Good morning ... sorry for my bad English, i am Italian.
It is possible to make a porting of another rom (eg. Motorola Xoom, Acer Iconia etc..) to have in our tablets HC 3.2.
I say this, because before I had installed an Acer Iconia HC 3.2 of a motorola Xoom before the official version with a cooked rom.
All these devices are based on nvidia Tegra2, then 90% are the same, right? or not?
You can do this?

Task and Phantom tried to port over a rom from xoom but could not release it because drivers not working proper for wifi and some other things.
You "can" but it might take a lot of effort to get it ported correctly.

Go to my website at the following link.
http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/starthere.htm
Use code yellow. Any of the froyo roms listed in the ROM page will be much better than vegan ginger and the stock.
The reason you're having a bad experience with video in vegan ginger is because ginger does not have full hardware acceleration. But the froyo roms do.
PS - Where you from?
from albania
which is the best froyo ???

Any froyo rom will do. My personal favorite is calkulin+clemsyn combo.

THx,
I already found out how to root and install honeycomb 3.0.1..
apparently to those who seek the same answer i use z4root to root the tablet.. then i install ROM MANAGER and choose advent vega
install clockworkmod from there and boot to recovery.
once into recovery, i installed the vegacomb now i have honeycomb
not sure if i'm on the right track there.. but it works for me
Ey, i have same tablet. Im trying to do same that you but i just restart with vegacomb beta 7, updated with beta 8 and it restarts ever. What versions did you use?
Do you know how could i kill this restart and restart and restart...
Regards.
I answer myself. I just done with Vegatools 4.0 and VegaModdedStock 1.10 v2 ^_^
At now i have an issue with screen touch... it doesn't recognize fine at all gestures and touches... :/
Wait you can run Vegan 3.2 on the Gtab?!
How?!
viewsonic viewpad with Honeycomb
I just installed Honeycomb (Android 3.2) on my viewsonic and it worked great.
go to the "code google android-x86 download list" site.
It is the first on on the List. This is a iso file so you need to convert it to run on a usb drive.
I also want to thank the tegav people.
This workd great!!!!!

Viewpad 10s Honeycomb 3G working?
I installed the Viewcomb 3.2 but the 3G wireless does not work. Could anyone help me please?
Where to find the 3.2 android for Viewpad.. thanks in advance
could they port honeycomb off the xoom? how close are they to make a stable honeycomb ROM?
Theres a million threads on honeycomb. Do a search. They are close on finishing a kernel for honeycomb
The problem is not the rom, there's already a bunch of ported roms from other tablets, but they are not stable because it isn't using the right kernel that is needed for the g-tab. They have to build the kernel from the begining for the g tablet because viewsonic doesn't want to help us.
Ok...I am really REALLY new to all of this. IF you put a custom Honeycomb ROM (CM7 is Honeycomb right?) onto a tablet, will it then run apps that are designed for Honeycomb tablets?

Cm7 is 2.3.7 gingerbread and apps working anyway.
Most.

The ROM is the same android OS but customized regardless of the android version (honeycomb, gingerbread, etc).
Different ROMs could have the same Android version. Major ROMs like CM are updated by their Developers when a new android OS is available.
Apps work mostly on any ROM, unless a certain app doesn't work on a certain Android OS version.
I hope I could answer your question.

Sort of....I guess I should break it down a little. There is a Words With Friends App that is made specifically for Honeycomb and because of that I can't even put it on my tablet which runs Froyo (parsing error). If I install a custom ROM or ported ROM like CM9, will it allow me to be able to install it?
CM9 is Ice Cream Sandwich I believe... It might run your app.
Go to the app page on the market and see if anyone is complaining about it not working with ICS... If not, you're good to go.
CM8 was supposed to be Honeycomb, but didn't happen because Google didn't release the source code for Honeycomb. If you find a Honeycomb ROM specific for your tablet, then that answers your question. Otherwise you might have to wait till an ICS ROM is developed for your tablet.
Dear Viewpad 7 users,
Everybody says our beloved Viewpad 7 is too old for Ice Cream Sandwich but thats not true. I own a Galaxy Ace which has the same CPU only the turbo version which runs @ 800Mhz. And it runs ICS like a dream.
The Viewpad 7 is overclockable to 864Mhz and maybe with a better kernel it can go even higher. So it has enough preformance for ICS. I can even run ICS on my Phone @ 600Mhz.
So whatever they say ICS on our Viewpad 7 is possible..
Even the Legendary HTC G1 gets Ice Cream Sandwich.
You can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym4A82ft5pw
Please Developers help us port ICS to our Viewpad!
Good news for my viewpad7. Thank you for new information.
it would be great but we still not even got gingerbread so dont wanne get mij hopes up
+1, I use my Commtiva N700 daily and would love to have ICS running on it. Bought ~3yrs ago and still beats most tablets for features!

Yes and our devices are capable of running ICS we just need a Developer to port it
Hope the good news coming very soon...

Excuse me, not to rain on the parade or something, but what's the status on those ITE driver things ? Were the sources for them ever released ?
Those seem kinda important for the whole "port ICS" project, as far as I can tell...

No problem it isnt raining yet
The driver will not be a problem, but apparently a overclocked kernel might break the ITE driver.
However ICS can run on our device without overclocking
And there probably is a way around this issue anyway
Happy to help if I can
If I can get some support getting drivers, etc. I would be more than happy to generate an ICS ROM. I am very experienced in modifying stock roms (and specifically with the ViewPad 7), and have AOSP ready for mods. I need some assistance in knowing exactly what to extract from the stock rom in order to make sure wifi, etc work... So if someone more experienced in that wants to help out as an advisor we can make this happen pretty quickly.
I need to help, but I'm noob for linux's os. Now I try to collect the infomation with my bad english and google translate. If someone have a time please post link step-by-step howto port and that will very helpful for starter and noober. Thank you.

Please help this good man in finding what he needs. For i dont know where to find it myself.
But i know its there
That is awesome they released something for ICS for VPAD7 but it doesn't solve the problem of ARM6 not being supported by flash. They have the architecture but they just stopped working on it. So basically we get the look of ICS but still on 2.2.2 level of performance? Is it an improvement or just cosmetic?

Yes ICS brings alot of improvements with it. Indeed sadly the flash support is indees limited.
PS: What do you mean ICS is released for Viewpad 7 ?
No 2.3 still
Good news but the problem that i can see developers stopped creating ROMs for VP7 - they stopped working on 2.3 and i can't find anything re that to update my VP7 so hope they will look back to create more ROMs for ICS and GB as well as i am afraid of the speed with ICS
Any news on JB for Viewpad 7
Hi Friends,
I'm a noob on Android. I was looking for someone to advise what we would need to create the JB ROM for Viewpad 7. I know we will need drivers for the chipsets on the VP7. But there must be so many other things needed as well. Is there any developer who can help or even guide. I'm willing to do what is needed. I really want to get JB on this.
What I do know is we have:
CPU: Qualcomm MSM7227
WiFi: AR6000 Chipset
GPU: ARDENO 200
I also know that the above chipsets are used on the Xperia X10 and as such the Xperia X10 has a working (if not stable) JB ROM.
SO any one out there, please help.
Thanks
Gaurav
Doesn't it help that adobe has discontinued support for flash on Android?
