I like the Idea of HTC Scrybe very very much, not last because of the much rumored Microsoft Courier.
So far I've only seen it taking screenshots and editing these with the pen, which is of course the first step.
But I'm thinking of live pdf editing and stuff like that. I want to open the Script for my lecture and add notes to it with the pen, or take a photo of the blackboard and insert it into the pdf, you know things like that.
Will these things be possible with HTC Scrybe? I think only taking screenshots and editing these is a bit uncreative and not realy productive and/or helpful
I've had the same concerns, but if you look on youtube and search video, you will see ones where someone actually writes something in the notes application, which sync automatically with Evernote. The writing seem to work quite well (i.e. small enough to actually write words and sentences on the 7" screen), although I am quite interested to see a live demo.
You can also find videos where people edit documents with the pen, including scribbling in books, PDFs, etc. Not sure whether or not these are saved as pictures - seems to be the only way (?), and then forward these as email, and so on...
It's a shame the only release dates I can seem to find point to an early May release...

If you setup your lectures in your calendar as recurring appointments, you can scribble notes in the calendar entry and at the 'next' lecture, you can pick up where you left off. This would effectively build one long note for each subject. This is one of the many killer features which are difficult to appreciate until you use it.

Flyer has palm detection and fine pen options for detailed notes. Only issue is that the touch buttons are not palm friendly.

I'm sure there are Android apps for taking notes... hopefully there are a few that sync with Google Docs or Dropbox... and record meeting sounds.

Hmm... that's too bad. HTC's site show's this as a function of Scribe... maybe its a different app shown in the intro video. It starts with the user typing noteson a blank page, then taking a picture and adding to the notes, then handwritten annotations with the pen, then recording sound, and playing back the sound via the notes...
In any case, I still find myself preferring pen and paper to my iPad during meetings eventhough the convenience of electronic notes with sound is a powerful tool. We'll see if the magic pen or smaller form-factor of the Flyer solidifies the change.
I think the notes app can do everything you need including the taking of hand written notes, typed notes, sound, pictures etc all in one note.
You can also edit PDF documents with annotations etc and save those back into the PDF in 2 different ways. I have no idea yet if you can do any more advanced PDF editing such as changing the flow of a document with an image.

Yes, after reading a few more reviews, it sounds like the Notes application can do the notes and sound sync... though there may be a problem with the granularity of the notes and sound sync.
Definitely looking forward to getting a small-form factor, full-featured Android tablet.

htc's custom app can sync audio and pen. there are no OTHER apps that do that, meaning that unless someone extracts htc app, we can't do that on other tablets.

That makes sense. Not enough real estate on a phone to take notes. With the stylus concept, HTC definitely needs good apps which utilize the ped. The Notes app actually sounds like Soundnotes, which I use on the iPad. Definitely has the same quirks (per a recent review), and definitely not like the livescribe pen.
Hopefully we get a few more options as android tabs become more popular. I desperately want to go all electronic with my workflow, but can't seem to get away from paper for notetaking... I do scan those in for archival purposes. ;-)
Hi, i have an android tablet and i was looking at my friend's Ipad and saw an app he had called Notes Plus. This app allows him to write text, draw pictures, and take photos all in the same file! So, in class he can take a few notes, draw some diagrams, and then take a picture of the homework screen at the end all while recording the lecture.
I was wondering if an app like that existed OR if someone could please make it. I am sure people would be willing to pay quite a bit for an app that could finally do all of those things in the same file. I have seen apps that do it separately but that is a huge hassle while in class.
Catch notes is sort of like this but I don't think you can draw. But everything else I think is there in that app.

No, catch shows all of them as SEPARATE files. Drawings and text has to be displayed separately from each other, which is a HUGE hassle when in class and trying to take notes quickly.
Flyer tablet has a matice Notes app, integrated with Evernote that does the same. I haven't used the app long enough, to review how well it does the job though.

Help! I've noticed that when I try to create a note in the notes app when wi-fi is off, the note disappears?! It says "saving" but doesn't actually save?
Same problem happens when I'm in airplane mode. I can save when not on wi-fi to a "local notebook", not a "synchronized notebeook", but this workaround is a headache. Anyone else have this problem?
I had a similar problem only when the length of a note exceeded a particular limit. Was really frustrating. Got myself Quill app and it is honestly better compared to the native notes app. It's available under the Jetsream Apps section on this forum..

Quill
Ok, thanks for the recommendation. Quill seems like a superior notes-specific app... I wish it sync'd with Evernote automatically though...
Yes, would be nice if it were to sync automatically with evernote.
None the less, here is one more app - supernote. It is also good. even has some nice painting capabilities. Found it on another thread on the Toshiba Thrive Forum.
Thanks and credit to whoever uploaded it originally.
so, anyone know if there is/what is the best pdf viewer to view multiple pdfs (for my needs they will be chord charts and lyrics for songs) in page by page format, almost like a power point slide show, maybe just a swipe of the screen or click of the side of the screen would bring up the next pdf. thanks.
I use an app called MobileSheets for this. It appears to be the only app available for Android that can do this. Fortunately, it's a pretty good app and it has support for BT pages turners if that is something might need. It's worth mentioning that the developer is very responsive to issues.

Anyway to change some settings so that the writing is very smooth and not jagged?, I tried Note Anytime which makes your writing look really nice, almost like you are writing on paper!

Yes absolutely!
When lecturenotes is open, tap your menu button and go to settings. Within settings, first go to input and check "use stylus" then scroll all the way to the bottom and click "filter input setup." Uncheck everything, then check apply Savitzky-Golay filter and set the order to 5. This is my personal favorite, but you might wanna play around with it. Make sure "discard coordinates between Android events" is UNCHECKED.
Now go to Handling and scroll halfway down and make sure "use fast temporary rendering" and "use fast page rendering" is checked.
Also make sure force gpu rendering is not on in your developer settings.

In the android settings, turning off force gpu rendering also makes a huge difference in lecturenotes.
Thank you! I will try it out in class tomorrow

I have tried lecture notes several times. But due to the lag I can never stick with it. I end up using Snotes for tracking my clients workouts (Bought my note for my personal training business) and then Papyrus for long notes. It doesn't have as many options as lecturenotes but It is even smoother than Snote

@Duly.noted: Have you enabled `enforce GPU/hardware rendering´ in your device's developer settings? Enabling this option slows down LectureNotes as lot.

There is absolutely NO lag in LectureNotes once you get it tweaked just right.
I've been playing with it again and its better Now. Im exporting docs made in Lecture Notes width 1600 by height 2560 Ruled 70% and exporting it keeping lines and in A4 all margins at Zero I want to have a way to import them again into a new notebook that Ruled and matches the pdf size and lines perfectly. That way if I erase a part of it there isnt a blank spot with no lines any ideas for this ?

@Duly.noted: I am not exactly sure whether I understand what you wish to achieve.
If it is about to copy one or more pages from one notebook to another: Open the source notebook in notebook overview (either directly from the notebooks board by long-clicking on the notebook and selecting `Notebook overview´ in the popup menu, or by opening the notebook normally and selecting `Notebook overview´ in the main menu), click on the tag to activate tag mode and on the pages to be copied to tag them, and select `Copy tagged pages to clipboard´ in the main menu. Close the source notebook and open the target notebook in notebook overview and select `Paste pages from clipboard´ in the main menu. To rearrange pages, click-and-drag them to the desired location.
In case the two notebooks have different (or opposite) aspect ratio, note the first two options `keep aspect ratio´ and `auto-rotate´ in the app's import settings.

Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
@arty93: Even though LectureNotes usage of many individual files to store notebook pages is ideal for syncing your notes, LectureNotes does not directly sync with cloud services. There are too many different cloud services and syncing is better done by the specialized app of your favorite cloud service (or general syncing apps such as FolderSync), as they keep up with interface and security updates. LectureNotes allows you to set its app directory (the place where it stores your notebooks) to any place on your SD card, so that you can set it to a place that gets automatically synced with your cloud account. If you do not yet use such automatic syncing, you can set it up specifically for the LectureNotes app directory. In this way, you can automatically sync different devices as well. A large fraction of LectureNotes users has in fact multiple devices and does syncing in this way.

Try exporting a Note as pdf then import it into A New note. I want the New note to match the pdf dimensions exactly and be able to erase Words from the pdf without lines dissapearing because the notes lines match the pdf's.

@Duly.noted: Whether or not paper color and paper pattern are included into the export PDF file can be setup in the PDF export setup in the app's export settings.
One can get pages of one notebook to another via PDF export and reimport, but it is usually faster to do that as I described in my previous post.
If you wish to send your notes to another person, you can also share LectureNotes' notebooks (or subset of pages of notebooks), the resulting ZIP archive can be reimported in LectureNotes by the other person. The advantage of this over PDF export/import is that layer structure remains intact.
For me lecture notes lags significantly more when I'm in dual window mode. But when I run it in fuIIscreen the lag is barely noticeable. It's really annoying because when l'm studying I have the textbook in one window and take notes in the other. I've done everything mentioned in this thread except disabling "force gpu rendering", I can't seem to find it. Where is it?
@barthx: I am sorry about this problem. From LectureNotes' perspective, it does not make any difference whether it runs in full screen or dual/cascade view, and there is no difference in response time between the two modes on the old Galaxy Note 10.1. Why there is a difference between the two modes on the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1 is unknown, I guess that input events are sent with a small delay in dual/cascade view. There was initially a similar problem on the Nexus 10, input events were sent with a delay of 250ms, and the problem was gone after a system update.

Do a search for it. But you'll find it in the about section in the android settings after you tap the build number 7 times i think.
Either way, no lag for me in multiwindow. even with 800+ page pdf and lecturenotes open
