I accidentally deleted some photos from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1,
since the photos had sentimental value (my marriage proposal ), I started a quest to restore them.
To tell a long story short:
I tried a lot of PC recovery programs, but non of them recognize the tab as a drive (because windows/Linux don't recognize it this way)
I tried purchasing "Hexamob Recovery Pro", but it doesn't work on honeycomb / internal storage drives
I looked everywhere for a photorec binary to run from a terminal emulator
diskhelp/photorec is a tool for linux to restore deleted files with.
I am desperately seeking help to run photorec (or any file recovery program) from the android tab itself.
My Tab is rooted with clockwork recovery and busybox installed.
Any ideas anyone? any lead would really make my day.
Now, any ideas ?

Hi all,
I recently got a 16 gb wi-fi Galaxy Tab 10.1, still unrooted. Made a spreadsheet in quickoffice (.xlsx) and attempted to transfer to my computer via flash drive. Pulled the drive out after transfer w/o ejecting it and corrupted the file (listed as 0 kb). The file is no longer listed on the tab.
Is there a chance a data recovery option could retrieve the original spreadsheet?
If so, how? I'm on a Mac and have had success using Data Recovery II, but it never recognizes the tab as a drive that can be scanned / recovered
I'm definitely a noob when it comes to working with tablets, apologies if this seems obvious or has already been answered.
Hello
I have accidently overwritten some photos on my Google Nexus 7 and would love to get them back. I`ve tried various recovery programs on Windows but none of them can read my tablet in MTP mode and I can`t connect it in mass storage mode. I have read that one way is to make a VHD image via RAW of the hard drive onto the pc, where the recovery programs can access it. The trouble is I I think have to root the tablet which i don`t really want to do
1) Is there a way of creating this file without rooting?
2) Does anyone know of a recovery program that uses MTP?
3) If I really HAVE to root, whats the least destructive way of doing this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Im afraid they are officially lost, if you didnt make a backup before hand then thats it.

Thanks but could you explain why you think that? Recovery programs scan your hard disk for sectors marked for deletion, looking for anything that looks like a jpeg file structure. I am hopeful one of these programs could salvage something, and would like to let at least one have a go. Unfortunately I can`t get that far as I can`t get the pc to scan connect to the tablet. I think its because the tablet does not have a USB Mass Storage mode, but can`t be sure. Hoping someone else is a little more optomistic!!!!
Android Data Recovery tool
Have you ever met the problem about losing your files on your phone suddenly? I have once lost my contacts and messages on my Samsung Galaxy S3, and I get all them back with the help of an Android Data Recovery tool.
This was originally posted over in XDA Assist (Thread over here) but was recommended I post it over here to see if people could help. Pardon the copy paste.
A friend of mine that I gave a tablet to left it in a hot car and now it is bootlooping. She has a bunch of photos and documents that were written on the tablet that she would like to get back. The only trouble is that this tablet is one of those Chinese Action ATM7029 clones with little to no information on the internet about them. I figured out the combos to get into the stock recovery and do have access to SD cards to load recovery images onto it. ADB bridge / debugging was never turned on in the tablet so going into recovery does not create an ADB link. Here are the details:
Device: FastTouch 10" 8gb
Android: 4.2.2
Processor: ATM7029
Memory: 8gb flash / 1gb ram
ADB Enabled: No, USB Debugging was never turned on
Recovery: Accessible, but only stock version
SD Slot: yes, 8 and 32gb SD Cards are available to be used
Computers and Operating systems: I have a Mac with 10.8 with ADK 'installed', access to a windows 7 machine available
(Amazon link to the device: amazon_com/gp/product/B00ECKG0XK/)
Here is what I have done:
1) Got into recovery
2) Tried wiping cache and rebooting, still stuck
3) Tried ADB from a Mac machine, not recognized (ADB was not turned on in tablet)
4) Looked for any sort of recovery for the device. Sketchy possibles, no direct compatible found
5) Posted here.
Here is what I want to do:
1) Get the files off (if possible)
2) Get the device working, even if that requires wiping the files out (if possible)
Can anyone point me to a CWM or TWRP that would work with this device and let me form an ADB link to backup with? Even if the recovery ran out of ramdisk and didn't install that would be enough. I really want to get those files back out before doing dastardly things to the device. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.
Hi all,
Today I smashed my company phone - old Myphone Cube. I dont want to repair him, I will get newer BUT I want to restore my data.
I have there important photos on internal storage + ALL MY CONTACTS.
I tried everything with adb via stock recovery (update via ADB), which gives me ADB error: closed (no matter which version of adb I use.
In stock recovery is also an option "backup data", so I made an backup to sdcard. On sdcard in computer I see 3,5GB big file with .backup extension. I unpacked it via 7-zip and all I see is userdata_20100101_000113.backup. I cannot unpack it via anything.
Iam very lost. I tried many tools and stuff, but nothing helped me do something with ADB or this backup file. I also tried USB OTG to connect mouse, because LCD is still working, only touch doesnt, but this phone doesnt support OTG. I tried also My Phone explorer, but sadly, I dont have turned on USB debugging.
Iam playing with idea to buy digitizer for 10 bucks of ebay and do it this way, If any of those metods will not work.
Any ideas please?
Thank you, Martin!
My deepest apologies if this is the wrong forum but I am trying to find out if anyone has been able to modify these pdms as its little more than a cell phone made by a company called Nuu and its their A1+ phone.
It appears to be stripped of all apps and not sure if its possible to root it to add the other android apps back but it would be nice if I could add them back and do things like re enable the audio plug.
I just got one of these and started to investigate such an idea, which is how I found this thread.
So far I have gotten it to be accessible in Windows 10 Pro by installing the Drivers from:
https://www.helpjet.net/Fs-34429584-64578678-97773923-devices.html
It shows up under Devices and drivers as Android. Which is the Internal Storage on it.
To view the files on it , you have to copy them to another drive on your computer.
Within Device Manager Android Phone shows and within it it shows Android Composite ADB Interface so it appears the serial port to access the phone is accessible.
I installed a 32GB MicroSD and in Device Manager it shows up under Portable Devices as does Android .
In Device Manager Drives, neither the Android or 32Gb MicroSD Show up as drives.
, but Android is viewable in Explorer as a 5.24 GB Drive.
So it appears it is susceptible to hacking, just have to figure out how to do it....
It will be cool if someone can extract applications and make them work in any Android smartphone to avoid using 2 phones.
