music, the app keeps on force closing. I tried reinstalling the app, tried reflashing the rom, but nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated.
Did you perform a full wipe before flashing the rom? I'm running 2.1 (remix) as well using mr2.5 and the kernel that came packed with BAMF 2.1. Having no issues using google music beta. Don't have much in the way of advice, just chiming in to help you narrow down where your issue is coming from (namely that the rom itself shouldn't be the issue). Might want to verify the md5, never know when you might snag a bunk download.

Yes, I performed a full wipe before flashing the ROM, assuming that means data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats...did that three times. Not sure if I am supposed to do it more. Also checked the md5, downloaded and flashed it twice more after the first time, and still can't get it to work.
Hrm, afraid I don't have much else to suggest outside of verifying settings within the music app itself. As I said, was primarily just letting you know the rom itself shouldn't be the issue. Sorry I cant be of more assistance . Might try a different rom and see if the issue persists, but if you're liking the 2.1 thats far from an actual solution even if it does solve the problem.

I was having the same problem (just 20 minutes ago). The app would load, the albums and tracks would appear, and then when I went to play one of them it would force close. What I did to correct the problem was to to reflash 2.1 in recovery without wiping. I let in reboot and now its working fine.
I am running bamf 2.0 - 5 and it works for me.
Although it Sometimes makes my phones signal drop to 1x so maybe flash a new radio?

Tried this, then even flashed the new ROM RC1 and RC2, and still am unable to get it working. Any help is appreciated. I just keep on getting the same issue, Error playing requested track. And then when I go to check the app data, I see the numbers going in and out, flickering, and have to force stop and then uninstall.

ATM, I am using Lighting Rom 3.3.1, which is a Froyo ROM, but I might try one of the other Gingerbread ROM's available. But I really did love that DasBamf ROM, and the issue seems to be amongst just a few of us.
Bump.
Still having Google Music force close on Das BAMF RC3. Can anyone confirm that it works?
I can confirm I'm having the same issue with BAMF 2.1 stripped. I tried reloading the rom without wiping and fixing permissions and still getting a force close when I attempt to play anything from the cloud.

It is listed as a known issue in the RC3 thread, but they are having trouble reproducing it. I had the same problem with RC1, but after I wiped and loaded RC3, it appears to be working fine now. I only loaded it last night and tested a little this morning though, so problems could still develop. When I was having trouble with RC1, I tried the procedure of uninstalling Google Music, unmounting SD card, reinstalling Music, and then remounting SD card. It didn't work with RC1, but I did the same thing prior to testing Music on RC3. I have no idea if that made any difference either way, but it won't hurt to try.
Edit: The known issue could be referring to the HTC Music app, not the Google one, now that I look at it again.(Still reading through the entire RC3 thread)

It was indeed the HTC Music app that is the known issue. I posted in the thread, and I provided a logcat, so hopefully someone with more experience than me can understand it.
I'm having the same issue on DAS BAMF 2.1 on latest lean kernel.
I can get it working 99% of the time with wifi only. If i use 3g or 4g the app force closes. I've tried different kernels as well.
Anyone else able to confirm if this issue is wifi/3g/4g related? Im able to use the player only if I use wifi.
Maybe this can help the devs push out a patch in 2.2
I am using it right now on RC3

I'm also able to get it to work if i wirelessly tether to another thunderbolt. Only time I have an issue is if I'm using the 3g/4g radio.

I mean I can access music.google.com from the browser but that kind of defeats the purpose of the app/widget.
My friend who has the same rom isn't getting the issue.

Market app freezes phone

Hey guys,
I didn't know where to post this, so here it goes.
I'm having some trouble. I'm running CM nightly #115. I flashed the Google Apps package from here (the one for CyanogenMod 7). Now sometimes when I'm in the Android Market app, not only does it FC, but it freezes my phone so I have to reboot it.
Scrolling through the app details is what causes the freezes
I've tried CM 7.1 stable, several nightlies and MIUI, but it keeps happening!
I also tried cleaning cache, data and uninstalling updates, for the Market app. Nothing works!
Can you please help me?

Yes, tried that. Didn't work.
thought it was only me and that my phone was a lemon but i simply left all cm an miui aside after about a year of loyalty and went back to an asop rom (crysis 2.0) and it really not that bad going back.. i mean its not miui as far as customization and smoothness but its mad stable with absolutely no issues at all and i cant see myself going back to having "a perfect rom except ..... "..
Happens to me the same. I'm using NDT MIUI v10 and from what i noticed it happens only when i'm charging it from the USB port and at the same time browsing the market (just market).
Browsing the market without charging presents no issues. From what i've read around it has something to do with static electricity (might be wrong though) because i am not using the stock usb cable, but a Nokia one.
I've tested with various kernels, nothing seems to fix it. So far i got used not to use the market while the phone is plugged in.
If anyone has any explanation or even better, a fix, i'm interested in it.

Same problem here. Phone totally freezes when downloading and installing something from market while is plugged in. I have original usb cable and charger. It happens either when plugged to the laptop or to the wall charger.
Now running miui 1.2.16. previously I was running GalnetMIUI and with the last update this issue started going on randomly using market app. never happened before with cm7. I didn't try wiping data cuz I'm waiting to do so for the ics miui v4.
The weird thing is that it doesn't matter if the phone is charging or not.
Scrolling through the app details is what causes the freezes (this screen).
This must be a flaw with the Market app
I made a thread here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/39058-market-freezes-phone/
It looks like I'm not the only one experiencing this.
same here..on cm7..
no problem with old market..it looks like market 3.4.4 not liking cm7 based roms
back to stock rom for now..
The same problem here.flashed many kernel to get fix, and relashing rom, even up and downgrade miui, changing themes, but nothing help. I'll freeze on market when scrolling down.

Flash another older version.. till bugs gone. I also flashed another kernel.. i dont know if flashing another kernel would help, but it work for me, the bugs bunny is in the market waiting to freeze me when im on siyah 2.6, i flashed fluxi kernel, still the same, then flashed excell69 kernel.. seems like the bugs bunny has return back to disneyland. Im happy now.
But this is just for temporary, coz today there will be another version of miui will release, to flash new rom and hope this bunny will not appear again.

Adobe Flash 11 repeatedly updating

Google Play seems to pop up showing an update available for Adobe Flash 11 every single day at the moment. I've watched it download and install successfully several times now but it keeps coming back for another go. Is anyone else seeing this behaviour, or have a clue how to stop it?

Try to click on update and don`t close Google Play and don`t go any way from adobe flash player page on Google play. just click update and wait until there will be "open" option on google play.

Had the same problem. It 'jumped' back from version 11 to 10.9 all the time. I removed the old version completely, rebooted my defy, installed the latest version from the playstore and made a backup with Titanium backup for just in case. Since then no problems here.
I removed flashplayer.apk in stock rom.

netflix

7510 wifi US.
After data wiped and formated cache I odined the UK ICS 4.0.4.
Everything went perfect.
Did the initial setup and without anything else I installed Netflix from the market.
It plays 20 seconds and then video stop and then after another 10 seconds audio stops as well.
Uninstalled and reinstalled with cache deleted and such. Same result.
Wiped from recovery cache and dalvik. Same result.
Flashed again ICS with previous data and cache wiped. Same result.
Installed 1.7.1 (actual 1.8.1). Same result.
What to do next?

I can confirm the same behavior. About 20 seconds of play, then video stop, then audio stop.
Glad I'm not alone, not glad about the problem. Netflix is a big part of my tab usage.

Same problem, I almost went back to HC because Netflix is one of my major use cases.
But here's a work-around (which I found in some other ICS/JB thread on this forum that I can't remember.
So the credit goes to the unknown soldier :angel
- Log into Netflix with your browser
- Click "Your Account"
- Select "Manage Video Quality" under "Instant Watching"
- Check "Better quality (up to 0.7 GB per hour)"
This has worked for me flawlessly and I can't tell any difference in video quality on my GTab.
Good enough for me until somone figures out what the real problem is, being it ICS or the Netflix App.

I fixed my Netflix freezing issue by going into my account on the Netflix site and knocking the video quality down to "better." thats all
Thanks for the tips, it works for me. I primarily use my tab to watch Netflix, not much of doing anything else. The last several days were quite frustrated. Now, I can watch movie again, even though with lower quality. Hopefully Netflix will fix it soon. Or I will cancel my subscription.
Another caveat of this problem I've discovered; On a rooted stock ICS, pressing home after Netflix freezes throws a, "shell has been granted superuser permissions" message.
There may be more of an underlying problem here that most of you are just sweeping right under the rug.
Of course, now that I'm trying to pull a logcat out of it Netflix starts to behave.

Pandora and CM10

I have jokersax CM10 ROM. Did a clean install (full wipe), etc. At first everything seemed to be working fine, with the exception of SMS and the camcorder - and the camera/gallery is/was really flakey, but did work. However, the past week or so I have not been able to get Pandora to play, at all. It will load a song, then start loading the next, and so on, and never actually play any. I uninstalled Pandora and reinstalled it hoping that would help, but nothing.
Has anyone else experienced this, and anyone got a fix?
Thanks,
Mike
This is happening to me as well. I guess its a bug. Pandora worked for me until before the recent updates were made. I ended installing an alternative such as the Jango radio app. You might have to roll back to CM9 or GB to use it.

Same thing was happening to me. What was weird was that it would play fine on Wi-Fi but not on 3g. That was on the second release of jelly bean, and now I'm on the newest one, and everything works fine.
I should also mention that was on the older Pandora before the update that was 6 days ago.

Well, I got 1.6 installed, but it wouldn't launch. Just crashed every time I tried to launch it. Then, a few minutes later, it auto-updated to 1.7 (which, of course, still does what it was doing).
Since a new update to CM10 was put out last night, I think I will try it out and see if, by chance, this issue (and hoepfully a few other minor ones) has been resolved.
Good news! Pandora 1.6 is working like normal on the very latest CM10 build (last night).
Thanks na7q!
