No problem here downloading the rom using megaupload or any other
file sharing site using my phone.
There is a folder on the root directory of the internal sdcard called
".downloadTemp" thats where the file gets downloaded to.
The default browser works best for me not only in downloads but in general.
I am using gtg's unNamed v1.0.3 rom right now.
I have downloaded many files from Internet since getting this new phone.
Good luck!

Sometimes the stock browser can be flakey when it comes to downloads. You can try clearing cache and user data, and anything else to reset the browser and that might fix it for you.
But the easiest fix is to just use a different browser, dolphin its the one I use.
Not that the stock browser is not a good one, but I could never get it to consistently download everything either. It would seem like I would toy with it for days to get it to work, then a day later it would be picky about what file types it would download again.
And last little note if your interested in this stuff, it seems the dolphin browser is the fastest browser at rendering java script we have available on Android (although the speed is not way better, it is a little better)

Don't use the default browser, download using opera always works. Look fire opera in market. It's a wonderful substitute for the stock browser with better interface as well.

I've used a few browsers beginning back in January and I have to agree that Opera is by far my favorite. I've used Miren, Dolphin, xScope and I think a few others and have found Opera to be the best for what I do. I don't need all of the customization options that some of the browsers provide and Opera loads quickly and easily; as well as allowing me to download the files I want to download.
If you want to download using the stock browser go to the market and download a small app called, download all files. Once installed, it allows the stock browser to save any file. Works great for me

I had some issues earlier today where Megaupload wouldn't let me download the complete file. Even to my desktop. It kept getting stuck between 80 and 90%. I had to give it a couple of hours then it worked. You may try to download a download manager from the Market as well.
stock browser seems flaky to me. usually it works, but every now and then it wont let me dl a program/app/file. like others have suggested maybe try another browser. sometimes if i restart the phone i can grab the file that failed the 1st time

I'm sure in not the only world who has this problem. I can't download from places like rapidshare, hotfile, megaupload, etc from my phone. I just get the less than 1mb file that never starts downloading. What gives? How can I download this way?

I know what you are talking about and it is irritating! I also have issues with multiupload links and not being able to log in to my premium accounts because the login is either cut off on the screen or blacked out. The best browser for both these issues in my mind is opera 11. Its fast and I am about to use titanium to back it up so I dont have to renter my username and password for certain sites unlike the stock browser when I install a new rom you loose all of that. You are able to save your bookmarks but that's about it.
HTC Thunderbolt
s-off rooted
VirusROM RC1B2
OK awesome thanks for the suggestions. Ill try them out!

If that doesn't work you can try pulling the battery out while the phone is on. And then put the battery back in and turn it on. And/or go into menu> settings> applications> manage applications> all (tab) > scroll down to internet > hit clear data, and force stop. I know this helps me when my market tries to through a fit.
This is an odd one. My stock browser flat-out refuses to download seemingly anything I ask it to. I'm always met with 'failed' or 'unsuccessful' and it's getting infuriating, especially when Dolphin HD downloads them effortlessly.
So far I know that it won't download rars, wmvs, zips, even apks.
Hopefully it's just a case of changing a setting somewhere. I hope someone knows how to fix it though!
its always been like that, even on my s1, dl dolphin mini, all your problems will go away forever trust me

Thanks. So it's some kind of Samsung 'quirk'?
Incredibly annoying, but at least I have Dolphin HD. Is Dolphin Mini much different?

So there is no way to make the default browser download file types suck as .apk, .zip etc? Really like the simplicity of the stock browser, but the file downloading "issue" is really annoying. Please don't give answers such as "install Dolphin" etc. as that's not what I'm asking for
this app solves that problem: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.hwkrbbt.downloadall

Since android sucks at downloading all file types, what are you guys using to download those files that dont download with the stock browser?
I've tried astros download all files option and i still cant download anything.
I think i also tried download all files and that doesnt work either.
Its just a pain in the ass when i have to go home and downloadnfiles on my computer than tranfer to my phone

I download any file fine. Some websites don't get along, but I can download any file type fine, but that is if the website gets along lol. There are times when it comes out as a .bin file. That is easily fixed by just renaming it to whatever file extension it was supposed to be.

Same here, I never have a problem trying to download anything. I did have a problem verifying captchas once, but I just switched browsers. I had the problem in Opera Mini, but it was fixed as soon as I started using the stock browser. What are you trying to download?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I use Opera when the stock browser won't do it.
When I had my cappy I could download apk and zip files and stuff that people posted on the forums while browsing on my phone. I can't do that anymore. It just keeps saying download unsuccessful. It is kind of a paint to see something I want then have to go to the computer. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to change something in the settings? Thanks for any input.

Do you have a folder in the internel sdcard named DOWNLOAD ?
If not create it and try downloading again. (using default browser).
You should be able to download anything off of internet.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
Try downloading "download all files" from the market, it allows the stock browser to download any file type

I checked for the download folder and it was there. I downloaded that app from the market and that did the trick. I am not sure why I never had to do that on my captivate. Maybe it was the rom I was running. Thanks for the help, guys.

I have the same problems with downloads being unsuccessful with the stock browser. But on all other browsers our seems to work fine. I just copy paste the link into a different browser if I want to download something. Dolphin and opera both work fine.

Looks like the Chrome Beta is out on the market, says it works for ICS devices only. I installed it on my Xoom and extracted the apk in hopes of installing it on my Rezound anyway, but I get the parse error message. Anyway, market link and a DL for the apk are below, if someone cares to spend the time to get it working:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.android.chrome
http://db.tt/GHQM6yGj
It's a free app, so I don't think I'm breaking any rules by posting the apk, but if I am, sorry bout it.

Works fine on my ICS ROM. Try just dropping the APK in your /data/app. It looks a lot better and renders faster than dolphin and the stock browser.
I must be doing something wrong, when I tried to drop it in using ES File Explorer, it tells me that the copy failed.

I'm running stock Gingerbread; just got my Rezound a week ago and haven't got around to trying out an ICS ROM. Dropping the APK into /data/app doesn't appear to work, but I didn't really expect it to work so easily
I don't have any idea if it's possible to hack this to work with GB, but that would be pretty sweet.

Are you mounted r/w?
Works on my ICS rom. (CleanROM ICS)
Went in with ROM Toolbox, seems that ES doesn't have SU privileges for some reason. Will need to find out what that is about.

If you're on Nils' ICS ROM you should just be able to install it.
Yep still on Nils ICS ROM, but its not letting me install it, has to do with security settings, its weird, he already said he took out the need to allow third party apps. I am going to play with it some more and see what I can figure out before I ask him.

The checkbox is under settings -> security -> "unknown sources". I've heard some people say that the checkbox went missing on them.
It's not there. He took it out and defaulted it to on.

I'm using JoelZ ICS base, and downloaded Chrome Beta right from the market. It installed fine, and everything worked.
This is what I am getting...
I am running Scot's clean Gingerbread Rom.
Downloaded it from phone & computer.
