[Q] Help!! New phone. Does not charge at all. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I just received my Galaxy S2 I9100. As the instructions suggested, I plugged in the charger before powering up the device. Its almost 2.5 hrs of charging and I see the charging battery icon remains at 0. I dont see it charging at all. In addition to that, I sense there is quite some heat generated near the camera LED area during charging.
Please advise if there is any work around or should I return this device.
Please help!

If OOB doesn´t work as it should, i always send it to RMA.

[Q] Wierd!! Mine has been charging while on

Normally my galaxy 10.1 p7510 will charge very slowly while turned on and has the red x sign over the battery sign. But in the last week iI have had it turned on and it has been charging without the red x and at an incredible speed. Im talking from 10% to 100% in just a few hours. It is stock and not rooted. It stopped and went back to normal for a few days and today is doing it again. I cant explain it. Any ideas or explanations to explain this?
either your cable or wallcharger are broken. The device should only show the red cross if it is connected to a PC, which does not deliver enough amperage through the USB port. Used with the original wallcharger, you should never get the red cross through the battery and it should charge fairly quickly even when in use.

[Q] SGS3 (Samsung Galaxy S3) Charge Issues

Is anybody having issues with the charging of their SGS3?
It seems that my device charges as and when it wants. I wanted to find out how wide spread the issue is and the different cases in which it does not charge.
This could possibly help find some sort of temporary resolution.
My Galaxy note is extremely temperamental when it comes to charging. It doesn't seem to like any other cable than the one that came with it. I've been through several cables trying to find another that will charge it.
Some cables said they were charging the unit (and it the meter was going up) until I unplugged the cable to find the battery level drop from 100% to 5% in a second. With another cable, the handset said it was being charged, but the screen locked out and wouldn't recognise gestures. Others just wouldn't charge and the phone didn't even recognise them. It was all very odd.
In the end I gave up and just used the stock cable. It could be a Samsung thing?!?

Same for me on SGS2 (GT-I9100). Often it discharged so much, it was switched off by the battery's low-voltage-protection-circuit. Then the phone started again because it had 5V at the USB and tried charging, but couldn't because the battery was not able to power the phone until the charging process started, so I had a nice bootloop
I had to build a constant-current-circuit with a LM317 to charge the battery a bit until it could be charged by the phone again.
It seems like the only way of getting rid of this is by using the original charger..
(Would be great if Samsung could make their devices be able to run from usb-power only)

[Q] Weird battery and screen issues

Hey guys and gals
this is my first post here. although a lot here is about rooted devices with custom ROMs, I hope you can help me out - you sure have a lot of expertise here compared to many other forums.
For the past two days I've been running into some of the weirdest problems with my Galaxy S2. Before i go into detail, here is the summary:
1. Screen time-out doesn't work while device is not plugged to a charger or computer
2. Notification shows 100% charge for a very long time (hours after heavy usage)
3. Not sure if charging actually works
4. Booting up seems to fail when not connected to a charger
it started yesterday when I noticed the phone light up and say it was charging. The problem is it wasn't - it was in my pocket.
Then I noticed that the screen didn't time out. I changed the setting, nothing - it remained on. I could push the power to make the screen turn off and on again but it wouldn't time out itself.
The charging info went away... at some point. I left it to charge over night and in the morning it indeed showed 100% in the notification bar. The problem is it remained 100% for A LONG time. In the settings menu under the battery it says it has been running on batter for 0 secs and showed 100% charge. For hours... There were no info about any apps or function using the battery. that part was clear.
Then i discovered that the screen time out problem goes away while connecting the charger or via USB to a PC. Then it times out. As soon as i unplug the charger it never times out....
I'm actually not sure if the charging works. Indeed it shows charging but sometimes it magically reaches 100% rather quickly.
Because I suspected a battery fault I used another battery. let it drain completely and then tried to recharge. Can't - when booting it shows a battery icon with question mark and then goes to show that the battery is 100% charged. Then the question mark and then 100% again. Seems to be in some sort of loop.
I've done the factory reset, I had a new firmware installed via Odin just in case. The problem still remains.
Booting the device seems to be an issue and only work with charger or USB cable attached. Ot it will be in that "what battery" and "100% charge" cycle...
I've searched high and low today but couldn't find anyone with the same problem.
Have any of you an idea? Really down't want to get a new phone! Seems to be a very bad month going on because a few weeks ago I had really serious issues with my brand new hybrid camera which i have to buy ... again! sold it for parts for pocket money....
Any help would be really appreciated! thanks!
That's really strange....try getting out the battery, charge it to max va an external charger,or borrow a friend's Galaxy S2.Leave the phone withou battery for an hour. Then when you put it in,go to recovery, and "wipe battery stats"(Root it if it's not).See if that works.

How long have you had the phone? The usb flex cable has issues over time. A symptom of this is the charging when not connected to the charger.
If it is this issue the part is cheap (around 5$ I believe).

Battery weird - seems to be phone but no obvious hardware issue

I have a galaxy s2 and bought a new battery recently (samsung one) thinking it would solve an issue which I thought was my battery.
Its very hard to describe but will do my best (have checked other threads but nothing quite like this..):
The battery will always say charging when plugged in but will sometimes increase in charge and other times not. I can charge overnight sometimes and it will say charging 7% and in the morning be completely dead and will not even show the charging animation (I have fixed by using my girlfreinds phone to charge it a bit and then it will be fine for a bit).
I thought might be charger - but my girlfreinds s2 charges fine on it - her phone works fine on both batteries and charges both fine.
Seems to be something to do with my hardware and I thought it may be the charging port - but not sure as it does still say charging without having to wiggle or anything like that so that suggests not the port.
The other thing that suggests something other than the port is I have had a battery in my girlfriends phone with it on, then plug it in and it said charging 37%, take it out and put in my phone with it plugged in and turn the phone on and it will say charging 4%...
Does anyone have any ideas as to this? Any things to try?
Thanks heaps in advance!
Do a clean install of stock & test for a day or two, if you're already running stock skip straight to replacing the USB board/port. Given you've already replaced your battery, this is likely to be the cause of the issue. Search for KeithRoss39's guide in the General section; it's quick/easy/cheap (<AUD$10 for me) to do.

Won't turn on

I recently picked up this galaxy s6 edge from a friend that upgraded to a new phone. It won't turn on, neither to android recovery, nor to download mode nor the android. I charged it via wireless charging overnight and i tried for around an hour with a usb cable. What do i do?
same issue i am facing, i tried original charger, wireless charger and fast chargers from many different brands. but all failed. The device only gets warm/hot while charging and nothing happens. neither download mode nor recovery mode works. I am kind pf stuck without any solution, my device was used very rarely and its like an brand new device. Doesn't know what to do, if you find any solution then please let me know too. thanks in advance
Same problem. If I press power button very long, blue light comes on. Then it's stuck and stays like this until battery is flat. Battery charging is not possible: device heats up (tried USB and Qi), but battery doesn't take any charge.
So I opened the S6 and checked the battery directly. I can charge it directly with a lab power supply and when I plug it in and press power button, the blue notification light comes on again until battery is empty again. I can also see that only ICs get hot, but not the battery when plugging in USB.
So, it's definitely some hardware fault. I suspect power IC that is not able to power up the screen. But I don't know. I will investigate further but it looks difficult. However, I have seen many YouTube videos with same symptoms, but problem was always different than mine :/
Hi guys,
This thread is 2 months old, any of you managed to fix the problem?
I am having very similar problem. My phone was on a shelf for about a year and a half. Before now it was working perfectly. Now I can't charge it via USB or power adapter. When trying to power it up or get into download or recovery mode, nothing happens. Computer does not see it. Tried different cables, USB ports, power adapters..nothing.
The only thing that is happening to the phone is the battery logo appears when trying to charge it, though the green bar does not go over battery, only the empty grey battery with lightning icon in the middle. Also the screen does not go dark after a few seconds as it should and the red/blue LED does not turn on.
Is this the signal from the phone, that the battery is to deeply dischareged and cannot be charged again? I am googling all over the web and can't find anybody talking about what phone does in case of to low voltage on battery.
PS back does not seem to be bloated, USB port was working perfectly last time used
Please try to help, you are my last stop before opening the phone and start probing the poop out of motherboard to see what gave.
EDIT: something interesting happened just about an hour after my post. The battery suddenly started showing % of charge and the green bar started running, computer recognized the phone.. as everything should be.
My FIX: leave the phone pluged in and charging for about 3days and it will start working again.
My semi professional explenation of fix and problem: the phone has a ''backup or reserve'' battery. It is actually main battery but the last I think I read somewhere it is 20% of capacity, is reserved for phone exclusively for the clock and all other electronics that need power when switched off. Now these 20% probably were discharged due to laying around for almost 2 years.
It took me 3 days of charging to fill up these ''20%'' I guess. Probably because Lithium batteries are charged VERY slow at very start and end. This is safty procedure for ALL Li batteries.
If any expert can confirm my conclusion please do so, to help other people.
To answer partialy to my question: The phone tells you battery is ''deep'' discharged when you only see the charge icon without the green bar.
In the mean time I was writing this edit I came up to 4% battery and turned it on!
