Hi
I have a HDC A9100 3G android phone ( china made:android-sale.com/hdc-a9100-s2-android-phone-4-3-inch-capacitive-screen-mt6573-3g-dual-sim.html ) and I whant to root him.
I am new in android OS an I saw the rooting for the original Android's phone.
A little my phone info :
Model nr. : A9100
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: MAUI.11AMD.W11.19.SP.V1, 2011/06/29 14:26
KERNEL VERSION: 2.6.35.7

Please tell me is it's possible to root this phone.

When I google I see that this phone would be the same as a Samsung Galaxy S2.

The system isn't same as galaxy s 2... both are different..
I'll help you to translate if he provided you Chinese link.

All the steps are same as other. if you get stuck in Waiting for device...
Turn USB Debugging OFF
Click Root
When it says: Waiting for Device, Turn USB Debugging ON
if the app gets stuck on "Rooting device... -Step #6"., just unplug the USB cable and quickly plug it back in the device to "kick" it along.
In this phone they dont have place name for manufacture. so just edit the System/build.prob file using FS Explorer as Samsung & Model Number: GT-I9100

@eManuka : Thank you for the tips and help, now I have root-ed HDC A9100.
It works an also I must unplug the USB on step #6.
I wanted to overclock the CPU with SetCPU, AnTuTu CPU Master PRO and some more, but I don't worked.
You can tell me an application that could work?

Hello! I have the same HDC A9100 device, but this method does not work on mine.
I use a Windows7 pc, with last 2.1.1 SuperOneClick, I followed the method described checking and unchecking the USB debug but nothing.
After few seconds SuperOneClick says "program is not responding".
Could be I do not have the right driver for the device?
Where have you taken yours?

I did but I used Windows XP, on Win7 I don't know how it's work.
I whant to overclock the CPU at 800MHz but all tried app's not worked.

What do you mean they don't work? Do you have a custom kernel or rom installed?

Work fine SuperOneclick 2.2 to root my HDC a9100 (clone galaxy s2) but remember if you use Win7 64bit (like me) execute the exe like administrator and remember to remove the microSD from phone, cause Superuser do not finish to root.

Help!
ok so im not a noob to rooting or anything but ive tried countless time to root my Evo 3d. I have the hboot 1.5 and i followed every step and have read tons of forums. The problem i'm having is im stuck in cmd after sending unlocktoken. Ive used the ruu tool and im still stuck. Any help would be great

It is possibe to have a custom kernell, I don't know. The app's I tried do not read the CPU speed .

I also have the HDC A9100 device, and I've trouble of rooting it (I'm using the final 2.2 version and have all the prerequisites installed, run as admin on my win 7 x64).
Can you provide me with a little more detailed information how you succeeded rooting this device? Because I'm stuck at the second step (starting ADB server.)
Do I need to complete remove the SD card from the phone, or UnMount would be sufficient? Do I need to put the phone in a recovery mode (how it's done, if it is possible at all?)?

So, I'm thinking to buy this HDC A9100 phone. Is it a good deal? Anybody did flash to version 2.3.7 ??? Anybody knows if is it possible?
I bought the older brother, the HDC Z710, but I didn't find nothing teaching how to upgrade it to android 2.3.x ....
Tell me what is your feeling about the HDC A9100.

Is it a really dual core? there is 2 CPU?!
CPU: MT6573 ARM11 650MHz + MT6162 ARM9 400MHz. ???

I recently bought an hdc a9100 and I´m very happy with the acquisition. I’ve already root de device (Superoneclick method) and I want continuing doing some improvements and to do so, I hope exchange some impressions with a9100 owners in a prolific way for all. I think we are looking for the same goal.
Do you known how we have access to DOWNLOAD MODE? I’ve already tried all the buttons combinations + usb pluggins and by terminal emulator procedure, but nothing. I was trying to use ODIN, but without access to DOWNLOAD MODE, showed to be impossible. I’m triyng to use ODIN in order to solve the installation of CUSTOM ROM’S and updates; following error displayed:
“failed to verify whole-file signature,
signature verification failed
installation aborted.”
