Hi Folks,
I was playing with changing my home page on the browser (i.e. editing BrowserApp.js) and it seems that now I can't install patches associated with the browser (Private Browsing, for instance). It fails with a message like this:
-1: Unable to run command: IPKG_OFFLINE_ROOT=/media/cryptofs/apps /bin/sh /media/cryptofs/apps/usr/lib/ipkg/info/org.webosinternals.patches.browser-private-browsing.postinst 2>&1
1 out of 9 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.browser/source/BrowserApp.js.rej
The browser itself is working fine. I also had a previous backup of this file that I did before starting editing it, but puting it back didn't solve the problem. I also tried to download a copy from a thread here in XDA but no use. I'm wondering if the package checks for checksum or the date, and it's failing that check...
Do you guys have any ideas on how to fix it? Do I need to use the doctor just because of this issue? (everything else is working, including installation of other packages)
Any help is appreciated!

I keep getting the "not sufficient space" error when i try to install Handcent SMS from the market. I do have 30MB free tho ... any ideas why?
What rom you on?
Have you tried to install other apps since you got this error message?
ROM: Villain 5.2
installing / uninstalling other apps causes no problems
nevermind. removed everything via adb shell.
the last update attempt seems to have caused some troubles.
thanks for the quick reply anyway!!
just FYI: as I noticed in logcat trace output:
It seems that the underlying problem for this widely noticed problem simply were wrong filesystem permissions on the "lib" directory within the data directory of applications.
This prevented the installer from deleting/updating the *.so file(s). And it seems that the installer is so dumb to show a "not enough space" error every time it cannot write to the filesystem (even if it cannot write because of missing permissions).
The problem affected only applications which include native shared libraries (*.so files) which are placed in this "lib" directory (like "Handcent SMS", "Better Terminal Emulator Pro", "aTilt 3D Labyrinth", ..)
interesting ... i'm gonna check that the next i have similar issues
Seems my problem started after install of Terminal Emulator. Now Handcent fails to install and I have no idea how to fix it, removing via adb shell is not in my vocabulary. Can someone clue me in on this as I am use to Hancent and like the way it operates.
Thanks!
Thought I'd post in this thread save starting a new one. I am having the same problems. I can install other apps but not handcent, the error is same as above not enough space.
Can someone please post instruction on how to fix this via adb ? (for a layman)
I have looked at the other posts concerning this and looked in the /data dir' and searched via astro for any related "handcent" entries but cannot find any and I still have the problem. Please help.
Many Thanks

Can you/someone give advice on how to perform this fix because I'm having this problem and this seems to be the only fix. It's not working but I don't think I'm doing it right.
I have the dlna.apk and the odex file was curious if there was a way to adb it back on the phone.. ( I removed it thinking I wouldn't use it )
I just don't know the commands for adb and if I try and just put them on sd card and install it says it is already installed but I know it is gone cause I removed it via titanium backup.
send it to me and let me see if i can do some work on getting it back on the phone. i took mine off too like you but dont have the dlna.apk

Check the ADB threads and/or Root Explorer (it could probably do this too) for the commands.
As a last resort, if you really need it and can't figure it out.. just download the stock ROM in the dev forum and flash/restore it but you'll have to redo the settings so back up data with Titanium Backup.
Dlna.apk AllShare reinstall fail.
I'm using the Vibrant9 Eclair 2.1 rom which has removed Dlna.apk aka AllShare.
Any ideas how to get this reinstalled?
Some of my results.
When I try to install via the Vibrant file browser it I get the usual
"Do you want to install this application"
I click on Install and get
"Application not installed"
Tried to install via adb.
./adb install /SDK/app/Dlna/Dlna.apk
1175 KB/s (787522 bytes in 0.654s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/Dlna.apk
execv /system/xbin/procrank returned -1
execv /system/xbin/librank returned -1
/mnt/.lfs: Function not implemented
execv /system/bin/parse_radio_log returned -1
[1] Killed pm install /data...
Tried to install while in adb shell, no errors untill reboot, got stuck on splash screen until it ended on a black screen, soft keys lit and stayed lit when I pressed them.
# install /sdcard/Dlna.apk /sdcard/system/app
# reboot
(black screen after splash loop on reboot)(adb shell active, can't gain su access though)
I've failed on trying to get it reinstalled too, anyone knowledgeable enough to fix this?
Bump... trying to get this working on FrankinTwiz...
Works fine on Bionix ROM, wonder whats different
I'm having the same issue. I can't get it to work on FrankinTwiz
Any luck?
I know this is an old thread, but has anyone had any luck at getting the Allshare app reinstalled with custom roms? I've googled to no avail.
u could try creating a .zip file and placing the dlna.apk in systems\app folder and flashing it in CWM.
For example, ur .zip file would look something like this.
C:\customzipfile.zip\system\app\dlna.apk
I havent tried it out though so not sure if it may work. Dont burn down my house if it doesnt. It just seems feasible.
Did you guys ever consider trying Bloater?
I'm trying to install it on my Nexus S, without success. Where should I put the Dlna.odex? When I installed the Dnla.apk, it says "installation succesful", even though it's not. Here's the log:
Code:
D/PackageManager( 332): Scanning package com.sec.android.app.dlna
E/PackageManager( 332): Package com.sec.android.app.dlna requires unavailable shared library touchwiz; failing!
W/PackageManager( 332): Package couldn't be installed in /data/app/com.sec.android.app.dlna-1.apk
I/InstallAppProgress( 7472): Finished installing com.sec.android.app.dlna
You can find the zip here, by the way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7259961&postcount=5

Hope this helps...
So I'm taking a free computer science/programming class (edx.org offered by MIT and Harvard, check it out, even give you the textbook for free) and I'm trying to install the programming package they recommend by Enthough, I downloaded the .sh file and tried to install it (bash xxx.sh) using WebTop2SD with WebTopScripts with the packages fixed, then tried Ubuntop with no luck, I keep getting "Cannot create symlink to "xxxx" Operation not permitted" for everything when trying to install it on either.
I remember before using Webtop2sd I had the webtopmod and all that crap (tried it first, kept messing up and I figured they all did the same thing since they're all by Sogarth) even had a username instead of adas and installed some linux chemistry programs, I still have all that too but webtop2sd wouldn't install the ubuntu.sh (I made a backup cause I really want to get that webtop back up, had programs I can't get anymore).
Would something like Gentop work or is it just a limitation from android?
thanks
EDIt: moved it to /osh/home/adas and then did sudo bash on it, getting "cannot execute binary file" now, someone saud chmod u+x xxx.sh, but still getting same error
Try just sudo -i. If you end up in a root shell, that's good. If not, your sudo might have issues.
Hi,
I own a Pono player, which is great when it comes to sound, but has a crappy firmware.
On early versions, it seems that debugging was easier (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-file-1-0-3-gingerbread-complete-rom.2967757/) but since version 1.0.6 everything is locked (or I'missing something.. how did they extract logs, ROMs, etc?).
So my idea is to craft a fake update file in order to re-enable adb, push a new main app, etc.
The upgrade process works as follow:
- Connect the PonoPlayer and put a "pono_1.0.6.update" file on the /.pono/ directory
- Craft a firmware.xml file which is supposed to contain the current firmware version: set it to 1.0.5
- Disconnect the Pono, it now thinks it' in version 1.0.5 and an upgrade to 1.0.6 is available.
Internally, the main Pono app scans the .pono/ folder and calls RecoverySystem.verifyPackage.
This works just fine: the device updates again to version 1.0.6.
Now I want to modify this update file and I still have no success even with a simple unpack/repack, without touching anything, thus not altering signatures.
I've tried to unpack/repack using apktool ("apktool d pono_1.0.6.update" + "apktool b pono_1.0.6.update.out") but the firmware update fails (stucked at 0%, and according to the app code that's what happens when an unexpected exception occurs).
I've tried to re-sign it (PonoPlayer is using the android testkey) with no more success.
How is it that a simple unpack/repack creates an apk with seems wrong is some ways?
Thanks for any help, I'm quite stucked..

Alright, I think I got it:
When rebuilding, the original scripts found in META-INF/com/ are lost. Just need to figure out how I can place them back.
It's probably for me time to read: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-index-how-to-modify-an-apk.4208093/post-84170227

Hi, I inadvertently wiped ny pono player, so now no music shows on player or the SD card. I formatted the internal memory when I was supposed to format the SD card. I am sure the player will now be unusable. Is this right ?
Hi, few day ago I made a videos with a modded version of Google Camera 8.1,
the first one was not saved properly and was in .pending????????.mp4 state, and I erased it by mistake,
because it was first time, I was using this tool, and I didn't knew that it is a temporary file.
I tried to recover, using many tools, but I was unable to recover it, so I decided to Root my phone using Magisk,
I made some mistake and testing some FastBoot command I relocked my Unlocked phone.
I had to Unlock again by using "miflash_unlock.exe", with advertising that all my data’s will be deleted.
After I managed to patch my phone, he restarted (I don’t installed any previous apps prom store, to avoid my video to wiped by new data,
and I tried with Ult Data, Dr Phone to recover the file, but Root access was not accepted.
Then I tested lot of android tool, nothing worked, after searching a lot I found this page :
https://drfone.wondershare.com/android-recovery/phone-memory-data-recovery.html
And I tried but some command didn’t work, since I didn't have FDISK, FTPPUT on my phone file system,
after some other search I found this ancient page (2014) who seemed to be the source,
https://sudonull.com/post/108208-Recovering-data-from-internal-memory-on-Android-for-dummies
and after installing BusyBox Pro,
I managed to get missing Linux tools.
I tried the command, all worked fine,
but now I’m unable to access this one :
Code:
ftpput -v -u sally -p able -P 40 192.168.1.4 sde55.raw /cache/myfifo
because my FileZilla does not get any information.
And I receive this message :
Code:
can't connect to remote host (192.168.1.4): Connection timed out
The article is old and that guy was using U.S.B. MoDem on CyanogenMod 11.
I use Magisk pro rooting and I do not know what tool I should use to get U.S.B. link with FileZilla Server to get proper connection.
I tried many things, changing protocols, P.T.P., M.T.P., and I do not know what to do,
so I thought may be here, someone with experience could point me to a tool to use in Android 12 / 11 with my Magisk and link to FileZilla Server,
to get image of internal memory back‑up‑ed ?
Thank you in advance.
No one knows how to ?
Someone knows an other methodic to extract partition totally & perfectly ?
