[Q] Changing Wifi network profile - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
My company uses their wifi netwok with 802.1, PEAP, and active directory username and a password. When configuring in laptop initially it will show only as a wep. Later we used change the network profile in th settings. but i could able to see my company wifi network in my x10 as a wep connection only. Is there any app that we can change the network profile which is listed when scanning????
I tried with manually adding also, but didn't worked. Pls help me in configuring this.
Thanks in advance....

Anybody can help????
Or it can be like this. Exporting the wireless settings from Laptop or pc and importing to the Mobile......

when you try to "add wifi network" on phone, under security options, you should see 802.1x EAP. Hope that helps

Problems with VPN, Wlan and I-explorer or email

Hi,
i have problems with my vpn connection over a wlan-device on my mda2. (pocketpc 2003)
For network understanding:
The wlandevice gets an ip in a privat class network where i can reach the vpn-gateway.
The vpn-gateways give me an external ip and gateway.
I can connect to the vpn and i get a corret connect which i can use with for example icq, ping-tools, avantgo and something else.
But if i open internetexplorer or email and enter a url the internetexplorer drop down the vpn connection.
I think this is a problem with the automatic methods from internetexplorer to open an gsm, gprs connection when you enter something. I don´t want to use these automatic dialup´s.
Can anyone tell me how to deaktivate the automatic dialing?

How to enable HTTP proxy to all applications?

I'm using a 3G data connection that requires a http proxy.
So... I've defined a proper APN with proxy.
Browser is the only program that I can use with this connection (only page view, no download). All the rest application that need an internet connection simply doesn't work.. nothing. Even the download from the browser doesn't work.
I've tried with another APN that's not using a proxy and works. Also with WiFi is ok.
So, my question is: it is posible to enable http proxy in ALL programs? I had no problem on Symbian or Windows Mobile..
This is by no means a definite answer, but in your APN, try adjusting the "APN type" setting. On Telus, it's: default, mms
From what I understand you can try a combination of those two settings, or set it to nothing. See what results you get.
Thanks for the reply
Unfortunately no change.
While it's not the response you were hoping for, since no one else has responded, I would contact my provider if I were in your position. See if they can offer any insight. Good luck!
Thanks but my provider cannot do anything. I've used this connection on other platforms without problem (windows mobile, symbian).
The problem is that application take just the apn without proxy details.. Only the browser is using the proxy
It seems that's an Android issue ..
You may star this issue:

so maybe google will understand the importance of this feature.. i'm still wondering why it's not implemented as it should..

FIXED: Loosing GPRS password when no network coverage

I have some problems with my GPRS (data) settings when I loose my network coverage, like in a thick concrete building.
The device asks met to re-enter the password for the GPRS settings, even if I have checked the box "save password".
I configured my network (Vodafone NLD) using the Network Configuration Wizard. After that I switched Vodafone proxy off, cause it cannot be used for some services.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Are there some registry settings, which I could use to maintain my settings?
So nobody has to re-enter password for data connection? Or no-one has a solution to this?
Found it!!!
Finally found the problem, it was NoDataInRoaming causing this problem, I de-installed it and the problem is gone.

[Q] Network IP settings lost

Is there a way to make WM6 store the specific IP and DNS settings for an individual network?
When I have the settings configured for my home network it works great but having to change them and reset them each time I connect to a public network it a pain.

[Q] Custom DNS settings

Hi,
I am currently trying to find a way to change the DNS settings on my S II. I want to implement the posibillity to set the DNS IP in the settings of my cyanogenmod ROM.
But it seems like its impossible to set a custom DNS for mobile networks on the SII.
I found out that Android stores its DNS settings as properties.
- net.dnsX for the current active DNS
- and also dhcp.wlan0.dnsX when connected to WiFi,
- or net.rmnet0.dnsX when connected to a mobile network.
I was able to change this settings manually with the "setprop" utility and also automatically by modifying "20-dns.conf" from dhcpcd for WiFi and "ConnectivityService.java" for mobile networks.
For WiFi this works without any problems, but for mobile networks these settings seem to be ignored completely. Android still uses the DNS settings from my provider. I was searching through the complete android source to find an indication where the dns settings are stored that are actually used, but I have found nothing.
First I thought my provider is routing all requests to port 53 to their own servers but even if I set the DNS address to 127.0.0.1, all requests are still resolved.
Has anyone tried this before or even sucsessfully changed the DNS settings for mobile networks on the S2?
I belive the DNS settings for mobile networks are handled in some binary blobs (from Samsung?), maybe libsec-ril.so.
Does anyone have what I can do?
While searching through the net I found out that this is working for other devices, so I dont really understand why samsung would ignore the properties in their code.
