[Q] SGS2 Firmware/Kernel Problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I have a huge Problem i think
Well, wanted to install the Galnet Miui on my SGS2, so i looked it up in the GalnetMiui-forum and found the guide for it.
I have (had) no experience and so i tired to root it. Somehow i managed to flash a new firmware on my phone and stupid as I was I did not write the original data down...
Now I have the wrong firmware (wrong kernel also) on my SGS2 (it still works though..) but I cant load the Galnet Miui or load ClockworkMod..
Is there any chance to find out what my original firmware (kernel) is?
I looked it up for 2 days now on the internet and did not really find anything useful..
All I found was this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1075278
http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9100.htm
I hope you can help me

Look in the intratech firmware thread in original android development, read the first post.

first of all, thanks for the fast answer
I've already read this threat but i dont know what firmware version I need.
I am from Germany, so I need a version with XX or XW.
But there are still a few of them to pick.
Can I pick one randomly?

Look for XW firmware with DBT regional code if your device is German.
edit: latest firmware XWKI4: http://www.multiupload.com/YS0ZU2PAEV
Look in the firmware thread for stock XWKI4 kernel

wow!! THANKS A LOT!! Yeeehaa
Now it works

[Q] confused

Hi Peeps
So a few months back the wife managed to get a Samsung S2 from Orange
I Rooted it and unlocked it Thanks Chainfire
She then a look around xda and said she would like the lighting rom please. So Thats what I did. 1.5
Now 3 months later and Daughter has a s2 as well.
Wife now wants hers to latest stock.
Thing is I don't have a clue about all the firmware numbers. I just get confused by all the latest xxs and kes w and what ever plus 2.3.3. and 2.3.4 etc etc etc. would some nice person please point me at the latest unbranded stuff for Samsung S2 I have read the brilliant posts and threads by infatech but that just makes it worse lol.
Please help
Others may wish to take issue with this, but as far as I can tell, there is little difference between XXKG5, XXKG6 and XXKG7.
XXKG6 marginally pre-dated 5 & 7, and 5 seems to be better regarded than 7. 6 Seems to be a semi-official test version.
I guess the advice would probably be XXKG5, but I use 6 and am perfectly content with it.
Thanks Gustopher.
and I can get XXKG5 or XXKG6 or XXKG7 for UK from???
You can pretty much flash most Stock ROM with their modem (baseband). You just need to try which is best for you.
The webversion of Check Fus 2.0
There you can download CLI or Windows version of Fus Downloader. For Windows version, you need to have .NET framework 4 installed.
You can download most stock firmware using the Fus Downloader.
Example:
Last modified:
2011-08-02
Latest firmware:
I9100XXKG5/I9100OXAKG5/I9100XXKG5/I9100XXKG5
Version:
Android 2.3.4
Model GT-I9100
Product code GT-I9100LKAXEO
HIDSWVER I9100XXKE2/I9100OXAKE2/I9100XXKE2/I9100XXKE2
Just unzip the file you download, then select the *.tar file under Phone in Odin, and flash.
t xxkg6 from this thread and just change the csc for uk which isa one the files under the xxkg6 section.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Forgot to mention, you can go to the Settings -> About Phone menu, and see what ROM+BASEBAND+KERNEL your daughter is using, then download that exact same rom. Which is probably better for you, since if one have problems, then they both have the exact same problems, and by association, THERE IS NO PROBLEMS... Just like Apple iPHONES.
I would go KG6 firmware and modem and drop back to KG3 if problems .

Why don't just wait for the official update?

Because he used a custom rom which means as you know kies will not work on the phone to get an official update and he wants to go back to stock or the latest stock he can get.

[Q] Which Firmware do I need?

Hello dear XDA community,
I used litening Rom now for a while and I think you all make a good job in this forum.
The problem is, I forgot to look which firmware I had before I flashed my device (idiot). Now I want to flash the stock firmware on my device but I dont know which one I need. Is there a way to find out, which Firmware I had before I flashed my device?
My friend bought the same device on the same day and the same market and he has now ( after the update) this firmware: XXKI1
Can I use the same one?
Regards,
Anil.
Dont worry i did the same thing when i first rooted my phone..Forgot to bloody back it up. Anyway click on the link and you will have a guide with firmware how to flash it and what regions there from.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
First, Thank you. Second: But how about the warranty. I mean if samsung see that the firmware is not that firmware which it should be, I will lost my warranty. And where is XXKI1 in the list? I cant find it.
first if you scroll down you can see in big bright red letters this announcement in the thread
All packages below this point have the old bootloader so you can safely reset the binary counter with a Jig.
so i will be honest i have not heard of KI2 firmware...how long ago did you buy your handset? what region are you from? take that all into consideration choose the area you are from and flash away.. and trust me as long as your on stock firmware and reset your counter with the jig you are fine..no worries nothing....so flash back to official use the jig and bam..and thats it your official and stocked again
Sorry I mean XWKI4. That was the firmware. You said I should look when I bought the product. Is that the build date, like in the stock rom list, because I cant find any other informations in the list that country and build date?

hi there!
i made the same mistake by flashing a new firmware on my sgs2 with odin and i was silly enough to not write down the version that was installed before.. now i have a fw with the telecom brand. that fw works fine so far but i want to have the original back if that is possible.
so i looked up ur link and found that i need a fw with the letters XX.
but there are a few fw's with XX
which one should i use?

[Q] Noob question about firmwares

Hi guys,
This may be an absolute stupid question about firmwares but I don't understand why some people are able to updated to 2.3.4 or even 2.3.5 whereas my O2 branded handset is so far behind and is only on 2.3.3 and KE7
Anyone know why and how these firmware gets rolled out to different phones/providers?
Different firmwares for different regions. You can always flash a firmware of different region which may be 2.3.5, when your country/carrier might not have the latest one available.
Like, I am in India, using KI4 2.3.5, which is an European ROM as my country doesn't have the latest ROM available yet, officially.

I'm afraid if you want to wait for official O2 updates via Kies then you'll be in for a long wait my friend.
If you want the latest and greatest firmwares then I would suggest you read the 1st 3 posts of Intratech's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278.
Then read them again and then read them again! It's not as complicated as some make out.
Then decide if you want to take the plunge and take control of your own updates using Odin. I was a total noob and did it and I now now flash the latest firmware as soon as the legend that is Intratech posts them.
You can also get rid of the O2 branding if you want to.
Alternatively you can get the latest O2 branded firmware from Intratech's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928 but that's so far behind it's almost embarassing.

Thanks for that, I used to have it updating via Odin but decided to go back to the Kies route to wait for the official upgrades. Silly move by me.
I'll update it to 2.3.5 tonight - thanks
It'll be like having a new phone coming from KE7.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Looking for an Official Rom... Please Help!!!

I have had my phone for 10 months and I have just started having hardware issues with it. There is a crackinling noise from the speaker during a call and now it says that my sim card is not inserted. i have established that these are 2 common faults with the early S2's so I want to send it off to be repaired before my warranty has run out. The problem I have is that I rooted the phone and I'm currently using Lightning 6.1 rom on it and want to revert it back to official carrier software but as Multiupload is currentl down i cant download the relevant rom from the thread in the development section.
As I am new i have to post my issue here, can anyone please supply me with the correct Official Orange UK Firmware. I made a note of the stock firmware which was on my phone before I changed it. --2.6.35.7-I9100xwke7-cl215725 [email protected]#2
So from what I understand i require a XWKE7 rom.
If anyone can help, either by uploading the rom for me or pointing me in the correct direction of a working download link I would be most greatful.
Cheers Guys

Try checkfus from the market as well.
It lets you quickly find what is the latest firmware from your carrier and then from the web site can download.
Check intratechs original carrier firmware thread and see if his links are working yet.
Good luck.

[Q] I'm Not 100% Sure witch stock I need.

Hello,
This is a fantastic site with very knowledgeable people. You are all fantastic (Please don't flame me for being a numpty)
My question is, I have a SG2 that I got from dialaphone in the uk. I understand that even though it's on O2 it's an unlocked rom (tried diffrent simcards) I've tried so many roms and such I was hoping to get back to stock for the official ICS update.
I've trawled through samfirmware and this site and google to try and find the correct stock rom/firmware I need but I;m getting confused by the different UK roms and firmwares on samfirmware.com
Can one of you fantastic folks please point me in the right direction of the official stock rom for my phone, preferentially gingerbread. If it is an older version that would be cool too as I could then easily update via Kies.
Thanks lots in advance,
Henshu
By the way, sorry for the spelling.
