Lately I've been trying Rom after Rom... and now I'm just getting Straight up Pissed!
I've had a Rooted phone Forever, I've Made a few of my Own Roms... But for Whatever reason Can't figure out why I keep Losing Root Access now, On Most of the Roms I Flash?
Also...
When I Leave the phone "Alone" (Untouched) It's been having a Jealousy Problem and All the Android Processes Start Forcing Closed... Starting with the Superuser.apk then the Messages.apk!
I'm getting Sick of having to Pull the Battery and Wipe Cache, and Dalvik just to use my phone.... At least Ten times a day!
Anyone have a Fix? I'm out of Ideas!
It could be the super user update before the latest one not to long ago. I've had the same issue before and after the most recent update I've had no problems. Also which ROM are u using and also which kernel?
Edit: or the other way around... I forgot which it was but superuser was force closing like crazy.

Yeah, superuser is borked. If you completely wipe the data for it and uncheck the "remember" box it should work again. Kind of a PITA with apps like adblock that request it a dozen times but ohh well

The app dev has been working on fixing all the FC issues as their related to the sqlite database access whenever apps were requesting root access it was having issues with accessing its own database where it stored saved permissions. Not being able to access its own database was causing the FC issue.
He explains a lot of the bug trouble shooting on his web site: http://androidsu.com/
latest version on the market should have the majority of fixes. i would give that one a shot. go to market, install latest version and make sure to do the update su binary inside the latest version of the app.
personally, i just got rid of it and put the dev su binary from AOSP on until he has for sure fixed everything. not a very secure solution so i wouldn't recommend it for all, but for developing purposes, it saves me from having to deal with erroneous FC issues for now.
Sup pm man?? Hope all is good. A you could extract a su from a stable rom or a nand you made by using 7zip and install it. Or you could just try one of the super wipe zips around here and see if that works. Its weied though I've heard alot about su fc on a few members but I'm running steeleH rom and I've had not one fc.

Looks like he got it, updating SU through the app will give you 3.0.3 and it's working great again.
If anyone has trouble getting to where you can update it try wiping the data for Superuser first and then go to Superuser -> Menu -> Preferences -> Su binary... (tap to check for updates)

Well hope this won't get moved to q & a because once this is odexed I will create a bat file to push to framework and will update this thread.
I need a framework file odexed that has the hotspot hack. Anyone care to help?
Here is the file. I have tried and can't get it figured out. I think once we get this odexed we can push to framework and should unlock the hotspot so we don't need WiFi tether apps bypassing the need for Su privs.
hotspot hacked framework
Thanks to anyone that can help.

Maybe I'm missing something....how can you push anything to /system/framework bypassing the SU privs?
Code:
drwxr-xr-x root root 2011-05-23 10:46 framework
/system/framework is only writable by root. Unless you mean 'temp root, push file, now it works'....
But my understanding is that everything reverts to where it was after a reboot, so I'm not sure how this would work.... (Not being an ass, I honestly want to understand what it is that you think will allow this to work. )

Well easy process. It will be a one click temp root, push everything to correct spot, then it should work fine.
So what if you have to reboot, its a one click process to get it back. And not so sure about that once it reboots anyway. It will over write the files and may not need to redo after reboot.

It's all good bro. I will make this an easy add on to haus temp root. It should be an easy hack once we get this odexed. I contacted mikg and waiting to hear back.
I don't think it would revert the framework because its gonna be identical just hacked so it may not even revert back. Usually only reverts back the stuff pushed to data/temp where as this will push directly to /system/framework. I did it last night and it did over write the original one but since it wasn't odexed i put it back.

Even so, I still want to add this to the one click root method. We can keep adding to it until we get full root.
I've had a couple responses and sounds like it does need to he odexed from with in the phone. For those that have an EVO that we could use to wrap may be needed.
This sounds like a challenge but once we get it lots will benefit.

Accidentally click on "update" when it prompts. It makes no sense to have OTA update enabled for customized ROMs, but anyway to disable it? Thanks all.
This might do it
Just try for errors. I used root explore to edit the file "build.prop" in the system folder. Changed the Blur version to a large number (much larger than a practical one) and also change the rdf link information to an invalid one, as follows.
ro.mot.hw.uaprof=http://uaprof.motorola.com/phoneconfig/MotoMB999/profile/MotoMB999.rdf
ro.build.version.full=Blur_Version.99.9.9.MB855.Sprint.en.US
Then you need to reboot and wipe your cache with CM. After did so, the OTA update windows has never popped up so far and I won't even get the OTA update through the setting menu. But not sure if these edits will cause other issues, so you may try at your risk.
I would be interested to know if that effectively solves the issue, my Photon is running Laser and just today has started bugging me about the update every 3 hours.

For those that might not be as technically inclined or you don't want to take the chance in editing your build.prop you can also do this:
1. Download bloat freezer from the market. (its free)
2. I should have said first you have to be rooted or it wont work
3. Open bloat freezer and it will list all apps and processes; scroll down until you see "Updater".
4. Freeze that process. It will stay frozen until you defrost it.
5. That is it no more OTA pushes or Notifications
I know we all don't like OTA updates when you're unlocked, rooted, and running a custom rom and/or kernel. The hassle of flashing back and forth can be annoying too so this is a simple fix until we get custom radio's for the photon
The new Joker ROM is based off the latest OTA. But I think you have to install to leak to update the radios and what not then install the ROM. But you won't get any OTA updates as you'll be on the latest version. Home Base/Alien/Star Wars are all running on the 154 build.
You could also edit the build.prop file so that the system thinks you have the latest version...but you won't have all the fixes, so you should probably flash the latest SBF.

Freezing the updater was enough, have you made a backup of it? You might gonna need it when oficial ICS is released.
Hi everyone! I'm a n00b here and I installed recently the [ROM][RC4b][10.09.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1+. It was working OK but now it's making me some kind of troubles with the bluetooth that I cannot fix and I was hoping if somebody could help me.
When I connect the HTC Legend to the bluetooth of my car (it's not a separated bluetooth, it's part of the car) the phone crashes with a com.android.phone error and asks me to put the PIN of the SIM card. It's not a complete reboot.
I've tried to whipe it but it doesn't works. At first this happened when I my HTC Sense account, but now it seems to happen when Market updates to Google Play (always), and I cannot stop this process. I've tried, whit the Root Explorer, to erase the Market Updater o change permissions, but it stills updates.
I've searched this error on the web and I only found threads about Samsung, so I don't know if the fixes for Samsung will work.
So, my questions are
Is there any way to stop the updating of the Market?
Has somebody fixed this issue?
Exists any other ROM with Gingerbread for Legend? I've tried other ROMs but 2.2 is so boring and Cyanogen... It's excessive for me.
Thanks for the answers!!
I've used ogos gingerbread for a long time, I've never had bt issues like your describing, the only thing I can suggest is you are flashing a bad zip file.
Try doing a zip check with a zip manager like 7zip or similar.
I'm order to stop market, u need to either freeze marketupdater.apk or rename the file, its located in /system/app you need s-off or unlocked boot loader (hboot 1.02).
I think ogos is the only gingerbread with sense available (please correct me if I'm wrong) , everything else Is a variation of cyanogen.

EDIT: The 7zip tests says that the ROM is OK

Did you reboot your phone after renaming?
P..s. what did you rename it too? I always rename by changing .apk to .bak
I think you might have to clear dalvik cache too.
As you may have heard, unlocked hboot 1.02 is pretty much s-off radio and sim lock and some other little bits is only still locked

On my S-On the only way to stop market updater is to prevent it from going online by means of Avast's firewall option.

I renamed it to MARKETUPDATE22.BAK, but it stills update. That's confusing, at least for me, I thought that it won't update again to Google Play. Of course I made a reset.
I didn't tried to wipe the Dalvik. I'll try and tonight I'll proof it with my car.
:what: hum mm I'm at a loss too.
Can I assume that you still have old market as in not yet updated to play store? Before disable updater?
Before this unlocked bootloader thing I know that old market that came with rom was protected and didn't get replaced not sure now, haven't tried that but You might be able to still uninstall new market from settings manage apps.

I found this posted over at the HTC Aria forum by user mtnlion and thought somebody might be interested. You can turn off the market updater (which is responsible for bringing the new market back over and over) by going to terminal emulator and typing:
Code:
$ su
# pm disable com.android.vending.updater
This can be re-enabled by doing the same as above but typing enable instead of disable. I've tested it and it appears to persist after reboot. If you already have the new market you can go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Market > Uninstall Updates. This will revert you to the old market. Do it after disabling updater.
This doesn't stop automatic updates of apps according to the other thread. I'm sure some of you already know about this but hopefully it'll help somebody

Hi to everyone! Unfortunately, the pm disable com.android.vending.updater doesn't work and still updates. I hadn't tried to connect again because my car was in the mechanic, tomorrow I'll try again to see if Dalvik's has worked.

I don't know if this was suggested, but how about backing up the updater app, and from there remove it?
If you ever need it again, resort to the backup.
Not sure if it'll work, but logic states that there isn't a reason it shouldn't.
Hi! After cleaning Dalvik's caché looks to be working fine, after 2 days it doesn't crash. I don't know if this is really solved but hey, let's try it.

Have you tried clearing the cache and the settings for the Play Store? When I get Play Store errors, that usually works for me.
Yes i tried multiple times. Thanks anyway.

You might revert to gingerbread Rom first. Use Rom which has an updated market. Worked for me when I use dhd

1-Wipe market data and force close
2-Wipe Google services Framework data and fc
3-Reboot to recovery and fix permissions
4-Then reboot
I had solved the same issue by doing these. I hope it works for you
I already did this..and it didnt helped.
Thanks anyway..

I was getting an error when I first flashed ics but it was a purchasing process error, I came across a thread in the kindle fire section that instructed the same^, it did work but only temporary for me, after a couple times it stopped working all together. However I noticed a comment by mrdeli in there considering the possibility of playstore having issues syncing with multiple devices on the account (seen in another thread mentioning the same as well) So I checked my devices in the Play Store and it showed my hero as last used instead of my 3d so I went back to my phone in accounts sync, deleted my google acc and signed back in ... So far so good w/no errors. I do realize that's a different error message I had but perhaps it might work

Update, I stand corrected, I just flashed 4ext recovery and got the error again. The acc delete and sign in didn't work. I did end up having to go back into recovery to fix permissions and it worked again, I apologize for any added confusion

This solution didn't work for me. Error 942 still remains in my Google Play Store.. :/
Did you try another ROM?
