[Q] ATT SGS2 Car kit via the USB NOT Line - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Ok, I am looking for a DIGITAL car-kit integration. I don't want NO Bluetooth or Analog Line-Out from the headphone jack.
IS there any kit out there that will route audio directly from the USB OR mount the phone as a USB Mass Storage?
Sample of what I mean.... Plug your ATT SGS2 to an USB port that will route all audio in to the car's audio system. Allow sound output in to the car's speaker via digital path (no DAC exchange). Also allow you to play any MP3 store in the SGS2 or listen to stream music via Pandora, Grooveshark...etc...etc. Also can double back as a handsfree in-car unit
Seems like iPhone has MANY of these options, but I can't seem to locate one for my SGS2

My buddy that works for a car audio place said that pioneer will have an android based head unit soon called app radio.

The app radio from Pioneer works with the iPhone and iPod, not Android.

This is impossible unfortunately. Trying to keep it completely digital isn't necessary either, since the head unit needs to convert those digital signals into analog output into your speakers. To the best of my knowledge there is no USB audio bridge available for phones, and your head unit wouldn't know what to do with that kind of input if it was even possible. Just use the Aux out for best audio quality, and make sure you either use a heavily shielded cable, or get a Ground Loop Isolator, or you may hear alternator whine.

Using Bluetooth speakerphone and 3.5mm jack simultaneously

OK so here's what I want to do.
I'm currently my Hero as a kar kit by plugging it in via my cars aux input. I also permanently use my phone to play my favorite tunes via the aux input. So when I get a call the music pauses and continues when I'm done talking.
I'm now interested in buying a bluetooth speakerphone as the hero does not have echo cancellation and audio calls echo's back horribly in my car.
Will I be able to pair the bluetooth speakerphone/headset and have music playing via the 3.5mm jack at the same time? Will calls be handled via the Bluetooth device or the audio jack?
Maybe you could ask a Mod to move this to General -> Q&As? It isn't Hero specific & you could get a bigger audience. You should mention what version of Android you'll be running though.

Ah ok, thanks for the tip.
I went ahead and bought the Bluetooth speaker without knowing the outcome. When the phone is plugged into the 3.5mm jack a headphone icon is displayed. When the bluetooth device is connected, a different bluetooth paired icon is displayed.
So what happens is exactly what I wanted - When listening to music via the 3.5mm the audio is played via the car stereo. When a call comes in the music gets paused and the audio get routed the bluetooth speaker.
Inexpensive and simple car-kit solution.
Glad you got a result - & that you posted on it
What kit did you buy to do this? I am looking to do the same!

any developers here? car audio request internal decoder for flac

i ve been searching everywhere and everything trying to get to play my flac collection in the car.
currently the car stereo manufacturers are beeing retarded and not developing any flac support( or at least not saying anything about it)
i checked rockbox, some off brand car stereos, even considered car PC)
but none of those options except car pc (EXPENSIVE) give me a digital signal option.
i know i can use it through AUX
and I KNOW ABOUT IPOD ALAC!!!! DAMN HOPE IT BURNS IN FLAMES !!!
everybody keeps suggesting it like its a piece of cake to convert a 200-300gb of CDs backed up in flac format.
so i come here to see if its possible to create an interface for the android phone so when plugged into a USB in car stereo it will act similar to ipod.
but so it would convert and send out a PCM WAV or other uncompressed format instead of flac or MP3

When you plug into a car's USB jack, all control is transfered to the car's system. The android just acts like a USB flash drive at that point. There's nothing you can do to the android to override this behavior. You'd have to hack the car's systems to do what you want. I've got the same problem. My car only supports mp3, wma and wav from the USB jack. It has an ipod jack too, but I've never owned one so I don't know what that may or may not do. I just use wav audio on a portable USB drive in my car to get lossless music. A year or two later model of my car has A2DP bluetooth, but I'll have to wait awhile before I can upgrade my car.
My friend tried his Iphone 4G in my car (pioneer DEH-P5100UB) by usb, he played spotify so not a file that actually was on his phone.
so if that works there must be some streaming from his phone to my receiver, so streaming from an android phone should work aswell...
sry for digging up an old thread but this might be the way to a nice solution to this problem.
androidphone with flac files --> flacplayer in phone --> send pcm(or whatever it is the iphone is doing) to the car stereo via usb
any thoughts?
Or Bluetooth?

my receiver don't have bluetooth.
i am still interested in the usb audio idea, if it is a digital connection that the car receiver plays or if the phone does the DAC job?
theres no direct interface for anything besides iphone.
i would be nice to plug in any flac capable phone and have control over it through your stereo but use the phone as a decoder and send WAV file to the stereo.
but i have no fn idea why car audio companies would not do it.
i mean its a damn usb interface, its already universal. and doesnt take much effort to get together and create a universal control interface so we can use something besides the damn iphone in the car. that sht is getting old.
thers one i phone
but theres hundreds of other phones and they all share 3 things in common:
android OS
USB
and fast processor that can handle decoding of flac files or any other media files.
yet theres not even a hint of support for these devices for some unknown reason.
Google music and power amp can play flac. I have flac in my phone too.

this is like beating a dead horse.
lol i dont care about AUX everyone has figured that out by now that you can hook up yor phone through aux
or use it as a media storage...

Integrate Galaxy S2 to the Car Audio through FM transmitter?

I have a Galaxy S2. I have heard that we can integrate the phone to the car system using FM frequency. Is there any software available for it? Kindly help me
the sgs2 can not be turned into a fm transmitter via an app if u meant that.
you have to connect a real fm transmitter to the phone to play music.

You can get Bluetooth FM transmitters which allow you to route phones called and music to an FM channel on your car stereo. Most of these have built-in microphones with echo cancellation to improve voice quality.
another option, would be to get a car streo which has built-in bluetooth.
One example:
If your car stereo is not bluetooth ready, you can often add bluetooth to your existing stereo by purchasing an inexpensive "Bluetooth Gateway". They typically hide in behind the stereo and plug into RCA connectors on your car stereo. If you do an Amazon search for "bluetooth gateway" you will find products, prices and reviews.
good luck.

[Q] Is it possible to force bluetooth media audio to emulate wired connection?

I have the A100 HTC Car StereoClip for streaming audio to my car stereo, but only the bluetooth profile is for "Media audio."
The device works great for streaming audio - it sounds just as good as a wired connection - but, it will not work for phone calls. When a call comes in, the "media audio" stops/pauses, then the call comes through the phone's speaker. With a wired connection using the physical headphone jack, the call will go through the car stereo and use the phone's microphone.
Is it possible to force a different profile for the A100 to do the same thing as the wired connection?

I've been searching for this same exact question, but haven't found jack. Did you ever figure this out?

Not yet. I haven't found any app or utility that will make the A100 work like a corded link for phone calls.
I am hoping the answer lies in the /system/etc/bluetooth/audio.conf file. I haven't really looked into it because root is needed to test anything there. I plan to resume looking into this once s-off is achieved.
any solutions as of yet????

Nothing as of yet. However, the answer is not in the audio.conf file.
Can anyone tell me where the system detects the headphone jack is inserted and then redirects the audio?
Go to the bluetooth settings for your device, you will see two different options "Phone Audio" and "Media Audio". If you only see "Media Audio" your A100 does not support the required bluetooth prodiles to handle phone calls.
These are two separate bluetooth audio profiles, HFP for phone and AVRCP/A2DP for media.
When a phone call comes in, the phone pauses the AVRCP connection for the duration of the phone call, and HFP comes on to handle the call.
This is the device I used for bluetooth media/phone calls in my older model car, nothing spectacular about it but it works decently for being a $40 unit.
Connects via wire/RCA jacks to aux port and needs to be hardwired into power though.

Reading around ive abandoned the idea of finding a way to get this working on a2dp devices. Its just so stupid. All I want is to route the audio through the speakers, the microphone in the one x is close enough to pick up my voice. This is what I used to have when I hard wired the audio to my stereo in my car, and now with blutooth I can't.

Exactly. I haven't given up yet, but I agree that information on this is few and far between. Most info seems to be focused on redirecting all audio to mono SDP. With root, it should be possible somehow by re-routing the audio. I'm even ok if the music gets blended with phone audio - it might be annoying, but not nearly as frustrating as not getting phone audio via A2DP.

Unfortunately, even SoundAbout can't force the phone audio over AD2P-only devices. I talked (well, emailed) with the author about it last December. He was very receptive to input and he even tried a couple things, but no joy.
This solution requires root and knowledge beyond me. Or, I need to buy an adapter that supports AD2P and SCO and has a microphone.

[Q] Phone Audio out via 3.5mm Plug

Hi,
I have a BlueAnt bluetooth set in my car but it keeps dropping out and sounds crap.
I have a proper Samsung Car mount with a 3.5mm Audio jack that connects to my Audio in on the Car stereo.
Using this, I can play music from the SGS2 and hear things like GPS software instructions on the car speakers.
The question is, how do I get the phone side of things to play via the 3.5mm jack and use the built in phone MIC for the pickup?
Ie same as speaker phone but coming through the car speakers instead of the phone speaker.
Surely this is just a setting / registry change etc?
Neil.
